location
The property is dated, badly looked after, not clean. We found dog poop at the entrance and host didn’t clean it. Simply disgusting

Nice location, helpful host, enjoyable stay!

The space, layout and especially size of the shower. The location is obviously superb.
Being told not to use a hob because it will trip the electrics is ridiculous. Dusty and dirty drawers making us unable to store clothes is ridiculous. Broken knives, rusted and moldy scouring pads, "diy" "fixes" to various cupboards and furniture, broken radiator, flickering lights (electrical state of the place in general including cable management), tiny drying rack for clothes, bedroom door does not fit in the doorway without considerable force because of broken hinge...
All solveable issues that haven't been solved due to lack of investment in what could be an astoundingly good property.

Excellent. Although it was a very cold period, the apartment was lovely and warm with a great shower. Sky TV also a bonus. Off street parking very handy. Very clean.
The mattress was too soft for my liking.

The whole house was filthy . Used & part finished items in an unclean fridge & opened products in the bathroom were unhygienic. Kitchen counters was covered in sugar & crumbs from previous guests. Crockery cupboards & cutlery tray were grimes & dusty . Sheets of Cobwebs were hanging from light fittings . TV signal intermittent. Lights flashing on & off. Did not even look in the oven or washing machine as had no intention of using them. Reason for visit was to see my elderly mother over the Xmas period . Had hoped to bring my mother to Bell Cottage as a change of scene for her but the place was unacceptable for this purpose. Instead we merely slept there & ate all meals out . We couldn’t leave as it was Xmas & we had no where else to go . Know how Mary & Joseph felt now .Access was down a back street so not easy to find. Parking was cramped for the amount of cars . Some parked behind others . We were woken around 6 in the morning to move our car as another resident wanted to get his car out . Instead we merely slept there & ate all meals out .The beds were comfortable enough. Bedding was creased but clean.Yard outside was full of detritus which included dog poo .

Location was perfect, beds comfy, well equipped kitchen good shower and plenty of hot water.
Everything was a little tired and worn round the edges. Very old appliances & messy outside area.

off street parking, (but you had to move your car when the owner wanted to go out) and comfortable bed.
Lots of furniture in a small space.
wifi not strong and the tv was temperamental. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. The owner did show us how to fit it, but the problem continued.

The accommodation was very clean, situated in a quiet area and the host was helpful and friendly.
There's a big TV in the living room, the kitchen has all the utensils needed, dishwasher machine, kettle and stove/cooker.
Walking distance from Morrisons and Sainsbury's supermarkets, as well as from some nice takeaway food shops and restaurants. If you're travelling for business near Hoddesdon industrial area, this is a very good option, as you can walk there, avoiding traffic.
This was not a problem for me, but the master bedroom bed is comprised by two single beds joined together.

Location was good, was pefect for our needs.
Found the bed too soft, used to a much harder mattress. Found the couches very low and again too soft, on the blue couch the cushion kept sliding inside the frame which made sitting uncomfortable at times.

This little granny flat is in a fantastic location in the centre of town. Supermarket just over the road. Close to pubs, cafes, shops, post office etc.
Sadly, the hosts seem to have “ lost their way” when it comes to the standards expected for travellers. There are many small details that just make you wonder if anyone has actually ever picked up a cleaning cloth.
The first thing that hits you is the old , dowdy blinds at the door. Followed by the rather odd odour . There are maybe 8? “room smellies” on shelves in the lounge/kitchen ….except most of those had dried up & should have been in the bin long ago. This continued in the bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom had dried flowers from maybe the 1950s .. they looked that tired! Well past their look. Rusty bathroom racks & rusty towel rail. Even the bleach bottle looked like you didn’t want to touch it. Bathroom towels are…..Ho hum. I’d have used them as cleaning rags by now. Hot water was the one positive.
Bedroom is cluttered with a 3 door wardrobe and two chest of drawers that have both been crying out for replacement. The bed is uncomfortable , and creaky. pillows have no support at all and would be years old as well, I’d imagine. Old fashioned portable tv and radio on the drawers. Plenty of hangers. Bedside lamps have broken metal bits.
Back to the lounge. The hosts urgently need to replace the two old, broken, uncomfortable sofas, maybe even the chair as well. Get a tv that doesn’t have issues. The two 3 seaters just clutter the room and there’s not much space to get past the small , broken, coffee table.
And then the kitchen. There is an overload of pots & pans, juicers, etc…if you can bear to touch them.
There is a thick layer of grease across the kitchen as a whole. We had to wash any plates or a pan we wanted to use before using . The pot handles were greasy. Even the stuff under the sink was greasy. The splash backs need scrubbed. The range hood …ugh just see my photo where my husband cleaned one half. There were even crumbs on the toaster. That’s a two second job but leaves a lasting, negative impression !

Location was very good - the flat was clean and well equipped although a bit aged.
The parking was a little difficult. The booking was originally for 4 people but it wasn’t obvious where the 4th person would have slept.

Good location, cheap lodge for the week, owner was friendly enough.
The place was generally tidy but was in need of a deep clean, the scum around the tiles in the bathroom around the toilet and sink area was disgusting, when we wiped the worktop down after washing the pots, the scum we removed from where the sink meets the worktop was unbelievable but we cleaned it ourselves and moved on, 1 of the hobs didn't work and was instructed this would trip the electricity if used! 90% of the plates, cups, cutlery etc still had stains/food on from previous users so had to wash everything thoroughly before use, the hot water tank in the property was intermittent all week, we had 5 minutes of hot water then it stopped working meaning you had to use cold water for your morning wash which isn't the best when its winter. The waste disposal is inadequate, the property waste disposal is shared with the owner and other guest, there was 1 black bin which was taken away half way through the week meaning we had no means of disposing waste, the recycling bin was a small box which got filled very quickly so we had to live with our recycling waste inside the property all week which is something you don't want in your guest house. Outside on the yard, there was some fake grass covering all sorts of problems underneath, uneven slabs, holes, all trip hazards, the yard looked more of a building site in all honesty, there was a couple of piles of dog mess from the owners dogs towards the end of the week aswell. I'd say a dangerous place for families with small children out there.

Location, very central for shops and supermarkets. Morrisons just round the corner, Aldi and Sainsburys easily walkable. Easy access to main roads for getting to other towns. Gayle was extremely helpful with loads of local knowledge about the surrounding areas. Accommodation suited us perfectly, like a home from home. Had a really relaxing week, just what was needed.
The weather!
