Cottage w/Lake Views & Open Slip Dock/Perfect for Family-Couples-Friends
Our cottage at the lake is a great location for a family or couples getaway, girls only/guys only weekend, and only 45 minutes from Atlanta. It has 3 bedrooms—one with a brand new King, one with a brand new queen, and one with a twin-over-double bunk bed. The sleeper sofa in the family room is a full size, comfortably sleeping 1 adult or 2 children. The house sleeps 5 Adults and 2 Children comfortably. The brand new master bath has a large walk-in shower and the brand new smaller, hall bath has a shower. Both bathrooms have blue tooth speakers in the lights. Watch TV or your favorite movies on our Smart TV or DVD in the Family Room viewed from the most comfortable recliners ever designed. The keeping room and kitchen are flooded with sunlight in the morning and are the gathering place for family and guests while breakfast is prepared. Light the wood burning stove for additional atmosphere.
The woods surrounding the house provide shade in the morning and again in late afternoon while the home’s high location above the large sloping lawn allows a year round lake view from the large windows in the kitchen and family room, as well as from the deck. The view of the sunset over the water begs dining al fresco. Located on a half-acre, mostly wooded lot, the lawn is great for tossing a football. We love that our house sits so far from the street. It's quiet here. Turn slowly into the drive when you return from a late dinner and you will most likely see deer in the woods. When you sit on the deck with your early morning coffee, look down the trails. You may see them looking back. On a pre-dawn winter morning, they may be in the front yard, nibbling acorns fallen from the giant oaks. It’s peaceful here. The only neighbor you will hear is the pileated woodpecker.
Follow the leaf strewn trail down to the dock and rest quietly. You will see fish under the dock and maybe witness the flight of a great blue heron. Because our dock is deep in the cove, the water is calm without wakes or sounds from boats passing on the lake. It is a safe place to swim, play, and float. We have a covered, single slip dock that is open, and boat and jet ski rentals (Port Royal),as well as a public boat ramp (Mountain View Park), are just minutes from the property by land or by water. Our dock is drought proof! Even when the lake level drops, we always have 15-20 feet under our dock, and where many properties are located in shallow tributaries, our cove provides full lake access from the Olympic Rowing venue, all the way to Buford Dam.
Passing the dock, you can continue your walk through the woods around the point and along the lake shore trail for a celebration of fall color. If you look out the windows during a heavy snow, you will have the impression you are on a mountain top above the clouds. In the spring, the profusion of gardenia blooms scent the air, and the woods are full of birdsong and speckled with the white blooms of indigenous rhododendron. The slam of the screen door during family picnics will sound just like your childhood.
This is not just a house at the lake. It is a true lake house.
If you wish to venture out, we are minutes from downtown Gainesville (check out www.Gainesville.org and don’t miss the free concerts on the square), Starbucks (a must for my husband), shopping malls, grocery stores, Multi-Movie Theaters, live theater, parks with walking trails, hiking, waterfalls, and every type of dining experience from candle lit, white linen to fast food. We are, of course, close to Lake Lanier Islands and all the activities there. We are also not far from Chicopee Woods Golf Course, North Georgia Premium Outlets, Georgia wineries, Gibbs Gardens, all the fun in Dahlonega including a tour of the gold mines and free shows at the planetarium (check out dalonega.org), and you might even catch a rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds

We are checked out. We left you a Roku on the tv too! The place was wonderful and we had a great time, thanks for letting us stay!

Very quiet, beautiful home and relaxing.
Only thing concerning was the walk to and from water

Great stay on beautiful lake Lanier. The place was totally comfortable and well kept. I could have spent the entire week at the house only and had a great time!!! Boat slip was nice and convenient with the closest ramp maybe a mile away. My only suggestion would be leaving some extra trash bags and maybe update the bed mattress in the smaller bedroom! I will be coming back for a longer stay in the future.

All was good. Rough driveway & couldn’t get dining room overhead light to work. Otherwise excellent neighborhood, quiet, comfortable beds and roomy. Would enjoy in summer even more

Home is even more beautiful in person! Loved everything about it and wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely look into staying again when in the area in the future.

Overall I gave the property 4 stars. The house is an older home but the owners did an awesome job of remodeling the interior, except for the basement. The house was very clean and the view of the lake was great. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, was the gravel part of the driveway. If you have a car like we did, you will bottom out. Would be great to see the pavement go all the way up. We didn’t use the dock as we don’t own a boat but that was good as the walk down was steep. Also the dock had a lot of poop on it from some kind of animal, wasn’t a dog. Overall I would say stay here but bring a truck for the driveway.

The property was everything we were looking for. We were in town for my son’s wedding and needed a place to stay. The house is so spacious, clean and had plenty of room for us all to relax and get ready. Didn’t get to go to dock this visit, but will definitely stay again to enjoy longer.

the house was cute, but dirty and in disrepair. broken screens and most of the blinds didn't work. I could say a lot more. but I'm not going to. I would not stay again.

Seriously, after staying at other homes over the last few year, this one is tops! Rained on us for 10 days but it just didn;t matter. We had room for both the ski boat and the go-faster! I would love to stay at this beautiful setting during any of the four seasons. Everything was as promised, I do understand the hostess/host are not responsible for the weather!!!

We had an amazing stay in this lovely lake house cottage! The newly remodeled interior is well done. We spent the majority of our time on the lake in our boat. The dock is easily accessible from the water, though a bit of a hike down to and up from the house! You’ll only want to make that trip once a day unless you are in excellent shape.
Our only constructive feedback would include:
1. Check in at 4 pm should be earlier, like 3 pm.
2. Check out at 10 am should be later, like 11 am
3. The guest bedroom queen mattress is very stiff and uncomfortable to sleep on.
4. Change cable carriers. Spectrum no longer carries ESPN, or any of the other channels we wanted to view for the opening of college football season!
Overall, an excellent option for 2-4 adults or a family with kids! Thank you Maria for being so responsive and understanding!

