About this villa rental
You will love the Spectacular Sunsets over Great Cruz Bay and the Lights of St. Thomas from the new pool deck of Villa Solare. Wonderful 30' X 12' pool and covered patio were added in the fall of 2015. Located in the quiet neighborhood of Great Cruz Bay Estates, Villa Solare offers easy 10-minute access to downtown (no hair-pin curves or roller coaster hills), convenient to shopping, restaurants and North Shore beaches.
Upon entering the Villa property, you experience the natural Caribbean artistry of stone & shell archways, brick courtyard and tropical gardens. The Villa features a Main house with two Master Suites and a Guest Cottage with 3 additional suites. New A/C in the main living area! All bedrooms are air-conditioned and have private full baths. Each bedroom includes flat screen Roku TVs, and Ceiling fans. Wonderful mahogany cathedral ceilings, doors and paneling throughout, complete the Caribbean experience. The two upper level rooms of the Guest Cottage have beautiful new outdoor showers with Caribbean Stone detail. Early 2018, one of the upper guest bedrooms was converted to a studio apartment with small kitchen, indoor eating and sofa with integrated deluxe queen bed. Great for creating separate living for grandparents or young adults.
In addition to the two Master Suites, the Main House features a newly renovated Kitchen with stainless steel appliances and serving/entertaining island, spacious Dining Area and Casual Living Room. Walk from the Living Area onto the spacious deck and relax around your private pool, overlooking the moorings of Great Cruz Bay. The new covered deck accommodates casual dining for 10 as well as a sitting area to escape the afternoon sun or occasional showers.
From the Guest House, enjoy great views from the elevated deck or relax in the shaded patios beneath.
Plenty of parking with easy turn-around. The gently sloping yard is perfect for families with small children or elderly. Easy 5 min. walk to the Westin for beaches, bars and boat rentals/excursions. Wonderful venue for Family Reunions or Wedding Party accommodations.
A feature we know our guests are sure to enjoy is the solar panels with the battery backup system. If the power goes out, the batteries will kick in, so you will not be without power. This will be a welcomed amenity for those unexpected power outages.
Rates assume double occupancy per bedroom.

Amazing sunset views while floating or eating by the private pool. Owners are great folks and were helpful with suggestions and responding to questions.
The Villa is lovely and I highly recommend Villa Solare!

We had a fantastic vacation with our family. The pictures on line are spot on. The place was clean, comfortable and the pool was amazing.

The Villa is beautiful and spacious. Amenities as advertised. When we stayed the first time in Dec 2019, we had 9 people and all the rooms were comfy for all. I recall both bedrooms in the main house having queen beds. Now there is a king and a double. The upgraded king was wonderful, but the double bed was unexpected. I didn’t read the listing close enough to catch those changes. Thank you for the full size mirror in the bathroom. I made that suggestion after getting married on Trunk Bay. We had a beautiful stay! We will be back.

This was our second time here and it was fantastic. The house is very comfortable and well stocked. The location to town and grocery stores was great. The view is like none other. We had the best time. We would definitely rent again.

St. John family trip
We were interested in getting a private retreat with a private pool. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. It had a large veranda with a beautiful pool and the sunset views were the best. It was the perfect place during the ongoing covid pandemic.

Family Vacation 2021
This property was great for our family of 7 adults and 1 toddler. We all had our own space and lot's of family space. The Villa felt like a family house and had everything we needed to stay comfortably. The main master bedroom on the 1st floor is much nicer and bigger than represented in the pictures. It has a king bed and has lot's of room. The rooms all stayed cool. The patio by the pool does get hot in the afternoon, but we were at the beaches most days. The bay view was unobstructed and very beautiful day and night. Would definitely stay there again!!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay in Villa Solare! It is absolutely perfect for multiple families or larger groups. We have every single amenity you could imagine! The views are incredible and the location is perfect! We will be booking this villa when we return to St. John!

Everything was wonderful!
Communication with Susan was clear and accurate. Tami met us at the dock and we were on our way. Villa provisioning was coordinated by the people on the island and everything was perfect! Definitely recommend Villa Solare for a big family or group.

