Martramane House did not meet the requirements of a "holiday home". It was far less comfortable than our own home and in need of improvement. I would describe it more as hostel accommodation.
No check-in details were provided; I had to chase them down in the hours before our arrival, which caused undue stress.
On arrival, the house was cold and all the windows were open. The boiler in the outside plant room had been turned off and we had not been told. We were left cold the first night and morning.
The accommodation is old with uncomfortable furniture. The property is sparsely decorated, which gave it a sinister air, far from homely. There were plenty of stained carpets, outdated fixtures and broken items. I would guess that no money had been spent on this house since the 1990s.
The area is lovely and I would visit again, but I certainly wouldn't stay here.

We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in Castle Gregory. We loved being able to walk in the town and enjoy the village. The house itself was roomy and had everything we needed for cooking meals and unwinding after a day of sightseeing. We were very appreciative of the property managers attention And the communication with the owners. Thank you so much for having us.

Castlegregory holiday
We had an enjoyable stay in Martramane House in Castlegregory. The house is old, but well located on the outskirts of the village (5 mins) walk to shops, pubs, restaurants. There are great facilities nearby, forest walk, hiking (mild to very strenuous), great scenery and stunning beaches with plenty of water activities for all ages. The sleeping accommodation is great, the living areas are spacious, the garden and parking is excellent. The views from the house are good and the welcome from the locally appointed agent is excellent - friendly, proactive and very helpful.

Nice location
overall the house matched what was advertised.
Location is great for easy walking access to village and beach but nicely located on quiet country road.
We did find the house abit damp but we could put on the heating which helped. Plenty of space for family with kids. Nice garden/outdoor space and plenty of parking.
The oven/hob was abit temperamental but it was manageable
Overalla good base for exploring the area.

Nice property, location and owner
Martramane House in Castlegregory was a very nice cottage in a beautiful location. It provided us a great hub to do day trips on the Dingle Peninsula during a three day stay. House was well supplied and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only quibble was that the internet service was not working, which created a problem due to a family health crisis back home.
We had a number of communications with Mindy the owner before and during our stay and she was always responsive and helpful. Would recommend this place to others seeking a scenic and secluded stay in the area.

Spacious house in Castlegregory
We stayed in Martramane House. This house slept 11 people and we found the bedrooms adequate for 11 people. the photos are true to reality. The living room and dining room were good too (plenty of space for us to sit around in the evening and sit to the table to eat), with another space, a sunroom to the front of the house. The kitchen was well equipped but the counter space is on the small side for catering for 11 people. There was only one bathroom (two toilets were separate) and this was very tight for so many people (this is why I have only given a 4 star rating). The house is well situated within walking distance of the village (small supermarket and 3 pubs there, as well as other usual village shops), and there are plenty of options for day trips, beach, swimming, mountain, scenery, golf, walking and other trips. Castlegregory itself is a beautiful area.

Great property!
We had a great time staying here! It is a very well kept and lovely place! My favorite area was the very spacious sunroom and the rest of my family loved the house as well. The people in the town were lovely! Moe's cafe had great full Irish breakfast. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Lovely home and beautiful views
We had an absolutely great stay at this home. It was easily the best part of a long trip. We loved the home, the town and the proximity of so many beautiful scenes. Some issues to be expected with an older home but overall a great stay!

Basic but Cozy
We stayed at Martramane house for 3 nights in September and found it to be very basic but cozy overall. There was plenty of room for 8 of us, including kids. The living room was a great atmosphere with the fireplace and the dining room was a nice size to seat us all. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. There are two toilets, however only one shower on the second floor. It would've been nice to have another shower to accommodate the first floor bedrooms as well. The house is located on a very quiet lane in the town. One thing we would've loved to see more of is the view from the house which is hampered by the tall hedges. Overall, we found it to be a nice gathering place after our daily excursions. We also really enjoyed NatterJack's pub in the evenings. The house is located a close drive to the ocean and horseback riding, which we loved!

