Loved Gone to Carolina! The place was perfect for our family with size, the decor, location and amenities including the pool. It had a warm feeling to it even though it was a Beach Home for 2 weeks. We would definitely stay here again for a stay in Duck/Corolla! Thank you for sharing your home.

Arrived an hour and a half after scheduled check in time. Arrived exhausted only to find house had not been cleaned. I don't mean munir cleaning but major issues. Pile of dirty linen at the door upon entering. Pile of dirty dishes. Linen on floor in one room had what looked like either dried blood or poop. Immediately nauseous. Looks like mold around vents in third floor. Disgusting trash in one of the bathrooms. Not all tvs worked as described..Stove handle broken and laid into of stove . Floors filthy and not swept even after cleaning person finally came and left. Mind you we had to wait another two hours before we could settle in. Communication with owner was mildly satisfactory. He was nonchalant and basically said this type of inconvenience comes with traveling. He was not willing to make any concessions for our inconvenience and utter disgust. I am in the medical profession and bacteria and germs are a huge concern for me. This owner clearly didn't share the same concern.
The property is in need of a major deep cleaning and some updates. Other than that s nice Structure in a nice location.

Had a great trip! And The Town Of Duck was so nice. Bicycling the town was great and the home was close enough that even I could make it to town and back without more than 1 or 2 stops asking the way. Be aware there are lots of spiders EVERYWHERE.

The property owner was wonderful to work with. I sent him a few questions and he got back to me immediately. This is a nice beach house. It wasn’t too far away from the beach access for the little ones to walk. The *extras were a blessing- the beach wagon, beach umbrellas, and beach chairs! We also made use of the bikes! Just an fyi (I forgot to let the owner know) - there are 5 bicycles but 2 of them have either flat or dry rotted tires. The other 3 are fine. We loved having a fenced in yard for the kids! Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing week!

Very nice property. Loved the location. Steps to the beach and the pool was wonderful. Just pack your suitcase the rest is there!

Our family of 8 had a wonderful time at OBX. The house is in the perfect location-a short walk to the beach (which is beautiful) and the sound and a short drive to restaurants and lots of activities. The house has a lot a character--from the window cutouts to the artwork to the backyard oasis where we spent alot of time. the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need, including highchairs and mini crib/pack-n-play for my infant grandson.
One con I have to mention--the left deck rail of the deck off the main living area is loose. We put chairs in front of it to block access, but it could be a catastophe if not fixed.
Otherwise--we would stay here again!

The location of this property was fabulous! Pool area was really nice, we spent alot of time back there when we weren't at the beach! Had a small issue with checkin day but contacted the property manager and he was wonderful!! We would definitely book this location again in the future!

Over the house was ok. We had no AC from when we arrived on Saturday until Monday pm. I wish we were told that we needed to bring our own toile paper, one bathroom had none and the other 2 about 1/3 roll. Easy to pack but were unaware that none would be provided from the beginning. Feel the house keepers could have done a better job, we found other people belonging under the beds. The original post when we made the reservation said 4 full bathrooms, did not realize they are calling the outside shower a full bathroom. They have since undated to say 3 full baths and 1 outdoor shower.

Rented the house for a little over a week for a spring break trip with extended family. We really liked the location of the house. You are a short walk to the beach and have quick access to a very nice bike path that runs through Duck. House was clean and everything was in working order. There is everything you need in the kitchen for extended trips and then some. There was 6 adults and one infant and we all had plenty of room. If you don’t mind staying a little further away from all the grocery stores and busy areas of other locations like us, then I definitely would recommend this house.

Great house, great location. Duck was beautiful this weekend and the fishing was spectacular. Fresh Tuna for everyone

Perfect for our group! Quiet area but close to shops. Easy short walk to the beach or sound for spectacular sunsets. Layout of the house was great and each couple had their own bathroom and deck. House had everything we needed including bikes. Pool and hotub were an excellent addition. Would def rent again.