Beautiful Home, Incredible View
We had a wonderful time with our adult children and their families. The view from the home was incredible each morning and evening. We were shown around by Kay Ann when we arrived, she was extremely gracious and knowledgeable. The house was clean and had all the amenities necessary for our 10 day stay. There were 4 adult couples with 2 grandchildren and the way the home is laid out we each had our own space. The highlight of the home for us was the pool and patio which was where we spent our time when we were home. The home is located close enough to town where it isn't an inconvenience to go, but far enough to enjoy the serenity of the island. We would highly recommend this home for your stay.

Beautiful property
Hi We just arrived home last night as we stayed at Grand Bay with friends for another week. ViilsSolare was everything we wanted. Beautiful view and very clean. The pool was great to come back to after a day at the beach. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is we only a had grill for 2 nights as it didn’t work and we lost a lot of food. Also it was said to have queen beds and they were only double and that made it a little difficult.
Caribbean Villas were quick to respond to everything but the grill took days to replace and it certainly was not their fault.

Nice property in a great location. Great pool area and view.
We had a few minor issues at first but the manager was quick to get them remedied. This was our 4th trip to the VI and the house worked great for our group of 10. The driveway is a little steep but that is the way things are in the VI. Pool area worked great and the view is fantastic. Location is close to Cruz Bay for restaurants/shopping and most of the beaches are 15 minutes away.

Family vacation
We were finally able to vacation with our adult children at the Villa Solare. It was perfect for us! The pool patio was amazing and we spent most of our time out there, in the morning or evening watching the sunset. It is close to Cruz Bay so driving in for dinner or groceries was easy. The kitchen was well stocked, even though we only cooked in one night. The separate bedrooms with bathrooms were all great. I wish I was still there! We will really try to come back!! We were met at the dock by Kay, who did a great job showing us around. Thank you so much for sharing this home and beautiful island.

Incredible view, amazing pool and patio, lots of space
We had a fantastic stay on St. John for an family reunion with 10 people ages 3 to 67. The house has everything we needed for an amazing week away. We especially loved the patio and pool area. We spent almost all of our time at the house outside on the patio. Great location near Cruz Bay but very quiet at night. The home owner is very responsive and helpful. Most definitely one of the best places our family has ever stayed at!

Friends Group Trip
The view at every time of the day was phenomenal. There is no better way to drink your morning coffee than watching the sunrise on the bay. We were met at the dock by Kay who explained to us everything we needed to know about the Villa and the Island. Everything was very clean and well appointed. The Villa had all the amenities needed for a trip to the island: blender, beach chairs, cooler, pool floats, and beach towels. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, and big enough to cook a meal for 10. Overall, an excellent experience on the best island in the Caribbean.

Beyond expectations!
It's always great, and rare, when the real thing is even better than the photos! The house is spacious and the outdoor patio/pool area is new and beautifully designed. The owners thought of everything to make the stay easy and provided what is needed, without additional clutter. The cooler on wheels, beach chairs and beach towels were essentials. Loved the large dining table on the patio and the lounge chairs for the pool. A perfect layout for families and/or friends.

