Great weather, great location and perfect house for our family of 6! Great response time and no problems.

We had a great time - a cute Cottage with a front porch and view of the Marsh. Had everything we needed and a short walk to the beach! Great location!!

Overall, really nice little beach house. Perfect for one or two families. Really close to the beach (4 mins walk). The host (Jill) is really fast to answer your questions. Maybe a little bit too expensive if we take for consideration that a few things were not included (bed sheets, toilet paper and garbage bags). But overall, I will recommend 100%.

The location was perfect! Really spacious for the price. We would only change some of the fans as they were barely working and we wished that the AC was not in 1 room making it difficult to have air condiotionning in all 3 bedrooms. Other than that, it was great. We would book again.

Great location

The property is very well located, at less than 5 min from the beach! Communication with Jill for our arrival was easy and friendly. We felt at a home away from home. She made herself very available if there was anything and it was appreciated!
The rooms are spacious and the patio was awesome for cooling down after a beach day.
The kitchen is well equipped, with only maybe a cheese grater and a cutting board missing for an optimal cooking experience, but nevertheless everything is very functional!
We had a great stay!

I brought my kids for a quiet, easy vacation. We couldn't be more pleased. The cottage was clean and cozy. It was close to the beach, arcade and food. Highly recommend and hope to go back next year.

First time was a great time!
You cannot beat the location of this property. A three minute walk to the beach, and close to the arcade and playground which was key for our young kids! We enjoyed the sunsets from the awesome screened in porch. Super nice people in this area and definitely want to come back again!

Cute spot close to the beach
This property is super cute and nicely decorated. You can tell the owner puts a lot of thought and care into the space. Just a short walk to the beach and arcade is right across the street. Future renters should know that the "bedrooms" are actually one large room with half walls between the "rooms" , so there is no privacy between the bedrooms.

Great stay!
Our place was exactly what we were expecting and more! Was just a quick walk to the beach. Would have been great for kids had we brought them as the arcade was very close to our place. Would definitely go again.

Maine escape
Property was true to listing. We had a great time. Short walk to beach and a very peaceful front porch. Plenty of parking as well which was great. The bathroom is small but functional as reviewed by others...we found it perfectly adequate. We utilized the grill and eat in kitchen. Loved the fresh flowers on the table. The games in the living room was a nice touch for rainy days! Thank you 😊

Host provided good information re arrival. We had no need to ask her anything. Charming cottage.

Had a Great Weekend!
We stayed at this property towards the end of May. The house was very well stocked and clean. What we loved most was that we were within walking distance from the beach, restaurants, and stores. Our kids LOVED being across the street from an arcade and playground. The screened in porch was great in the morning to drink coffee on and look out at the bay and watch the sunset at night. The owners were very responsive and easy to communicate with leading up to our trip. I can't wait to go back!

Way over priced for off season and a lack of amenities.
The house was ok, but not disclosed on the listing until after you book is the lack of things like sheets, towels, etc. Cleaning fee was almost as much as the rental of the house.

Our favorite place
We love coming to this house in Wells! Quick walk to the beach and close to shops. Great arcade the kids can walk to.
The house is adorable and always clean.

Quaint but very close to the beach and very helpful owners
We stayed with Jill McTeague in June 2018 at her place in Wells. It is a simple, quaint place about 2 blocks from Wells beach. It has plenty of space (3 bedrooms upstairs) and a nice porch for resting/relaxing. Jill is great about providing information on the local area and was very responsive to our questions.

