About this apartment rental
You'll be sitting on top of the world at this spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bath Penthouse with an open living room and fully-equipped kitchen.
The jaw-dropping 270-degree view includes Diamond Head, sweeping ocean view, Ala Wai Canal, Ala Wai golf course, Ft DeRussy park, the beautiful Koolau Mountain range, sunrises AND sunsets!
The penthouse is excellent for families and friends; less expensive than a hotel, has a full kitchen, and at over 1000 square feet (large by Waikiki standards), the penthouse will comfortably sleep 6. The ocean-side primary bedroom has a king bed, the Diamond Head-side primary bedroom has two full beds, and the living room has a new high-quality Queen sofa bed. In addition, we have a crib available at no charge. The bedrooms, living/dining room and kitchen all have spectacular views. Every Friday night, you can watch the fireworks launched from the nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village, and on special occasions, you'll see a bigger show on Waikiki Beach.
You'll have a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, blender, coffee pot and grinder, pots and pans, silverware and just about anything else you need. To top it off, the kitchen has a panoramic ocean view!
One bathroom features a Japanese-style deep bathtub (furo) with a shower. The second bathroom has a walk-in shower. You'll also have your own washer and dryer in the penthouse.
A supply cabinet contains beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels and assorted beach items.
You'll enjoy the huge recreation deck with large swimming pool, hot tub, barbecue grills, picnic tables and lounge chairs. There are no resort fees to use these facilities. Also on site is a new fitness center which is ALMOST free: it only costs $5 for your entire stay (not per day!).
There is a large flat-screen TV with cable service and Roku. The free high-speed WIFI is your private network, not shared with other units, and is powerful enough for the whole family to share their vacation experience.
The Hawaii Convention Center is within walking distance, as are the Hilton Hawaiian Village and other venues where conventions are held. If you must do business while in Waikiki there is a desk in one of the bedrooms and also a nook in the dining area.
The Hawaiian Monarch is a mixture of hotel-owned and privately-owned units. There are only three other penthouses on the same floor. Four elevators provide access. Our penthouse is privately owned, managed, and maintained; it is not part of the hotel pool.
Parking is available in the onsite parking garage. The garage is privately owned and the rate at the time of this writing is $40/day with full in and out privileges. Parking is not included in the rent as most of our guests do not rent a car. The penthouse has a Walk Score of 92 (out of 100). Some guests rent a car for a day of exploring from one of the nearby car rental companies. Turo is available for car rentals, too.

Within walking distance are many restaurants and shopping, including Ala Moana Shopping Center, resorts, grocery and convenience stores, music venues, sports bar, post office, green parks, Waikiki Beach Walk, and of course, Waikiki Beach itself!
Waikiki and the surrounding area have a gazillion things to do. Of course, there is the world's most famous beach. Many water sports are available, including surfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing and more. There is shopping for everything from souvenir trinkets to high-end luxury stores and everything in between.
Hear world-class music at many resorts, such as Blue Note Jazz Club, the Waikiki Shell, the Blaisdell Arena, and local musicians playing rock, jazz, and, of course, the soothing sound of Hawaiian music.
Honolulu has an extensive public bus system and a bus stop across the street from the penthouse. Buses reach many areas over the island, including major destinations such as Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, Chinatown, Honolulu Airport, Honolulu Zoo, The Aquarium and others.
In addition to all these visitor attractions, something else makes it worth coming to Hawaii: the Hawaiian culture. Aloha is a real thing, not just a buzzword. You'll know it when you experience it. We encourage you to learn about the culture and history via the many museums and personally connect with Hawaiian people.
Our local weather person likes to say we have 'the best weather on the planet'. Is it cold where you are? Come to Waikiki and warm up! Are you suffering from unbearable heat and humidity? Come to Waikiki and cool off! Our average daily temperature is low to mid-80s F/ 27 C all year.

Great views and location! Very clean unit! Steve was excellent and answered all my questions! We would definitely stay here again! Mahalo

Beautiful views and a nice spacious place. The building itself is a little run down and parking is expensive ($45/day). Beach is a far walk (20-30 minutes one way).
One couch is on its last legs and we were afraid to sit on it as it looked like the legs would break off. Not enough soap, shampoo, etc (our family of five, staying for eight nights was giving the very small -- 2 oz -- shampoos and hand soaps about the size of a silver dollar).
The beach items were a big plus, and much appreciated. A 7-11 near the lobby was very convenient.
We had a car, so everything worked out really well, but without a car going to and from the beach would have been tough with our group size and things we were carrying.
4.7
Steve was great. Would stay again. A little bit further from the Main Street than we would have liked. But over all nice place.
4.7
Great location and plenty of room for 6 people!
4.7
Steve’s condo is comfortable, very clean and has everything you need. The views are amazing and the beds very comfortable. We will be booking again next time we are headed to Hawaii.

From start to finish our trip was fantastic thanks to the first class comfort of our stay at this location. Mahalo to the team there in Waikiki.