Grandmama's Birthday Celebration!
"Why should I want to leave this place?" said Grandmama repeatedly as her family tried to convince her to revisit the beaches that we all remembered so fondly. And indeed, this group of 10 couldn't agree more, although we did explore a bit! Villa Solare was perfect for our 4 generation family gathering including 90 yo Grandmama and 2.5 yo great-grandson. The new pool and deck area was indeed so inviting that we spend most of our time there and ate on the covered verandah every night. The layout with the cottage bedrooms/baths for our mostly later risers and the 2 master bedrooms overlooking the pool could not have been better. We only had one car (definitely opt for a jeep; you need the clearance) for our group of 10 but no worries - lounge at our pool, walk to the beach at the Westin for sand play or drinks, quick run to drop off some at Cinnamon or Caneel, drop off our scuba divers for a pickup at Chocolate Hole, walk to St. John grocery, watch the resident iguanas from the pool (a favorite of everyone)- all easy on island time! Groceries were of sufficient variety although certainly trended more expensive; we mostly shopped nearby St. John grocery but also loved the bagels from Baked in the Sun (and they made a fabulous flourless chocolate torte for gluten intolerant Grandmama.)The villa was well equipped (we prepared all dinners at home), only tried the AC in one room one time as the fans were sufficient and preferred by us and any minor issues we had were solved quickly and in a friendly manner by Caribbean Villas. From the initial booking process to when we left was a positive experience. Any tips ? - Yep, I wouldn't rent a car at the airport again (long line and I am now wary of the car barges as one went down the week we were there and it is guess work as to how early one needs to get in line to make sure you make the ferry to make it to the airport in time. ) Also pack snacks or lunch for the airport - the checkin process is long and the food in the terminal marginal.
Would I return to Villa Solare - and do I hope to return - you betcha!

Awesome family vacation home
This was our first stay at Villa Solare and were so pleased with the house. We are a family of ten with two young children and an 81 year old grandmother. Home accommodated everyone. The outside living area is beautiful. Cooked and ate outside 6 of the seven nights there. Coffee in the early morning on the patio was so relaxing with the island sounds of the roosters, frogs and ferries waking up the island. After a day on one of the many beautiful beaches, all were anxious to return to the patio for the beautiful sunsets. Location was also perfect. Quiet but close to everything. Hope to return to Villa Solare in the future.

2nd time at Villa Solare
This was our 2nd time staying at Villa Solare. The new pool and patio are phenomenal and add so much to the house. The outside dining area and sitting space were constantly being used. The pool is amazing. We stay each year in St. John with our two small children and rent cribs/supplies from Island Baby. We bring along the grandparents also! I think every grandparent now has a picture of the view as their background screen on their Ipads. The house is easy to get to, close to the food markets and town. We are planning our stay for next year. Not a bad driveway for the car but better to have 4WD. Some St. John driveways are insanely steep, this one isn't too bad. Wifi a bit spotty but this is common for the island. Susan is a great owner to work with. An issue with the kitchen sink was fixed within an hour by the villa handyman.

Fabulous View and Extraordinary Villa!
Villa Solare in Great Cruz Bay Estates was a dream experience from the time I booked until I locked up sadly at the end of the week. When I feel stressed at home it really helps to take a breath and remember my Villa view. Susan, the owner was so helpful at every turn! Every detail was taken care of by the owners making our stay seamless. We were 2 families with 6 teens/young adults and this villa was perfect with the back cottages being separate from the house. We love to cook and this villa has every single item necessary to prepare everything from boiled water to a five star meal. The glassware is extensive and the mugs for coffee/tea just the perfect size. Large soft colorful beach towels for everyone with beach chairs, coolers, ice pack and everything necessary for multiple beach days was provided. The set up of this villa is not to be missed, I can't say enough on how it was perfectly appointed and the location is beyond stellar. The back patio with multiple chairs and gorgeous furniture makes you want to stay at the Villa all day and night. Teens or anyone can walk to the Westin so easily and it was nice to leave the young adults in town for New Years Eve and they took a taxi home. NYE in Cruz Bay with the Iron Bowl on the large screen OUTDOORS with two bands made for such fun for everyone..all ages were on the streets. St. John is the most beautiful place I have traveled to date, and we have traveled. The beaches are breathtaking, the snorkeling superb and we loved them all but definitely were partial to sipping on a cold Corona at Honeymoon Bay and the fabulous snorkeling. Parking is $20 but if you spend $20 inside you park free. Honeymoon Bay is SO SO worth the 7 minute walk through the woods-skip Caneel Bay it is just not nearly as gorgeous as Honeymoon and overpriced. Our jeep was in constant motion and we made it all over the island and on every beach possible in seven days. Our only disappointment was the "Lime Inn" which came highly recommended and we found it sadly awful-but great waitstaff and drinks.. however, several other restaurants were super. Rhumb Line is not to be missed and Longboard was perfection too. I literally could write a five paragraph essay on the Villa to explain why I give this home an excellent review and the island my five star seal of approval. We so hope we can return to Villa Solare again.