Cozy cabin
We had a wonderful week in this great cabin!
What we liked :
-It was super clean when we arrived.
-Lots of fans in every room.
-Steps from the beach, small restaurants/coffee shops, a playground for the kids and the arcade for the older ones! (I agree that the beach is nicer if you use Public Way 1 to get there, and the noise from the arcade is really low and we only hear it from the porch)
-the porch! (Nice and relaxing view of the marsh)
- Plenty of room for the kids to play (inside in the twin beds room and outside on the grass)
- Outside hose, and clothesline
-Nice furniture, comfy beds, great big sofa in the living room, extending table in the kitchen (with 6 chairs), big refrigerator.
-Barbecue
I can only put 4 stars because of those little details :
-no dishwasher, and no place to store our food
-the wi-fi only works in the kitchen
-no washer/dryer
-Only one small bathroom, (no bath, only a shower)
But those little details are nothing compared to all the positive points. We were comfortable as 4 adults with young childrens from 7 months to 5 years old.
I would recommend this house for anyone who wants a relaxing and uncomplicated vacation!

Great rustic cabin!
All in all it was a great place for a family vacation. Sleeps seven perfectly, clean, full of amenities if you are not looking for a fully equipped modern cabin (no dishwasher, washer or dryer). Back porch is great, especially at sunset, bbq perfect. A couple of minutes to the main beach but always used Public Way 1, more sand, drier, so about 5 minutes of walking...the one issue that could make a stay more perfect is the wifi access on the porch - very weak and sometimes non-existent. But minor complaint compared to the best parts.

great for so many reasons!!
This house was ideally located near to main drag back to route 1 yet definitely immersed in the beach houses near the beach! With a fantastic view of the wetland and a small walk to the ocean beach, this house served the adults and children well! The house is steps from the Rollover cafe which allowed us to grab an egg sandwich on the way to the beach because we needed protein to balance the morning intake of the famous congdons donuts found just up on Rt 1! Also, at the corner was the Arcade for the kids and even though it was off season, the little merry go round was plugged in outside and the two year old with us was thrilled! There is a public playground at the corner as well. We walked in the opposite direction one of our mornings both along the beach and the road for a wonderful panoramic view of wetland and ocean! The birds that you see and hear from this house are so beautiful and varied-the salt marsh/wetland the house is poised at guarantees that. I'm all about location and this place had it! When we needed things from route 1 like the Hannefords grocery store or restaurants, gas or more, they were right there! The house was great-a perfect Maine seasonal cottage, so nicely done with a big eat in kitchen room and a cozy living area and a perfect screened in porch. Again, we went just before season started so the rooms upstairs staying warm in the sun on slightly cooler days, made it so cozy for going to sleep at night. And during the night, cool ocean air provided by a good cross breeze because of well placed windows, walls open slightly at the top and great ceiling fans meant that we were well rested in the morning. For the nights when it's too cool, there are electric heat runs along the wall in each room. One thing that might be helpful to remember is that there is a nice shower, but no tub. We grilled dinner one night and another night we were too happy and exhausted from our fun beach day to bother to eat dinner before we passed out! A note about the area in case you don't know Wells: antique shops abound, the Rachel Carson conservation wetland is close to offer more salt marsh to admire in addition to the area the house sits on. And I love Ogunguit for day trips and meals which we easily got to do. Lastly, Jill was a FANTASTIC hostess and let us book completely last minute and flexed in a million ways to make the experience easy so that our short weekend felt like a long vacation! We even had a welcome note and bottle of wine waiting for us!

the porch and view that heals your soul, clears your head and brings your shoulders down
I already rebooked for next year! This is the perfect New England summer beach cottage,as far as,Im concerned. Its comfortable, cozy, convenient, clean and accomodating. The kitchen has all the basics you need, the beds are extremely comfy, there is plenty of room for friends and family to come visit(the kitchen, the living room, the porch, the bedrooms are good sized so your guests feel comfortable, never awkward or imposing)....,the beach is a 2 minute walk away, the trolleys are a 1 minute walk, the kids love the arcade on the corner of the street, there is a grocery store right there, and the Italian restaurant/bar right there makes a killer chicken marsala and Cosmo martini, too!!
Even though I dont have kids,my visiting friends and family do,but, this cottage was as perfect for them as it was for me.......This cottage porch, for me,has become now the happy place in my head that I go to when life gets crazy and busy and stressful and I need some Zen time! Watching the sun, every night, slowly set over and melt into the salt marsh across the street, was the most amazing, brilliant, breathe taking, soul soothing, healing, happy,in the moment time...I have had in a very long time.
The cottage property owners were great dealing with and truly cared about my satisfaction and happiness while on vacation, staying in their rental. When I recently inquired about renting again this year, the owners told me they have already addressed and fixed the one and only inconvenience experienced (spotty WIFI inside the cottage)that I mentioned to them afterwards.
This is a happy, fun, leave you feelin good, kinda beach house, that will make you, your family and friends smile!.. and will hug you with positive ocean and sunshine vibes when you walk in the door! I cant wait to go back!!!!

