About this apartment rental
CASA CARMELITA IS NM SAFE CERTIFIED, TRAINED IN COVID-SAFE PRACTICES
RV’s and Trailers are prohibited.
Casa Carmelita, also known as Casa Encantada #7, has plenty of charm, romance and magnetism that is tucked away in a serene setting. Casa Encantada, a classic adobe compound is situated on what was original Pueblo land. This early 1900’s family compound has been transformed into a charming, intimate collection of individually owned casitas. Located one block off Kit Carson, it is an easy walk to the Plaza, 0.7 miles or drive to free parking just minutes from the Plaza for shopping, galleries, restaurants, music and museums, and just moments to the El Monte Sagrado Resort and Spa.
Casa Carmelita is a classic adobe casita that opens into a beautifully landscaped, grassy common area. There you will enjoy a unique totem pole surrounded by large cottonwood and aspen trees. This one bedroom gem sleeps 2 adults comfortably with a King bed (memory foam) and a Queen, Sleeper Sofa with no bars, no springs, no compromise. Guest will enjoy the large Kiva fireplace with beautiful gas logs for warm cozy nights. French doors open to the spacious private patio showcasing a bistro set with a wood-burning chiminea for a "quite" happy hour, then top the evening off with a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Additional amenities include, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher, Roku/Smart TV with wireless Sony headphones, blu ray DVD, CD player with Bluetooth, portable Bluetooth jam-box for music in the patio, fiber optic high speed internet, gas grill.
Our casita is dog friendly. Your dog can be unleashed in your private patio, however there is a Leash Policy for the complex. There are a number of common areas where you can walk your dog, but the dog must be on a leash attached to the owner at all times in the common grassy areas, walkways and parking lots. The neighborhood is also ideal for walking pets and Kit Carson Park is only a few blocks away.
Dave visited Taos for the first time in 1971 on an art scholarship through his University. We hope you will enjoy his paintings that hang in the casita, l some are available for purchase. Carmelita, a Registered Nurse enjoys the culinary experience of New Mexico and the Southwest.
We are excited to share Casa Carmelita with you.

We’ve stayed here multiple times. We enjoy this property and Carmelita is beyond helpful. I am usually thorough when departing, but this time I left our travel folder. Carmelita went beyond what is expected and will be sending the folder back to us. The property is quiet and relaxing. I’m sure we’ll be back—assuming it’s available when we return.
Carmelita is kind and easy to deal with. We follow the outlined rules and leave the property with the respect and with care it deserves.

It is small but very efficient use of space. The house had everything we needed; A/C in living room and cool air in bedroom, hot tub, chiminea, laundry detergent, plenty of dishes (although we didn’t cook), there was even coffee for the Kureig. About 2/3 mile from plaza, so we walked everywhere. Would definitely stay here again!

First of all, the communications were excellent and always asap in speed, both with Carmelita and the caretaker (as we called and wanted to check in an hour earlier). And, everything was ready and perfect! The best stocked kitchen with great cookware, utensils, china, on and on. And, the decor was lovely. After being on the road almost a month, the washer and dryer really came in handy. The property was so lovely. Really enjoyed both mornings and evenings out on the relaxing private patio. We wanted to take advantage of the hot tub but never could fit it into our Taos schedule! I cannot say enough about this VRBO spot. We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for having us!

Casita Carmileta is a wonderful excape to Taos and the outstanding cultural heritage unique to New Mexico. The Casita is furnished with the guests needs, comfort and privacy in mind. It was everything we expected and more.

Such a warm, inviting place with all the things to make a stay complete. The hosts are pleasantly responsive if needed. I have stayed here several times and come back for the special feeling of the casita and the location to town. From starting my morning on the patio with the neighborhood flicker, magpie and crow, to ending with a glass of wine and hot tub, it is extraordinary.

Walking distance to town, down the street from El Monte Sagrado (if you want to do Spa) and very spacious patio with a clutch hot tub ans yard area for dogs. Had an awesome time. Thank you for the hospitality.

Great location, property, amenities!

This place was so well equipped. I loved that I didn’t have to buy spices and everything to cook. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was that there is literally nowhere to take your dogs off leash in Taos. The only “dog park” is an enclosed cement tennis court. This is definitely no reflection of the property itself but I think Taos needs to build some sort of dog park. Thank you for a very relaxing time.

My wife and I celebrated 28 years together and wanted to explore Taos…the Casita was perfect! The location was close enough to walk to just about everything.
The casita was very well stocked with everything you might need, the bed and pillows were super comfortable and the courtyard was also very “cozy” perfect for a couple!

Quiet neighborhood with a beautiful one bedroom casita & all of the furnishings inside & out; hot tub, piñon burner, inside fireplace, etc.
Common ground right out our door to walk the dog. Could not have asked for more.

The Casita Carmelita was absolutely perfect for our mini moon! It is in a great location within walking distance to most restaurants and shops. The outdoor patio is the perfect hang out area with a hot tub, grill and outdoor fire place and to top it off there is a beautiful grassy area for your pets to play. If we weren't out and about on the town, we were enjoying all the activities available on the patio. We will be sure to book this spot again if we ever return to Taos, NM!

Casa Carmelita has great Taos ambiance located in a very quiet neighborhood and within walking distance of Taos Plaza.
The hot tub is an additional touch that we enjoyed during our visit.

The lack of air conditioning was an issue in the extreme heat. The bugs became an issue as the week progressed. Location was noisy with my patio so close to dog walk and evening parties in the open area.

While we found the casita well decorated and in a nice location, there were hundreds of bugs in it. I contacted the property manager when we checked in and she told me it was adobe elderbug season and while they were a nuisance, they would not hurt us. They were everywhere! I filled the Dustbuster with several hundred bugs from the casita. In my opinion, it needs some major extermination, because we did not notice these bags in any of the other places we were in Taos.

Cozy cottage with lots of skylights and gas kiva fireplace. Private patio with hot tub and a shared large fenced yard. Next time I might bring the dogs! The hot tub was a pleasure, especially with the freezing temperatures. We would definitely stay again!

We stayed in Taos for 3 nights to enjoy the galleries, nearby sights and great restaurants. Lovely adobe house in a quiet residential neighborhood. We enjoyed the artistic interiors. The kitchen was well equipped. We were a 10 minute walk from the downtown Plaza and a short drive to all the major sights including Taos Pueblo and the Rio Grande Bridge. After full days, we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The check in and check out process were very smooth. I would highly recommend staying here. Visiting in the fall is especially lovely for the golden color of the aspen trees.

Cute but not for us
Very cute casita located in nice cul-de-sac. Good communication with the host however we didn't realize there was no air conditioner and being that I have severe asthma we couldn't open the windows so we moved to another location. The host has offered to book us in the Fall when air conditioning wouldn't be an issue.

Second stay
We love this place. Perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. We went on amazing hikes everyday. Enjoyed Thursday night band and Saturday market. We highly recommend this beautiful home in wonderful location.

Very nice.
My biggest beef was the check in process. I’d like it like a hotel reservation in that as soon as I make a reservation I get all the information I need, all in one place. In this case the information dribbled in over multiple emails over a period of weeks. It’s a major PITA to sift through long winded, repetitive but still inadequate messages.

Love this place!! Great location. Walking distance to everything! Decorated so cute and functional. Well stocked. Owner thought of everything! Wonderful private courtyard with grill and hot tub for two. Hope to make this an annual Birthday getaway!