Amazing View, and a New Pool!
Our experience was outstanding from beginning to end. The owners took a personal interest in us long before our trip began, and made sure all of our questions were answered. A very nice lady met us at the car ferry and led us to the house the first night, and then spent time showing us the house and answering all of our questions. The owners even checked on us during the week to make sure everything was going well. The house was perfect for our 3 families. There was a large fully equipped kitchen, casual living room area, and comfortable bedrooms for everyone. We spent most of our time on the back patio and in the new pool area. The pool was amazing! Plus a beautiful view of the sunset each evening - WOW. There were thoughtful features too, like the beach chairs, the double washers and dryers, the grill, and a safe for valuables. Location was great - the house was only a few minutes drive from the downtown area where you can find restaurants and shops, and a few more minutes to the entrance to the national park. And of course, the beaches on St. John are the prettiest we have ever seen. Our favorite was Maho Bay. Thank you for the enjoyable stay. We would definitely choose this house again!

Exactly Right!
Loved it!! We were 2 families looking for enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate 2 couples and 6 children. The villa was perfect. We could spread out or enjoy time all together around the pool and living room areas. The location is great since it doesn't involve too much driving to get to and from town or the beaches. We are "beach people" at home on the coast so everyone settled in quickly to the routine that keeps us relaxing at home (grilling, swimming) after days filled with snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc. We found a fully stocked kitchen and ample dining space for everyone. The pool is plainly visible for the kids to remain under watchful eyes, even as dinner is prepared indoors. We had plenty of beach chairs, coolers, towels, and even laundry on sight so everything was taken care of. Nobody wanted to leave.... Would certainly go back to Villa Solare and highly recommend it to other families. The pictures tell the story and the owner was great to work with in securing the details. It's a gem.

Perfect for our family!
We enjoyed a great, relaxing week at Villa Solare. The location was very convenient to everything and the Villa was equipped with everything that we needed. Our two independent 13 year old twins each had their own "suite" and privacy and we talked about coming back next year with a larger group as the Villa could fit more than our family of 4. We had a couple of minor issues that were promptly dealt with by the rental company. We also had a very heavy rainfall one night and we all stayed comfortable and dry inside and enjoyed watching the storm come over from St. Thomas.

Nice villa with plenty of room
We have been to St. John many times but this is our first stay at Villa Solare. Our party of 8 (4 couples) stayed at the villa for 9 nights. The villa is well equipped and was very clean and modern. There was plenty of room for 4 couples to have space to themselves. A good grocery store is close by and it is a short drive the ferry and gift shops. The owner is great to deal with and very responsive to questions. This was a terrific experience and I highly recommend this villa.

Ready to Come Back!
We stayed at Villa Solare for a week in April and had a wonderful, relaxed vacation. Villa Solare is a lovely, well maintained home near Great Cruz Bay. The Villa had everything our party of 4 adults and 3 children needed. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked for cooking at home, both buildings were spacious with gorgeous views and there was plenty of room in the driveway for multiple vehicles. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck by the pool and afternoon cocktails in the courtyard. Susan, our hostess, kindly answered our numerous questions since this was our first time on St. John. The beach chairs, many beach towels and coolers at the house were very helpful with our daily outings to various beaches. The Villa is conveniently located close to town, restaurants and grocery stores.
We can’t wait to return to St. John and Villa Solare!

Great Stay
Had 10 Adults stay in Villa Solare for 5 nights, and four of us stayed for an additional 4 nights. All in all a great experience, the house is well suited for a large or small group. Kitchen is great, bedrooms are air conditioned, and the deck views are very nice. 7-8 minute drive to Cruz Bay. Nothing's too far on the island from here, it's a good location to launch from for your day trips. St. John Market is on the way to town and much closer, which we found is much cheaper than the other markets closer to town. Very quiet, good for walks. This place is just as advertised. Susan is very easy to deal with. Thanks again!
