About this apartment rental
We have loved vacationing at this resort for years, and are very grateful to have the opportunity to share our Maui home. Papakea is a low density, oceanfront resort, located on 13 tropically landscaped acres, 1 1/2 miles north of Black Rock on Ka'anapali Beach. Our direct oceanfront condo, Papakea A109, is a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, fully equipped corner unit with lots of natural light and split air conditioning system, cooling both the living area & bedroom. Our condo is located on the ground floor, with convenient, adjacent parking. It boasts ocean views, and opens directly onto the lush tropical lawns, just 30 steps to the ocean! It faces northwest, which allows for the morning sun, yet it stays cool throughout the day. Open the large glass sliders onto the lanai, set with a dining table and 4 chairs, to access the beach, manicured lawns with meandering Koi Ponds, fountains, oceanfront pools, spas, putting greens, shuffleboard, & gazebos. 2 lighted tennis & pickleball courts and BBQs are located on-site for your pleasure. Our condo sleeps 4 and is designed to make your vacation stay as if you were at home. The newly upgraded bedroom features natural light during the day, and black-out woven wood window coverings for nighttime privacy. The room is outfitted with a new Cal-King Mattress, whisper-quiet Split A/C unit, dresser, closet, and ceiling fan. The living area has a newly installed Split A/C unit which circulates quiet, air conditioning throughout. The living room offers a new Queen pull-out sofa bed with 7-inch foam mattress, new 55" wall-mounted flat-screen TV with upgraded cable, free WiFi, ceiling fan, dining table, 4 chairs, & breakfast bar with stools. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, with no tub. Our fully equipped kitchen features all new stainless steel appliances including a 4-burner glass-top stove, oven, large fridge and freezer with an ice-maker, microwave, and even includes a dishwasher! We love to cook, and keep the condo stocked with all of your culinary needs including pots, pans, bake ware, coffee maker, blender, toaster, and even spices! We have included a washer/dryer and a small safe for your convenience. We love the outdoors, and in the closet you will find beach chairs, umbrella, an ice chest, and golf putters to test your game on our resort greens. Our policy allows cancellation outside a 60-day period prior to arrival, with an immediate refund less a 10% cancellation fee of the total reservation amount. Any cancellations made within the 60-day period without sufficient notice may result in forfeiture of deposit. Owner will make every attempt to re-book the property. Should owner succeed in re-booking this time frame, we'll be glad to refund any pro-rata share, less the 10% cancellation fee of the total reservation amount. Please note that VRBO/HomeAway's policy states that if you cancel a reservation, and a partial refund is issued to you by the property owner, the "VRBO/HomeAway "Service Fees" including any booking, payment processing and service fees will not be refunded. Papakea Resort charges a daily facilities fee of $25.00. The fees include a package of amenities including; parking for one vehicle, weekly Mai Tai party with live music & hula entertainment, free WiFi & Internet access with the use of your own device, complimentary local phone calls, use of the putting greens, tennis & pickleball courts, shuffleboard, Gazebo, lighted poolside BBQ's, and oceanfront yoga & swim aerobics classes. These daily resort facilities fees are payable directly to Papakea Resort upon check-in. I have nothing to do with these fees, but I wanted to alert you to them.
CLEAN & DISINFECTED: Our condo is professionally cleaned and sanitized by trained housekeeping and maintenance staff according to CDC guidelines and recommendations. Complete systematic cleaning protocols between guests guarantee no cross-contamination. Wearing gloves and masks, they use hospital-grade, EPA approved disinfectants. All surfaces are sanitized, and all linens are processed in commercial, high-temperature washers and dryers. Only one staff member at a time who has been verified with no signs of illness, is allowed to be present in the condo. While undergoing cleaning, the windows are opened to provide maximum ventilation. After the condo has undergone cleaning and sanitizing, it is inspected by the head-housekeeper to insure all guidelines and protocols have been completed.

This condo is on the far end of the resort. It makes it nice because you don't have people setting up chairs in front of you. A pair of stairs to the beach are right in front of the condo as well. Condo has a pull out couch, washer and dryer as well as fans in the bedroom and living room. Dishwasher, ice machine in fridge, coffee machine, blenders, beach chairs, umbrellas, and a boogie board to use. Very nice. I would stay here again. Owner was very responsive and answered all questions immediately.

Nice condo on ground floor with good view. They had everything we could have wanted. The only missing item we would recommend is to provide a broom so we could sweep up. Air conditioners in living and bedrooms. Not sure why but you have to set the air at 74 degrees or higher. And we were worried that this would be too hot, but the room will be cold set at 74. The thermostat must not be very accurate. So no problem there.

The location is perfect! Watch whales from the Lani! Condo is well stocked with everything you need! The owner is wonderful! Would recommend this condo to anyone! Will definitely try to get back here again!!

We've stayed at Papakea multiple times in different units and always had a great time. This outstanding condo's location on the property guarantees significantly more privacy than many of the other units. Being on the ground floor meant easy access to outside without having to deal with elevators or stairs. The owner, Barbara, was always friendly and easy to work with. My wife and I look forward to staying here again in the future.

