This is an absolutely stunning property in a convenient, hilltop neighborhood that overlooks the southern part of Vieques. The patio and pool are top notch, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is well-appointed. The pool is the star here - it overlooks the Wildlife Preserve and ocean, and is plenty big enough for a proper swim. The location of this house is convenient to Esperanza and Isabel Segunda - about a 10 minute easy drive from each. As other reviews said, the road leading to this property is steep, but by no means unmanageable. I would 100% return to this home - thanks for an amazing stay!

The views are beautiful from the house. There is a pretty pool. The house is small but perfect for 2 people. It is tastefully furnished and clean. The gardens are lovely with flowers and palm trees. The outside needed to be cleaned up and the pool vacuumed. Angie, the manager tried her best to get this done and it was better after a week. The location is great between Esperanza and Isabel Segunda and just a short drive from the beaches.

Great hillside home with spectacular view. We enjoyed the pool and the location- easy to get to any part of the island. The hill and driveway require a sense of adventure, which we always pack when we vacation on Vieques. Minor bummer, the dryer was not functional but we quickly learned how to convert a chaise lounge into a drying rack. Would stay here again :)

Nice location with a good view but a little hard to get into the driveway. We enjoyed the pool in the afternoon. Nice quiet neighborhood. House was stocked with everything you would need for cooking and the beach.

As advertised, views amazing, House simple and basic for The two of us. Location is close to Isabel Segundo, beaches and Esperanza. Angie was attentive and super helpful, didn’t want to leave like all of are trips to this beautiful place.

I had no idea that the drive would be so treacherous.
The pool was 8 ft deep with no steps or ladder so was not used at all. The overhead lights in the bedrooms didn’t work. A tv would have been nice as we were unable to drive after dark because of the roads. We didn’t use laundry due to bugs. We didn’t get there til the 24th due to plane delays and thus would like a refund for day 1. And because of the uneven steps, I fell and fractured my foot.
The weather and view were lovely, but would not recommend this property.

We loved the space, the pool, etc. Angie and Andy were so kind and easy to communicate with! So glad the house has a 4-night min stay — we would have tried to squeeze Vieques into only

This is a modest sized property that is perfect for a small family. ( Myself, my wife and teenage daughter) The view is beautiful, overlooking the Bio-bay and Puerto Ferro. Wifi is good and reliable. The pool was clean and shared the same view as the patio area. There is ample seating with nice clean pillows. The pool is deep! @ 8' so if you have small children be aware of that. The property is very private and the neighborhood is very quiet. The entrance /parking space is on a steep hill- a very steep hill! Don't rent a golf cart or a side by side as I dont think they would have adequate brakes. It's really not a problem by any means and you get used to it after a couple of trips. The parking space easily fits a four door jeep, with easy access up to the residence via some convenient steps. Kitchen area has a full sized fridge with freezer on top, cooking is on a ceramic top built into the counter (no oven) There is a small dining table and couch in the family room that share the kitchen space. Bedrooms are nice with fresh linens and plenty of pillows. Each room has a wall mounted AC unit which is very effective and quiet but doesn't need to run all night. Bathroom is spacious with some provisions ie. shampoo, lotion, bug spray etc. The shower is walk in and has plenty of room. The faucets however are backwards! The Hot is on the right not the left as is customary. I had read reviews complaining of no hot water, this was not the case for us. The water heater is "on-demand" but is located in an outbuilding that houses the washer dryer. It takes a little while for the water to get to the shower, and you will have all the hot water you need. There are also plenty of towels, both for the beach and for bathing.
What would I change? Nothing. Well perhaps a large pot to boil lobster!! But that's it. For the money this is perfect, it's only five minutes to the nearest grocery store and the managers Angie and Andy are fabulous. We both decided we would book this again on our next trip if it is available, To be honest you'll spend most of your time outside in Vieques with the exception of taking a shower, sleeping and occasional cooking. Its a perfect base to come back to in the afternoon/evening to enjoy some quiet cocktails by the the pool!! Highly recommended.

