About this house rental
Experience the feeling of unbound freedom and tranquility at LAS VELAS BLANCAS, COSTA RICA, where we have blended the designs of nature with relaxed comfort, simplicity, and beauty.
Unlike any other in its category, Las Velas Blancas is located at the southernmost point of Playa Grande with one hundred (100) meters of beachfront forest facing the breaking surf of Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean, surrounded by evergreen mangrove forests to the east and south.
The property boasts five two-bedroom/bathroom bungalows, a two-story beachfront lounge, swimming pool, poolside kitchen, dining area and living area and teak floor yoga deck.
This property features five two-bedroom bungalows with ensuite bathrooms, equipped with a fully appointed kitchenette with a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, convection countertop oven, microwave oven, and electric skillet. All ten bedrooms are air conditioned, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The property can welcome twenty (20) guests in ten (10) bedrooms.
Prices listed are for ten (10) bedrooms in five (05) bungalows: two (02) bedrooms per bungalow.
Each of the five beachfront bungalows consists of two (02) master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a/c, a fully equipped kitchenette and a covered deck with living and dining area. Each unit has its own private grounds and beach access.
NOTE: For larger parties, along with these five bungalows, we can also open Casa Guayacan that sleeps up to sixteen (16) guests (please view VRBO listing number 1446872). The bungalows and the beach house together can accommodate up to thirty-six (36) guests.
The illuminated swimming pool is at the heart of the amenities area, with the main kitchen, dining facilities, living area and yoga deck on the east side, where a delightful fresh breeze flows constantly. Witness the silent beauty of the most spectacular sunsets.
A short five-minute walk on the beach takes you to the estuary, the natural barrier that separates Playa Grande from the lively surf town of Tamarindo, where you will find a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, shops, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, night life, etc. Pangas (small boats) are always available to ferry you across for a US$2 per person per leg. The estuary is about one hundred (100) meters wide. The boat voyage across the estuary is about one minute.
We recommend our guests to consider our cook’s services. She offers a weekly menu with a variety of tried-and-true delicious recipes that she prepares reliably and consistently. The meals are prepared in the central kitchen and served at the poolside dining area.
Liberia International Airport is seventy (70) kms (43 miles) from Las Velas Blancas (about 75-minute drive, depending on traffic).
Tamarindo is twenty (20) kms from Las Velas Blancas by road (About 30 minutes drive). Tamarindo airport serves domestic flights.
Our concierge will assist you coordinating airport transportation, tours, activities, and rentals.

Hosted my daughter’s wedding on property and everything was perfect! Beautiful bungalows, foliage and beach. Originally was supposed to have reception at a larger pavilion, but it was being repaired. The hosts built a new 2 story pavilion which ended up working well as a back up location. Manfred was great to work with.

This was our third visit to the property, but this was the first 4-night stay that we booked and organized for the occasion of my 50th birthday. We rented both sides of the property (bungalows and main guest house) for 36 friends and family.
The process of booking and working with the team for meals and activities was seamless. Because we had so many guests, it was comforting to know that we had someone working with us to plan this event. We love it here. It’s familiar, calming and secluded, but not too far away from many restaurant and activity options.
The new pool and indoor dining/kitchen area is an excellent addition to the property. However, it was a disappointment that the other pool and corresponding lofted patio were under construction and somewhat neglected due to the new area being open. We were happy to discover that the pool was still open and functioning, but the kitchen and patio was not usable by our large group of 36. The surprise did not diminish the fun, but it was an unwelcome discovery.
Needless to say, we hope to be back. We’ve celebrated birthdays and a wedding here, so it’s a place that is very special to us. Thank you for your care and commitment to providing visitors with a wonderful place to escape!

13 family stayed and we had agreat time. There were space for us to all be together and have out own space when needed. Ferry to Tamarindo made it really easy to pop into town.

