Fishing and crabbing from the middle to the end of our dock ... swimming for the kids in 2-3 feet of water (on a sandbar that goes about a third of the way out the length of the pier - at the end of the pier the depth is about 7-8 feet of water) and kayaking (2 kayaks - LL Bean Ocean Kayak Malibu Two Package and an LL Bean Single person kayak) on the river which is as wide as a lake and feeds into the Chesapeake Bay about a mile or two up. Community beach and activities ... several great seafood restaurants within10-15 minutes.
Our vacation home features uncluttered living space with open family floor plan with Chromecast 55" TV in living room - just perfect for a family vacation. Our family loved our stay here! We highly recommend it and look forward to visiting again next summer.

Great place to bring the family and relax on the water.

The house is great and looks just like photos. Owner very helpful and walks you through house on the phone upon arrival. Crab traps, swimming, kayaks, & fishing off pier kept my kids busy. Easy drive to Annapolis, Baltimore, & Washington DC.

Property was just as listed- absolutely beautiful house- great for Commissioning week with family- everyone commented “what a great house!!!” John (our house) went above & beyond prior to us arriving (answering my million and one questions) & ensuring we had everything we needed (I asked about camping chairs and a small cooler to watch the Blue Angels at USNA & John made sure we had them even buying 2 new chairs)-just WOW!!! Definitely understand why he has all 5 star ratings- thank you John for helping us have the perfect Commissioning Week experience!!!!!

We booked a weekend Easter getaway to check out the area. The property is exactly as described. Probably even better. The owner has fantastic communication and was really kind. I wish I had more people with me to enjoy the beautiful home. We loved taking the kayaks out each morning and the neighbors were even really really friendly. We definitely recommend this. When the water is warmer, we will probably be back.

Our stay at this VRBO home was nothing short of delightful. The owner made us feel welcomed and at ease throughout our stay. The house itself was impeccably clean and comfortable. It was the perfect base for our visit since it was only a short drive to the Naval Academy. The beautiful views of the Magothy River added an extra layer of charm, especially during the spectacular sunrises that are absolutely worth waking up early for.
Additionally, this VRBO home proved to be an excellent choice for accommodating both friends and family, with plenty of space to spread out, yet still providing a cozy gathering place on the main floor for our entire group. Overall, this VRBO home provided a memorable and comfortable retreat, and we would eagerly return for another stay.

This was our second stay at this lovely home in Severna Park. John is a great host and the house is beautiful, clean & spacious. The great room is the perfect place for the family to gather, and has fantastic views of the water. It’s a great spot for family gatherings. We look forward to our next visit!

This house was very well suited for our extended family including an enormous, well-appointed kitchen, huge comfy couches in the LR and lower level family room, big rear porch with an awesome water view, even room to dock our center console. John was extremely flexible and very helpful with any questions or issues. Great memories!

This house is exactly as described and pictured. Its back view on the water is gorgeous. The dock area is serene. We had 4 kids with us and they had so much fun using the kayaks even though the water was freezing (we were there in early April). Every day we kayaked around, played in the water under the docks, etc. the house has everything you need to do that (paddles, life jackets of all sizes etc). The house itself is lovely and super comfortable. One thing to know depending on the size of your group is that the bunk bed room is in a tucked away part of the master bedroom— so not totally private. This worked well for kids but not sure it would be good for adults.
The location in Severna Park is great— super convenient to stores and restaurants but tucked away and quiet. We did a day trip to Annapolis and one to DC and it’s an easy drive.
We communicated with the owner ahead of time (and paid an extra deposit) to have a family brunch with family in the area. It was the perfect place to host! Highly recommend.
If you are looking to rent a place in Maryland I highly recommend this one!

We have stayed at this home twice now and had such a great experience both times. The house is lovely and the location is amazing. The best part was how kind and helpful the owner/manager was. John was always available to answer questions and made our stay so enjoyable. This home holds a special place in our hearts.

We rented John's house in Severna Park to host my family who had traveled from Ireland to attend our wedding.
Firstly, John is a wonderful host. Very friendly and smooth transaction from initial booking through to checkout. Super-easy and a thorough gentleman to deal with.
Secondly, his house is just stunning. Sitting directly on the water with stunning sunrises and equipped to the highest standards it's more than we could have asked for.
The house is ideally located in that it is secluded but within minutes of stores.
All-in-all a perfect experience.