Charming Country Home in Dingle with just the essentials
Mindy's home in Castlegregory is charming and cozy. It's surrounded by green fields and sheep - the views from the second floor are as picturesque as you can find. It's walking distance to the small town it's situated within and the Spar grocery store there. We drove to many of the main sights in Dingle in 30-45 minutes. The bedrooms and the bathrooms were clean and warm. The hot water was readily available, thanks to the instructions we were given upon check-in. The caretaker who stopped by also gave us firewood for the fireplace and fresh bread for breakfast. Very thoughtful!
However, you are in the Irish countryside, so arrive prepared for what you will find - such as minimal speed on the wifi, and dark streets without street lights after sunset. Also, the bathroom situation is somewhat awkward - there are no mirrors above the sinks in the two standalone toilets. There's only one bath for all the bedrooms and there's no lock on it (can be awkward when there's a large group using the same bathroom - a lot of knocking happened prior to entry).
Overall, we liked our stay though there are some add-ons such as mirrors and locks that would have improved the experience. Great place to stay to see Dingle at an affordable rate. Thank you for taking care of us so well Mindy!

Very old fashioned and nothing worked
Arrived to find a list of maintenance issues which included washing machine, dishwasher and VCR not working amongst other things, although bedding had been cleaned the duvet cover was stained badly. Garden hadn't been maintained the grass hadn't been cut or hedges, and absolutely no outside furniture whatsoever which is ridiculous as its a holiday let. Owner refunded to us the cleaning costs of 100 euro but didn't really compensate for the fact the place had been neglected. I have holiday lets myself in the lakes so I was reluctant to write a bad review however I think potential guests should be aware. I know the owners live abroad but that should be no excuse if charging and advertising as a holiday let in such poor condition, it needs money spending on it to give it more of a holiday feel and appliances should be working, it's only saving grace was its location to the village but that's about the only positive I could find

A perfect house to discover the Dingle peninsula

Fantastic location
Myself, my husband, 3 small kids and niece had a wonderful 2 week holiday in Matramane house. The location was perfect for us....within easy walking distance of Castlegregory village and yet it very much felt as though we were out in the countryside. A great base for beaches and day trips around the Maharees and Dingle peninsula....and an easy 20 minute drive to Tralee.
On the downside I think for the price I would have expected a higher spec'd house. The downstairs bedrooms (most likely an extension) and toilet were a bit colder than the rest of the house... We used a heater in these bedrooms....Also there was only one shower in the house....I was expecting more. The vcr player did not work and there was no dvd player and only basic tv. Luckily we brought our own dvd player. The upstairs banisters were far too wide for small kids so we got visitors to bring a stair gate which helped a lot. Also, the sheds at the back of the house were blocking beautiful sea view sunsets which was a real shame....a patio with simple picnic table and chairs replacing these sheds would be amazing..Finally the grass surrounding the house was overgrown so when we arrived all of our feet and shoes (including the kids) got wet on arrival!
Despite these few negatives, I would recommend this house. It has a real homely charm with a good sized living room and plenty of beds and all mod cons (bar channel tv/dvd). The owners kindly provided two travel cots and a high chair on request. In hindsight we should have requested a stair gate also. The agent was easy to contact and very helpful and promptly arranged for the heating to be fixed when it was not working for us...she also provided us with a heater for the babies room.
A bit of tlc would make this house a dream holiday home but overall as it stands I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Warm, clean and quiet
My kids and I spent four nights at the the Martramane House and found it to be charming. It was warm, clean and quiet and best of all situated in Castlegregory, a lovely little town on the northern coast of the Dingle Peninsula. Thank you for a great stay!

Great Family Holiday Option
Eight of us shared Martramane House for 10 days in October. Off-season so not many pubs or restaurants open, but we enjoyed the ones that were and found some new ones. Recommend Pisces. The owners had left a list of restaurants, and maps so it was easy to get around. Had fun cooking some meals at the house;pretty much everything you need in the kitchen to prepare a meal. Enjoyed shopping at the local grocery store and beyond during our travels. The local people are wonderful; we had so many lovely experiences and the beach is within 10 mins walk. Wonderful location and the beds were so comfortable. We were able to do day trips to Tralee, Dingle (the whole peninsula), Killarney; plenty of hiking available. Just a magical place.
