Best Things to Do in Annapolis
With a nickname like the "Sailing Capital of the U.S.,” it should come as no surprise that Annapolis plays host to various water-adjacent activities. The warmer months are particularly buzzy around Annapolis Harbor and City Dock, the heart of the historic district.
If you’re visiting for the first time, a guided tour of the city is your best bet to cover as much ground as possible. In true Annapolis fashion, there are plenty of options to see the area by boat. Visitors who come aboard the Harbor Queen will explore Annapolis Harbor and cruise by the banks of the Naval Academy while learning about the city’s history and geography (tours are available from April through October). The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park also offers Skipjack history tours that provide additional information about the Chesapeake Bay and its ecology. Travelers who don’t quite have their sea legs can opt for a 60-minute trolley tour around the charming streets, marinas, and high points of the city. Access to the U.S. Naval Academy is limited, but it’s certainly a must-see spot when in Annapolis. Both public and private tours can be arranged through the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center.

If you prefer to discover a new place on your own, be sure to walk down brick-paved Main Street and pop into its shops, art galleries, restaurants, and bars. One block away, you'll find State Circle and the Maryland State House, the only state house to have served as the nation's capital and the oldest state capital in continuous legislative use. Further out in the Annapolis Design District — about two miles from State Circle — numerous murals decorate the city. From the 7,000-square-foot Breonna Taylor mural (located at 14 Dorsey Avenue) to the Carlester “Walking Man” Smith mural (found at 1100 West Street) that honors a local who spent 40-plus years cleaning up the trash from Annapolis streets, these murals can be appreciated via a self-guided walking tour.

The house was even nicer than in photos or descriptions. The house very spacious, the pool and pool area were perfect for our needs. The hosts were very gracious, communicative, and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this property.

We stayed at the cottage for a week in late July and could not have been happier! Beautiful house, lots of room to spread out, well appointed kitchen and comfortable beds and furniture. The back yard was paradise with several different sitting areas, plenty of toys for the pool and room to play. The entire family loved the pool as we swam at least once a day the entire week. Location was perfect for day trips to DC, less than an hour each way. Local restaurants were excellent and downtown Annapolis is beautiful! The owners were very responsive at every point in the process and provided a great welcome package complete with a TON of recommendations for local spots to check out. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The property was very clean and well decorated. You could tell care and love is placed into the house and landscaping. The backyard and pool area is gorgeous! Despite unlucky/rainy weather and temperatures in the 60s, the pool was heated so warm that we went in everyday with the kids which was so nice. Annapolis is very close by. Plenty of fluffy towels, comfortable beds, nice small touches of welcome goodies and quality soap/shampoo, etc.

This is our third summer staying at the cottage. It's just a great house for family vacations. Four spacious bedrooms, a modern kitchen, a super comfortable tv room ... and the heated salt water pool! The house is super clean and the backyard is beautifully landscaped and appointed. And if that wasn't enough, guests are welcomed with an amazing gift basket on arrival. Perfect, private family getaway!

The love and care put into this home is just amazing. The house was perfect for grandparents and kids to enjoy together. The pool is great and layout of the house really great. Very clean and well cared for. And the host Katie really rolled out the red carpet for us with warm welcome messages, very easy instructions, immediacy of responses and even a gift basket. Our kids had a blast and parents enjoyed everything. So close to Annapolis, the beach and crab places. Loved it all!!!

We loved our stay here. We had a week getaway just for the girls. Plenty of room to spread out. House was amazing, very clean and nicely decorated. It was a hot week and the outside area was amazing especially the pool. Katie was great to work with and answered any questions we had before arriving. The cute welcome basket was a nice surprise as well. We would highly recommend!!

Amazing house with a private pool
This is our 2nd stay at this house. The first time was with our family, and this time just my wife and I stayed here. The 2nd time did not disappoint! This is a nicely designed really clean house, with a nice heated pool and a beautiful property. We would love to rent again!

Absolutely top notch.
This was by far the best Vrbo experience we've had. Every aspect of our stay, from the welcome basket with fresh cut flowers and goodies to the cleanliness of the house, exceeded our hopes. The saltwater pool was pristine, and it really defined the stay, but my 4 kids (ages 16-23) were oohing and aahing from the moment they walked in the door. There was plenty of room for everybody, and we loved hanging out in the open plan kitchen/living room, surrounded by natural light from the large, un-curtained windows. I'm a sculptor, so I appreciated the clean, contemporary look of the interior, the marble countertops, and the overall feeling that everything was done the way you hope for in rental, but don't often find. Katie, the host, answered the few questions we had promptly and was extremely welcoming.
Definitely a five star experience.

A wonderful retreat!
We stayed here with our family (4 kids ranging from 2-14) and had the best time! The house is very spacious, plenty of room for a large family or group of friends. The outdoor area and pool are so perfect and peaceful - really feels like a private retreat! Relatively easy to get to downtown Annapolis. Katie left the sweetest welcome basket for us - everything was very thoughtful and wonderful. I would highly recommend this place!!