This was our first time in Hawaii, and this property was perfect! It was spacious, clean and was within walking distance of so many amazing places. Would highly recommend!
4.7
This is a wonderful vacation rental with terrific views! The beach is about 1 km. away (not very far to walk at all) and there are restaurants and food trucks close by. We enjoyed walking along the canal too.
4.7
The condo was very comfortable and clean. The view is outstanding being able to see the ocean and Diamond Head. We can also see the fireworks from the Hilton on Friday night. The building is older but the security is good. We would stay again

This has to be one of the best apartment rentals we have ever had anywhere in the world! The description and photos were absolutely spot on, and the apartment was exactly as presented -- but better, because the view was incredible! We stayed a week, and still did not tire of just looking out the windows! Steve, the owner, was great. He provided timely and excellent advice and suggestions, such as the weekly farmer's markets. He was always immediately responsive and available, and was genuinely interested in making sure that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable visit. And we certainly did! The furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. The Roku TV was also an added benefit! The hotel elevators were prompt and efficient, and the coffee shop in the lobby provided excellent pastries and coffee if desired in the mornings. We truly could not have asked for a better place to stay in Waikiki, and will definitely plan on a return visit!

From the first time we made contact with Steve, everything was so smooth. He kept in contact with us throughout arrival and departure. The building is in a prime location, overlooking Wakakki Beach. Walking distance to food venues, bars shopping..etc.
We only had to use our rental car 1 day, because we went to the Punchbowl Cemetery, and took a ride to see a waterfall. The penthouse was clean and fully equipped. We just had to find a market to get water, coffee, etc. That was all in walking distance. I highly recommend a stay here on your next visit to Oahu. Thanks for everything.

Nice place. Host attention to detail is great. View is spectacular

The penthouse was perfect for what we needed. Closest to Waikiki and nightlife. Close to restaurants. Clean and spacious area for our family of 5 (3 teenagers and 2 parents) It came well equipped with beach necessities as well. 2 boogie boards and beach chairs, towels etc. the VIEW is breathtaking. See diamond head, the ocean, sunrises and rainbows from every window!

Steve is an absolute super-host and made check-in and all communication seamless. He was so quick to respond to all emails and questions and was very helpful. Fantastic host in every respect.
The location of the building is close enough to a great beach and downtown. We had to use Uber and taxis for some destinations, but typically walked everywhere. The building itself is older and very dated, but it had basic but adequate facilities (pool, hot tubs, workout room). Another huge plus was two closets filled with beach equipment (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.)
The condo we stayed in was definitely dated and older, but it was clean. All things needed for kitchen/laundry were provided and made it easy for cooking and keeping up with clean towels for our group. There were only two things that were sub-par. The AC is VERY LOUD and awkward, and it did not work half of the time in one bedroom. Steve was aware and had waited quite a long time for a repair person who was coming the day we left. The second issue was the king bed was extremely hard, and I ended up sleeping on the couch every night. But other than a few other aesthetic things, the condo served our purpose well, and we would recommend it because of the view, amenities, and gracious staff who work there. And as already mentioned, Steve is a fantastic host. If you don’t need or care about updated/fancy accommodations, this is your place.

The Sisters enjoyed our stay on Honolulu and the people at the Hawaiian Monarch were very courteous, from the security personnel, to the individual Owner Steve. Beds were comfortable, we cooked several meals in their fully equipped kitchen and watched movies with easy Roku devices. The views were spectacular and it was very quiet. The pool and jacuzzi needed to be cleaned on the day we used them and this area is shared with the Monarch's other unit owners. Security is good and we always felt safe. It was a wonderful time. Aloha

Lovely place. Everything was perfect and exactly what we needed. The views are stunning and the house is very comfortable. Steve was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this place!

This condo is perfect. It is exactly as advertised. It is clean and stocked with everything you will need. It is very spacious. The views are absolutely breathtaking! You can see the ocean, Diamond Head, the canal and much more from any window in the condo. It is about a 20 minute walk to the beach. There are numerous stores and restaurants within walking distance of the condo as well. The pool and hot tubs are wonderful. There are plenty of lounge chairs and an outdoor cooking area! Steve is an amazing host and answered all of the questions that I had. He also checked in with us during our stay to make sure we were ok and didn’t need anything. We had a small issue with a thermostat and he had it fixed within 20 minutes. We loved everything about the condo and would definitely stay here again!

