Sandcastle Retreat’s location in the Bayshore community is a perfect place to spend quality time with family and friends or for a quiet group retreat.
Annex only included upon request.
Just steps off the deck of this beautifully appointed 3700 sq ft home is the amazing beach this area is known for. Nature lovers will enjoy viewing the Bald Eagles nesting in the evergreens across the bay, pelicans diving for fish, California seals playing in the water or basking on the beach (please keep your distance from them especially the pups) and, during the migration season, whales can be spotted just offshore. We also have Western Snowy Plovers nesting on our shores, please be mindful of these little shore birds. Kids will have great fun on the sand dunes and everyone can enjoy beach combing for treasures from the sea or just enjoying the views of the ocean and bay.
Straight out from the house and to the right is the ocean side where you can enjoy walks on the beach at low tide with body surfing at high tide or just getting your toes wet at low tide.
To the left of the house you can walk over some dunes and explore where Alsea Bay flows into the Pacific Ocean. (Be aware of the tides, as the current can be quite strong, also beware of sneaker waves). Don’t miss the opportunity to set out crab pots, which are available for hire locally (please follow all local laws) to make delicious dinners.
The conditions on the beach change with the season and the weather but always offer opportunities to get in touch with nature.
At night you may enjoy a fire on the beach off the deck and away from the beach grass (please be very careful about extinguishing the fire properly, use water do not cover with sand) or stargazing with wonder at the majesty of the Milky Way.
Indoors at night or on rainy days your group can entertain themselves with ping pong, foosball, puzzles, games, large smart screen TV with wireless internet. Or settle down with a book from our large collection.
Whether indoors or outdoors kids never tire of playing hide and seek.
From the main living area you will enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
The accommodation:
5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths provide lots of space for privacy while 3 large living areas allow for different simultaneous activities and/or meetings.
There are 16 beds of different sizes to choose from, this includes the annex which is only available upon request.
Main house: Upstairs from the main entry, huge picture windows in a spacious living and dining area look out to the dunes and ocean. The u-shaped couch makes it easy to converse or play games. The fully equipped kitchen will inspire the chefs in your group to create delicious meals to be enjoyed around the table that seats 13. There are place settings for 20.
Also on this level is a half bath and owner's bedroom with ocean and dune views with king size bed, en suite bath with accessible walk-in shower.
The main level is wheel chair accessible with a ramp from the carport around the side of the house to the back deck. The ramp is a little steep and sand could make it difficult, we do our best to keep it cleared from the sand. Please use caution.
The upper level of the main house has two bedrooms: one with a queen size bed and an alcove with two twin beds and a crib size mattress. This bedroom is perfect for a family group. The second bedroom has a bunkbed (twin on top, full on bottom plus a twin trundle under). A full bathroom is between these bedrooms. Spectacular views of the beach and bay from this level also.
The lower level of the main house has a huge rec room, another bedroom, full bathroom with tub/shower and laundry room. Spacious couches to lounge on, a large flat screen smart TV and DVD, a foosball, and ping pong table mean this could be the perfect party space. The bedroom on this level is located off to the side with a queen size bed and a bunkbed (full on bottom and twin on top) offering sleeping for another family group. There is a window with a partial view of the bay. A roll out twin bed stored in the closet on this level can be moved out for use.
The annex is located across the carport. In the upstairs there is a living area with full kitchen and dining table seating 6. A comfortable couch and twin daybed with twin pull out trundle offer more sleeping or lounging area to enjoy the flat screen TV. A separate bedroom with king size bed has full bath with shower and tub. The two twin beds in the loft are comfortable for sleeping or as a play area. Many windows offer beautiful views of Alsea bay. The annex is only available upon request.
Plenty of beach towels in a basket outside the laundry room are provided for your convenience.
Two car garage with access to an electrical outlet for electric vehicles with additional washer and dryer.
8 cars total can fit in garage and driveway. No street parking.

Tons of room and beautiful location. Worked perfect for our family and having an adult daughter in a wheelchair, I appreciated the accessibility. Would love to stay here again

We loved our stay, with plenty of space to not feel crowded at all. Enjoyed the ocean and the bay!

This home was perfect!!! The small children could play in the sand off the deck without us worrying about them wandering to the water. All the extra touches made our weekend the best. Thank you

House more than met our expectations, was clean and well-provisioned, and worked very well for a large family group with multiple zones for sleeping and hanging out. Location right on the beach was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We loved being so close to the beach.

We were two families with kids staying for a couple of nights. We had the experience staying in another rental property in a similar price range at the same street in the past.
Pros:
- The house is roomy and its main floor and upstairs are bright and getting good sunlight.
- It is located in the sand and beach which is a great feature for kids.
- We were worried about lack of games for kids, but we got surprised with the plenty of books exist in the house for kids.
Cons:
- The condition for cleanness was not good. Sand exist in the lower bedroom and the attached room to the upper bedroom. Spider webs exist in the drawer of the bed in the lower bedroom. We spotted ants in the main living area and small other insects in the upstairs bedroom.
- We had only one communication with the owner and expecting a faster reply. On the last day, we were short in time to pack for checkout at 11:00am. I sent a text message as well as left a message in the vrbo website to the owner at 9:40am to check whether or not we can get a couple of hours extension. I received a reply accepting our request at 11:05am when we already packed and ready to leave.

