We had a wonderful week at Melissa's cottage on the lake. It was fun to be right in the narrows and by the boat launch - lots of activity! Also great to be within walking distance to ice cream, the grocery store, and restaurants. Awesome location. We had plenty of space - the bedrooms are spread out so that you're not on top of each other. The dock was perfect for our pontoon boat. Kitchen had everything we needed. The only thing we felt was missing was a second fridge/freezer, but we made do by keeping drinks cold in coolers. Would definitely recommend for large families!
4.9
The house was perfect for our family! Clean, fully equipped with everything we needed for our week. The area is lovely. So much to do outside along with many cute little shops and good restaurants. We loved the fact that we could bring our dogs. Not far from Traverse City or Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved it!

This was a beautiful home with every amenity we could have hoped for. The decorating was lovely, & the home was immaculate. We enjoyed the spaciousness of all the rooms. The back covered deck was a great feature with lots of chairs & great views of the water. The location was perfect for easy access to so many wineries & restaurants! A wonderful time was had by all! We would definitely recommend this home!

We enjoyed the house. It was clean and spacious. Great location. Walkable to town. Close to Traverse, Sutton’s and wineries.

This house was great for our family, lots of space to spread out, great location to get to other spots in leelanau and also traverse city. Would definitely recommend!

New Year’s Eve weekend couldn’t have been better. The house was in a perfect location, comfortable and clean.

House, location, and amenities were outstanding! Enjoyed long weekend with friend for wine weekend. House accommodated our needs and wineries, restaurants and stores are conveniently located and walkable. Summer rental would be terrific! Would rent again without reservations.

Large home, don’t believe it should be listed as a 5 bedroom, as there are not really 5 private bedrooms. The media room over garage has a bed and a closet with the bunk beds (which is 2 of the 5 rooms); these “rooms” are quite a trek to the nearest bathroom. The other 3 rooms were very nice.
Kitchen seemed well equipped and they have a pantry with spices and misc items you can use if you are comfortable with that.
Great dock and view of the lake. Grill, fire pit, outdoor seating all great. There’s kayaks available that looked great, we didn’t have a chance to use during our visit.
Great proximity to wineries and Fishtown and the downtown; right next to the public boat ramps.
Overall happy with our stay other than not truly a 5 bedroom in our opinion.

This house is very roomy, will sleep 12 comfortable, plus couches. Clean and plenty of supplies. Just bring clothes. Highly recommend.

Great location, great property. Beautiful views, spacious, clean, well-stocked home. Walking distance to Lake Leelanau restaurants and wine tastings. Short drive to Lake Michigan, wineries, and hiking trails. Also, loved spending time at the beautiful house, sitting on the dock, and soaking up the fall sun and the scenery. We had an amazing time and looking forward to next time! Appreciate our host who gave us so much great information about the area.

My husband and I, our daughter and family, our son, and a family friend immensely enjoyed a week at The White Birch Cottage. The area was great for visiting Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport and Traverse City for shopping and eating. Also enjoyed the many wineries around us. There was much to do at the house as well: ping pong, cornhole, relaxing in the yard with barbecues and campfires. The lake was enjoyed for kayaking and canoeing. And loved renting a pontoon boat for an afternoon. The Leelanau area was delightful!
4.9
The house is a bit weird in the layout, but the kitchen is very well supplied and plenty of sleeping room. Moldy smell
We enjoyed the lake via jet skis and kayaks/paddle board because the bottom here was super mucky. The beds are comfy and lots of water AV. ETC

Very nice house. Need to replace mattress on beds upstairs. Had a very nice stay and a great time.

This is the second time we have stayed at the White Birch Cottage, and it again did not disappoint.
The home is clean, comfortable and right on the Narrows.
We had easy docking access at the home.
We love having meals on the deck with the water in plain view.
The kitchen is well stocked and there are also lots of extras-Kayaks, ping pong table, lake toys, Kids books and board games.
We had a small problem with the toilet, and we notified the owner, who came by that evening to assist. The plumber was there early the next morning, and the problem was fixed within minutes.
We love staying at the White Birch Cottage and hope to visit again soon!

We had a wonderful stay, thank you for sharing your home. The living space and bunk room above the garage was a great haven for our four teenagers. The boat launch next door made it super easy to rent and dock a boat out back. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the days outdoors boating, hiking, biking the Leelanau trails from Suttons Bay and wandering around Northport and Leland. At night we enjoyed making S’mores and playing cards around the table, plenty big for all 9 of us. We love this area so much and will definitely be back. Our host Melissa was great and had great communication. Thanks again!