Manfred and his team are the most kind and helpful people. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We could have spent our entire time at the property and would have had no need to leave. They make food and all necessities easily accessible and provide access to activities and shuttle services as well.
The recommendations were all perfect.
The recommended catering service is fantastic and well organized. Alcira and her staff are delightful people and they prepare delicious menus for everyone’s dietary needs and preferences. What a wonderful place to visit and stay. I hope that we can return to Las Velas Blancas and Casa Guayacan again someday.✨💖✨🙏✨💖✨

We were a party of 10 friends and enjoyed a fabulous stay in the cabanas during our “adult summer camp” vacation. The amenities are basic but perfect. The chefs prepared delicious breakfasts and lunches for us, and we enjoyed our time around the pool and on the beach. The water taxi to Tamarindo made day trips to town very easy (nighttime required taxi rides). Manfred was very attentive to our needs and helped set up everything from transportation (airport and otherwise), excursions, stocking groceries and meal services. If we ran out of something (typically alcohol, lol) the grocer had what we needed there the next day. We had some crazy thunderstorms late at night while sleeping but every day was clear and beautiful. We had a great time!

We had a wonderful time at Las Casas Velas. Perfect spot for good surfing, enjoyed yoga and the juice bar in town and the endless beach. Would highly recommend the chef for good, unfussy food and ease. Will be back!

The five bungalows property was great for our group of four families. We spent most of our time at the pool and beach. It is a great natural setting for those looking for a quiet place away from the crowds of Tamarindo.
We highly recommend using the available chef service for dinners. Once we picked a menu Alcira arranged supplies for dinner through the local grocery store. The restaurants of Playa Grande would be a bit of a hike to get to.
We used the concierge to arrange a catamaran ride at Playa Flamingo including shuttle. The local surf shop delivered boogie boards as well. Overall great experience at this property.

Wow this place is amazing!! Perfect for a big group getaway where people can break into pairs for sleeping and all come together in the main area or in the beach just steps away from the property.
It’s stunning and secluded, and the chefs available to cook for the home make the best meals!
The only thing I would note is that the property is a bit more “glampy” than originally expected. There’s no shampoo or conditioner, and some of the cabins didn’t have hot water, or water at all. But you’re in the jungle and have a beach and pool at your disposal so the chill hippie beach life is the way to go anyways so it’s not an impediment. Just something to be aware of!
But we will note that the air conditioning in the bedroom is amazing!!! It works so well!!!

We had a delightful stay at las Velas Blancas. Property was perfect for a family gathering, as we all had our own space and a lovely common space to gather. Definitely recommend the grocery delivery and cooking services!

We traveled with four other families and had a truly wonderful time. The beach cannot be beat with expansive sandy beach and surfing waves. The kitchen team that we worked with to buy, cook, and clean kitchen was exceptional - reasonable prices for excellent breakfast and dinners prepared. Host was very responsive via Whats App during stay. During our visit we were mostly left to our own in the bungalows and shared villla and communicated needs (housekeeping, maintenance, questions) via What’s App during stay. We were moved to a new pool and shared kitchen/yoga studio building prior to stay after booking - that at first made me nervous but turned out to be flawless. New pool is a tad smaller but ideal location closer to bungalows that we had rented (we did not rent main house). Ended up staying at property most of our stay. Thank you for a beautiful visit, we will be back!

This is our second return to the property. We had 27 family members and we rented all of the beach bungalows as well as the beach house. The surprising and wonderful thing that we got to experience was the new building on the south end of the property. A very large, open living space where we could have our breakfast and dinners together, as well as a new pool and yoga deck. It was absolutely fabulous! I love where this property is located. A short walk to the fun little town of Tamarindo via the estuary crossing, and the tranquil, peaceful beach vibe on Playa grande. we always felt very safe and all our needs were met. Manfred has always had excellent communication if anything were to arise. If you want to experience an authentic Costa Rican vacation vibe, book this property now! You will not be sorry the memories will be etched in your Heart forever. We hope and wish to come back.