This house was perfect for our spring break. The location and views can’t be beat. It had great amenities, with ping pong, foosball, games, a well stocked book shelf, and lots of towels and throw blankets.
The house is listed as accessible, but The only issue we had was that my mom isn’t very mobile and this house was very difficult for her to get into. The accessible entrance wouldn’t have worked if she didn’t have a scooter. She couldn’t walk it and it was too steep for a chair. Also, no grab bars in the accessible shower and the seat isn’t functional. We made it work, but anyone with less mobility might have a difficult time.
Other than that, this house is AMAZING. I highly recommend it.

We had ana amazing time at the beach. 8 women at the beach for the seafood and wine festival. The house was clean, open and airy. Beautiful scenery, walk right out into the sand and not far to from the ocean waters. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house!

We have enjoyed this vacation house for the past 3 Christmas seasons. We plan to continue our family tradition. Our adult daughter and her family; our adult son and his family look forward to it each year.

House worked great for us. Lots of bedrooms and beds and having the annex gave folks who went to bed earlier a quiet space. It was well equipped with dishes, pots and things were organized and labeled at times which helped us find things. Nice short walk over the dunes to the river and ocean. Lots of parking too. We had a great time playing music and enjoying the beach. Would highly recommend!

Positives: Well supplied kitchen, nice cookware, plenty of dinnerware and utensils, easy walk through the dunes to the shoreline, living and dining area adequate space and seating for our group of 8. Enjoyed location!
Negatives: Refrigerator was not cleaned before check-in, a great deal of accumulated sand at entrance and on driveway, house had to be totally opened up and aired out upon arrival. Foul odor in house and annex.

Nicole's home is located in a perfect spot for exploring the central Oregon coast. It is very private and surrounded by sand dunes and water. It is a bit of a walk out to the ocean beach, but if you want closer access for little ones, just pack up the sand toys (we had never seen so many!!!) and beach chairs and drive 2 minutes down the road. Park behind the the Bayshore Club and it is a short walk out to the waves!! There is a great view of the sunset on the little hill in the backyard. On the bay side you can see the harbor seals swimming along the beach in the evening!
There is so much room to spread out especially with the private annex over the garage!
We never ran out of hot water even with more than one person taking a shower! Always a plus!!

We really enjoyed this house. The three living spaces, plus the deck and covered patio, gave our family plenty of room to spread out. There are lots of supplies to have fun at the beach, including beach towels. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and serving. We would consider using this house again.

This was a wonderful house for our family gathering of four generations from four US states. The main house easily accommodated three couples and a single while the annex offered privacy for a fourth couple with their 1-year old daughter, nine adults in all. We made good use of the large dining table when three other adult couples staying nearby joined us for evening meals and games. Everyone enjoyed the short walk over the dunes to see the harbor seals resting on the beach.
Nicole was very easy to work with. We especially appreciated that she arranged to ship a family quilt that was left behind.
The only downside was that the baseboards and window sills had not been cleaned in some time, so that we cleaned them before allowing our 1-year old to go near the windows.

Good spot for a large family vacation. Separate quarters for the little kids made for easy rest and schedules all round.

The house itself had lots of room/rooms - lots of space to spread out including a separate loft area over the garage. Housekeeping needs major improvement which I communicated to the house manager & she agreed. We had some strange people (twice) come to the house. First when we arrived, they said they were checking on the cleaning-they weren't supposed to be there. A 2nd time 2 men arrived stating they were there to work on the house & tried to gain access. I let the house manager know, neither group was supposed to be there & she didn't know who they were. Other than this, it is on a GREAT location on the beach with very easy access.

We had a beautiful weekend with work colleagues. House had ample space for games and potluck meals. We could all sit together at the massive table. The kitchen dish, utensil, cookware selection was vey good! Complete with some left over spices and condiments.
The front clear glass storm door needs a safety sticker. We used some blue painter tape on it to insure no one went through it.
We will definitely consider staying here again.

We find multiple bedding opportunities that appeal to our multi-ages family. We all love the outdoors and eagerly explore the dunes and river and ocean shores. The critters, from squirrels to seals, sea birds and more local Oregon birds abound. The views from our beach home include the dunes, the river flows, the ocean waves and the overhead sunshine, moonshine, stars and/or clouds.

We came for a staff retreat and everything was so wonderful! I have never stayed at a rental home that was so well-equipped! The kitchen had everything we needed and more! There was so much space for everyone and the location was perfect!! We had a wonderful time and I would absolutely come here again and recommend it to everyone!
4.0 / 5.0
We love this place! The pictures are a little deceptive as you can’t really sit on the couch and see the ocean because of a sand bank that comes diagonal to the house. But you can see it when you turn on the deck. Tons of beds, great layout, super easy access for wheelchair. There was one heater in the living room that didn’t work and the only other suggestion I would make would be to invest in better mattresses. The annex bed slanted so much on one side that you could roll off. Other than that, super great place!
