About Marblehead
Founded in 1629, Marblehead was a crucial fishing port during the American Revolution; much of its history can be discovered by navigating through the colorful, narrow streets of Old Town. Like an open-air museum, Marblehead flaunts its history not only in its well-preserved 18th-century houses and architecture, national historic landmarks and local shops are sprinkled throughout the town.
After meandering amongst the quaint Colonial houses, take a tour through Marblehead Neck, which leads to the lighthouse. Marvel at the breathtaking views of Marblehead Harbor, birthplace of the US Navy, & a major sailing capital.
Marblehead’s most popular beach, Devereux, has plenty of picnic tables, playgrounds, and on-site restrooms. Gas House Beach is on Little Harbor. With a rocky shore and small boats anchored in tranquil, shallow water, the scene at Gas House is perfectly New England. Active visitors can enjoy a paddle at King’s Beach with views of Boston.

This was a great spot for our family overall. We had a short drive to visit relatives in Marblehead. It was a short drive or walk to delicious food, the beach, and Fort Sewall. We looked at all the great jewelry and treasures in the shop downstairs and made some great finds. It was a little tricky to park, but we had to get a bigger rental car -- we knew that going in. Appreciated the complimentary coffee, a/c, cozy blankets, board games, streaming options, and blackout shades (in one bedroom). The five of us managed with just one bathroom on the upstairs floor, and I was glad we didn't have tiny kids or frail elders to navigate the stairs. It was big enough to have some family over for dinners and games.

Our stay was ok but I did reach out to the property manager about an early check in. I was told maybe but she would get back to me. I never heard back from her and when we arrived at the 4:00 pm check in time we still couldn’t check in because the cleaners weren’t done cleaning the property.
I also don’t remember being told about the parking situation until a day or so before we checked in. The listing stated that there is parking on site but I don’t remember it mentioning that you have to be driving a very small car in order to utilize the on site parking. We had a rental SUV and ended up damaging the vehicle because it is such a tight squeeze to get to the on site parking.
The owner of the property is unprofessional and uncooperative and has failed to return a few items that we accidentally left behind. When I realized I left some things behind the day after we checked out, I immediately messaged the owner to let her know that I forgot some things and that my mother was still in town and could easily stop by to get them. Instead, she told me she would ship them to me and she would send me the information to purchase a shipping label. A few days went by and I still hadn’t received the email. She has been playing this game of cat and mouse with me now for nearly 3 weeks. We checked out on 7/18/24 and today is 8/6/24 and I still do not have my belongings or confirmation that she has shipped them. At this point, I’m assuming she intends to steal them. Unreal.

The location was fantastic for walking around Marblehead and the space was super clean. Lovely shop on the first floor of the dwelling.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Sweet Retreat! Had we known just how much we were going to enjoy our stay, we would’ve booked longer. Comfy beds, shower is great and the area is amazing. It is on a very, busy street so the back bedroom is much quieter! Believe it when you read that it is a tight squeeze to get to the parking spot! We drove a CRV and it was tight. Anything wider won’t fit!

Stay was great, had to supply toilet paper since 5 adults stayed. Walkable distance to many things only 7 minute drive to Salem.

Got this condo for my parents! Very nice and clean - great location and just a block away from everything you need! You can walk to the beach as well!
The host was very accommodating and we overall had a great experience! Will def rent this again!

Very cute and updated property. Has everything you need. Beautiful walking around to look at old properties.

Very clean and well decorated. My friends and I loved this house and it's location. The driveway to the parking lot in the back is tight, but I drove a Tucson, turned in the windows and went slow, it was fine. We had 7 girls in our group and brought our own air mattresses based off the reviews of the couches not being super comfy. There was enough room for all of us. The entrance is through the back, 2 flights of stairs to a small porch.
I wish we spent more time walking around Marblehead, the neighborhood is beautiful. I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Salem and don't want to pay the crazy prices to stay in town. It was a short 10 minute drive from the house, and for the nights we wanted to drink, we got ubers. All in all, great location great house! Would be more than happy to stay here again! :)

Perfect location to access Marblehead attractions and Salem just to name a few. The flat is comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. The host has really thought of everything. Very happy with our stay.

