The driveway goes straight up the hill with ample parking down by the road and up into the yard. There is a beautiful flowing creek the winds down the right side of the yard. In the spring and summer the yard is fill with flowers, 5 different types of apple trees, a pear tree, 2 blue berry bushes and endless red and black raspberries. The other direction up the street near Readsboro is the Sherman reservoir which is part of the Deerfield River, great for fishing and kayaking. Both lakes are also great for swimming and just floating on a tube on a hot summer day.

We only had 5 adults which gave us plenty of space. You can tell that the house is loved and is cared for by the host.

Had the best couple of days skiiing at Stowe with a large group of friends and family. More than enough room for everyone after a long day of skiing, and Stowe was only a 30 min drive. Chris was super helpful with the property since the temp dropped right before we arrived, and took the time to clear out the driveway and help with iciness. The house is full of hilarious character, and we had a blast!

Great Time
We were up for a ski vacation and Chris couldn’t have been more accommodating., great communication throughout, and wanted to make sure we had a great stay. The wood stove made for a really warm and inviting game room, lots of space to spread out for younger and older kids, and easy ride to Mount Snow! Loved the creative and homey decorations - made for a fun scavenger hunt for the younger kids. Thank you!

Ski weekend
House was great for my friends and I to stay for a couple nights to go skiing! Chris was super friendly! The exact check in and check out instruction were a little confusing, but Chris was super responsiveness with questions and even allowed us to check out a bit late! Overall, highly recommend this amazing winter cabin!

Had an awesome time!
Had a great stay here with some friends MLK weekend. Chris is super laid back and easy to get in touch with and gives you all the info you need upon arriving. The house is super homey and unique, everything we needed. He even plowed us out the driveway when we left after a storm, really nice cool guy.

Lovely home in mountains
We had a wonderful time in Chris' home. We cooked several meals in the kitchen, and had more than enough room for the 8 of us. His house provided easy access to skiing (we went to Mount Snow) and hiking through the back of the property. I would highly recommend staying here!

Ski Getaway
House was very comfy and roomy. An easy 25 minute ride to Mt. Snow made our ski getaway just what we were looking for. Will rent again next time we are going to VT. Chris was a pleasure to work with.

Columbus Day Weekend
The house was clean ,spacious and as described. We had no complaints other than the fact that there was no option for trash pick up(we knew about it ahead).

Good house
An old farmhouse with a very good location right on Hwy. 100. The owner, Chris Thompson was good to deal with and accommodated our needs well. He let us use the washer and dryer, which we really needed with our dirty hiking clothes, and also let us use the bed linens, which he doesn't do ordinarily. The house has lots of quirks and funky art work but overall had a very warm and comfortable feel. We had no problems with anything.

Hillside home
Thelocation , size of the house was fantastic. There was too much stuff . The refrigerator had a lot of food in it and was not clean. All the closets drawers were full. I am sure there is a washer and dryer there but we couldn't use it. A real disappointment when you are hiking swimming etc. Especially when there is a lot of rain and our clothes were wet and muddy.

Couldn't have been a more perfect fit for our group.
We knew from the extensive pictures what the house was going to look like but once inside, it felt like home. There was plenty of room for our group of 11, not only in bed space but in the common areas which was needed due to the rainy weather most of the weekend (woohoo for the covered grill area). The house decor inside and out was fun and inviting. We did get to hang in the beautiful yard and talked about how great it would be to visit again. Chris the host was super helpful in answering our many questions and accomodating (thanks for the dog cage!). This property will be on the revisit list for sure!

Overall great stay!
Great house! Very big and roomy, very clean, very cozy, very cool and has a lot of personality. House has wifi. Property manager was super nice and easy to communicate with and even started the wood burning stove for us before we got there. The room with the stove is really nice and warm. Stayed with a group of 10 and was way more than enough room, everyone in our group enjoying staying here.

Great stay
We enjoyed our 4 days in February: snow-shoeing, skiing, sledding, cooking, watching movies (great DVD collection) and all with no internet! Thanks Chris

Awesome Experience
This house was exactly what my friends and I were looking for! It was exactly as described. There was so much room for our big group and so many rooms for activities! The house is very unique, which made our stay even more interesting. Our host, Chris, was very accommodating and helpful as we planned our stay. He even dropped by to bring us some sleds, which we used in the huge, beautiful backyard. The fact that there was no service or wifi was originally intimidating, but turned out to be a pleasant escape from reality that we didn’t know we needed. We had a fantastic time and we definitely hope to stay there again soon!

Great place for winter holiday with young families
We spent the New Years holiday here with a group of 8 adults, a couple of young toddlers, and a dog. The house was extremely spacious and comfortable for our group, with a nice big kitchen for cooking together. Chris was very communicative and we felt we had everything we needed! No wifi/cell service (which we anticipated and enjoyed) but we had service in town a few miles up the road if needed. An extra bonus was a snowstorm that allowed us to go sledding and snow hiking in the back yard - perfect way to celebrate the holiday.

Great place for a large group
The stay here was pretty good. There was room for our entire 9 person group and with beds everywhere it was like a big slumber party. 30 minutes to Mt Snow

Plenty of space
This place is remote — no cell reception, no wifi — but had tons of beds and open areas and accommodated our large group well. It's rustic and rural and could use a thorough cleaning in some areas. But for what we needed, it worked well.

Great for the Whole Family
This was a great house for a family vacation! Large enough to accommodate my children and their families. The backyard was huge with lots of space for the kids to play. The furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with everything needed.
The property is located near state parks which had beautiful grounds and lakes. Hiking trails right on the property. Approximately 20 miles to supermarkets but country stores abound,
The property is most likely used more often in the winter for skiing but it was great for a summer family gathering.

Lots of Space! Good location!
The house has plenty of room, beds, lots of kitchen utensils. It is located 35 minutes away from Mount. Snow, and 35 minutes away from East Berkshire Mountain. Mount Snow only lets you ski until 4pm, East Berkshire has night skiing. The house does not have Wifi but it made it better for us to have genuine interactions like back in the days. The house phone was all we really needed anyways. Chris was always available to answer any questions, and made us feel very comfortable. Will definitely consider it for a summer stay!

Great Weekend Getaway
Me and a large group of 20 wanted to get away for the New Year and the house couldn't have been any better. Plenty of beds to sleep in, wide open dining area for all to fit in, as well as a spacious living room and game area. There is plenty to do around the house like hiking, snowmobiling and Mt Snow is not far away. Chris could not have been more helpful and was easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend for a big group looking for a great weekend escape.

Lovely large remote home!
Had a great experience staying here. Patrick was more than helpful and easily accessible when we needed help. He got in touch in advance so that we knew what to expect. House is enormous and has plenty of space for our group of 10 and a puppy. Backyard was huge for all of us to run around. Would love to stay again!