This house’s location is fantastic, the best area of Viques. The only place I would stay on the island. It is gorgeous and practical. The beaches are incredible close and the neighborhood is quiet except for the delightful peacocks, sweet kitties, and roaming horses. The pool is amazing and the outdoor patio is designed for groups, though luxurious if traveling with less people.

Property was well maintained, LOVED the pool and beautiful views. Must have a car, cannot use a golf cart as the house is on a VERY steep hill. Kitchen was stocked well with supplies but we needed more towels.
Would definitely stay again.

Amazing
Amazing property in an amazing location on an amazing island. We wish we could have returned as soon as we left! Angie was so very helpful and the whole process could not have been better! Since the property is on a hill (giving incredible views) be warned that getting into/out of the driveway is not for the faint of heart, but totally worth it.

Beautiful view but…
Wonderful views. However no shade so patio unusable in daytime. Inside was a big problem: all windows were locked and inoperable. Air conditioner must run 24 hrs./day with all doors/windows closed. This defeats the whole idea of a Caribbean vacation including on open air environment cooled by the Trade Winds (and a few fans). Small point: a reading light in the living room would be great. Property manager was great snd acted quickly when we had no hot water.

The VIEW!
The two of us stayed here for a little over two weeks. And LOVED IT.
The positives:
1. The view is EVERYTHING!
2. Jolyon (owner) was quick responding and easy to work with.
4. Angie, house manager is wonderful. Very prompt responding and treated us like royalty!
6. The inside was clean and welcoming.
7. The beds are comfortable
8. The towels are nice (bath and beach).
9. The beach chairs were awesome (didn't use the umbrella).
10. The WiFi was good.
11. The ceiling fans and air-conditioning were great.
13. The pool is lovely.
14. Having the washer and dryer was a plus since we were here for over 2 weeks.
15. The star gazing every night was fabulous.
Things we wish we had known:
1. The road to the house is VERY STEEP. The turn into the drive/garage is not easy, especially on the VERY STEEP road. We had a Jeep and still felt uneasy. There's a definite learning curve to pulling in and out of the driveway.
2. The patio area is lovely & we can imagine it is hard to keep cushions, tiles and gravel clean and fresh. But, it could all use some refreshing.
3. There's very little shade outside making it difficult to enjoy the patio and pool area during the daytime for very long.
4. There are no curtains on any windows. It got quite toasty so having the fans and air-conditioning was a plus.
5. There's no hot water.
6. There are no closets/hangers
The positives far outweigh the negatives! If you're looking for a two bedroom/one bathroom rental this is a beautiful spot. We enjoyed our days here and would come here again.

Beautiful views!
Caribbean Vista was a wonderful place to stay. It is well located on the island (15 minutes from both of the two main towns and 15-20 minutes from beaches) and has amazing views of the island and the ocean. We enjoyed our evenings relaxing in the pool and stargazing. The house is clean and comfortable, with the only exception being the outdoor cushions needing a good cleaning. And although the infinity edge on the pool wasn’t working as shown in the photos, the pool was cool and refreshing. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well appointed. The hot water in the shower was lukewarm at best, but after a hot day at the beaches it didn’t bother us too much. Communication with the property manager was excellent, and we were met at the house upon arrival and shown around. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when we are able to return to Vieques!

Wonderful view
The property is spectacular very clean and with the basics. The pool area with the view during the day and the skyline in the night make the outdoor a plus.
Is retired from town but easy drive to beach town or restaurants
Definitely will be back

Didn't want to Leave the Island
Love the island life. The property managers were amazing....Angie although she didn't speak much English she still did great translating when we needed help getting taxis. It takes a lot to get to this island so be prepared. Rather you are taking the ferry over or the plane be PREPARED for that HILL in front of the villa. It's not shown in the picture of the villa but the is a hill/ driveway to walk if you don't rent a jeep because a golf cart can't really get up there without a push. So be prepared for that.
Other than that the villa is great! The villa is great!! If you do order a cab...let them know you are at the Destino Villa Inn. Not many of the locals are familiar with the area. It wasn't hard getting taxis until after 7pm...so be prepared. This isn't San Juan. It's for ppl who are looking for the beach life. Looking to relax. No clubs or malls really here.
Oh but my favorite part is seeing the free roaming horses!!! LOVED IT! I'm moving here!

