This is our second stay at Betide mushroom house. Easy walk to beach, shops and restaurants. Fully equipped kitchen for the days we stayed in. Perfect for the 2 of us. We plan to return!

We truly enjoyed staying in this historical home. The location was perfect, the gas fireplace was wonderful, and the Pez collection was amazing.
The home has everything you need and was very comfortable. The home shows better in person than the Vrbo photographs!!
We contacted the host to figure out how to get the gas fireplace started (it was an unusually cold week) and she responded immediately and made arrangements for her handyman to get it going. Super service!!
We will definitely stay here again!

This is a cozy, well equipped small house in the Charlevoix historic district. Unique, close to central Charlevoix: Lake Michigan, restaurants.

Listing is completely accurate. House is small and older, but spotless, updated and wonderful! Lake Michigan views from the porch. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, even a grocery store. Absolutely perfect for a couple. Might be a bit crowded with kids. Excellent value. Would definitely stay again.

Great Charlevoix Getaway
My husband and I stayed at “Betide” during 4th of July week. It was a pleasure to stay in this historic Earl Young house. We found Betide to be comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully equipped. We cooked most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen, I will miss the Viking stove when I go home. The Master king size bed is very comfortable. We appreciated the beach chairs that were available, we forgot ours at home. The owner Debbie, was just awesome, super responsive to requests, knowledgeable about the area, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Betide is an easy walk away (less than 10 minutes) from the Michigan Beach Park, Bridge Street shopping and dining, Earl Young Historic District, East Park, and much more. Yet far enough away from Bridge Street to provide a peaceful retreat to enjoy the Lake Michigan view and sunset.

Cozy, cute, and comfortable!
The house is perfect for two with the option of hosting a couple guests for dinner and games at the dining table. We appreciated the use of one of the bikes on site for easy rides around town and out to the Boulders. From Betide it was a pleasant walk to the beach for evening sunsets and daytime picnics. We walked into town for meals, but also took advantage of the local fishery, farmers' market, and grocery store. Excellent!

Charming cottage
This cottage has an impressive kitchen for the tiny size. The working gas fireplace added a cozy warmth in the evenings.

A true historical gem
We are so grateful that we were able to spend time in the 'Betide' mushroom house. The interior is just beautiful with the original wood floors, ceiling and stone fireplace and the recent updates to the kitchen and bath. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare meals. It is located just a few blocks from downtown Charlevoix and across the street from Lake Michigan. Thank you Debra for sharing your home and a piece of history with others.

Old world charm + New world technology
This is a lovely Earl Young Mushroom House, probably best suited for two people. High- end appliances and wired for today's technology (which I'm actually not). The location could not be better-easy access to Lake Michigan shore and downtown Charlevoix.

Charlevoix mushroom house
We loved our stay at this house. It worked really well for the two of us. Great location. Everything we needed was supplied. Easy checking and out.
One suggestion would be to declutter the door of the refrig and one shelf in the kitchen cabinet to allow for visitors food items. Otherwise everything was wonderful and we hope to return in the future. Thanks!

Betide Cottage
This wasourI first time staying at Betide cottage and it was wonderful. The house is a piece of history, as an Earl Young cottage, but it is also comfortable with everything you need. It's proximity to downtown makes shopping and dining a quick walk away and it is so close to the beach, you can hear the waves. I look forward to another visit in this "mushroom" house soon.

Dream Location
This cottage has much wood and tile, which I like, along with the flavor of whimsy. While the bedroom with the bunk bed, is very small, the room with the king bed in it, is very spacious, with a comfy bed. We cooked in the kitchen daily, at least one meal, and had no issues finding what we needed. The pots and pans were in very good shape, and the knives that I used were sharp for cutting vegetables.
The location is amazing. I walked to the beach, everyday, while enjoying my morning coffee, using the wooded paths, which are so close to the cottage. The cottage is across the street from Lake Michigan. There is also a sandy, public beach with park and the pier, that we walked to, since it was, at most, a 5 minute walk from the cottage. It is easy to bring your chairs, etc. since it is such a short walk.
It is only a 10 minute walk to the best part of the town, where there are shops and eateries to enjoy. This cottage is located on the best side of the bridge, in my opinion, for access to the harbor and the quaint business district. Although, the drawbridge is not up for too long, however, it is a small convenience, especially if you have a car, that you are using to pick up groceries in that area.
Debbie gave us her phone number, and is very responsive, so no worries there. We didn't have any problems, but she is good about checking in and communicating with you, and is kind. We were going to arrive later, with no time for grocery shopping, and she notified me, that she had left eggs and milk in the refrigerator, for us, which was very helpful, since I have a 17 year old boy, with a very big appetite, that eats eggs at night!
I highly recommend this place for relaxing, while enjoying both nature and a quaint village. I just hope that there open days, when we find our way back!

