Had a wonderful stay. Quiet neighborhood with some things within walking distance, but downtown Reykjavik super close and a great location if you're doing day trips around the area.

Our family of 5, with three teens, stayed at the house. It is at a great location and the house was very comfortable, exceeding our expectations. I would definitely recommend this place!

This house was a joy to stay in. A beautifully built genuine mid-century modern house with a great location. Easy access to downtown Reykjavik and highways made it convenient for all of our activities.
The owner was pleasure to meet and work with for check-in and gave us a tour of the house.
I would definitely recommend a stay here.

This home in a quiet residential neighborhood was perfect for my husband and me and our two adult children. Plenty of space to spread out; comfortable beds/bedding; ample towels, equipped kitchen; outdoor areas. Gorgeous views of harbor, mountains, glaciers, just a few minutes' drive to central Reykjavik.
Johannes provided a gracious welcome and helpful information.

With 4 bedrooms, this place was perfect for our family of 5. Comfortable, nice neighborhood. Space for parking. Easy 10 minute drive to numerous restaurants. Highly recommend.

this house was just what our family needed for a very last minute booking. The host went out of his way to make sure we have everything we needed, and gave us a personal tour of his family home. We felt very confident and comfortable staying here and really enjoyed being a little outside the city center. Overall a very relaxing stay with plenty of room for a family of five to spread out.

The house was in a great central location with easy access to the bus line and plenty of room for our family. Communication with the host was great! Enjoyed hearing the history of this unique home.

We were met at the door and welcomed by a song!!
Very nice walking neighborhood. So close to the geothermal pool. Only 2 miles from central Reykjavik. We did an excursion in a different direction everyday.

I booked this location with me and 6 of my friends for about 7 days. We chose this location mainly due to the fact that it had the perfect number of bedrooms for all of us. (3 couples and one single, four rooms total). But we really fell in love with the interior! We mainly all sat together in the living room, which was very spacious for a big group.
We were greeted by Olafur and then Johannes, who gave us a brief history of the home, which was built I believe in the 80s and was renovated and built on top of overtime. You can tell a lot of love and hard work went into the house.
While Iceland was very cold, the heating system in the house was top-notch!
We did have an issue with one of the bathroom toilets not working properly, but they were very quick to handle that within a day. Thankfully there are two bathrooms, and we managed just fine until the issue was resolved.
While this isn't in the heart of Reykjavik, it is right on bus 14 and that worked out whenever we wanted to go into town. Plus we had amazing views of the mountains in the distance and it was a quiet neighborhood, so this was exactly what we wanted.
I will say this is the best location for those with a big group or a big family, especially those who want a semi-relaxing trip to Reykjavik with some excursions planned.

Great place for a family vacation. Good location. Close to downtown Reykjavik and easy to drive to other attractions. One correction: Laundry is listed at as an amenity. I assume washer and dryer were on sight. The laundromat was several blocks away.

Simply Outstanding!!!!
I am so glad I chose this property. When we checked in, Johannes, one of the owners met us after midnight to show us everything we needed to know as we properly checked in. The place was exactly what we needed. Very comfortable with a perfect location to everything. It literally took a few minutes to get anything in the city. It has an amazing view. I could not imagine choosing a place that would’ve made us happier. I hope to go back to the same house next time we’re in Reykjavík, Iceland. Everything was simply outstanding!

From the renting process through check out this property was delightful! Johannes greeted us at check in, gave us a tour plus the history of the home. Built by his grandfather’s own hand and his grandmother’s direction, Love is in the very placement of stones and Johannes shares this in the tour. The location is wonderful and the home is well appointed with everything you need. This property is truly delightful.

We had such a good time and had everything we needed. We bought a multiple use card for the big swimming pool down the road and went for a nice soak every night after our long days of seeing the sights. The location as great and quiet at night. Beds were comfy! Only downside was we couldn't check in early, but it was totally understandable.

We had a wonderful time at the Austurbrun property. We had a family of 6 and especially appreciated the 2 bathrooms. Nice central location. We thought it might be tough to not have a washer dryer on site but it turned out to be a welcome blessing not to do laundry on vacation. Also - the cool climate made it possible to wear clothes several times. House was so well equipped with everything we could possibly need! Thank for all the special touches including chocolate/coffee upon arrival. Thank you for your hospitality!!!

Perfect choice for a stay in Reykjavik!
I can't say enough good things about this property and the owners. The rental is better than described in this profile. It was perfect for what we needed and the owners were wonderful. Siggi was very responsive to any and every email inquiry and Olafur was on location to make sure you had a local resource and your stay was enjoyable (he will give you a cell number to text). Both owners balanced privacy with accessibility perfectly. We've rented through VRBO a few times and Siggi and Olafur are 'tops' when it comes to owners. The property worked out very well. it is a four bedroom one and a half bath with very ample living space; a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. It is very clean and comfortable. We used it as a 'home base' for an annual hiking trip we take as a group of 5 guys. This provided plenty of space for our group. The location works out very well too. There's an ice cream place (Skubbs) and restaurant within a 5 minute walk, multiple grocery stores within a 10 minute drive, and you can get to the center of downtown in about 15 minutes by car. We didn't use public transportation, but there are multiple bus stops in very close proximity to the property. I plan on taking my family to Iceland as my hiking trip with my friends couldn't have been any better. When I do take my family there, Siggi and Olafur's rental is on my list as the only option for our accommodations. It was perfect in every regard. Thanks, Siggi and Olafur!
