Superb

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher review score...I thought it was great. The room was comfortable, clean and well-appointed. Nice white sheets, decent en suite shower room, large room with TV. The location was good for exploring the city. I'm not sure what more you could want, for this price, and I would certainly stay here again if I should be in Semey. Thanks for having me!

Nice, friendly place

Very welcoming and helpful staff, especially at reception. Nice spacious room. The hotel is in a conveniently central location as well. I had a very pleasant stay here.

great location, very helpful staff, good cleaning . Change of bed linen and towels on request without any problems. Many thanks to the staff for the sensitive attitude towards customers.

The pillows were nice. (!)

This is essentially a dormitory, not a hotel. The front door is locked at night...so you have to ring to get back in. Rooms are VERY basic... including not having closets! The doors lock via a simple pin in the handle. The walls are thin. How thin? My room, directly opposite the Reception Desk, afforded me the chance to hear the comings and goings of guests all night. The beds are hard. The work desk is small and the stool is smaller. In sum: REALLY not comfortable. Then, upon checkout (at 10 am), the front desk person said she could not process a credit card payment or even a receipt for a cash payment "since the bookkeeper was out." Never again!

Great value, adequate accommodations.

The location is excellent for access to the Abai museum and Dostoevsky museum, as well as the city center and Central Park. The accommodations are spartan, but clean, and the staff were extremely helpful.

The room was quite small, but adequate. Not a place that you want to spend much time in, but fine if you're planning to get out and about the city and primarily need a place to sleep. We may be back.

Very good

The lady on reception was very helpful. We arrived late and she happily arranged some food delivery for us. The room was spacious with a bedroom and lounge area.

Superb

The hotel was basic but good, clean and in excellent position. The girl at the reception did not speak English but with google translate we managed the conversation. There is also an affordable laundry service ready in one day.

Your Home in Semey

In a city that many would categorize as architecturally hostile, and navigationally nightmarish, Semey City Hotel is an calm oasis. As soon as you steps through their doors you'll be met with a fantastic and professional staff. They will try to arrange the best stay possible and really made the stay pleasurable and smooth. The design is simple, yet, it is very easy to feel a homely atmosphere. It is safe, quite comfortable and just the "home" you need in a city that can be challenging for an inexperienced traveller.

The room became really hot and stuffy as there were no air conditioners. The only way to refresh/cool down the room was by keeping the windows open, however as the hotel is close to a busy street it'll be quite loud until 01:00-02:00. Any other negative aspects are irrelevant due to the price. You cannot expect it to be a 4 or 5 stars hotel, expect a simple, classic 3 stars hotel.