White Birch cottage was the perfect choice for our annual July family vacation. The cottage felt more like a home than a rental. The kitchen was well stocked and the home was super clean. The bedroom layout allowed my the family to spread out and have plenty of space.
We really enjoyed the activity in the Narrows! We thought the boat landing next door might be noisy but the thoughtful landscaping around the cottage really insulated the spacious yard.
We also appreciate the various notes and instructions Melissa left in the cottage.
We are looking forward to returning to White Birch!

We booked this home for family to stay with us during our son's wedding. This house was everything advertised and more! The house was beautiful inside and out, and well appointed! The kitchen was fabulous and we made a full breakfast on two different days, with comfortable seating in the dining room. The bedrooms were so comfortable, and the various options in the house suited our group. We enjoyed the family room - just a great place to sit and talk. We loved the view, and location and access to the lake. Members of our party used the canoe and kayaks! We felt spoiled being there and Melissa was easy and responsive to contact. I just wish we'd had more time to be there! Only suggestion: fishing poles might be nice. It was a perfect place to stay and we feel fortunate to have found it!

This house has a very quirky layout that actually ended up working very well for our group. The bedrooms are all separated, which was nice for noise control. My husband and I traveled with our adult son and our adult daughter, son-in-law and their 3-yr-old son. Our grandson LOVED the bunk beds, and the separate bunk room worked well for them. Keep in mind the house has central air downstairs, but the two upstairs rooms have room air conditioners. Turn them on as soon as you arrive, and the bedrooms will be cool by nighttime. We were there during an unusual heat wave, and the bunk room stayed warmer than the rest of the bedrooms. Our grandson didn’t mind, and I doubt any kids would, but it might be uncomfortable for adults. The kitchen is large and very well-equipped with nice appliances and lots of tableware. There are nice bed linens and plenty of towels, and having a canoe and kayak was wonderful! There are also lots of games in the media room and several books around the house. It’s in a great location close to Sutton’s Bay and Leland, trailheads, beaches, shops, restaurants and grocery stores, and you can walk to a coffee shop, bakery and bar. All in all, it’s a perfect for a multi-generational, big group!

This was the perfect place for 10 adults to stay and explore the Leelanau Peninsula. The property is on the Narrows that connect north and south Lake Leelanau and has a nice dock with seating, plus in the garage there is a canoe, two-person, and one-person kayak to enjoy the lake. Sunsets on the dock were beautiful. We felt a little bad about it but we never walked to Lake Leelanau town just 100 yards away to visit those wineries, the distillery, and shops. But you could easily spend a weekend at the house without ever using your car. If you aren't familiar Lake Leelanau town is in my opinion one of the best locations on the peninsula, just 5 miles to Leland/Fishtown one way and 5 miles to Suttons Bay the other way. Wineries are everywhere within a 10- mile radius, we did a tour and visited Mawby, Two K Ciders, Blustone, and 45 North that were all fairly close. The house had everything we needed, beds were great, fireplace is nice (heats up fast), TVs are fine. Bring your own games if that's your thing, we couldn't find any. One small suggestion that I've encountered not only here but at other pretty nice VRBO rentals--the toilet paper was horribly cheap one-ply, if you're picky bring your own. I don't know why these beautiful houses with every amenity supply the "crappiest" TP you can buy (pun intended). This small issue aside, do not hesitate to rent this house and I doubt you will find anything as nice and centrally located for a similar price.

Great location for our large family to be together. Home was clean and we had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the Leelanau peninsula. Best discovery was the Northern Latitudes distillery next door. By far the friendliest and they had amazing cocktails! Boathouse Vineyards was also really nice! Not fans of Soul Squeeze Cellars. Overall great location, great home. Very relaxing weekend.

We visited with a group of 10 (5 couples) and this house was perfect. Each couple had their own space and we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Fireplace is so cozy and views of the river are great! Super close/walking distance to great wineries and restaurants, short drive to many other wineries. Overall wonderful stay!

This property certainly didn't disappoint. It was extremely clean, well appointed and spacious for all. The property was amazing with all the amenities. We had a wonderful mini vacation and enjoyed the nearby wineries and restaurants. Would highly recommend this property.

Family Fun
We stayed on this property and loved the location! Close to all the picturesque towns of Leelenau. Just a short walk from property to downtown Lake Leelenau. Being at the narrows, we thought it would be louder/busier. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was (even with public boat launch next door). With the landscape, there was a lot of privacy for our family to just relax and have fun! The home itself was clean, well stocked in regards to kitchen and bath items. The kids enjoyed a few canoe rides and the adults enjoyed the kayaks. No complaints! Several members of the family felt the listing didn’t give the property justice, as they were excited for the trip, but even more pleased once we got there. I highly recommend this stay, especially in the summertime!
