The cottage is a hidden gem and it was unexpectedly pleasant place. This cottage feels like home with beautiful surroundings and unbelievable sunset view. Outdoor shower was special.
Kitchen is well stocked including lobster pot so we enjoyed cooking lobsters. Everything is included like life jackets with Kayaks, and boat and very thoughtful setup.
The cottage seems loved by owner and visitors for long time and have histories.
Loved stay there and we made beautiful family memories.

It wasn't the easiest place to find as it is definitely off the beaten path, but once you are there, it is peaceful, calming and a refuge from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life. Can't beat the view of the sunsets from the back deck! Lots of birds and wildlife on the property too! A true nature lovers paradise in one of the most beautiful places in the world, MDI.

We spent a week here at the cottage. It was very well stocked with linens, towels, and games. We made use of the kayaks and canoes daily, paddling out to various islands. It was wonderful to watch the sunset on the dock or at the cabin. We made trips into Acadia National Park, hiking Eagle Lake, Beehive, Jordan Lake, Gorham Mountain. Picked up groceries at Hannaford in Bar Harbor and cooked at the house. This was the perfect place for our family of 6 and would recommend this place to others!

The owner had a good response time. It was nice there were odds and ends available (paper towels, soap, etc). Good internet. Great view. We did not find a kayak which was disappointing. We found a rowing kayak but not something that you could take out by yourself. Also there was no boat. The place was also not very clean. I dropped something and looked under the couch.. gross. The couches were kinda gross and old. The rug in the living room was visibly dirty and when I played on it with my son, I had pet hair all over me…. We didn’t bring a pet. The dishes in the cabinet were also dirty.

We loved our stay in Seal Cove! Perfect place to access Acadia with a quiet reprieve at the end of the day. We enjoyed visiting Seal Cove Pottery nearby as well and exploring the shore at low tide. Thank you!

Wonderful cabin on the ocean. Many amenities and deck made the stay wonderful.

Pros - Great views. Cottage on quiet side of island.
Cons - Cottage needs a thorough cleaning (dust, spider webs, pantry dirty, some pots and pans dirty, etc).TV did not work, no big deal to us - but might be to others. Broiler element missing from oven. No motorized boat as stated in ad (main reason we rented cottage) and grassway to water needed mowing so could not use. No storage for guests food, Odds and end towels etc left in dryer wet when we arrived so had to dry and put away. Screens on back door would not stay on.
Not the rental we were expecting at all - but we made the best of it and had a fantastic time. Loved the fresh lobster from Hodgens!

The coastal view from the large deck alone is enough to make this a great place. Even the view up the drive is amazing. Would definitely stay again. I love staying on this side of MDI. Privacy, peace and quite, but close enough to Bar Harbor, hikes, etc on the other side (there is a neighboring sister property near by, but the cottage still feels very private). Only things to point out regarding the property description that need updating: the indoor fireplace/stove is gas (not wood burning) and I did not see any motor boat (maybe this is a seasonal issue as I was there in early June).

This property is absolutely beautiful!! 2 million dollar views from the deck of Seal Cove! Our family had so much fun just exploring the property and walking along the coast line. It was a absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful sunset from the deck on our last night there. I cannot say enough about the beauty and tranquility of this property!
The cabin itself was very comfortable and we felt right at home from the instant we walked in. There were also lots of extras, such as shampoo, hand soap, laundry detergent, small kitchen gadgets and even some cooking staples. The cabin was very clean w7thv

Absolutely loved staying here. Booked the cottage for 9 nights and had various friends come stay 2-3 nights with us at a time. Everyone loved it. Amazing views. Kitchen had everything needed to prepare food. Kayaking in the cove was an adventure. During our stay we saw various birds, jelly fish, seals (from the kayaks), deer, and turkeys. During the off season, that side of the island was basically empty. Do be aware that the cottage is small (for 8 people) and rustic. If that's your thing, it's perfect; if it's not, it might be disappointing. Absolutely would stay here again!