We had a perfect relaxing vacation in A109 it had all we needed and bed was very comfortable for good sleep! Very quiet end unit and grounds were beautiful.. we even had a small sandy beach right out our door.. owners were so nice and made sure our stay was amazing and it was!❤️🌴🐳

We have been staying at Papakea for the past few years and love the location. Our unit in building A was just steps from the ocean. The condo was nicely furnished with updated decor in a Hawaiian theme-none of your aunties hand me down furnishings in this place! The mattress was firm (maybe a bit too firm, but a foam topper would be a nice add on for aging backs), the kitchen was well stocked with necessities for meal prep, but you need to supply your own condiments, etc. The property manager, Barbara, was wonderful to work with--very responsive to a minor issue with the toilet, and she had great follow up. I would stay in this unit again, if available.

My husband and I had a lovely stay! The condo was in a great location and had a beautiful view of the ocean. It was nice to be on the first floor and be able to walk out to the ocean in seconds. The condo was clean and had everything we needed in it, even snorkel gear and beach chairs!

This unit is the best location! The grass outside is perfect for the kids to play! It's on the far side of the property so there is tons of privacy. The unit was clean and comfortable. The air condition add to the bedroom was a must! It had everything we needed for the week. Barbara was very communicative and went out of her way to make sure we had the prefect stay. I have stayed at Papakea many many times and will stay with Barbara again!

Ground floor and ocean front is a magnificent way to spend time on Maui, rain or shine. Access to small beach is steps away. Corner unit has lots of light and ocean view from the living room couch. Well stocked unit with cooking items and towels.

We absolutely loved our stay at Papakea! It was located in a beautiful community that provided lots of opportunities to relax, swim, play shuffleboard, snorkel, and just relax.
Barbara was a thoughtful communicator, giving us just what we needed to enjoy the area. Her check in directions were perfect.
The condo was just amazing. It was so clean and had everything we needed (including a blender for morning smoothies). The bed and pillows were so comfy!
We experienced no less than 25 whale sightings one morning and another 15 the next. It was so cool! Right from the lawn behind the condo.
Without hesitation, we would go back again!

We have been to Maui 10 times and this is our favorite place, Good location, close to Lahaina and the beaches next door, while providing a quieter, more relaxed ambiance. Easy walk to pizza, coffee, cinnamon rolls, dinner and the store. A great place to watch the ocean and laze away the day in the sun

We have stayed at this condo multiple times and absolutely love it! The view from the lanai is absolutely gorgeous, the property grounds are beautiful, walking distance to great shops and restaurants. The owners are absolutely amazing and so responsive. I highly highly recommend this condo!

We loved the location of this unit. It is steps from the beach and being the corner unit we only had a neighbor on one side and people weren’t usually on the lawn in front of our patio. It was great sitting out in the mornings and evenings having coffee or cocktails watching the ocean and sunset. The unit had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful setting
My two teen grandchildren and I stayed at this condo for 8 days. The condo is comfortable and has all the necessary amenities. We did not do a lot of cooking, but the kitchen was convenient for breakfast and lunch making. It is very close to The Fish Market (one block) which became one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner. Also close to the food trucks if you want something quick after a long day of hiking or snorkeling. We enjoyed eating at Dukes, Hula Girl and Sansei. We also attended the Royal Lahaina Luau which everyone enjoyed. There are several beach chairs and boogie boards to use. The kids enjoyed playing shuffleboard and swimming in the pool.
One of the best things Is. being able to just step out on the patio and view the ocean. The sunsets are magnificent.

Beautiful View!!
This property has an amazing ocean front view and sounds of the ocean. It could use some updating with furniture (or at least clean what is in there), and the unit wasn't very clean when we arrived. Had to dry the blanket to the bed left in the dryer and make up the sofa bed outselves.

An Amazing View
The unit is steps from the ocean and incredible views. There were a few hiccups as the unit was not ready at checkin time and pool towels were not given, but the owner got on the phone and took care of everything. My family had a great stay enjoying the beach and the pool which was just a short walk away. Not only that one of the days by the pool there were free mai tais, snacks, music, and hula show. It really made Maui that much more fun.

Magical!
This unit at Papakea was exactly as pictured and described, it met all of our expectations, and then some! We always had a place to park, restaurants & grocery stores are within walking distance, the grounds are well maintained, the pool and spa were very clean and refreshing. Right outside the unit, there is a walkway directly to the ocean for putting our toes in the sand, wading & snorkeling. We stayed in late March, and from the patio we saw whales every day, bright stars each evening and on the last day a beautiful rainbow! The unit was clean, very well stocked w/all the essentials, including beach chairs, a boogie board and snorkeling gear. The ceiling fans provided the perfect amount of air circulation, the hand-held shower head and water pressure were great, plenty of room in the fridge & freezer, which also had an ice-maker! Barbara was very responsive from beginning to end, I didn't have many questions because her communication is very thorough.. I would absolutely reserve with Barbara again!

I would recommend friends or family to stay in this condo for multiple reasons… it has amazing oceans views, beach gear to use if needed/desired (we spent quite a bit of time at DT Fleming Beach), and the condo seemed to be newly updated throughout. The only thing that we did notice that would need improvement was the WiFi. We did not mention anything during our stay because we unplugged from reality so it was not a big deal at all. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to come back sometime soon!