Cozy and Clean!!!
This cottage is absolutely adorable! We had a great week in Maine and cannot wait to back. The cottage is very clean and cozy. There is also plenty of parking. The location is perfect for adults and for children. The arcade, coffee shop, stores and beach are all minutes away. The owners were great and the neighbors were super nice. My husband and I spent many nights sitting in the enclosed front porch watching the sunset. Such a beautiful view! We cannot wait to go back next summer!

Adorable!
This house is the epitome of a Maine cottage! It was clean and decorated nicely. We spent most of our time on the beach (a 5 minute walk) and on the front porch (with a tall glass of wine enjoying the beautiful view!). Can't wait to come back next year!

Fun!
We had a great time in this "true Maine" cottage. Very open rooms downstairs and plenty of room for our 3 kids upstairs. The highlight is the proximity to the famous arcade, Rollover Cafe and beach. We spent our time relaxing on the front porch while the kids traveled to the arcade and for ice cream just steps from our seats. Wells has such an old town feeling it's a treat. Lots of parking here with a sister cottage on the same property. We will bring our cousins next year to rent the other house. Great family vacation or reunion spot. Also met the neighbor across the street who also rents so it is ideal for a large group. Fun fun week!

Disappointing stay and interactions with owner
My husband, 10-yr old, and I stayed here for six nights. We cannot recommend this property. The upstairs is EXTREMELY hot during the day. There's no AC, just a few fans. It is stifling. The house is NOT right next to the beach; it is a good two to three block walk crossing busy Mile Road over to Atlantic Ave to get to the public way. You can walk to the rocky part of the beach at Forbes nearer to the house but through a very busy parking lot and walkway is not accessible at high tide. The bedroom walls do not reach the ceiling so don't expect privacy. The upstairs bedrooms have VERY LOW sloped ceilings w/the beds tucked under the lowest points in each room. My husband and I hit our heads (hard) several times. The bathroom is a tiny cramped closet off the living room, sandwiched against the kitchen, so whatever anyone is doing in the bathroom can be heard in the living room/kitchen. We were told there would be wifi, which we needed b/c we had to do some work, but there was essentially no access and then only if we stood by the back door. The gas grill was dirty. There was a hole in the kitchen floor open to the outside. My husband covered it with a pan so nothing could creep in. We bought air freshener b/c the whole house reeked of paint, which was especially bad when paired with the heat upstairs. NOTE WELL: Checkout is 10 a.m. We were charged a "cleaning fee" b/c we were running late Sat. morning and are told we inconvenienced the housekeeper. She arrived at 10:30 and went to the other house on the property, where she was busy cleaning when we left at 10:50. Had she asked for house access, we would have happily given it to her. When we left, we put the keys in the KEY cupboard inside, although the rental contract said to leave the keys "on the kitchen table" and a note in the house apparently said to use the lockbox. It was all very confusing. When the housekeeper looked in the lockbox for keys and they weren't there she went next door and easily got a spare set. Nevertheless we were charged a "cleaning fee" in addition to the cleaning fee we paid upfront and were scolded for leaving "sand all over the living room and enclosed porch." We are at a loss to explain this. We left the place clean and tidy. There may have been a little sand on the porch but that is considered ordinary wear for a beach rental, esp. when you have paid so much to rent a place and pay a cleaning fee upfront. I've been coming to Wells my whole life; this was my first bad experience.