Perfect Getaway House
We had complete privacy, and everything we needed. Angie was amazing, meeting us at our car rental place and leading us to the property for the first time, showing us how everything worked and where everything was. We had everything we needed: beach chairs, laundry and dryer machines, full kitchen, beach coolers, reliable electricity, private gated parking, comfortable lounge spaces in the living room and out by the pool, and that amazingly beautiful view. We did not want to leave.

In of our favorite places!
This place was a fantastic with amazing views of the Caribbean! The villa was exactly as seen on the website and was very clean! It had adequate kitchen supplies and utensils. There is a mango tree which we were able to get mangos and make amazing mango smoothies for breakfast. It was peaceful and beautiful day a night. The star gazing at night was spectacular! We highly recommend this villa.

Magical Setting
The location of this house is simply intoxicating. The vantage point, the view, and the sounds of the surrounding countryside were awe inspiring. The house itself was immaculate and comfortable. We were met at the car rental agency by Andy, who guided us to the house and, with charm and warmth, oriented us to all that was important. We found our Kia to be adequate even though there are roads that demand attention and slow driving, as well as a sense of adventure. The management was extremely thoughtful in providing amenities such as portable beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and a cooler. There was a delightful breeze at the house, screens on the windows, and ac which we never used. The people of Puerto Rico who we encountered, were extremely warm and friendly. We rent often in exotic places but this place was drop dead gorgeous. We will be back.

Solitude and a local feel. The view will cause you to stay. You won’t even want to see the rest of the island...

The house is magic, it’s even better than what it looks like in the photos. It’s very beautiful situated, close to Esperanza and with a stuvning view over the sea and the hills. Everything was very clean and fresh. I grymt recommend this house to anyone who wants to visit Vieques.

Beautiful view, quiet neighborhood!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property! The neighborhood was very quiet and the view was spectacular. We really enjoyed the pool and loved the visits from the cats, roosters and chickens that roamed the property! The house is as seen in the photos. There was even a washer/dryer which was very nice and much needed as we stayed over a week and needed to wash our beach towels, clothes, etc. The property is located in a great part of the island, equidistant from both Esperanza and the main Pueblo. It was a few minute drive to each area. We loved the restaurants in both areas. The beaches were also close by - La Chiva was the best!! I would highly recommend a rental car because the house is situated on a very steep hill. It is also not within walking distance to anything.
The property manager was very kind and picked picked us up from the ferry and drove us to the home as we were unable to find a rental car. We did run out of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap in the house and had to go buy more.
We were concerned with the broken tiles in the pool as that can be a safety hazard for any guest.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to Vieques!

Gorgeous Property in an Ideal Location
This really was the perfect place to stay on Vieques! It had everything we needed and was centrally located to the many beaches (especially our favorite, La Chiva). Also, since it is on top of the hill, there is always a breeze -- plus the views are stunning! Both Jolyon and Dennis, the property manager, were very helpful and quick to help us get acclimated. Highly recommended property -- we hope to return!

Simply paradise
My daughters and I spent a week at the house- and it was amazing! The pool, the terrace, the fresh breezy house- all totally perfect. But our absolute favorite was the VIEW! Stepping out on the terrace each morning to the panoramic vista was pure bliss. At night we laid on the chaise lounges gazing at the exquisite star filled sky. We miss the house and Vieques already and can’t wait to return❤️🇵🇷
( management of property were great- informative but hands off. Arrival and check on was 100% smooth)

Great location, very private and clean. My only observations are that there are a lot of bugs during the night, no microwave and tv. Overall experience was great, I would recommend this location to anyone.

