About this apartment rental
Located in the heart of the lively Atlas District, this colorful, one-bedroom BASEMENT apartment boasts walking distant to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, coffee shops, farmers market, and parks of the revitalized H Street corridor and Union Market. You'll be a 30 second walk to buses, which go directly to Chinatown/White House/Smithsonians and the free DC Streetcar, which will take you down H St or up to Union Station; a great home base to explore DC!
WE ARE BACK! After a long hiatus and renovation during the pandemic, the Colorful DC Hideaway is freshly painted, newly floored, and happy to be hosting again.
Free street parking visitor pass available by request. Street parking is first come, first served but the visitor pass enables it's barer to park in any unmetered parking space in the vicinity of the Airbnb.
Enjoy this fun and stylishly furnished 845 sq/ft (79 sq/m) apartment. The vibrant space has a DC theme and a cozy atmosphere. Wash off the city after a long day of sightseeing by enjoying the relaxing massage of body jets and a rain shower. Or take it easy and watch TV in bed while the kids watch their shows in the living room.
If you have little ones, no need to bring extra gear. We have a pack-n-play for them to sleep in (or to contain them), some toys for them to play with, DVD/Blu-ray player and assorted videos, kid’s plates/cups/cutlery, a changing mat, a washer and dryer to clean off the "fun" they had in DC, and several other items available by request (folding canvas hi-chair, inflatable infant bath, portable infant bassinet, and folding toddler stroller - these items are shared between multiple properties and available on a first come-first served basis).
Make breakfast in the kitchen with the fresh ingredients you bring back from Whole Foods (only 2 blocks west) or Saturday's farmer's market (5 blocks east) before touring our pedestrian-friendly city. Enjoy complimentary coffee or tea before facing the day
We provide a guest welcome book with information on nearby places to eat and drink, how to operate the different features of your rental, and loaner SmarTrip cards to use on the metro or bus during your stay (which may even have some money left over from a previous guest).
The owners wanted to make this space something they would be happy and comfortable living in themselves and hope you will feel the same!

Everything we needed was at our fingertips.
Jennifer - property manager communication with us was quick and her efforts are to make our stay at Colorful DC are evident in supplies, comfort and all the extras that are provided with our stay at Colorful DC.
The description of the place was exact and the easy commute to our destination everyday was easy and perfect.

Our first trip to DC for my husband and I and we couldn't have asked for a better location. The free trolley, just seconds from our door, provided a convenient ride to the Union Station where we caught the metro train to popular destinations: Arlington Cemetery, Pentagon, Lincoln Memorial, Tidal Basin, White House, Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, etc. We had everything we needed to prepare our breakfasts and suppers every day by pre-ordering groceries and walking to the Eastern Market for fresh produce/meats. Jenna was very responsive throughout the process and the accommodations were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The shower was a relaxing way to end each day. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice little place off H street; very clean and comfortable which was perfect for our small family getaway. We very much appreciated that a high chair and toys were available for our use. We also appreciated being able to walk to local restaurants. Communication with “host” was exceptional which made booking incredibly easy. Would definitely stay here again.

Thanks for making our DC stay great! Property manager Jenna was super awesome with communication and very helpful with tips. The property was an easy rental … not far from the metro. Everything is nice and clean and organized for guests. Thank you!

We stayed with our young children. The property was safe for them, very clean, and was stocked with the little things that matter (i.e. shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, etc.). The property manager kept an open line of communication, and gave us a heads-up regarding the traffic situation due to a marathon, and nearby festivals.. The property is in a great up-and-coming place. One item to note, and this is not a knock against the property, is that if you have young children, have a plan to get to the Metro transit (20 minute walk) or the Mall (another 20 minute walk. We expected to walk and supplemented here and there with a few Ubers/Lyfts. We would definitely consider staying again.

We were looking for a home base for when we visit family in the neighborhood. This is it! Grocery store, restaurants, coffee shop, and great bookstore all nearby. Comfortable apartment that has all you need and room to hang out and visit. We will be back!

Jennifer was extremely helpful! Based on her recommendations we tried a couple of restaurants within walking distance. It was great to have free parking and we really utilized public transit. This was very much a no frills place, but clean and had a nice shower. Really had everything we needed for our purposes.

We loved staying at this apartment. The decor was fun and celebrated D.C. It was clean, we had what we needed and the customer service was spot on!! Our family would definitely stay here again!