This property was perfect for a yoga retreat for 25 people. We rented the bungalows and the house. There are two yoga decks on the property with plenty of space for classes.
The food and service was fantastic! Manfred helped with so many details before we arrived, and was always available to answer questions while we were there. The on site staff were kind and helpful. Alcria and her kitchen staff made a variety of authentic dishes for our group that people are still talking about. I only wish I spoke more Spanish! We used Google Translator to communicate with the on site staff which helped a lot, and had some good laughs showing each other our phones with translations. I can't say enough about how kind and helpful everyone was. We really felt taken care of.
The location was perfect for us. Long beach walks and beautiful sunsets were just steps away from the property. Tamarindo was easily accessible with a short ferry ride across the estuary. Our guests had such a great time exploring the area and coming back to home base.
We are already planning to return!

We had a great experience staying here. We used the cook service for a few nights and used the concierge service for activities. Everything went smoothly and they were able to accommodate our requests (even if we were trying to book an activity the evening before!)

I almost do not want to review this place, it is so special and unique I am afraid once the word is out it is going to be booked forever. The location in the jungle and proximately to this perfect beach is truly special.
We had a big family of 14 ranging from 6 years to grandparents. Having our own little family bungalows was ideal and the pool was the perfect place to gather. We chose to have the cooking team prepare dinner for us each night and it was a great way to end the day after a sunset swim/surf. We used the small bungalow kitchens for light breakfast and lunch and the air conditioned bedrooms at night were ideal.
It does feel a bit isolated at the very end of the road but that is a good thing if you know what to expect. Just need to plan and they have a plan for everything. We had groceries delivered plus we had a golf cart rented for the week to run into Playa Grande, and some families took the short boat ride over to Tamarindo for day trips.
There are not that many beaches like this that are not crowded and this location is just about perfect. The communication from our host Manfred and the many other people from cooks, to housekeeping, to grounds people were all so kind and helpful it really made the trip.
Special Place!

We had an amazing stay at Las Velas Blancas. We were a group of 4 families with 8 adults and 11 kids ages 8 and less. We rented the main house plus one bungalow, and had more than enough space for everyone to spread out plus lots of shared space to hang out as a group. The location is spectacular, right on the beach and just across the estuary from tamarindo. We had beautiful sunsets every night. We had Rosa and Veronica cook all of our breakfasts and dinners, and the food was all amazing. The kids loved the pool. All of the bedrooms have air conditioning and we slept comfortably at night. Communication from Manfred was quick and easy. We spent one fay in tamarindo, which was a quick boat ride across the estuary. Otherwise we stayed at the house for the whole week and enjoyed playing in the waves. This will definitely be a trip to remember. Thanks Manfred!

Our group of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's a little off the beaten path, so having a rental car turned out to be a smart move. The bungalows aren't fancy, but they're very functional. The AC works great. There aren't "hotel-style" amenities available, so bring travel-sized shampoo and conditioner. Consider having the kitchen team prepare meals for you. We were thrilled with having breakfast every day. Communication with the property manager/concierge was excellent. We would definitely return to this property again.
10.0 / 10.0
We rented both properties for a family reunion of 28 with ages ranging from 70 to 9 months. Much of my family had never traveled like this, preferring all inclusive or cruises to renting a home. Between the main house and the bungalows we were perfectly taken care of. Each of the bungalows were perfect, with a small kitchen in between a room with a little no and a room with two twins. The kitchen had hot plates and all of the utensils you could need to make meals when we weren’t gathering at the main kitchen or in the house. All of the beds were comfortable. The addition of the patio made the place feel even larger. The pool is perfect, with shade covering at least some area at all times and a shallow area to sit or for the little ones to play.
The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, responding almost immediately to any questions or requests for help. The cooking was out of this world. We had a lot of dietary restrictions with allergies, vegans, a vegetarian, and one very picky eater. The staff made meals accommodating all of our requests and even added meals on a moment’s notice when we requested them.
The beach is steps from each bungalow, sandy, and quiet. Although you can easily get to Tamarindo by boat or to Playa Grande by walking 10 minutes down the beach (look for a yellow sign just past the palm trees) we found we rarely wanted to leave. And each bungalow is located amidst trees so it’s shady on the patio and private from each other.
The only area with AC is the bedrooms and as we were there when it was uncharacteristically warm it was a little hard to get out of the heat. Having some additional fans would have been a game changer so we could bring them to the second story lounge or to the patios to just take a break. Otherwise we had no complaints!