Awesome!
The house met our needs and was a beautiful setting. We loved the pool, the view and patios. Everything was fine, but don't count on beach chairs or umbrella, or the cooler. Only two of the chairs were in good shape, one sort of usuable and one totally useless. The umbrella was in shreds and no cooler at all. We found everything else as described. We were met and escourted to the house, but otherwise saw no one. Very provate setting, quiet, but lots of nature's friends came by to greet us. Loved it!

Vacationing in a Vieques Neighborhood
We enjoyed our stay. Booking was painless, arrival had a bump in the road. We are familiar with Vieques but not Destino and counted on the caretaker to show us the way. We instead received a text with directions which seemed to have the rights and lefts confused. After searching for half an hour we were frustrated. Dennis then did meet us at Mambo, we followed him to the house where he rolled down his window, wished us a great stay and drove off. The house was clean with AMAZING views. A 4-wheel drive is helpful for the very very steep road. We grew to enjoy the cat, chicken and peacocks...great entertainment. The tight knit neighborhood is quiet with very respectful and elderly neighbors which aided to the peacefulness of our stay. I did find the episode on HGTV when we got home which would be very helpful to anyone wishing to rent to get a real feel of the place and area. (Beachfront Bargain Hunt Season 4 Episode 12). We had pretty much everything we needed. A dish strainer and dish towel would have been helpful as well as a laundry basket. We shopped for groceries at Green Store. Esperanza was hopping this time of year and we really enjoyed the restaurants there as well as Bieki's Bistro and Buga's Mexican Restaurant out towards Isabel. There's a great gift shop in the middle of the Malecon as well. The beaches were stunning as always. Vieques has done an amazing job recovering after the hurricane and we were so happy to be able to enjoy it once again.

Perfect home base. Unparalleled views. Relaxing.
We spent the New Year's 2019 in this beautiful two-bedroom, hillside home with breathtaking views. It was the perfect home base of operations to explore Vieques and then return to a quiet and relaxing environment. The owner and his property manager were always responsive - and even picked us up at the airport at 6:45AM when our rental car was not yet ready.
Over all, a wonderful experience and so glad we could spend our time there.
Highlights: 180 degree/panoramic view from a high hillside. Infinity pool. Clean and well-maintained. Plenty of outdoor entertaining space.
Constructive comments: washing machine may need replacement/repair (minor), and bedrooms could use blinds/drapes for privacy from outdoor space. Driving to the house is tricky up a steep road, but manageable.

Hidden Gem
The villa is on top a hill and has a 180 degree view. The pool is great 8 feet deep and was very clean. The villa is in excellent condition, good beds but lack of TV. Nina our pet was very happy there. Overall...……..5 star.

Lovely House
We enjoyed our stay greatly. The pool is wonderful as is the patio. The beds were comfortable. The relative downsides: The kitchen is tiny and sparsely supplied if you like to cook. The gas grill doesn't light with a switch--you have to stick a lighter into it to catch the grill on fire. The TV is small and hard to watch and there are roosters and peacocks that woke us up at 4 in the morning. The dishes were adequate but plastic (I suppose to prevent breakage) and the washer had a broken knob that made it hard to use. We had to go and buy paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and ice since the house was not supplied. Not a big deal, but thats why it is 4 stars instead of 5. Overall a great value and a nice place to stay. I recommend ear plugs for the roosters/peacocks.

Excellent again
This was my 2nd stay at the property and there's not much more I can say than I did in my first review ("Magnifico.") It's a magical property with excellent views with a nice beachy/homely feel to it. The pool and view are obviously the cream of the property. You have basically everything you could possibly ask for at an unbeatable value. To cap it off the owner goes above and beyond with respect to advice/help before and during your stay so your $ is going to a deserving proprietor.
With respect to Vieques itself, there are plenty of awesome nice/casual places to eat and drink. But the key to the island is to rent a Jeep (from Maritza's) and visit every beach you can and figure out which one(s) you like best. I will be a lifelong visitor and I will come back to this property for as long as they will have me!
The only thing the place could use is a microwave, but like i said, it basically has everything you could need for your stay. Feel confident in booking this location, you will be thankful you did.