We stayed at this property while moving our daughter to the area. The location made it accessible to all locations that we needed to get to and the house was very comfortable.

Our family of 4 adults and our dog enjoyed everything about this property. The walk to the lake is a bit rustic, but totally doable. Maybe not with a heavy cooler. Our relatives were able to pick us up on their boat for a fay on the lake, and the next day we stayed on the dock all day. The cove is perfect for floating on noodles (which were availablein the basement). The cove is very deep, calm and no traffic. The house is super cute inside and we had everything we needed. Beds and linenes were good. The grill ran out of propane, and there was a full one ready to go. We would definitely stay again.

Our family traveled to attend a wedding in the area. The cottage was the perfect retreat for the four of us. Because we were busy with wedding activities we did not get to take advantage of all the amenities that the cottage offers.

The lake house is amazing! The pictures do not do it justice. The location is great...it is just off the beaten path so shopping and dining are minutes away. The walk to the dock is not difficult although it might be challenging for some. Previous reviews seem to be a bit exaggerated about the walk. It was so peaceful listening to the sounds of nature at night and in the early morning. There is a fantastic binderthat was thoughtfully arranged with info on shopping , restaurants, outdoor activities, etc. We will definitely be back and will recommend the lake house to family and friends.

Wonderful spot for a lake vacation
This house was a wonderful spot for a lake getaway. The house is clean and well taken care of, the lake is a fairly easy walk down the hill, and the marina was super close to go pick up a rental for the day! We will definitely be back!

Living Life Large on Lake Lanier
The house was perfect for what we were looking for! Clean as a pin and very comfortable. So cozy! Nicely furnished! Nice deck and grill for hanging outside - lots of space! The cove where the dock is was calm w/ very little boat traffic, convenient to a marina in the event we needed to buy gas (and we did) and other water toys. The location was very convenient for shopping and the owners did a fantastic job with directions, helpful hints and general accommodations. If you like lake life, this is a great place to click off a week or two of it! We will be back! Thanks very much, Maria!

Up hill battle
The cove and the inside of the house was nice. But the walk to the dock is not easy and the walk back up is exhausting. The dock is in horrible shape overall. My entire family was sore after the first day. Oh and then you have a o contend with the neighbor who thinks he owns everything and parks vehicles so close to the driveway it is almost impossible to get out. We literally left an entire day early for these reasons.

Lake Getaway
Had a great trip and a great day. Only took 50 minutes from the city to get there. House is as advertised and all appliances are new and bathrooms are new. Dock is in a quiet cove safe for people to swim freely. We brought our boat it was 23 feet long and 8 feet wide and it’s probably the max for what the dock can handle. If anyone is planning to bring a boat and use the dock.

Short & Sweet!
Lovely 3 bedroom home lived up to everything we thought it would be! GREAT master bedroom - the linens and bed were awesome, we both slept great after our 10 hour drive up from S. Florida. Unfortunately for us, our trip was cut short because of the oncoming snow storm, so we literally got there on Friday at 4 p.m. and pulled out of the driveway 24 hours later in order to avoid being snowed in! Great views, clean place - but we didn't even get to use the firepit! We hope to return at another time & certainly stay longer.

Family weekend
We stayed the weekend for a family wedding and the house was perfect! We loved the scenery and walking trails. The house was clean and had many updates. There was plenty room for everyone in our party and the kids loved the ping pong table in the basement! We would stay here again.

Convenient, comfortable cottage for a race weekend.
This cottage was the perfect place to stay during a weekend at Road Atlanta for Petit Le Mans, which was less than 30 minutes away. The quiet setting is relaxing, and the cottage was very comfortable for three adults and a teenage race fan. All rooms, linens and supplies were immaculately clean, and Maria was very responsive with the few minor questions that came up during our stay. Lots of choices for restaurants within a short drive if you don't have time to cook. This was my first time with VRBO, and it was a very positive experience. Would definitely stay here again.

We will not stay here again
This review is based on staying only one night of a 4 night stay.
Pros: Inside has up to date décor, bathrooms, & furnishing. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean.
Cons: The grass needed cut, badly. Walking through the yard to get to the dock in wet grass up to your ankles was a little uncomfortable. The back porch looked like it hadn’t been cleaned off in a really long time. A ton of leaves, massive spider webs, chairs strewn about, and the table needed lots of cleaner. The dock is a far walk from the house. You can’t see the dock from the house, and you can’t see the house from the dock. Not because of foliage but the dock was located down the coastline and was set in front of the neighbor’s house. Zero privacy from the next door neighbor. The living room didn’t even have window blinds to add privacy from the neighbor. And there are no pictures to show just how close the neighbor is. There was only one TV inside. If we stayed the entire 4 days, it would have been nice to have at least one additional television since it rained the entire time. Our stay was for 4 nights. 4 adults and 3 kids (ages 16, 11, & 9) Only 2 bath towels are supplied per bedroom. We asked if there were additional towels and were told there was a washing machine in the basement. On vacation, with kids, and the lake, it would have been nice to have an extra set of bath towels, so we weren’t doing laundry every day. We had to empty and put away all the dishes in the dishwasher because the previous renters failed to run the dishwasher... Leaving the next day, there were 2 dead roaches in the living room. We will not stay here again.

Very nice Lake House
Very enjoyable. Pretty much everything you will need right down to dog bowls. We had ourselves, 2 adult kids, 2 grandkids and dog and it was perfect. Well kept house and grounds. We would easily come back.