Another great stay!
This is our second time staying here and it was even better than the first. We travel a lot and this is one of our favorite homes, its so well-appointed and comfortable. Katie is a gracious host and so accommodating. There are wonderful restaurants close by as well as shopping. Very close to the Naval Academy. This home is so wonderful you won't want to leave.

Great stay (again)!
For the second consecutive year, we spent about a week at Katie’s house. Once again, the house was immaculate with everything you need for a getaway with friends and family. The saltwater heated pool is the perfect all-day fun for kids and relaxing for grownups too. There are lots of places to gather together inside and out. And there are quiet spaces where you can curl up with a book or watch your tablet. Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby. Katie, the owner, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. It was an all-around great stay once again!

Girlfriends getaway
We had such a wonderful week at Katie's house. She is such a great host and was so on point with all of her recommendations, especially when we asked about private chef recs, restaurants and things to do. She was very quick in getting back to us with all of our numerous questions throughout the planning process and during our stay. The house itself was immaculate, comfortable and everything was exactly as described online. We really had a wonderful time and highly recommend Katie and her home!

Beautiful home, pool and garden and five star hosts!
Our family reunited at Katie's home for a long weekend and we couldn't have had a more welcoming and happy time. This house experience is a gem! The house and grounds are exactly as pictured...airy, tasteful and impecablly clean. The heated saltwater pool was the dazzling highlight of each day for adults and kids alike, but we appreciated every detail of the thoughtful outdoor space from the lush private garden to the lovely lounge spaces. Indoors, everything is well cared for and ready to go, from clean linens to kitchen appliances to TV stations and the washer and dryer. Katie knows the area well and gave us plenty of local tips for groceries and activities. And to top it off, there was the most incredible welcome basket of local foods when we arrived. We were truly charmed! Thank you so much.

Amazing Getaway
We had the best time at this charming cottage. The house is beautifully designed and so relaxing to be at. Because I’m pregnant/COVID we stayed at the house the entire time. The pool was so much fun and the house layout is perfect to enjoy time together as a family. Katie is so kind and accommodating. Surprised us with wine and goodies. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you again Katie.

Staycation better than we dreamed!
I had super high hopes for our first, 6 day family staycation after the tough restricted year we’ve all had and our experience exceeded expectations! We only live about an hour away but wanted a house with a pool to enjoy with two small families (each two parents and one child). We didn’t even know it when we booked but we also live in the cicada epicenter in MD so we were hopeful that this home would get us a break from that and it truly delivered.
Pros:
-Awesome heated saltwater pool and BEAUTIFULLY landscaped yard
-Several comfortable outdoor seating areas
-Clean, Clean, did I say Clean! Such peace of mind from this
-Amazing welcome basket and treats that had something for everyone
-Nice privacy from other homes in the area
-Super responsive owner (we only had one inquiry involving a short internet outage that Katie quickly helped us resolve)
Again, you will NOT be disappointed in this place but a few things to consider depending on what type of trip you’re planning:
-Pots/Pans - I cooked probably two meals almost everyday and we were there (6 days) so I definitely needed some additional cookware, a bigger pasta pot, 1 larger skillet, measuring cup. If you’re not cooking a lot this won’t be an issue.
-Beds: the king bed and the downstairs bed are SUPER comfortable. The other two are pretty soft so adults might not be thrilled about those for longer stays.
-No outdoor table to eat: We ordered crabs one day and ate outside but it was pretty difficult without a dining table outside. Next time I would bring a folding table.
This house and the owner is amazing. You will not regret booking this one. My only wish is that there will be days available for us to go back soon! Thanks to Katie for sharing her home with us!

Beautiful House, Wonderful Vacation
Our families were looking for a local getaway--a place close to where we live but with a pool and other amenities--and we found this and more at this house. First, the house was spotless when we arrived and stocked with all of the household items (kitchenware, linen, tv and speakers, w/d, great wifi, etc.) we needed for a comfortable stay. Second, the house is very well laid out with many different places, inside and out, for those staying to gather or have quiet time alone. Third, the backyard is amazing -- there's a grassy area, two shaded seating areas, a dining table, and the pool, surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Our families spent the bulk of our time between the modern kitchen with plentiful seating and the fenced in backyard and had a blast. Katie was an attentive and responsive host, welcoming us and ensuring we had everything we needed during out stay. With the weather hot, the sun shining and everything we need at our disposal, this house could not have been a better spot for our "local" vacation!

Cottage
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The home is beautiful and just like the pictures (but even better in person). There was ample space for all guests. The pool area was our favorite place to hangout all weekend. The only time we left the house was to go to the grocery store which was right down the road. Katie was very nice and available all weekend long. I have stayed in many rentals and this was by far the best one. I definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away.

My wife, my 3 kids and I rented this amazing house for a few days for our family summer getaway. The house was really nicely decorated and clean. The hosts thought of everything, and made us feel really welcome. The communication was really great as well. The pool was the main focus of our stay. It was well heated and loads of fun! I would highly recommend this house.
