Our family of 6 adults stayed 4 nights to celebrate my son's graduation from Bowdoin College. We can only echo all the 5 star reviews: the view & space were even better than expected & we loved coming back to such a relaxing location in between events. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, kayaking/paddle-boarding, sitting on the deck/screened porch, lying on the peaceful dock, and watching the eagles & osprey. We all felt it was the waterfront house we wished were in our own family! It's an older home but with great modern upgrades & the personal decor & lived-in feel makes it so cozy. Judy & Hugh are gracious. lovely hosts who provide tons of information about the house & region. It was a delight to meet them & be able to share their treasured home. If you don't enjoy waking up early to birdsong or light, pack some ear plugs & an eye shade & you will sleep well in the comfy beds. We hope to stay again to explore more of the beautiful coast of Maine!

This was our fourth annual autumn trip to Graywoods. Such a wonderful home and location. Highlights included hiking at Bradbury Mountain, Morse Mountain and Popham. The eagles outdid themselves this year, always a wonder to watch. We have already reserved for next year!

Lovely rental..we have done a yearly trip for several years now and this "home" was one of the best. Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms to meet our needs. A well equipped kitchen with the added perks of an ice machine and a wine cooler was quite a surprise. Judy and Hugh were very attentive and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. We just may do a repeat of this location.

We needed a kitchen for cooking, a big table for games, and plenty of room to spread out and we found all that and more at Graywoods! The stars at night, the breathtaking sunrises, the views, the Eagles! This family home is full of memories and we are so happy we were able to make our own here, too!

Graywoods is an all around great property. It is casual, kind of quirky and lots of fun. A great place for just relaxing but also there are plenty of good attractions in the nearby area. We highly recommend staying here. I good place for family gatherings or for shared time with friends.

This was our second stay at "Graywoods" and I hope it is not our last. The location is wonderful and the home is warm and charming. It's like being invited to stay in your best friend's home. The upgrades made since our first visit in 2017 reinforce my 5 out of 5 rating.

Graywoods in May
This was our second visit to Graywoods and it was again wonderful. We enjoyed watching the family of eagles in their nest. Trips to Reid and Popham, a boat tour up the Kennebec, and evening fires were favorite memories. We have booked again for October. Many thanks to Judy and Hugh for sharing this lovely home.

Eagles eagles eagles!!!
The views were amazing. The eagles are the key to this place though. Once in a lifetime opportunity to sit in a hot tub and watch eagles fly in and out. Hard to beat!!

Lovely home and host
The home is lovely and charming. The views are fabulous. We enjoyed some interesting time together staring back at the pair of eagles who had a large nest on the property while we were relaxing in the hot tub on the back deck.
The home was very clean and well organized. Made us feel right at home.

Winter wonderland
We needed a place to stay for a week as out floors were replaced/refinished at our home in downtown Bath. Staying here was such a fun experience! A miniature vacation two miles from home, hot tub every night for a week, and a lovely dinner with the owner's grandson on our last night there. Lovely!

Wonderful Stay
This is a great house in a beautiful, quiet, private location. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out and the house is very well equip for anything you might need during your stay. We loved looking at all the interesting art work and memories throughout the house as well as watching the eagles and other wildlife outside. Judy was a fantastic host and her communication was great - she made sure we had everything we needed and provided a lot of details to help us plan our trip. We visited a lot of the surrounding area including Bath, Camden, Rockland, Thomaston, Popham Beach...all of which were easy drives from this location. I would definitely recommend if you have the opportunity to stay here you take it and hope to visit again some day.

Beautiful place, wonderful owners
We've stayed here twice and each time everyone loved the house and the view. Great place for eagle watching, there's a nest on a tree 100 feet from the house. The Tilsons are incredibly accomodating and friendly, as are the neighbors! Highly recommended.

October weekend
My husband and I, along with my siblings, have just returned from a lovely weekend at Graywoods. The house and environs are just beautiful. There is beautiful and interesting art throughout the house, very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and many good spaces for gathering and visiting. We enjoyed the local beaches and had fun exploring Bath, a city we have driven by on US 1 so many times without knowing it’s many charms. We also were mesmerized and entertained through the weekend by a pair ever present bald eagles… such a delight!

A great and relaxing place to stay.
We stayed at Graywoods in October and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Graywoods is an interesting and fun place to stay. The River location is perfect. It’s peaceful and calming. We found it to be a great place to relax, if that’s what you want to do.
Larger groups will find that there is plenty of space to spread our as there are several distinct gathering areas both inside and outside of the house. It is obviously a “family home” with lots of interesting artwork and memorabilia. The beds, bedding, linens, etc were first class and the owners do all that they possibly can to ensure that their guests will enjoy both the property and the area.
Overall, we had a great stay and hope to return in the future.

Maine Attraction
The owners were super friendly and did the best job of communicating with me of any of my past VRBOs and I have had good ones. The house, grounds and views wowed me, a great get away, yet close to many of the things I love about Maine. I want to come back and bring my kids.