Had a wonderful family gathering for Thanksgiving. John is a great host.

We were fortunate enough to rent this property for our family as a time of recovery after my husband’s major surgery. We used four of the five bedrooms, with the upstairs and basement also used as quiet work spaces for our son and son-in-law to work remotely, while a busy two year old could play in and outdoors. The views were spectacular, the weather and neighborhood perfect for little recovery walks for my husband. We even caught one crab! We would love to rent this property again.

Absolutely wonderful! John was extremely communicative and answered all of my questions promptly; because I live locally, he even met me at the house and let me walk through to check out the spaces. House was meticulously clean and extremely well-equipped. The views of the Magothy were spectacular, and we all enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The kayaks were also appreciated! The open main floor with its multiple couches and huge breakfast bar were perfect for our large group hangouts. I recommend that potential renters read the bedroom descriptions/reviews and look at the photos to make sure the layout will work for their group, as it’s not a true five bedroom house, but it was well-suited for our group. Thanks, John, for a phenomenal weekend in your charming home. We’ll be back!

I live in Texas (originally from MD) and was looking for a fun and convenient property to book for a week so I could see family and friends. The property was perfect for entertaining our many toddlers as well as the adults. We did a ton of fishing, crabbing, paddle boarding and playing in the beachfront entry. My brother-in-law was able to launch his boat easily from the doc. The large spacious kitchen was perfect for our larger group and everyone was able to sleep comfortably. John was available to give us a tour upon our arrival and was easily accessible via text throughout our stay. I'm moving back to MD myself otherwise, we'd absolutely book again!

This was a beautiful , immaculate, spacious home for our family of 6 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 3-12 years old. The house was modern, clean and comfortable and well provisioned for a large family gathering and we appreciated the well equipped kitchen and bedroom arrangements with the kids rooms close to the parents. The host was responsive to every inquiry. We enjoyed kayaking every day and fishing off the pier. Two kayaks were available with the rental and we brought another with us. We had hoped to enjoy swimming off the dock but the water around the house and in the river were FULL of stinging jelly fish! We were able to swim at the YMCA just a mile from the house and we made use of that on the very hot August afternoons.

Our family of 10 (ages 4 months to 76 years) spent a wonderful week here on the Magothy River. We were somewhat high-maintenance guests, as we had questions before we arrived and problems with our boat once there. But John was prompt in replying to our questions and attentive to our needs in every way, yet giving us the peace and privacy we needed as a family. He really was a perfect host in every way.
The property is lovely. As the pictures show, the scenery is breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset, every bit as beautiful as sunrises and sunsets at ocean places we have visited. We cruised the river in the evening on water as smooth as glass and almost deserted of other boat traffic.
One family member is an avid fisherman and went fishing every day, catching perch that were delicious in the grand crab boil that he prepared for dinner one evening.
This property and its many resources offered some unusual opportunities for us, particularly the children. Our 8-year-old granddaughter really blossomed on this trip, finding new interests in crabbing, fishing, and kayaking, all things she had never done before.
We have rented many other properties and found this house to be particularly well equipped, providing many things that we typically had to bring: linens, soaps, cleaning sprays, hand sanitizer, dish pods. John really thought of everything!
One of the most important things to us as a family is being able to share meals as a group. The photo of the dining table makes it appear that only 4-6 can be seated at the table. But no worries! The table has a butterfly leaf system and a large window seat, thus easily enabling 10 people to be seated at the table.
The balcony in the master bedroom looks out onto the river, which enabled me to see sunrise in my jammies and then go back to bed for a few extra minutes! The beds are comfortable and we had no problems with sleeping arrangements. The full bunks are a bit odd and, unfortunately, unless you have a family of 4 willing to sleep off the master bedroom, the bunk room was not as functional as we might have liked. Small matter, though.
We spent many evenings on the porch, which, surprisingly, was not uncomfortable even in July because of two well-placed and very effective ceiling fans, also keeping down the bug population.
To summarize, this is an excellent property with a gorgeous location, plentiful activities, many amenities, and an attentive host. Thank you, John.