Unique place
We enjoyed our time at this most unique place in Charlevoix. It's cozy, but well-equipped. The kitchen is small, but has a great range for cooking. Bedroom is large and comfortable. Very convenient to public beach, south (or west) pier, and town. Be prepared to be a bit "on display", though. There are Mushroom House tours that pass by (and stop and look) multiple times per day. It just comes with this unique property.

Fantastic stay!
This was great place! Exactly what we want. Nice and quiet neighborhood but still close to everything. The place was clean and there were a lot of useful items in the house, we definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend to friends.

Lovely stay !
Really enjoyed our week in Charlevoix. The location was top and the cottage was superb and very comfortable for two people. The only thing that was missed was a cutting board and serrated knife for bread, tomatoes etc. We would definitely stay again!!

Mushroom House Review
The location of the house to the beach and downtown is excellent. Loved the coziness and history of the house and adored the kitchen. If you are there in the summer, check out the Interlochen Arts Festival and the entertainment that they schedule. We saw Diana Ross which was incredible and about an hour 40 minute drive from Charlevoix.

Awesome place in Charlevoix
Terrific place in Charlevoix, perfect spot for the week. 2 blocks from downtown, across from Lake Michigan. The house was spotless. Owner is easy to communicate with. Power went out at 7 am one morning, and I contacted her by email; she got right back with me by email, phone and text. It resolved itself within 30 minutes, but she was right on it. We could not have been happier.

Charming cottage on Lake Michigan. Cozy and unique.
We had a wonderful stay. Owner is very responsive and proactive. All in all, a lovely experience.

A vert well kept property. Everything you need for a great vacation in Charlevoix.
I do have a couple items that I feel need to be addressed.
1: The bolt on t he door lock needs to be adjusted so that it goes in.to to th e jam much easier. Very hard to unlock and lock the door.
2: I feel that the owner should supply the RED bags for trash. Went to the store to buy some and only sell in lots of 10 for $25.00. I believe most people would use 1-2 bags a weeks stay. We got a bay from family of ours that live there. With cleaning and service fees, this added cost is not acceptable.
Al in all this is one of the best places to stay in Charlevoix. Closes to the beach and if you known your way around town it is in a good location to be able avoid most of the traffic. Would recommend it to everyone who wants a nice vacation up north.
Regards,
Gary & Frances Wolfe

Very comfortable cottage with a beautiful kitchen and bath.
This Earl Young cottage is quiet and private, but Adirondack chairs in front invite conversation with walkers while enjoying coffee in the mornings. The kitchen and bath which are outfitted with highend appliances are not large, but were perfect for us. We do cook some meals--we prepared whitefish dinner for twelve on our rainy first night. It was perfect. The master bedroom is roomy and has plenty of closet space and the king size bed is great.

Excellent summer getaway experience
We had a wonderful week at the Betide Cottage in Charlevoix. This is a beautiful home within very short walking distance of an excellent beach on Lake Michigan (with dramatic sunset views) and fine dining and shopping in the village. The Earl Young cottage is an impressive historical property located in a beautiful neighborhood. It was extremely well equipped, immaculately clean and well maintained, convenient, and comfortable. Charlevoix itself is a terrific location - right on beautiful Lake Michigan beaches and a calm inland lake - and the location provides convenient access for short day trips to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes to the south (~60-90 minute drive) and the Mackinac area to the north (~60 minute drive). We would recommend this property in the highest possible terms. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Stone Gem
This Earl Young cottage is as the pictures show. It's quaint, small, recently updated inside, about a block from the sandy beach of Lake MI below and about a third of a mile from the main street. It has location! The interior has many amenities, looks like the owners leave much of their personal effects there. The kitchen is adequately supplied with dishes, appliances, etc. The leftover/remaining food items in the cupboards, frig and freezer were numerous. Not sure if these items are for use or are there for the owner. I simply moved the stuff aside, no worries. We very much enjoyed our stay, we would like to return again as we frequent the area to visit local family.
Thank you

Utterly Charming!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Betide. As a former Michigander I had driven down Charlevoix's Park Avenue and admired Earl Young's handywork from the street. But it was delightful to call this place "home" for a week. And how fun seeing a parade people in cars snapping pictures of the house you're lucky enough to be staying in?!? The owner was easy to work with and the house was utterly charming.

Dog hair
I was glad to see no pets in listing, as I am very allergic to cats and dogs. Unfortunately, there is dog hair everywhere. The chairs are covered with it, as is area rug! Could have been vacuumed. Remote in bunkbed room doesn't work. Could have a light behind lower bunk so you could read in bed. Also felt there weren't any utensils. No sharp knives, spatula, etc. I'm Aire you know where they are, would have been nice for us to know. My sister,Peggy, rented the house for our vacation. Was disappointed.