We stayed here and loved it! So chill and laid back. Visited Boston, Salem, Wingaersheek Beach , Worcester(whale watch). All within 40 mins or less. Awesome little hub to stay at! Not to mention just walking around town is so relaxing and interesting. There are so many amazing things to see! We even extended our stay another day because we never want to go home!!!!

This location was right in the heart of Marblehead, with plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee spots, and shops. This beautiful, safe, and quiet town was the perfect spot for our vacation. The host was on top of everything we needed, and the place was incredibly clean. Easy instructions on check out, and all around great stay! Would definitely recommend, and would stay here again!

We stayed for 2 weeks while exploring the North Shore. Very comfortable beds, adequately furnished including the kitchen. We had no issues at all but a couple of things to be aware of, The driveway was as advertised and very tight, caused some issues when we had guests (and inexperienced drivers), but there is some free street parking a block or so away; A flight of stairs to get in, living room gets a bit tight with 6 people. That being said we had a great stay, walkable to restaurants and all the necessities and the waterfront (about a 15 minute walk) and a bus stop right outside. Everything was in working order and the beds were exceptional.

Very clean, well supplied. Nice layout. Didn't use television, nor appliances. Beds super comfortable. Provided a fan I requested, needed white noise. Only draw back, it was between 2 bars, and seem it was May 4th, there was a lot of partying. Very loud night. We didn't stay both nights.

Perfect location, lovely host, squeaky clean with a rooftop deck to boot. We'd stay there again!

This house was adorable. The location is a short drive to downtown Salem. There were plentt of blankets and pillows to keep us warm, and a TV (it was cold and rainy when we went). My kids loved the pitched ceilings. Plenty of room to cook meals in the kitchen. There's a restaurant literallt next door and a liquor store/grocery store/sandwish place two blocks down. My only word of caution is if you drive, it's a VERY small driveway to the back. Our VW Arlas barely fit. Other than that it's great! I just wish the crystal shop downstairs was open!

Beautifully renovated old apartment over a storefront. Parking tight, as described. Great location for walking biking or touring. With only one bath and a not so great sleep sofa, recommend accommodations should be limited to five or six, not eight as listed.

Our experience was amazing. The location was clean, and everything we thought it would be. The location is right on a main road, which makes it a little noisy, but that was our only negative (it wasn't that bad, we just aren't use to that coming from the country)
Lots of stuff within walking distance, beautiful town, and the property came with a great binder full of information.
We enjoyed our stay, and didn't want to leave.
5.0
A nice quaint place, near EVERYTHING that Marblehead, Mass has to offer.
( also, a short drive to / from Lynn, Swampscott, Salem, Peabody, & Beverly.......And as far as Airports go- Logan is very close. )
Kind Regards, The KC's
PS: " The Futon " was the most comfortable, of the several I have slept on.

As stated by the owner, the driveway is very narrow. Getting in and out wasn't too hard with another person guiding. The property has plenty of space to park once through the driveway. Being an upstairs unit, you may have to make several trips with your luggage up a flight of steps outside. The house will sleep 8 if you find the air mattress in the master bedroom closet. This living space is quite close quarters with one bathroom, so you may want to assign a bathroom schedule. Your living room, dining room, and kitchen are all essentially one large room. If you use the pull out couch, it is in the same room. Bedrooms have angled ceilings that helped my 6 foot 3 body decide to sleep on the close side of the bed, so as to not have to hunch over while walking around the bed. This spot is quick hop over to Salem and to the ferry that can take you to Boston. Very happy with our trip, very nice place to stay.

We absolutely loved staying here. The house was well equipped for us and our toddler and was cozy yet spacious enough for him to run around and play. We loved the proximity to Salem and when we come back we will definitely try to stay here again!

