About this house rental
Quaint renovated bungalow located just one and a half blocks from the campus of Missouri State University. Only minutes from JQH arena, Springfield Cardinals Baseball and downtown Springfield, which features a variety of restaurants and entertainment. Within two miles of Mercy Hospital and three miles from Bass Pro.
Originally built in 1915, it has two bedrooms, one bath with a comfortable living area. Larger dining area with seating for six. Claw foot tub with shower, King Bed in Master, trundled twin beds in second bedroom. There is a high efficiency washer and dryer in the basement.
All old homes are quirky, and remind us that life was much different 100 years ago. Bedrooms are small and living is close. Doors creek and don't always shut; everything has been painted four or five times. But that's what gives these homes their charm. Sleeps 4 in beds. There is a couch in the living area, but it does not fold out, and we don't recommend sleeping on it. Gas stove and small refrigerator with breakfast nook for two. Large fenced backyard with plenty of space to play and a deck with a fire pit for nice evenings outside. Hi-speed Internet (50mb^/50mb). 42 inch smart TV over gas fireplace, but the fireplace is fickle, so it's best not to count on it.
Hardware floors throughout, lots of natural lighting. A very comfortable place to relax and unwind, or enjoy watching cars pass by while on the front porch.
This is an ideal place for a small young family of four. If you need space for more than five, please search VRBO for something larger. Also we do not rent for parties, and request that all renters staying in the house are related.
At this time the only discount we offer is reflected in the weekly rate. We also have a strict no pet policy and a strict no smoking policy (no smoking in the house or outside--if you are or someone in your party smokes, we kindly ask you to make other arrangements for lodging. If you have a service animal, please contact us to see if our home is suitable for your needs). Also, as a vacation rental, we do not offer extended stays--nothing longer than 10 days.
We love hosting, but offering this rental is not our primary job responsibility, having the bungalow cleaned in a timely manner can be challenging. If the dates that you desire bump into another guest, this is especially true. This is one reason that we do not have instant booking, as there are times that we may have to refuse a booking because we can not have it clean for you in time. Thanks for understanding.

My friends and I come to Springfield for the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival and usually get a motel room. This year we decided to try a vrbo we chose this charming clean cozy house that was within minutes of our venue, restaurants, and other activities and for less than a overpriced motel. There are even restaurants just steps from the front door. The house is absolutely adorable in a great neighborhood Whoever decorated made it a welcoming place to stay. Hosts were so nice and available from day one of booking and answered all questions immediately. Would definitely stay here again.

The bungalow was cute, clean and located so close to everything we needed. Host was very responsive and check in and out was seamless.

This home was super clean and so cute! It had everything we needed. It was in a great neighborhood with so many restaurants within walking distance. The university was also within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

The location was excellent for me with its close proximity to Missouri State. It appeared to have all amenities needed; however, I did not use the kitchen or any other room besides the bathroom and bedroom. I tried to turn on the TV once in the living room and the remote wouldn't work. I tried to work using the dining room table as a desk, but it was sticky. The house has a strong musty odor which could be due to its age and/or lack of occupancy. The king size bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice. The biggest drawback was the poor water pressure in the bathroom. I even didn't attempt to wash my hair in the shower, and instead went out and bought dry shampoo. When I first turned on the hot water in the bathroom sink, it came out orange/rusty. Not sure how long it has been since the house has been used. The biggest let-down was the lack of the front porch swing that was pictured and advertised as part of the property. The swing was the reason why I chose this property over others, and now it is gone, replaced by a bench. This was disappointing. I ended up leaving the property a day early because I didn't feel comfortable without a good shower and clean space to work.

We had a nice time in Springfield and our house was a nice and comfy. It was a great location to gas stations, restaurants, and the location we hung out. Thank you!

Very Good:
Bed/mattress comfort
Living room & dining space/comfort
Location is central & close to what we needed, including Evangel University
Not good:
Shower water pressure is extremely weak.
I understand this can be an old house pipe issue. But it’s a very relevant detail for some people to know when selecting a place to stay. We didn’t like it, especially me with thick hair needing a wash.
Pointing out a detail I missed having because I cook (people reading reviews can decide if it matters):
- No dishwasher

Such a cozy sweet house. My mom and I really enjoyed sitting on the very comfy couch reading in the evening before bed. The living room was very cozy in the evening. The beds were incredibly comfortable as well. My only problem was that it was a little difficult to see the address on the house, but overall, by far the best place I’ve stayed. I highly recommend this VRBO.

The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. The king bed was comfortable. We did not use the second bedroom but it looked like plenty of space for two people. The dining and family room areas were large with ample comfortable seating. The location was perfect for walking to nearby cafes and bars. The owners were great about communicating information prior to arrival. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Good weekend stay. Water pressure is low but it’s an older house so it’s expected. Easy check in and good location.

Very cool house! Came exactly as advertised. The quirkiness of older homes is what gives them their charm and character. Well stocked. Close to MSU. Safe area walking distance to restaurants and brew pub. Will definitely stay again

Lovely, quaint 2 br home. Nicely appointed with many extra conveniences for renters. Tea Bar & Bites restaurant in walking distance was nice lunch treat. Probably very busy if MSU in session.

Very nicely nice and conveniently located.

Great place with a beautiful maple tree in the front yard that provided an amazing splash of color on our fall, weekend getaway.

Pros: Really enjoyed the convenience of the location to MSU. It wasn't to loud. Kitchen wasnt super big but was just find for a weekend away. The cottage had lots of games to enjoy and a cool fire pit in the back. Could walk to Panera and other restaurants very easy.
Cons: Not really set up for senior citizens. My mother in law couldn't use the tub because it was a claw bathtub. Also recommend placing slip proof for little throw rugs.

Cute house in suburb location. Near food and drinks within walking distance. Very clean house and nicely decorated. Had fun exploring the city; history, Rte 66, Crystal caves, haunted Castle, beautiful parks and you must eat at the Peruvian Cafe!

I really liked this house, it was clean and the property was great to work with. The location was fantastic for out purpose. The biggest down fall for us was how load the traffic is, especially at 2:00-3:00am. Motorcycle traffic was the worst, the house can use some updates in the kitchen and bathroom, but it worked great for us and was reasonably priced.

Cozy Bungalow in Walkable Neighborhood
Nice well-maintained circa 1900 2 BR house was perfect for our needs while attending wedding in Springfield. Enjoyed neighborhood walks, glider on front porch, dining room, breakfast nook, living room, and private back yard. Selection of games entertained son and grandkids who visited that morning. Internet is slow, but 5G coverage is excellent.