This is an amazing property for large groups. Very private beachfront location. Ana and Manfred were great hosts.

We had 20 people and had a great time. Staff was responsive. It’s a beach house, so not luxurious, but nice and perfect for our group.
The ocean and beach surpass expectations. The beach directly in front is a shallow entry with lots of small medium waves. One of the best beaches I’ve been to.
Playa Grande Shuttle and consierge was great to deal with. They shopped for some local groceries for us which were expensive, but that’s what it costs here. If you want to buy a lot of booze or groceries, Walmart in Liberia may be a good choice.
A great trip.

This place is truly awesome.
A gem in Costa Rica, we had a week long stay here and our wedding and we feel super lucky to have been able to have it here.
The team on the ground are great and worked really hard to make the day a success as well as throughout the whole week.
It's a perfect beach side location which is very hard to find in Costa Rica.

We rented out the whole property at Las Velas Blancas (the casitas and the big house) for a yoga retreat and had an amazing stay! We were a group of 18 and had more than enough room for people to hang out together, or find quiet time when they wanted. We loved the outdoor yoga loft - the ocean breezes were divine! The beach and pool were terrific and the location of the property is great - easy to get to Tamarindo and into the subdivision, but far enough away to have privacy and be in your own little world.
The owners, Ana and Manfred, were very easy to communicate with and have thought of everything with this property and in dealing with their guests.
The caretakers of the property - Pedro and Rosa Maria were wonderful. They were kind and took great care of us - which was not easy with such a big group. They were quick to answer and questions and requests, and always with kindness and a smile.
We also had Veronica prepare many of the meals of our group, and highly recommend her! She prepared a variety of meals for us - traditional, vegetarian, dairy and gluten free - and all of were happy and full guests.
All in all a fantastic stay and will definitely return! Highly recommend!

This property is right on the beach! It’s a perfect location, everything is in walking distance. From the property it took us 15 minutes to walk the beach and cross the river by boat to get to Tamarindo. Tamarindo is SO much fun.
The beach is gorgeous And filled with shells. There are surfers all up and down the beach which is super fun to watch.
We loved the privacy and always felt very safe at Las Velas Blanca‘s.
My daughter and I hosted a women’s retreat and there were 26 women. There was plenty of room and no one felt they were on top of each other. This was my fifth time to Costa Rica and probably my favorite place to stay because it felt very authentic. All the bungalows are privately situated, clean and actually very cute. The beach house has a nice large kitchen if you don’t hire a chef. They do not have a lot of pots and pans that would be my only concern. We did not need them as we had the chef….that would have been an issue so make sure you address that if you are cooking on your own.
The big open aired building was amazing! We called it our yoga deck. We also gathered in that space every evening to settle in and even dance. The pool is fabulous! Everything was fabulous !
We are going to book the entire place for our very large family. I’m very excited to come back we had an amazing time.

We had a wonderful beach stay. Manfred and other hosts went above and beyond to accommodate us and we are forever grateful. This is a beach front property in the jungle - you will encounter bugs and other wildlife. But that should be expected. The property and location is fabulous. The cooks were wonderful. And Pedro, the property manager, was incredibly helpful. I’m looking forward to booking again.

We love this place: beach, pool, rustic style cozy accommodations, great AC, great sand, close to Tamarindo and far enough from it. This is a wonderful place to spend time with your family and friends, kids and adults. Good for family vaca and for yoga retreat and surfing if that's your thing. Will be back.