My two teen daughters and I loved this apartment. Small, yet spacious, clean, organized, tastefully/colorfully decorated and believe it or not, very bright for the basement!
Fully loaded kitchen with dishes, cutlery, and new appliances. Loved being able to make our ownbreakfast.

Very nice accommodations. A bit of a walk to major attractions but Lyft worked well. Efficient and affordable. Unit was very clean and well furnished.

We had a wonderful stay in this adorable apartment!
While everything was as described and made for a great experience, the real stand-out of this property is the host - excellent communication, and most responses were received only a few minutes after my messages were sent. The host also provided a comprehensive and super-helpful visitor guide that really helped us orient to the neighborhood and the city.
I would definitely recommend this property!

This was a relaxing stay. Everything is modern. The property manager was superb. And the location was fine. I was in town mostly for work and worked from the house and saw the cherry blossoms after. It rained one day and i enjoyed staying in and binging tv.

Beautiful inside! We were taken aback by how great the full kitchen was. Loved how the apartment was decorated. We were here for the weekend for my son to run in a marathon and it was the perfect space for all 4 of us. 2 of us slept on the sleeper sofa and 2 in the bed. Plenty of room. The shower was fantastic and we loved walking to the bookstore around the corner. Such a cute apartment! Would highly recommend. Loved the extra touches like puzzles, games and guide books left for guests to use. Our family had a great time here! Host communicated very well. Overall a great experience!

The place was immaculate. Kitchen was organized and labeled making it easy to find everything. Communication was quick, clear and accurate. Easily found a parking spot within a block of the apartment. Loved our stay!

Clean and comfortable!
Whole Foods just down the street.
Dining options were not as good as we had hoped, but all in all It was a wonderful place.

A quaint basement suite with easy access to public transportation to get to the sites. The manager was fabulous; has lots of tips and ideas for seeing Washington and answers all questions promptly.

The pictures don’t do the property justice. The host is so detailed that they even Labeled where the kitchen appliances and trash were which was very helpful. Highly recommend.

This was exactly what we were looking for as a family of 4 venturing out in DC. Parking was not an issue—I found a spot out front and didn’t move the entire time—just used UBER. Residence was clean, easy to navigate, and we cooked two meals a day without a struggle. Looking forward to returning!

Loved our stay! Being close to so many things was great.

We were very thankful for the communication with our host ahead of time, and there was everything we needed in the flat for the extra few days we were staying in D.C.. Street parking was okay for us and there was a sweet coffee shop just a couple blocks down H Street connected to some new apartments that we highly recommend (The Wydown). We didn't need to use public transit, but the drive to the National Mall was easy and quick. This VRBO is a recommendation from us :)

Wonderful communication. House as described. Great location with so many stores and restaurants within blocks. There during major Supreme Court decision and never felt unsafe. We got a parking spot out front and never moved for the duration of trip. Used the free trolley and Ubers (never more than $10 off peak) to get to the major tourist attractions. Communication top notch. Have stayed in many vrbo and this ranks towards the top. You won’t find a better deal.

Convenient Location, Great Apartment
It was recently updated, and they did a great job of fitting all of the necessities into this space. The apartment was just as pictured, no surprises. The location gives easy access to public transportation, with Whole Foods a mere 2 blocks away (if you want to grab provisions.) It's a half block from busy H Street, but amazingly quiet. Our host communicated extensively pre-visit, giving us great restaurant suggestions and other advice. Also, if you need to check bags pre- or post- check in, the craft beer store nearby is a venue for Radical, and we felt very comfortable using them to hold our bags until checkin time.

We spent a week in DC with our two young children (6 & 8) visiting museums, monuments, and other fun stuff. This spot was great. Easy access to multiple bus lines, the streetcar, and not a bad walk to the metro red line. Lots of food options right in the neighborhood. Also, Jenna was super responsive with the questions we had about the apartment. I'd highly recommend.

Such an adorable home. We felt safe and enjoyed the nearby amenities. Our host was so kind and thoughtful as DC flooding almost extended our stay by a few hours. The only downside is parking can be a beast. You may take a chance but there is a parking deck across the street which was much cheaper than what we found online. You'll do better driving around upon arrival as out of state cars cannot park in the neighborhood.
Thanks for an enjoyable stay and the yummy Halloween candy. Our son was overjoyed!