Disappointed
Overall I was very disappointed in this property! Starting with the positives, the house was a good size and the location was ok - no ocean views but the short walk was doable. The availability and size of the private pool was great and we did enjoy the spacious hot tub. The beds were also reasonably comfortable.
The negatives:
Cleanliness: Upon arrival the house was "cleaned" but not well, counters were still sticky and several empty drink bottles were found around the house. The front was littered with trash from an overturned can and the pool bottom was covered in sand. I spent the better part of the first evening re-cleaning the house.
Condition of home: This home, while well appointed, could use some TLC. The first floor has a very musty smell, this is where two of the 4 bedrooms are located. The kitchen has has a good selection of plates, cups, etc, but all of the serving utensils and knives were rusted. The faucet in the kitchen sprays everywhere when you try to use it, the refrigerator also had a foul smell.
Bathrooms: while nicely decorated, the bathrooms were dirty and the glass shower door was very rusted and difficult to move, often falling off of the track.
Bugs: Finally - the worst part was the amount of bugs at this property... there were an abundance of ants and cockroaches both inside and outside. The pool also had ALOT of little spiders in it and all around the sides. After the bug spray provided did not deter them, we ultimately decided to depart early.

Perfect for family getaway
House was nice and perfect for what we needed. Pool was great, kids loved the hot tub. Short walk to the beach but if you have any issues with walking access is not easy. My mom went to the beach once but couldn’t make it another day. You had to be able to walk up/down a dune to get to beach. No control of owner but is helpful for others to be aware. Otherwise, no issues and we had a great time!

Cozy decor in a great location
We recently finished our stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location was very walkable to the beach. It’s maybe a block down the street and an easy 5 min stroll. Plus, the owner has a wagon you can use and beach chairs. They also have bikes and a kayak which were fabulous. The kids loved ping pong, the pool and the hot tub. The only con I can think of was the linens that we paid an extra to have. There were maybe 3 washcloths and 10 bath towels. I myself use a washcloth daily and had to use paper towels because we obviously didn’t have enough. I would recommend bringing a few of your own to supplement. It wasn’t a dealbreaker though. We enjoyed our time here and would stay again. Our favorite things to do in OBX were the wild horse tour in Corolla, visiting Manteo and touring the Roanoke Island Festival Park Museum and hiking the sand dune at Jockey Ridge State Park. Make sure you walk on the boardwalk in downtown Duck! It’s hidden on the sound side around where the hammock store is located. It’s so pretty, especially at sunset!

Family Vacay 2022
The house was clean, well stocked, comfortable, and close to the beach and sound. The neighborhood was quiet and there was a life guard stationed right at the beach entrance. Kids loved the pool. We had a wonderful week. Would definitely book again.

A perfect family home!
We spent Spring Break 2022 at Caroline Dunes (my husband and I and two young kids). The house was the perfect size for us and could have fit a second family easily. The house also had more kid friendly items than we realized — a pack and play, booster seat and tension baby gate if needed. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for the week and then some. The house is filled with light with so many places to relax from decks to the backyard to the hot tub (my son’s favorite). We had lovely weather and enjoyed the beach every day (a short walk away). It is close to the shops in Duck but still a quiet spot for the trip. We could see ourselves coming back to this house for years to come. Such a wonderful stay. Thank you!!

End of summer season 2021
-Very quiet this time of year.
-Cannot use pool at night because lights not working, safety issue.
-No lights near hot tub so bring flashlights and be careful using steps to prevent injuries.
-Suggest not using gas grill in current condition. We bought a charcoal one to use instead.
-Tubs are very slippery. Bring rubber bath mats or buy them as we needed to do. Or, just use the outdoor shower and ground level stall across from washer/dryer.
-Beautiful views of sunrise and sunset from crow’s nest
-Short walk to sound access
-Shorter walk to ocean
-Bicycles in excellent condition for our ride to Duck Fire Department to purchase tee shirts. We walked everywhere else.