Pros: This residence is off the beaten path down well maintained dirt roads, overlooking a marsh with sunsets and wildlife. I saw deer every day, fox, turkeys, a pileated woodpecker etc. It is 30 mins from Bar Harbor & Acadia, 15 mins from Southwest Harbor. It is quiet, easy to get to, private and perfect for walking my dog .
The queen bed (the only one I used) was firm but comfortable. If you like softer mattresses, you may have a hard time. The great room was perfect. It was large, gorgeous views, plenty of seating. The wifi was good enough for me to work (with Video teams calls). The sheets, blankets and towels were clean, smelled fresh and soft. All the bedroom windows have room darkening shades and curtains.
Cons: The ad says check in is at 4. I got there at 5 and the cleaners were still there until almost 6. The ad says the kitchen is well appointed (and it is for potware, silverware, plates, glasses, knives, etc), but there were no paper towels, no Pam, no olive oil, no dishwasher detergent or sponge (there is a dishwasher and dishwasher soap but I'm alone and didn't use enough dishes to waste the water). There were no towels in the bathroom, I had to go looking. Ginny said she would ask the cleaners to bring me papertowels...I checked in on Saturday and they didn't come back until Tuesday so I bought my own. I bought some Dawn and a sponge for doing the dishes. It took some hunting to find the ceiling fan control (behind the microwave) and I wish there was a gate on the deck along the building where it narrows for my dog. I just laid one of the wooden chaise chairs on its side to block it off. I also wish there was a shade/curtains in the door windows.. it was cool at night and the only heat source is in the living room but the door window is close to the bedroom and the added privacy would have been nice. It was HOT on Saturday when I got there and I only found 1 small square fan. I can't IMAGINE what the loft must be like in the heat of summer. There doesn't appear to be any a/c or any other fans. There are many small lamps around the house that create ambiance and add light, but I would say it's not bright even when fully lit. The carpets could use replacing (stains/rips).
Summary: I would 100% stay here again, I would just bring my own stuff in anticipation of it not being there. The Cons, for me, are more annoyances and inconveniences because they forced me to go back out shopping again. But the location was breathtaking.

We had a wonderful time at our stay. The location was beautiful right on the water, the cottage was quaint but roomy and had personal touches all over by the owner. I really enjoyed looking at the lovely artwork of the surrounding scenery. My wife, my dogs and I can’t wait to return to Maine and stay here again!

My family and I went during the most beautiful time of the year. The fall colors were so vibrant and the view from the deck of the cabin made it even more enjoyable. Loved sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful scenery along with the many deer.

The property is in an amazing location. Incredible sunsets, away from the crowds and bustle of Bar Harbor and the rest of the island. And yet not too far from a grocery store, restaurants, etc.
The layout of the cabin and the deck were great. The beds were reasonably comfortable. And the location was SO quiet and peaceful. Note, though, that the walls are very thin....if a person in one bedroom is talking, you can hear it in the next bedroom as if they were in the room with you.
However, nearly every surface was sticky and/or dirty. The bathroom didn't appear to have been cleaned. The dishes, pots, and silverware all appeared to have been put away dirty. All rugs and furniture were stained and dirty. And no one appears to have ever cleaned/vacuumed under or behind furniture.
In addition, the listing states that the property has a TV. There was a TV, but there was no remote to actually turn the TV on. I contacted the listing agent, and she replied, "We don't generally watch TV when staying there."
At least the internet was a speedy enough to stream news and shows, we had a pretty good cellular signal, and the water pressure was incredible. All the appliances appeared to be in good working order (although dirty), and there was plenty of hot water for three people to take showers.
Still, despite the TV and the cleanliness, I would return.

This property has been the best we ever rented. Plenty of property to explore and walk our dogs. The cottage was great and plenty of space. Was very well equipped with supplies. Will definitely stay here again!

I was very glad to have read all the prior reviews, so I was prepared for most of the pros/cons...the view and setting were spectacular. The cottage is spartan, not an issue except for stained curtains, threadbare towels , etc. The oven is in desperate need of a thorough cleaning. The twin beds in both downstairs rooms are quite uncomfortable and have rubber mattress pads than make quite a bit of noise while tossing and turning! We were here for 2 weeks and will definitely return to the area.

Ginny's cottage was simply wonderful. Cozy and clean with UNBELIEVABLE views! The area is beautiful, quiet and secluded; we loved playing tennis on the clay court, reading on the porch, and meandering around the tide pools at low tide. 35 minutes to Park Loop Rd in Acadia and even closer to SW harbor hiking. Would not hesitate to recommend her space for anyone traveling to MDI!!

Loved this cottage for our 20th anniversary trip. We spent a couple hours exploring the tide pools right outside our door at low tide. Although this location is quiet and secluded, it was easy to get to all of the hiking trails and restaurants on MDI. Not a perfect view of sunset from the deck, but it was from the driveway. I took off one star for cleanliness because of the stained pillows and linens. They were clean, but stained, and definitely need an update. Other than that, I'd book again in a heartbeat.