Gorgeous sunrises and waterviews
One of the best family vacations. The house was beautiful - very spacious and comfortable. Loved the views from the family room and master bedroom. The whole family enjoyed kayaking, sunning on the dock, and swimming/floating in the water. Visted Annapolis and DC. Enjoyed the fireworks from the dock. John, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely come back again.

Love it !
The house was the perfect location, close to downtown Annapolis but nicely secluded with beautiful views of the water. watching sun rising and sun down every day. It was well equipped with a variety of activities to include kayaks, crabbing cages and fishing rods . The most enjoyable thing to do is fishing and crab on the pier in the back of the house. This is an absolutely beautiful home. We will definitely come back again!

Amazing views of the Magothy River
John was wonderful to work with from our very first message. He answered numerous questions before our arrival, called me when we arrived at the house to walk me through everything, and checked on us throughout the week.
We stayed here for my son’s Commissioning Week from the US Naval Academy and it was just perfect. We were removed from the craziness of DTA but an easy commute to get him back and forth for his commitments.
The views from the house are breathtaking. The house itself is clean and comfy. Plenty of cozy beds for everyone. Everything you need for family meals, swimming in the River and laying out on the pier.
We loved our stay and will cherish the many special memories we made this week.

Great views
Being on the river with a dock made for beautiful sunrises and views. The first floor is open space and worked great for cooking and socializing just the 5 of us as well as those evenings when we had additional family over. The bedroom layout is best suited for families with younger kids as one of the bedrooms is inside the master bedroom and another has bunk beds. The basement bedroom/game room was a hit with my 20-something kids.

Best homeowners ever!
We loved our stay in this house--it is so well set up, and charming both front and back, inside and out. The views over the water are so terrific!! And what a great location--we have enjoyed exploring Baltimore, Annapolis, St. Michael's, DC, Old Town Alexandria, as well as some fun restaurants right near here, a beautiful bike trail, nearby hikes...such a great trip!! But the best part of all for this rental are the homeowners themselves--they have been so kind, so attentive, so appreciative of our loving their house as much as they clearly do...a true pleasure to work with, and real stand-outs on the vrbo scene. We have loved it all!!!

Relaxing Retreat
All four of us really enjoyed our stay at this house. We spent most of our time in the back yard crabbing, fishing and just talking around the table. The house is beautiful, and the location is perfect. John is a wonderful host; and we hope to stay there again.

Life-Long Memories
We had a wonderful experience here with our friends and family. Finding something safe and fun to do during this pandemic has been a challenge for urban parents, but this place had everything a city parent could possibly hope for: a dock for crabbing (including crab traps), kayaks and life jackets for swimming and boating, a basketball hoop for some pick-up games and a nice ping pong table in the fully finished basement.
The house itself was well stocked and very clean. There were abundant towels, spices and cooking condiments, garbage bags and detergent, everything you would need but wouldn't want to buy for a short vacation. The house also has a top class NEST central air conditioning system which kept the entire house cool and comfortable even during the muggiest, most unpleasant days.
Over the period of a week, my kids caught over a dozen crabs, including just by fishing them out with pieces of chicken tied to a string. We made amazing, wonderful memories that will last a life time. And the crabs were delicious!
Thank you John for hosting us! It was wonderful!

Great Boating Location
A picturesque view of the river from the covered porch made for a great place to relax and unwind when not out on the water. The house provided easy access to Annapolis which was only a 20-minute drive by car. The kitchen offers a great place to hang out and prepare meals as a family given the size of the breakfast bar/island. We also absolutely loved the new master bathroom with the double shower.

Great Home For Family Gathering
We planned a family gathering to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and this home exceeded our expectations. Everything about this home is warm and welcoming. The perfect location with beautiful views of the Magothy River. Kayaking, swimming and fishing right in your own backyard. The house is spacious and exceptionally clean. A welcoming place with soft towels, comfortable bedding and all the amenities we needed. The owner John was so helpful and informative and couldn’t have been a more perfect host. We had a wonderful stay. We highly recommend this property. We plan to go back.

Family Fun
We thought this property was great. It was very clean, had a large kitchen that was well equipped and large enough for 7 adults and one child. The bedrooms were comfortable and equipped with extra linens and towels, if needed. We enjoyed using the kayaks and just enjoying the view from the porch. It was a great place for our family to get together.