location
great location to beach, stores, restaurants and groceries. Duck is away from the more crowded areas of Outer Banks but has everything you need close by. House had everything you need during stay including several bikes, beach chairs, beach buggy, umbrellas. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice house for the price!
We had a great stay at this house for our first time to OBX. Nice open concept, fun backyard space, and easy check in/out process. The walk to the beach was easy with two children under two. The only issue we had was zero communication with the owner. One of our showers was unable to be used at check-in. I emailed him immediately and never received a response. We booked the house assuming we had three showers to use, but four families had to share two showers which was an inconvenience. Other than that, we enjoyed the house!

Family vacation
We enjoyed our stay at Carolina Dunes! The house was spacious and the kitchen was stocked. Would have been nice to be able to adjust the thermostat below 72 degrees due to elderly mother traveling with us but it had a lock on the thermostat. The walk to the beach was short and also to the sound. The bikes were great for evening rides. We had great weather and enjoyed the pool every day. Thanks for sharing this wonderful vacation home with us! We had a great week!!

Mom's Cottage
We had an amazing stay filled with lots of wonderful memories! The house looks great! I will say that there was a HUGE load of wet sheets and towels in the washing machine which we dried and folded. Some of the beds had linens and some did not, however, I did not ask for linen service. (not complaining , just wanted you to know) Have a blessed day, Lori Melton

We had such a great time at this beach home! The walk was minutes from the beach and the pool area was unbeatable! I see other reviews regarding the bugs however when you’re that close to the water there is not much u can do about it. All the amenities and fun memories made the bugs completely bearable and no problem at all. Would definitely recommend for any friend get away

Beautiful house, quiet street, ideal location in OBX!
We had a wonderful time at Rod's place! The house is beautiful, with loads of natural light, a fully stocked kitchen, and outdoor grill. It's truly a 1 min walk from the beach. We really enjoyed using the bikes to go into Duck for doughnuts in the morning. There were a few delays when we arrived, but Rod was really responsive and took care of everything. We're already planning our next trip back!

Fabulous Get Away!!
This property was amazing!! Enough room for all of us to spread out! The pool and hot tub were a big hit with the kids. The proximity to the ocean was perfect for the adults! Views were spectacular! We will be back!

We came for a friends beach wedding in the same neighborhood. This house was perfect!
My friends and I loved the house! To me it was a “river house” at the beach. Cute rustic decor, lots of space and great open floor plan! There was a little mix up about the lines service but other than that it was great! Pool area is so nice and we really enjoyed the hot tub! The location is great! A quick walk to the beach, a quick walk or ride to town. The owner always responded quickly to my questions and messages! We are already talking about the next time!

Great Family Stay
We had a great time. Duck has a lot to offer and it’s just a short distance to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. House was clean and stocked. Not meticulously clean but it is a cottage and a bit older. We loved the hot tub! And knowing that it was clean was a huge plus. Very short walk to the beach... short bike ride to the sound where there is a small beach with a dock. Comfy living room with plenty of lounging. Bottom door was hard to lock and unlock but not a big issue. Lots of different decks to hide out on. Not the best view; mostly houses and back yards. Signing into the roku was a pain, having basic tv would have been nice but in this day in age I guess it’s a given that people have their own digital video accounts. Overall a great vacation!

The house has plenty of space and we loved a bathroom on every level. It has one of the best stocked kitchens we’ve seen which made it easy to make meals for our family. The main level is wonderful for families with its comfy furniture, huge island, and wide open sight lines to keep an eye on the kids. Lounging by the pool was great when we couldn’t be on the beach and the hot tub was a fun bonus. The beach is just a short walk from house - easy enough for our 3 and 6 year old girls to make without complaints. Mr. Ferguson was easy to reach with any questions we had as well. My six year old cried the night we packed and said she never wanted to leave. Definitely felt like home away from home! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

House has potential but needs work. Kitchen backsplash is coming off wall due to possible water damage. Signs of other water damage exist as well. Water damage, when not properly remediated, can lead to mold.Bathrooms are in need of updating or minimally a deep cleaning. As a previous reviewer wrote, the deadbolts are indeed a hazard as they are very difficult to unlock. The stairs on the back deck look relatively new but wobble. Pool was nice and maintained while we were there.

