My family met in Maine to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. We were 6 adults and found the house more than accommodating!
I did not receive check-in instructions 24 hours before arrival, but Dwayne responded to me quickly and answered additional questions.
The home had everything we needed and was very clean. We appreciated access to the washer and dryer as it allowed us to do a few loads of laundry instead of packing a lot of different
clothing for hiking, going to dinner, etc.
The photos of the bedroom arrangements on the listing didn’t match for one of the rooms, which didn’t bother us. My parents have slight mobility issues and the tall sides of the upstairs tub were a bit challenging for them, but we figured out how to make it work. I only mention this for people who this would pose a problem for their stay.
This side of the island was quiet but still close to everything. Deer regularly visited the yard and we also saw turkeys in the neighborhood.
Thanks for a relaxing stay!

Property was not ready to check in at 5:30 on a Sunday evening so we could not even stay there.

We loved the trumpet lillies and the hummingbirds. House had plenty of space for our 7 and the location on Bass Harbor is blissfully far from the crowds of the park. Wunderland and Ship’s Harbor made for easy hiking/beach/rock climbing outings within two miles. The house is old but well maintained. Very glad that we found this gem.

This was our third stay renting a place on Mt. Desert Island, and our first time on this property. We stayed as two couples. Before arriving at the property I reviewed the listing extensively and messaged with the owner. Here is a very honest review! Overall, our crew had a wonderful time on the island and made the most of our trip; this review is relating to this property.
Pros:
The owner was responsive to questions upon arrival and got back to us within an hour.
Location to Bass Harbor Lighthouse was great!
Decent sized property.
Quiet neighborhood.
Loved watching the hummingbirds from the porch!
Cons:
Lack of working lightbulbs and lights that flickered throughout the house.
Carpets and furniture were stained.
Property was listed as having AC, upon arrival house was stuffy and there were two units for the entire house. Property manager did send over someone to remedy that, and we were appreciative.
House was damp with a mildew smell.
Floor not mopped prior to arrival.
Window broken in front bedroom, no one alerted before arrival. Back bedroom did not have blinds.
Drawer with silverware had loose food in it, all dishes/cutlery needed washing prior to use.
Overall, kind of disappointed with the house especially since we were upfront about our expectations. House was not worth the price. I wish I had seen an honest review such as this before we rented, so I am hoping this will assist other families/ make the property manager and owner make improvements.

We had a wonderful stay at this home! The house has everything you could need to relax and enjoy during your trip to Maine. The house is very quiet and we saw deer in the front yard! We loved the close proximity to many hiking trails in Acadia National Park.

Nice house, location about 20-25 minutes to Bar Harbor. Closer to Acadia Ntl Park. We enjoyed our stay. Stop at Walmart and grab supplies on way by = much cheaper! Local store has everything you need but at a price. Carpet needs cleaning everything else was great. Beautiful area to explore.

Excellent Stay for Our Large Family
Home had all the basics for our stay with 5 kids, including air conditioning. The screened in porch is perfect at night and in the morning. Drive to the end of the street for harbor views. Easy access to downtown Southwest Harbor. And Archie’s food truck on the water with some cornhole was a great stop.

What a relaxing Stay
Loved the relaxing stay. Flowers and yard was so beautiful. Loved the screened porch - so relaxing. Close enough to Acadia and Bar Harbor - far enough to be quiet and relaxing for all the family. My only regret is we didn’t stay longer. Thanks for a lovely stay

Tremont
We have always preferred to stay in the southwest portion of Mt. Desert island - because of the relative solitude if nothing else - but we have come to love the area as well. That being the case, this property is perfectly situated for us.
Beyond that, the property manager was super helpful and cooperative with our rather large family group.
We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend the accommodations highly.