Firstly, Steve was great. Very helpful. The views from the penthouse were spectacular, and in a great location. The penthouse was clean and tidy, but in need of updating. One of the sofas legs broke, and Steve couldn’t fix it, so had to remove all the legs, which felt like you were sitting on the floor ! The other sofa had a cover on it, which I presume was to conceal something. A bathroom light smashed whilst we were watching tv. Made us all jump at the sound of breaking glass ! A towel rail fell off, one of the hairdryers was faulty and tripped the fuse panel. There was a couple of cupboards that were falling apart. We also experienced a power cut and the internet stopped working for the last couple of days, which is obviously no one’s fault. One of the worst things though, was the elevators. Most of the time only 1 seemed to be working. This meant that it took forever to get up and down due to the amount of people using them, and when they were busy, the heat was awful. My wife almost passed out once. The ac in the master bedroom kept going off too.
Other than these points, we had a great time, but wouldn’t go somewhere that old again. I believe the hotel in which the penthouse is located, is a 2 star, which is probably right
4.7
Parking is terrible, sometimes it take 20-30 minutes wait time to get a parking spot. Clearance is 6ft and 2 inches, so if you have bigger vehicles, it is hard. Other thing is elevators, it is worst, it takes 5 minutes sometimes.
4.7
Great location, great host
4.7
Everyday, the four of us enjoyed the views from the penthouse windows. The ocean and sky went on forever. The views at night were were just as magical as the day with lights glittering like a magic forest. The living space was spacious, the beds comfortable, the showers had good force and all was clean.
4.7
This penthouse was an amazing find! It was quiet and had two actual bedrooms, not an accordion wall to separate rooms and 2 full bathrooms like a lot of other places. It may have been the cleanest place I've ever rented! Steve was always quick to respond and the penthouse had all we needed to enjoy the beach (ice chest, chairs, sand toys, body boards, and umbrella). We could walk to many restaurants and the beach. The elevator can take some time, but the views are amazing! Parking is $40 a day which is quite pricey if you rent a car.
4.7
We had a wonderful week. The host Steve Marcotte was very helpful and communicated well. We had a fun time. I highly recommend this property!
4.7
Nothing more to say but it was awesome. Fantastic location and views, easy check in, great host communication, super considerate host, clear instructions, and it is in Hawaii!
4.7
Property had everything we needed along with spectacular views of the city and the ocean.
4.7
This property was so awesome. The pictures match the property to a "T". The property manager, Steve Marcotte, stayed on top of everything from the reservation to after we got home. He was able to answer all of our questions, provide insight of things to do locally. He was very attentative to any and all needs we had. He checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying the property to the fussest. I would totally recommend going through him if/when you need a place to stay while visiting Oahu.
4.7
The owner was very nice and answered all of my questions. He reached out right away when we arrived to make sure everything was good. The location is very convenient. We enjoyed the Cream Pot restaurant on the lower level for breakfast and the Pizza place is yummy.! You need to walk down to the lowest level and order the pizza in person. The Penthouse is spacious and we appreciated having a small cooler available for us to use as well as beach towels. The carpets had just been cleaned we arrived. Plenty of towels and the bed linens were fresh. The views really make the stay!
4.7
Excellent condo the views were awesome close to e erything close to beaches
4.7
The room was nice and clean. Very organized. It is old and you can tell it has been dated for a while but the location made up for it. The elevator worked 2 out of the 3 but we still didn’t have to wait too long for it.
Fairly easy to get to and has a great view.
4.7
Property manager was excellent. View outstanding

The building and the unit is dated. But the room was very clean and the view was amazing.
My husband, my parents total 4 adults could stay comfortably
4.7
This condo has amazing views and was centrally located. It was a short walk through a beautiful park to Waikiki Beach. Steve was an amazing host answered all questions quickly and took care of a minor problem within minutes! I would say the area did have a fair amount of sirens and traffic that I wouldn’t have expected to hear but we did. The people that we met were are so very friendly and helpful. The parking fee was a little steep - at 40 a night but frankly we would not have had to rent a car. We went to the North Shores to see that area and there was a trolley you could have taken. The same for the windward sign - which by the was was just beautiful! We saw whales, watched surfers. A trolley was also available here. If I was to go again I’d skip the car rental or get a smart car for one or two days at the property for much less! Overall I’d rate this a 5 and would not hesitate to rent again.
4.7
This condo was perfect for two couples. We loved the location and view of Waikiki and Diamond Head! Arrived after dark so was fun to see city lights and then to watch the sunrise in the morning. Steve does a great job communicating and checked in on us a couple times. Side note… check out Tantalus Lookout for a beautiful panoramic view over city from Diamond Head to airport…. Well worth the drive up the hill… go all the way to the top and watch a beautiful sunset.
4.7
Incredible Penthouse View.
Roomy clean space.
Walking distance to the beach and shopping!
This is a bit dated, but we’ll maintained and ultimately the incredible views and the roomy rooms, spells luxury.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
4.7
Beautiful views from the penthouse. Everything was as described in the listing. Easy access to shops in town and the beach. Would definitely recommend
4.7
The penthouse was beautiful and comfy, views were outstanding and location was perfect! The convenance of the garage right off the elevators was an added bonus. Walking to the beach and the heart of Waikiki was within a mile or so and felt safe and very easy. Steve was very helpful and responded to my questions very quickly. I would definitely stay here again!
4.7
This condo was even better than we expected! I thought I would miss not having a lanai, but the panoramic views were so breathtaking day and night that I never did. The condo is more spacious than I expected, and having a second bathroom was very nice. The unit was very clean, the location was great (we walked to the beach just a few blocks and the on site pizza shop and neighboring 7/11 provided all we needed for 3 nights. The instructions sent by Steve were very clear and when we had one question he answered us right away. He checked in with us throughout our stay to be sure all was well! The extras provided on the closet for the beach such as boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers etc were a very nice touch. We would absolutely stay here again!