The house is perfect.
This is a great house for a family vacation. There is a large dinning room/kitchen and living room area to hang out together. It is very welcoming and you can tell from the decorations and furniture that the house is full of many great memories. You overlook the Back River, so it is surprisingly quiet and secluded. You are in close proximity both Ried State Park and Popham Beach - two of probably the most beautiful beaches in Maine. We were there for Christmas and spent most of our time by the fire doing a jigsaw puzzle. The hoste was very thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful View - Everything You Could Possibly Need
Judy and Hugh were wonderful hosts. They communicated before and during our stay to ensure we had all the information we needed. They even gave us great dining tips. The morning view was the best part of our stay. You could feel the stress melting away.

Weekend get away during a pandemic
We were looking for a place to get away for a long weekend with some friends and family (including 3 dogs!). Property was beautiful and perfect for the dogs to run around, didn't have to worry about a busy street. The house is close to grocery stores, state parks and farmers markets - and equipped to have "family dinner." We also loved how it was less touristy than the southern areas in Maine. Ultimately we will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone else looking for a quiet get away!

A piece of paradise
Our family of six adults stayed for four nights at the end of September. Communication with the owners was superb with plenty of recommendations. The house is a gem: beautiful views of the water from almost every room, open concept first floor with a kitchen that has everything one could possibly need, outside space was plentiful (screened in porch, deck, grill, hot tub, fire pit, a swing - also a dock with kayaks, canoe and paddle boards). Every day was a nature show with the changing weather patterns, birds and resident eagles. We feel so fortunate to have found this place. Sure hope we can meet there again some day.

Magnificent home and a beautiful location!
I stayed at Graywoods with two friends and we absolutely loved our accommodations. Judy and Hugh were wonderful hosts. Very helpful with info if we asked, but gave us total privacy. There place is filled with "do's!" Do cut some fresh flowers, do use the fireplace, do help yourself to the wonderful activities in and around the home. The beds and bedding were super comfortable and luxurious. Everything was better than expected. We enjoyed day trips, and found ourselves spending lots of time relaxing and looking out over the water. Judy and Hugh are so generous to offer their home to guests. Thank you!

Large house on Beautiful, Waterfront Property
Our family loved the setting of this bright, light house, with views of the water from the continuous windows in the large sitting/dining room and from the wraparound deck. It sits on an extensive piece of property consisting of woods, lawns and beautiful flower gardens, along Nequasset Brook, even though very near Route 1 in a neighborhood of small houses. We particularly enjoyed watching the eagles and seals and kayaking from the dock on the property.
The house dates from the nineteenth century, but the kitchen was renovated a while back and has modern appliances; the bathrooms are large with strong showers. Our grandson adored all the books and toys in the house and the hot tub on the deck, although the mosquitoes were active after supper one night. The walk or jog to Bath is not all beautiful (the view of the Kennebec is and grandson loved the shipyard cranes), but the traffic over the Route 1 bridge was a little stressful taking dogs and little kids. We did like walking around town and having ice cream Two good beaches are 30 minutes away and there are nice hiking trails, especially for children, nearby too. Owners were friendly and helpful. Overall a great vacation house for a family with children and dogs!

Wonderful property with beautiful scenic view
All of our questions were answered promptly by these home owners. We had a great reunion of 6 friends here. We had our coffee watching beautiful sunrises over the river and eagles fly. This is a well stocked kitchen in which you could prepare a meal together. Wonderful porches and comfortable family area to enjoy a glass of wine together. There were a myriad of great restaurants and fun diners to explore and lobster everywhere. We visited lighthouses, took a ride into Bar Harbor to walk along a rocky coast, a shopping trip to LLBean and had an interesting day at the Bath Museum. This is a wonderful area with lots to do.

Graywoods home
I’ve been renting thru Vrbo for many years and I’ve never been disappointed, but this house however takes the cake!!! It was truly magnificent !!! The home is absolutely stunning and has something to offer for everyone. Judy and Hugh have provided for everything from canoes ,kayaks and a paddle board for the adventure types to a bathrobe hanging on each bedroom door for guests to use!. if you enjoy cooking like I do the kitchen is a chefs dream. I hosted a party of fourteen for a small family reunion that turned out fantastic. The home is also very child friendly . The views are breath taking we even saw a bald eagle that has a nest on the property. This home is so special I’m so glad I found it I know I will be staying here again.

Perfection!
Everything about Greywoods was PERFECT! From the initial communication with the owners, to the check-in process and someone coming by to be sure everything was alright! The location is ideal, the views and setting is amazing, almost surreal the view you have overlooking the water and the wildlife. We watched Eagles all weekend, kayaked and paddleboarded, enjoyed time on the deck and in the hot tub. It was truely a magical experience and none of us wanted to leave.
The home clean and well kept with great artwork and details - perfect for a multi-family/multi-generational group.
Thank you so much! If we're back in Bath, or know anyone coming that way we will be back or recommend.
Thank you for making your special place available!
