This historic home in quaint Cape May Point, named Song of the Sea, is one of the "Five Sisters" - five identical cottages built at the Point in 1875 by Dr. J. Newton Walker, son-in-law of Sea Grove (former name of Cape May Point) founder, Alexander Whilldin. This is your perfect vacation spot just steps away from the beach. Stroll down the quiet street to Surf Avenue where a sandy path leads through the trees and up over the dunes to a wide white-sand beach with the Atlantic Ocean on the left and the Delaware Bay on the right. Lifeguards protect the beach in summer. In the evenings, watch spectacular sunsets as you relax on the beach.
The property has its original hardwood floors, large walk out windows, wrap around screened porch with wicker chairs and porch swing, and open 2nd floor deck. Be aware that the stairs to the 2nd floor are original and are steep. Use both railings as you go up or down.
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home can accommodate up to 7 people (six adults plus one child), and features a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, five individual mini split wall air conditioners, washer/dryer, street parking, fenced in back yard with outside shower, gas grill and patio seating area. Comcast cable and internet are supplied for your entertainment. You can easily walk to Pavilion Circle, a grassy park in the center of town where people gather to play volleyball and children's games during the summer season. Watch birds and butterflies during the fall migration. You can walk or bike ride to Cape May Point State Park where there are walking trails, a double deck bird observation platform, guided tours and informative hawk demonstrations (in the fall season). The1859 historic light house is still in operation. If you want a challenge, climb its 199 steps to be rewarded with stunning, one of a kind views, of the beaches, ocean and town. Walk to the Cape May Bird Observatory to stroll the birding trails behind the building. Inside is a great resource of birding information plus shopping for your birding needs. Lily Lake, in front of the Bird Observatory, hosts many bird and aquatic species.
Don't forget to visit Sunset Beach for the patriotic sunset flag ceremony honoring veterans each evening. While you're there join the search for the perfect Cape May diamonds. Enjoy your stay at Song of the Sea!

The house was absolutely lovely( except the pillows)
We could hear the ocean from the front screened porch. Cape May Point is a hidden gem along with this property.

From the minute I walked in I was in love. This 150 year old Victorian has been beautifully updated. All the areas of the house were totally geared to comfort. Loved the screened in porch furnished with comfortable furniture - a great place to have morning coffee and relax. The kitchen was totally equipped with everything you would need, and the bathrooms are top-notch. The property itself is exquisite - beautiful gardens, protected back yard, a shed to store your things, an outside enclosed shower, a shaded patio for outside dining, and a gas grill to boot. The location is perfect - less than a half a block to the beach. In addition the owner is a pleasure to work with - very responsive and a lovely person. Best house I have ever rented, and will again!

This historic house is lovely. It was built in 1875 but has been updated with all the modern comforts. The location could not be better, only a few steps from the beach entrance. The host is easy to communicate with and the house has a detailed information book. There is plenty of room inside the house and a backyard, a screen porch, and an upper deck for stargazing. All around a great spot.

This was our second year staying a week here. The house is exactly as listed and described. My girls absolutely love it and they feel like it is their own vacation home. It is right across the street from the beach and super convenient to run back and forth from the beach and the house. The location is a nice quiet break from the busy section of cape may yet still only a quick 10-15min drive to all the shopping and restaurants.

We could not have asked for a better stay for our family with young kids. Beautiful home, just steps from the beach, historic but updated with all the amenities you might need. The wrap-around front porch was perfect for breezy summer evenings, and the outside shower in the backyard was so handy to have with kids coming off the beach. Kitchen is well-stocked with appliances and utensils. The owner was very communicative and thoughtful. We’ve stayed in a number of other beach houses that felt like rentals; this one truly felt like a home. We hope to be back!

Lovely home. One of the few homes where the owner feels the need to keep it instead of knock it down and start over. Kudos to you Linda. I wish more owners felt the same. Don't expect super modern here, expect the feel of an updated original home that has been taken care of by its owner. A quiet place to put your feet up and relax. One of the few older homes that has not been replaced by the modern minimansions that have been popping up all over the Point. If you like the feel of an original home at the Point this is for you. Home is clean, has all the kitchen supplies you would need. A seating area in the backyard for your meals. The owner is easy to reach and is responsive. We have been renting this home for the last 3 years and look forward to our stay every year. Close to beach and close to town. On a rainy day you can go to some of the antique stores around the area. Our daily routine is to have coffee in the morning on the porch, a bike ride to town, back to the house for lunch, out to the beach for the afternoon, back out for dinner and wrap it up with an evening walk and then some quiet time on the porch. We leave all our worries behind for a week and feel rejuvenated and supper sad to leave when it is all over. Thank you Linda for allowing us to share your beautiful home again. We really appreciate it.