Great location, family friendly
Great location, beautiful house, and the pool! a must have.
Working with the owner was so easy and he was extremely supportive especially when I didn't know if I could make the trip due to the Covid pandemic. It all worked out and was a fabulous family vacation in a beautiful neighborhood.

Great Location, but needs issues resolved.
The property was exactly as advertised and the location was great. Rod answered his phone and responded to emails, so I want to provide positive before the negative. I contacted the owner about roaches on day 2 of my arrival, they did not show up until the following Monday. There were many roaches, spiders in beds and big water bugs in multiple rooms. If we were not there for 2 weeks, we would have never seen the Exterminator during our stay.
The pool needs to be serviced and the electrical should be reviewed. Each individual were shocked when they stuck their feet in the pool, when I raised this concern to the owner, he acknowledged the issue but minimized this problem. This is a serious problem that left our family concerned with our safety and we were concerned with re-entering the pool.
Lastly, all deadbolts need to be replaced. You literally cannot unlock the deadbolts when they are locked. It would take us 1-2 minutes to unlock the bolt. God forbid we had a fire, it would be difficult to unlock the deadbolts and get out. You had to play with all locks to get them unlocked.

Beautiful stay!
Myself and best Friend and our children (12 & 13) stayed for a week and it was the perfect relaxing stay at a reasonable price. The pool and hot tub are amazing!! The open floor plan of the living space was wonderful. Access to the ocean and bay were easy to find and a nice walking. We truly enjoyed our stay and the owner responds very promptly to any concerns. Would definitely stay again!! Only possible downside, could use some minor upgrades to the house such as bathrooms and kitchen.

Family beach trip
We had a fantastic time for our first time in the Outer Banks. The weather was very rainy and cool the week we were there but the house had everything we needed to stay comfortable. We had 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in ages from 3yo-9yo. The hot tub was used frequently due to the cooler weather and the pool was nice to relax at once the weather warmed up. The beach had some of the softest sand we have felt and the waves were perfect for boogie boarding. We have no complaints and only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Great rental close to the beach
We enjoyed our stay at Rod's rental. It was roomy enough to fit 10 of us comfortably (4 were kids). The pool and hot tub were great and well maintained. Walk to the beach was quick and beach access was easy. We had a few minor issues initially, but Rod was easy to contact and responded quickly.

Family Beach Trip
Had a great stay at this property! Started off with a rocky start with the cleaning company not arriving until after check in time and doing a quick job. But Ron addressed the situation quickly and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Lots of beach stuff to use, kitchen ware to cook with, games, books etc. Home was a short walk to the beach and the buggie that was provided was a huge help! Would stay again!

Glad to be home from N. Carolina
Conveniently located to beach and local shopping and attractions.
Strong wifi. This day and age a must.
Hot tub was a nice feature. Either new or well maintained.
Pool was great. Service comes regularly to vac and clean.
Rented linens, didn't get what we paid for. Notified owner twice. No result. Short wash cloths and sheets.
Expected bugs, got more than we paid for. Ants in in bedrooms and kitchen. Exterminator came. Stirred up American cockroaches. Lots of spiders inside and out.
Plumbing fixtures need some updating. Minimal water in shower. Couldn't wait to get home to my own.
Kitchen faucet could use a day long soak in CLR.
Drink cooler didn't keep drinks cold.
Need some electrical work done. Outlets and ceiling fans. Downstairs bathroom light and exhaust fan.
Take lots of bottled water. Local water isn't good for drinking or ice cubes.
Rear deck recently worked on. Keep working.
