This review is really about 2 extremes. After checking in, my family went to the house to immediately discover two important things: 1) The upstairs and the downstairs are not linked inside of the house. To go from the primary bedroom (downstairs) to the living room and kitchen (upstairs) you must walk outside and lock the door behind you. 2) There's no heat downstairs. There is a fireplace, but the downstairs portion lacks central heat. We were traveling with an 18 month old, so both of these factors were non-starters for us... Here's where the good comes in. The management company handled the issue exactly how it should have been addressed. I called them, explained the situation, and they gave me 3 options on how to move forward -- 1) Stay at the house we had booked and figure out a source of heat. 2) Switch to another house they owned for the same price. 3) Get a total refund, and we could go try to find lodging elsewhere. The woman I worked with at the management co could not have been nicer about the whole thing, and I got the sense that people perhaps frequently have issues with this unit. We elected to switch to another house, and had a great trip. Unless you're in a very specific circumstances (I.E. maybe 2 couples traveling and you want your own space), I would avoid this house. It's not a good set up for families, and given how cold Cambria is, a house not having central heat is not okay. Skip this place, but do book somewhere else with Scenic Coast Management.

We stayed 4 days had a wonderful time. The set up of the house worked well for our family. Beautifully remodeled and a beautiful water view. We will definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay here. We only used the upstairs portion of the rental….. it was well equipped and clean. The fireplace is nice and cozy and the view is outstanding. Will consider staying here again in the future.

We have enjoyed spending time in Cambria for many years. We love and appreciate all the beauty in this part of God's beautiful creation: the peace and quiet, the wildlife, walking on the bluffs, and just being near the ocean and hearing the surf.
This house, while not large, suits us perfectly. It is always very clean and the owners are constantly making improvements. We are able to take daily walks to the ocean from it and the view is beautiful.
The microwave is located quite high and shorter people may have a hard time reaching it.

The ocean view from this home is spectacular. The home is 2 separate units, upstairs has 1 small bedroom and downstairs has a small kitchen bath and a large bedroom. The downstairs smelled so bad we were unable to use it. They had an air filter going full time and we cracked the windows hoping that would help but it didn't. There is a futon in the upstairs living room so if you need 2 beds it works. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal. Even with all the home's shortcomings, the ocean view was more than worth it to us.

We had a very restful month at A Breathtaking View. Despite the "pandemic," there was plenty of great walking and, as per its namesake, a great deal of breathtaking views.
The upper story of the house was comfortable. The living/dining room, the bedroom, and the bathroom were quite adequate for the size of the house. The kitchen was also acceptable with a new set of pots and pans and enough utensils to provide for the great deal of cooking we enjoyed doing during our stay. I must say that unless you are of fair height you might have a problem using the microwave: however, it was better to have it than not. All-in-all, we found the house both clean and well maintained. The downstairs apartment is a quite inviting and wonderful set of rooms for weekend guests.
We enjoyed several of the walking paths within a 15-20 minute drive from the house, as well as trips to San Simeon and the "must see" elephant seal beach---enough to make anyone giggle at the grossness. We have previously gone on the guided lighthouse tour. It was well done and was worth the price of admission. We also enjoyed the Friday farmers market in Cambria and the Thursday version at Spencer's Market between Cayucos and Morro Bay. Coming from frozen Minnesota, we welcomed a chance to buy local produce and artisan foods. Restaurants were certainly available, but we did most of our own cooking. We did frequent Boni's Tacos several times, and have enjoyed Linn's and Robin's as well.
We also got to experience a rare 3-day-10-inch rain storm that doused the power for periods of time---though nothing too inconvenient for the needed water.
All in all, we were sorry to leave.

The best feature of this house by far is the beautiful view, and that does make up for a lot. It does have an unusual layout with the two floors being completely separate, and we knew that when we rented it. It would be ideal for two couples or a family with teens, but it was just my husband and me. The kitchen and bedroom upstairs are pretty small, but the main living area and dining room are nice and comfortable. If the main floor had a bigger bedroom with a king bed we would definitely rent it again.

Our stay here was wonderful. The house was quaint but suited our family of 5 very well. My teenagers used the downstairs suite, while going outside and down at night wasn’t ideal, they made it work. There is no dishwasher, heads up. A great spot for a vacation!

Construction.
Beautiful location, but unable to relax and take in view with construction ongoing next door, for 8 hours each day. Had to leave each day, as the hammering was too much to deal with. Ideal for two couples.

Nice for a Cambria visit
The property is easy to find and is really nice for a couple. If traveling with more, that 2nd bedroom is accessed via a separate entrance, which will be odd for young children.
The view is nice, and the local deer visit often.