Perfect for our group
Our family had a nice stay at Island Ferry. We had all the comforts of home. It was a perfect spot to unwind after hiking in the park. We had everything we needed to cook meals and places close enough for when we didn’t want to. Although we’ve visited MDI many times this was the first time staying on the quiet side and it was great! Dwayne is a very responsive host answering all my questions prior to booking and prior to arrival. I’m sure if we needed sketching during our stay he would have been just as attentive.

Quiet Property
Located on a quiet street in Bass Harbor. It was a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Southwest harbor is quaint and relatively quiet. Bring bug spray because the mosquitoes are terrible so we weren't able to enjoy the fire pit in the evening however, the closed in perch was nice. We had a great stay!

Great stay on the “quiet side”
Great communication with host on a few odd requests from our family. Super clean house and nice screened porch

The property was so inviting, especially after outdoorsy, active days hiking, kayaking, and enjoying new towns.
It felt welcoming and spacious enough.

Idyllic Mount Desert Island Home
Gorgeous Home Away from Home! Our 3 generation family enjoyed this beautiful retreat for 4 days. The beds and furnishings were so comfortable and we relaxed on the sunporch every evening. This was a great way to see all that MDI offers! Can't wait to come back!

Great Location
Very nice house, super comfy beds and amenities (TV with lots of options, games, fenced in area for our dog, etc.). Great location-not too close to the busy Bar Harbor side of Acadia but close enough to take a quick bike ride or hike at multiple locations.

Wonderful home for any sized group
Dwayne was incredibly responsive before and during the stay. He made sure to answer all of our questions and any concerns we had. The home itself was also wondeful - very spacious and tidy. 10/10 would recommend!

Visit to Acadia NP
My fiance, pup and i travelled to the area to explore Acadia National Park. While in the area we stayed at Dwayne's property and absolutely loved it! Super cute house, awesome yard and great location (20-30 minutes to everything)! We loved the master bedroom with fireplace! Super warm and cozy and bed was unbelievably comfortable! Our only hiccup was checking in. We followed provided checkin instructions, sent to us prior to arrival but key pad numbers didn't all light up. Service was hit or miss for us around the area but we were able to finally get out a message to Dwayne and received alternate instructions/method of entry. No problems the duration of our stay. Dwayne's restaurant, store and sight seeing recommendations were greatly appreciated as well! Thank you Dwayne~

Luxury in Sleepy Tremont
I've spent months and months on MDI in the past three years. I helped build my daughter's new home. I've stayed in at least five rental homes in this time span, and this wonderful home is the best one so far. If you're looking to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, you want this house. Period.
You're minutes from a quiet picnic at the Seawall turnout on 102A. You're minutes from quaint Southwest Harbor. Gott's store is just up the road and Hansen's Outpost is but 2 minutes from the house.
The master bedroom is huge. The bed is comfy. The master bath tub is great for soaking. It's a high tub that almost resembles a swimming pool.
It was bitter cold when we stayed here, but the house's boiler keeps it toasty warm.
You'll love your stay here. I guarantee it.

We had a great time staying at Island Ferry House and exploring Acadia! We walked to Bass Harbor Lighthouse and climbed to the summit of Cadillac Mountain in our snowshoes.

Wonderful getaway in a fabulous house.
Easy check-in. Dwayne was very to questions about the television. Immaculate accommodations. Lovely grounds. Beautiful master bedroom with a very comfortable bed and fireplace. Quiet surroundings. Quick walk to Bass Harbor. Wonderful hiking trails nearby. A short drive to Jordan Pond and other magnificent sights around the island.
Kitchen was very well equipped. Our cat Tasha was very comfortable too. The screened in porch delightful. We would definitely recommend Island Ferry and love to return ourselves. There was plenty of hot water and a washer and dryer. Many thanks to Dwayne and Nicolette for sharing their welcoming home to help us celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We love MDI and got a taste for the Bass Harbor side.

I have nothing negative I can say about this. Everything was great. Dwayne helped out through a rebooking, information, everything I asked. Going to Mt. Desert Island? Stay at this rental. Its that simple.
