About this house rental
Vinewood is a delightful and beautifully proportioned cottage located in rural surroundings on a pretty B road, right on the borders of Surrey and Kent. Built in the 1880’s and recently renovated, Vinewood is practical and welcoming with a large kitchen diner, a cosy sitting room , three bedrooms, off road parking and a covered seating area outside leading to a long garden with far reaching rural views.
Surrounded by farmland and footpaths, Vinewood is situated immediately beside the Vanguard Way, a footpath/bridleway which leads up through farmland and continues up to Dry Hill, the top of which you can see in the distance behind the cottage, marked by a row of poplars. There are plenty of long and short walks so the cottage is ideal for walkers with or without dogs.
The area boasts of many historic places to visit, Hever Castle, Chartwell, Sheffield Park and Wakehurst Place to name a few. The town of Edenbridge is a five minute
drive away, there are many mediaeval timber buildings in the town, one of which houses the Eden Valley Museum. The town of East Grinstead just a fifteen minute drive, this town has many historic buildings and also has a museum. To the south-east of the town is Ashdown Forest. This is an ancient area of tranquil open heathland occupying the highest sandy ridge-top of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It is a great place for walking and enjoying spectacular views over the Sussex countryside and is known the world over as the 'home' of Winnie-the-Pooh, you can even play Pooh Sticks on Pooh Bridge.
The delightful spa town of Tunbridge Wells is a thirty minute drive away and there you can visit the famous Pantiles with its elegant covered and colonnaded walkway and quirky shops and then walk up to its comprehensive shopping centre. There are plenty of interesting shops and restaurants.
This property is NOT available for long term lets. Holiday lets only. 30 days maximum stay.

We chose this property due to the proximity to National Trust properties. We took our dog, who also enjoyed her stay. We were not disappointed at all. Lovely relaxing stay, beautiful garden and many walks around the property.

Our stay with Melanie in the cottage was very nice. The house is very lovingly furnished and the garden is ideal for dogs or small children, as no one can run away.
Melanie is a very nice hostess and makes life in her house easier with her small notes on many objects.
She makes our Stay completet.

This is a really welcoming, cosy and clean property, a real home from home. It is situated on the Vanguard Way with lovely walks directly from the cottage. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely re-book next time we are visiting the area. Melanie is a great host and responds very quickly to answer any questions you might have.

Good size of the kitchen.

Everything was lovely. The only niggling things were the bedroom doors didnt shut properly and it would of been nice to have a tv in the bedrooms so we could have some down time from family members also the broadband was very very slow plus side lovely views big kitchen for cooking our christmas family dinner and new years day
Could do with a grab rail on the area of entering the property and also a outside light to guide you to the front door from the car

A hot week !
We (family of 4) were staying during recent heat wave and had to skip our plans to visit London because of that weather.
But we were having simply a great time around here with many things to see and also went to the seaside on the hottest days. Pevensey Beach was quite nice and is to be reached within 50-60 minutes by car.
Host Melanie was just great and we also loved her dogs Rosie and Will. House has more than you need for a week and looks beautifully restored. There are very nice foot paths through the fields just next to the house which we would have loved to explore even more.
As we missed our trip to London, we may come again!

Week visiting friends
We had a good stay at Melanie's property. Melanie was extremely communicative and flexible. She lives next door, so was on-hand for any questions. The house was clean and well-provisioned for linen, kitchen-equipment, etc, although it didn't have basic comestibles (handwash, shower gel, salt, pepper, washing-up liquid), which we've commonly found at other rental properties. It was well set-up for a family: double room, twin room and a single room. Modern bathroom and kitchen. Good patio and garden space with outdoor furniture. The location is a short drive to any shops etc, but you couldn't walk to the nearest shops. It is situated next to a footpath so you can walk/hike on footpaths directly from the property. It's well situated for both Lingfield and Edenbridge stations, which serve London. Overall, I would recommend this property.

Nice cottage in rural surroundings
Spacious cottage, well suited for 5 people. Kitchen downstairs is nice and big and well equipped.
Everything is included (linen, towels, etc). It's close to the road so in the evening you can hear the traffic pass by.
We used the accommodation mainly to visit London which is very easy to do from Redhill trainstation (only 1/2 hour drive away).

A home from home
Impeccably maintained. Beautifully natural gardens. The cottage was “fully loaded” with everything you would need for a long to medium stay

Great cottage
We had a lovely time at this cosy but spacious little cottage. We were travelling with our twin boys and my mum-in-law and the layout suited us really well. Melanie was a great host and very prompt in all communications.
The only slight wrinkle was that the heating didn't work during our stay and it was still a bit chilly at night and during the early mornings but not overly so. Melanie very graciously refunded us £100 for the inconvenience as well.

Great
Melanie was a great host very welcoming, her cottage was like home from home and very well equipped. It had a lovely quirkiness having new and old together. It suited my son brilliantly because it was quiet as he suffers from autism. We will hopefully be back for another stay soon.

Lovely property in a lovely location backing onto fields. Melanie was the perfect hostess. There if we needed her but otherwise left us to it. Thanks for an ideal stay.

Nice cottage.
Between the fields, not so far from the forest there is a little cottage. A nice lady opens the door and welcomes strangers to her home. One can see tranquility and beauty of the place through the window gates. One can take a dog for a long walk. It is so heavenly here. Just come and join the nature here.

October half term break Edenbridge
Lovely cottage with direct access to numerous footpaths. Lots of places to visit locally we went to Knowle, Chartwell, Standen, Heaver, Ingram Moat and two 15 plus mile plus off road cycle ways either side of East GRINSTEAD. Local pub also provides excellent Thai food or English if you prefer with local ales for good measure. Great week for the family

Faultless in many ways
We stayed at this charming cottage for 4 weeks and we truly enjoyed our time spent there.
The landlady Melanie could not have been more helpful, accommodating and attentive to our needs. She walked our dogs and also, without a moments hesitation, she ensured that the WiFi was updated with better speeds after we mentioned that it was a tad slow.
The cottage was very clean throughout and has all the fixtures and fittings you’d expect to have in your own home.
The location is perfect for relaxing, but also close to many shops, restaurants and train stations.
We would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it.
Thank you Melanie

Very nice location but some issues
We had a very nice time at the location, situated between two small towns so not far from local shops.
House was nice, the size of the rooms where cosy as expected from an old end terrace cottage.
Only a couple of issues, first the internet was 0.5 mb at most so if you have children or wish to do anything online that may be tricky.
The house is located under the flight path for Gatwick so planes fly over head every 5-10 minutes to land. You don’t really notice after a while and can’t really hear inside but is there 24hrs a day.
The entrance and exit of the property is rather tight and as it’s on a road you have to reverse out of the property which can be tricky as it’s sometimes a busy road.
We had fun on holiday and the lady we rented from was very helpful and sent us text about traffic issues so we could get around easier.
Not the worst place would recommend if you are not reliant on the internet

Leuke accomodatie