Went over there with a couple of our friends for the 4th of July week. This is the second time that we have stayed at the property. We really love the property because it has two separate entrances hat it is completely private. It really had a good time and has described it has absolutely magnificent views. The property is nice and clean. Wish it had dishwasher and garbage disposal otherwise it is more than sufficient. We definitely plan to come back.

Romantic get-away for two!
The property was GREAT! The window views were awesome and the deck chairs were perfect for seating outside and watching the sunset. If we had had a small table to hold our drinks and plate of snacks it would have been complete. All in all we truly loved our stay here. Looking forward to bringing our friends the next time we come.

Great view but very outdated and bad mildew problem
This property has a great view and and that’s anout the only positive thing about it. The worst part was the mildew smell in the downstairs bedroom. I had read reviews about it but did not expect it to be as bad as it was. There seems to be a leak in the shower area and that may be causing it. It was so bad my friend had a headache the whole time we were there and we left a day early. The management company was nice enough to refund one night but it was a bit disappointing overall.This property is very outdated and needs major renovation. Read the reviews of other customers, I think they cover most of what we experienced.

We had a very nice stay but had we known upfront about the 2nd bedroom downstairs we would have chosen another house. We ended not using it at all. But views were incredible! I would suggest installing a hand rail in the en suite shower. It was a little nerve wracking for older people.

The view and location is really what we enjoyed from this rental. Cleanliness was fair but not super clean... the smell in both upstairs and downstairs (downstairs being the worst) had a very moldy smell. Made sure at our grocery stop to pick up a bottle of Glade.. Luckily we spent the days on the road. Only 2 1/2 hours from Big Sur area, which is why we initially made this trip to begin with. We loved Cambria Mimosas for breakfast. Also liked moonstone beach being minutes away as well as seeing the elephant seals 15 mins away. Beautiful sunsets, views of bottlenose dolphin near the shore, and elks in the backyard made the stay that much more special. I know being by the water and having the marine layer can cause so much humidity/wetness but something should be done to keep it from coming indoors...

Top floor is clean and comfortable, and the open space plan and plentiful windows means you get the view from everywhere except the bedroom. The view is practically 180 degrees of Pacific Ocean, and is spectacular. The bottom floor is composed of a spacious bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom. Bottom floor bedroom has a sliding glass door with a great view as well. Only exterior stairway access between the two floors, which makes the two floors very separate/private. You can access the coast via a nearby park, which is a 2 minute drive. Very close and easy access to Main Street and the East and West Villages. Driveway seems to have space for two vehicles. Check in at the office in town before heading to the house was a little inconvenient, but minor.

The view from the house is amazing, which was prime importance to us. The walk down to the coast is not far, but it is steep climb coming back up. You do have to drive out for everything. There are no restaurants or shopping within a reasonable distance. We took a hike from the house across the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve and all the way to Moonstone Beach. That was awesome. Inside the furnishings are a bit on the older side, but they were fine. The biggest negative for us were the beds. It was just my husband and me, and we thought we would just use the upstairs and not bother with the master downstairs ( which others accurately described as having to go outside to get in it). But the bed upstairs was very soft and uneven. It was just not acceptable. So we also tried downstairs. It iseems to be a fairly new mattress, but hard and needs a padded mattress topper, which I think would make it much better. We were there 6 nights, and the beds were a big negative. Also I think the description says it sleeps 6. The last 2 sleeping spots seemed to be on a futon in the living room. Would be ok for kids, but I think 6 adults staying there would not be comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with all the dishes and pans that we needed. Plus they all matched, which sounds silly, but we have stayed in other places where glasses and dishes all were a mishmash of stuff. We were there 6 nights, and it was peaceful and relaxing. You could hear the surf breaking, which I loved. And there were deer meandering around the yard.

Great!! View was fantastic!! House was comfortable and clean. Only issue we had was the mattress upstairs. It was sunk in in the middle. Otherwise everything else was perfect! We would rent again.

We stayed 6 days at this home in Cambria with a truly breathtaking view of the ocean. The sunsets were spectacular. The property was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed walks along the coast in Fiscalini Ranch Preserve but had to drive to get there because of the steep hillside location. We also enjoyed Moonstone Beach, a short drive away and the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill, overlooking the ocean. There were a couple of inconveniences that are worth noting: the kitchen is very small and there is no dishwasher or garbage disposal and the king size bedroom is on the lower level and you must walk outside and take the key to enter. I would recommend as long as someone is prepared for he inconveniences mentioned.