A group of friends and I visited CR and stayed at Las Velas Blancas for 5 days. And everything exceeded my expectations! The staff Manfred and Ariel were fantastic, and were there for every little thing we needed. Highly recommend the cook as well! She prepared fresh ceviche for us daily that was amazing. The location of the property can’t be beat, it’s quite literally beach front and had such beautiful views of the ocean and sunset. The common areas were great, we were all able to gather and hang around the house. We rented the main home and a few bungalows and it was perfect, everyone had enough space and was very comfortable. The property was beautiful and the assistance we received from everyone working with the home was excellent.
Highly recommend renting golf carts to get around Playa Grande and the boat taxi’s to get into Tamarindo! This home was fantastic!! Will absolutely be coming back
5.0 / 10.0
We rented the whole property for our wedding and could not have asked for a better location or host of the property!
The entire property was beautiful and is a great place to host a party or just spend time with family and friends. The pool and the beach are easily accessible and Tamarindo is just a short walk away (during the day) for anyone looking to shop or eat out!
The surf break directly out front of the property is ideal for surfers and the view from the balcony of Casa Guayacan is the perfect check point!
The rooms in the bungalows and in Casa Guayacan were clean and nice and chilled with individual AC units in each room.
Manfred was a great host and made it easy for the group to coordinate shuttles to/from airport, meals, and maintenance with the property staff and local vendors. Pedro, the on site property maintenance staff was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
The breakfasts prepared by the local cook were absolutely delicious and very convenient.
I would 100% recommend this property and hope to return again in the future :)

A group of 18 family members and friends recently stayed at Las Velas Blancas, renting the main house and one of the Casitas. We ranged in age from 18 - 65.
We had a wonderful time at this unique and beautiful estate, located right on the beach in Playa Grande.
The views were spectacular and the beach is literally steps from the home(s). You can see and hear the surf all night and day.
Both the main home (Casa Guyacan) and the casita were well-appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were great and there was plenty of cookware, glassware, small appliances for everything we needed. The air conditioners in the bedrooms worked perfectly!
The yoga pavilion, swimming pool and outdoor eating area were clean, comfortable and also had amazing views.
Pablo, the caretaker lives nearby and took care of any needs we had with the property - even replacing the blender glass that we broke within hours.
Our host(s) Manfred and Ana were wonderful to work with and connected us with their concierge, Ariel, who arranged our airport transfers, booked all of our adventures, had Covid tests delivered to us and arranged for all of our groceries and drinks to be on-site upon arrival. We did utilize the cook services for four nights and she did a fantastic job.
There are restaurants within walking distance and, you can take a short walk and boat ride across the estuary to be in Tamarindo in minutes.
If you are looking for a place for lots of people, want privacy but access to town - do not hesitate to book this wonderful place.
Pura Vida!

Excellent sized property with lots of privacy. Right on the beach (kinda like our private beach). Very spacious for multiple families. Clean. The staff responded to all of our requests quickly and efficiently. Ana the cook was amazing. Food was delicious every time. Next time we will order dinner “every” night. We would highly recommend this property and would return for another stay in the future.

We rented the whole property out for the week and literally had the best time and experience. Manfred ran the whole thing so amazingly it made it so much easier to co-ordinate such a big group!
The property is right in front of an amazing surf break and near great cafes for food!
The on-site cook made fantastic dinners for our group and we were super happy with everything!
It really is an amazing property in my mind the best location!!
Thank you Manfred!!!

Manfred was so helpful and was a great resource before our arrival and during our trip! Manfred and Ariel lined up airport / resort shuttles for my group of 25+ family and friends, organized a morning sail, made fabulous daily breakfasts and dinners, and were responsive throughout our stay to make sure we were well taken care of. I recommend this property to anyone looking to be taken care of and attention to detail. A+++++ for service excellence!!!