Excelent
Beutiful property. One Million Dollar view from swiming pool. Very clean small house, good for 4 adults or 4 person family. Unbelievable nice landscaping and swiming pool. House has everything what you need. There are two outside grills where you can grill fresh fish or lobsters purchased from fish market which is located next to ferry. Very convenient location in the middle of island. We will choose such house for our next vacation.

Lovely Villa
I have stayed in this Villa twice now. Back in Oct. 2015 and Oct. 2014.
The villa is just about perfect. The pool area is stunning. The views from the terrace are amazing and one of the main reasons I returned and decided to rent from them again.
The location is on a steep hill. There is a covered "garage" for your car rental. The first time pulling up on the hill seems overwhelming and scary but after that initial time it is a piece of cake.
You pass a small iron gate and walk up a small flight of stairs and will be greeted to the stunning pool terrace area. There is a small round table with bench like seating around it and a grill. There are also cushioned seating by the pool and chaise lounges. The infinity pool also has lights and lights up at night. Take advantage and star gaze in the evenings, it is truly magical.
Floaties, beach chairs, beach towels are provided.
The washer and dryer is off back outside of the terrace.
There is a mango tree over the back part of the terrace as well.
Bed linens and towels were fresh, crisp, and clean. Beds were also super comfortable but firm enough to provide back support. The sofa in living room also has a sleeper. The tv is quite small but suffice.
The kitchen was perfect for small meal prep. There is a blender to make frozen drinks ;). No dishwasher but wasn't that important to us.
There is also the essential pots and pans, cutlery, silverware, oil, salt pepper.
Bathroom also had bottles of sunscreen and aloe vera.
The things we purchased for our stay was paper towels, detergent, and food.
Wifi and television worked just fine for both our stays.
Dennis is on hand for anything you need. Our garage light was out and he came the same evening to change it out.
Biobay tour is a must and they have paved a new walking area upon entering the water!
Fruit Farmers Market a couple times a week on the island off the side of the road is also a must (ask for the days upon arrival)
Jolyon was great responding to our emails and extremely helpful.
Im returning a 3rd time this summer!

Exceptional property on Vieques!
Jolyon Bowman's lovely home on Vieques was surely the highlight of our recent family trip to Vieques. The property is perched on a beautiful hillside with distant views to the Caribbean Sea. The house is bright and open, spotlessly clean, with a well stocked kitchen and ample linens. The most wonderful aspect of the property, however, was outside! We all loved the terrific 8 foot deep infinity pool, lovely patios with tasteful and practical furniture, and beautiful planting a throughout the property. Grilling in the evening amidst the glow of the patio and pool lights was wonderful! Nothing we needed had been omitted, from garbage bags to beach equipment! Jolyon Bowman's communication prior to and during our stay was outstanding and he graciously allowed us to extend our stay by a day, as we couldn't bear to leave! His caretaker, Dennis, was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. This exceptional property is truly a gem and one that we hope to return to in the very near future!
Many thanks!

The Perfect Little Villa with a Vista!
This hillside villa is kinda perfect.
Firstly, it's really cute AND comfortable! It had all the modern comforts that you want on vacation but still felt like a "locals" house in that it had the "feel" of the island. Great colors, fabulous views, beautiful garden, lovely pool!
Secondly, the location is ideal in that it's just a few minutes one way or another to beautiful beaches (and this is coming from someone who is NOT a beach girl) and great dinners out. And if you don't feel like going out, you just step out your front door to stunning views of the water and wildlife reserve. I was just charmed sitting on the outside verandah listening to the bird calls and awed by the peacocks who came for a visit! And in the evenings, we would just grab a glass of Rose and sit out under the stars enjoying the cool breezes, free of mosquitos! (I say this because they love me and it's always a concern of mine.)
Finally, the owners were very helpful with information and organized when it came down to getting us where we needed to be! They went the extra mile to answer my questions and share some of their island insider tips! They made it such an easy stay.
We are already scheming when we will be able to get back. LOVED IT!