The place was as described. Very clean! Cute shops and bars near by. About a 15 min uber into salem.
The bottles of water and k cups of coffee was a nice touch

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The wine provided was a wonderful touch since we arrived late the first day and only wanted to rest. The beds are memory foam which was comfortable. Try the restaurant right next door Three Cod Tavern- great food. We drove a mid-sized suv and we’re able to drive through the narrow driveway by pulling our mirrors in and one of us ground guided the driver each time. There was construction ongoing in front of the property during the day so access was a little difficult but not impossible. I would stay here again if I’m the area.

Perfect spot for a weekend in salem. Cute little crystal shop right below. House was clean and decorated nice. Owner was super friendly. Overall eat place to stay.

my family of 4 kids (including one toddler) and I had a lovely time at this property. It's a little smaller than the photos suggest, but that's always the case with such places. People with toddlers, be aware that there are a lot of stairs and not much you can do in terms of stopping your crawlers from going straight to them :)
But location of this is perfect, the beds were comfortable, the furnishings nice. Enjoyable and we would definitely come back.

We had a girls weekend with 3 adults. Hoping to each have our own place to sleep, one night on the futon quickly changed that. With that, the king sized beds are incredibly comfortable and sharing wasn’t a problem!! The wine was a great touch and was enjoyed, but we would have traded it for an extra roll or 2 of tp. The property was super clean and we all agreed that we would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay! We were able to get in and set up the pack and plays easily and the location is excellent. Everything we needed was available and there was a sweetpea welcome gift in the fridge. Thank you!!

This was a nice property with a good location. Though it was on a busier street, it was pleasantly quiet. Though they place was clean for the most part, there was a large ball of human hair in the shower and lots of dog or cat hair on the carpets as well as in the corners of the steps. Thankfully we don’t have allergies. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Very cute 2 bedroom in a great location. Owner was very accommodating. Marblehead is a lovely town and very walkable. Close proximity to Salem and Boston.

Great!
Nearly everything about this property was great! The location is wonderful. It was clean, well stocked and enough space for all six of us. My only complaint is the futon couches in the main area are so bad they are almost impossible to sit on comfortably let alone sleep on. Luckily we didn’t sit around much since there was so much to do in the area and we tripled up on the huge king beds upstairs. Will definitely stay again.

Marblehead is beautiful
Really lovely apartment in the gorgeous town of Marblehead.
Double beds really comfortable, everything that’s needed is in the apartment and plenty of good places to eat and drink nearby.
Would very happily go back and stay again!

Loved this property… clean and newly renovated. Central location and really close to shopping, restaurants and the beach. Great shop on the ground floor.

Wish we'd stayed longer
Location was excellent. Could walk through neighborhoods, to the marina, to grocery store and restaurants. And close to where we wanted to tour. We only stayed two nights; as lovely as our next stop was (Plymouth), Marblehead would have been a smarter stay logistically for everything else we did in the area over the next few days.
The apartment was comfortable for 2 adult couples, and well supplied with basic necessities. No complaints, no problems, weacked for nothing. My wife kept saying, "I want to live here!"

Two bedroom downtown
The stay was nice but don’t plan to sleep on the futons. Really uncomfortable to the point of unusable. Beds were comfy though. It can be noisy especially in the morning with traffic. Street side bedroom is bright in the morning. No dishwasher. Otherwise nice, recently remodeled and well located.

Perfect location, beautiful space
We lived staying at Sweet Retreat. It’s really airy, bright and welcoming. Parking is available, even though we used street parking (no permits required!). Beds are very comfortable, and kitchen had a lot of great tools to cook. We noticed there was only one (steak) knife to cut with, and noticed mgmt because we love to cook! Mgmt was super swift in providing- really timely and friendly. I’d stay here again because it’s a great spot and lovely space for resting. Thank you for hosting us!