This was our second stay at Song of the Sea. It’s a beautiful old house with the perfect beach ambiance and lovely screened in front porch. The house was clean and the kitchen is well stocked. Best of all, it is only steps to a beautiful, uncrowded beach. The neighborhood is quiet in early June and there’s lots to do in neighboring Cape May.

We had a wonderful time at the house! We loved how close it was to the beach, and easily walkable to Lake Lily as well. The home was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. As the listing states, the stairs to the upstairs are quite steep (think climbing a ladder) but they are well lit and have dual railings. The screened porch is just fantastic, a perfect place for morning coffee or anytime to just watch the butterflies flit among the milkweed. There’s a nice outdoor shower and back deck area that made coming home from a day at the beach hassle-free. We loved our stay and hope to return soon!

The spacious wrap-around screened-in porch, floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the fresh air, and sleep-inducing late-night ocean sounds will not disappoint.

Had a lovely stay with my teens and in-laws. Charming house in a quiet, gorgeous section of Cape May Point.

We were pleasantly surprised with the persistent breeze in the house. The 9 1/2 ft. ceilings are helpful in that regard. The porch is great. I finished a book on the porch. The only caveat is that the steps to the second floor are sailboat steep. With railings on both sides they were manageable.

We had a great stay. The house definitely met our needs. Near the beach, the State Park, and Lily Lake. Not fancy, but everything worked, charming historic house, cute decor. The lockable shed was great for storing bikes. But I would recommend that the owner highlight the stairs more prominently in the listing. The treads are exceedingly narrow, making for a very steep, nautical-type staircase. You have to be very careful, particularly going down, and I worry that it could be dangerous for kids or elders (or anyone who is a little clumsy). Also, there is no off-street parking--but that was no problem, at least in October. If you are not intimidated by the stairs, I highly recommend the house.

Pretty historic home
This house is just steps away from the beach. It has a wonderful screened porch where we spent many relaxing hours. The house is very clean and nicely appointed. There ae several attractions within walking distance and it is just a short drive into Cape May from The Point. The owner was extremely responsive to any questions and we plan on booking again.

We very much enjoyed our stay with our two young children. The house is equipped with lots to start your stay and is a block from the beach entrance. The inside was a spacious three BRs and the outdoor screened in porch and swing and shower were great. Only thing to consider is there are no owner provided chairs or umbrellas so you need to bring a lot from home. Also for those who struggle to get upstairs or with young children, there’s a long steep set of stairs to get upstairs. However, it’s carpeted and there is a good sized bedroom downstairs. Linda was also a pleasure to communicate with and was very responsive.
Overall, a wonderful stay.

Best sleep all year!
This is our second year renting this property. The location is perfect! Barefoot walk to the beach, bike ride to Chez Michelle for breakfast, Washington Street mall for sidewalk sale, cape may point state park, Garrett Family Preserve.
Loved the porch swing, backyard grill, walkin shower. Be ready for the steap staircase. But to sleep with the doors open and hear the surf, can't be beat!

We've been renting in Cape May Point 2 x's a year for at least 15 years and this was our first time renting the lovely and historical Song of the Sea. It has become our favorite rental property in town. The location to the beach and the porches were what drew us to it yet the comfortable furnishings, well equipped kitchen, and cleanliness were also top notch. We loved the breezes coming in to lull us to sleep in the master bedroom then waking up with morning coffee and tea on the bedroom porch. By day, we walked everywhere in town, exploring every little nature-based nook and cranny of CMPT then enjoyed spectacular sunsets in the evenings. We love the peace and quiet of CMPT so dinners mostly included take-out from the delicious Cape May and West Cape May restaurants because we liked staying home. Linda is the perfect host and very communicative. We have already booked for same time/next year. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home, Linda!

Lovely welcoming Cape May Point home
We spent a wonderful week at Song of the Sea. The best thing about it is the screen porch and the ability to open up the living room to enjoy an indoor/outdoor living space without mosquitoes! Very close to the beach, clean and spacious. Our family loved it!

A beautiful house in a serene setting. If you want to get away (but not too far away) from the crowded areas and get to something more low-key, this part of the Point is definitely where you want to be. The house is one of the older ones in town (which is saying a lot down here), and it has been cared for beautifully over the years. Colorful yet classic, it's got plenty of space and everything you will need. We truly loved our stay here!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully kept historic home. The deck off the master bedroom is a delight in the morning and the screened porch on the first floor is a wonderful place to relax in the afternoon. Our party of five found there was ample space to both to be together and seek out some alone time. The kitchen is unusually well-equipped and easy to use. The small garden is beautiful and attracted butterflies throughout our stay. The street is very quiet and the beach access is excellent. We hope to be back very soon!

We had a great week in Cape May Point. The house was spotless. Layout was great for cooking at home. Beach was as close as you can get. We biked everywhere, spent lots of time on the screened in porch, grilled in the backyard. We hope to come back next year!
