Situated on a quiet street behind Kiawah’s second security gate, the newly constructed home at 233 Glen Abbey, recently featured in the upscale home & lifestyle magazine, The Scout Guide, is within a stroll or bike ride to Kiawah’s ten-mile beach and enjoys spectacular views of Turtle Point golf course’s no. 12 green.
From the covered front porch, a handsome arched mahogany entry door opens into the front foyer, gallery, great room, and swimming pool beyond. Comfortable and understatedly elegant, the home is dressed throughout in Caribbean heart pine flooring, three-piece crown and cove moldings, natural brick veneers, and reclaimed woodwork, and stone- and porcelain tile-appointments.
The great room features 10-foot ceilings with hand-hewn beams, a large brick hearth gas fireplace, and custom built-in shelving crafted of reclaimed timbers. Open to the dining room and kitchen, the great room’s floor-to-ceiling windows and doors open out to the covered loggia, deck, and pool. There are lounge chairs by the pool as well as a table under the loggia for dining outdoors. Gas grill also provided. Pool can be heated for an additional $150 per day (4 day minimum).
The gourmet kitchen features high-end stainless steel appliances, including a Wolf® six-burner range with custom copper hood, and plenty of counter space for meal prep.
Private and luxurious, the first-floor master suite offers hardwood flooring, 10-foot ceilings, crisp trims and moldings, two large walk-in closets, room for a sitting area, and oversized windows and doors that open out to a private porch overlooking the deck and pool. The stone-appointed master bath features double vanities, frameless walk-in shower, and a claw foot tub.
Upstairs, a second master suite with private covered deck, plus three additional en suite bedrooms offer family and guests every convenience and comfort. One bedroom has two queen beds, and the other two guest bedrooms offer a single queen.
The third floor is a great spot for the kids or teens to hang out, there are a total of four twin beds and ample space as well as a convenient half bath located right in the room.
Additional features of this home include a first-floor laundry room with commercial-grade washer and dryer; second floor laundry with Bosch® washer and dryer and an elevator for ease of access throughout the home.
No smoking, no pets, and no events, no exceptions will be made.

Mixer and kitchen shears were missing but were brought the same day. Nails sticking out from the staircase floor which placed safety concerns especially with small children.

Three generations enjoyed our week at 233 Glen Abbey. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable living areas allowed us to hang out together. The only thing we worried about was the lock on the glass door leading to the pool was broken and we had young non swimmers. A temporary fix was offered since a part was on back order to permanently fix the problem, and that helped alleviate our worries.

Overall, the house's size, location and overall amenities were great for our group. Our disappointment was in how poorly stocked the kitchen was for a house of this size. Barely any kitchen utensils to cook with (not a single spatula or spoon!). What made this worse was that despite pointing this out to the management company within 24 hours, they responded quickly but never delivered on their commitment to bring us ANY cooking utensils. After following up twice, they still never responded. With that said, we still had a great week as always...just wish the property management company would have followed up.

233 Glen Abbey lived up to all expectations with few complaints. The home was comfortable and beautifully furnished. They could have made another bedroom with half of the primary suite. It was huge. The air conditioning on the 2nd floor was controlled by one thermostat and froze the rest of us in other bedrooms. The 3rd floor suite was perfect for a small child and parents. The kitchen needs a wine bottle opener and a new set of frying pans but the storage and space were amazing. With 12 adults and 1 child, there was more than enough space. Thank you for your responses to my requests. I’ll call again.

We had an absolute blast with this home. The pool was great, the setup was wonderful (elevator was key, otherwise would have been too many stairs). Walk to the beach wasn't too bad and loved the view out on the golf course. We were four families with 6 total children (all 3 and under) and I think that was a little much (and wasn't our original plan) for the space, but it's definitely plenty capable of hosting comfortably a large family or 3. Really the only problem we had with the home was the roach issue. They were prevalent. Given we're Texas folk, we understand the pest challenge but those buggers were present on the reg, in just about all rooms and on all floors, and certainly were a turn off for the ladies. We informed the management company about this only after we left (with no response) so clearly we didn't let this impact our wonderful week.

Great beautiful home with lots of space for families. Majority of rooms have walk-in closets big enough for pack n plays to have black out for toddlers. Pool does not have any barriers however easy to move furniture against doors and lock doors to ensure toddlers can’t exit.
Close enough to the beach to walk and/or stroller however would recommend renting a bike with a trolley cart to pull bigger items which you can use the rental credit given via the rental.
Layout of home was great with a nice big kitchen and island. Will need to buy ice as ice machine is slow to fill.
We enjoyed staying here and would definitely rebook. Management company was extremely responsive.

At check in maintenance person was on site trying to fix trash cabinet. He could not fix and said he would return Monday (2 days letter). Next day, dishwasher returns error and will not work. Next day Ice maker did not work in fridge. Dishwasher tray reported in earlier complaints from April was broken. Maintenance did not return until Wednesday and fixed 1/2 of issues. In addition issues not even reported include: Lots of visible mold in 2 baths. Broken outdoor chair. Silverware and plates for 12 despite advertisements for 14 guests. Loose door handles etc. overall the house is visibly quite nice but under the surface it needs help.

Family fun at Kiawah
The house is lovely and large. Our favorite part was the back porch with a table and a small swimming pool. This area has a lovely view of the golf course and is perfect for hanging out and also for outdoor meals. The kitchen/living room area is decent sized and comfortable as well. There is an elevator which was much appreciated by the elderly great grandparents. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but there seems to be little to no sound insulation so everyone hears everything. The house is a bit of a walk (prob 1/2 a mile or so) to the beach or a drive. This worked for our group but it was a bit farther than is ideal. Overall, this is a comfortable and fun house for a large family vacation and we would consider a return visit.

The house itself had some issues. The third floor air conditioning didn't work at all. We were there in mid-April, but in the summer, this would have been a serious problem. We reported the issue on the day we arrived (Saturday), and no one came to the house to look at the problem until Tuesday, at which point we were told that because it was considered a "major fix" there was nothing they could do until they spoke with the owner. So our choice for the rest of the week was to have one of the three units set to 64 degrees (if you moved it off 64, the unit shut down), or no air conditioning.
The dishwasher also didn't work properly; the bottom basket didn't fit properly in the dishwasher, so it was impossible to pull the basket out when it was fully loaded, and if you weren't really careful putting the basket in, the dishwasher wouldn't spin. Again, maintenance did arrive during our stay, but the problem was never fixed.
There was also evidence of a rat in the house. I understand this is out of the control of the owner and the rental agent, and an exterminator was sent, but the rat was never caught. I know there are rats on the island, and the house was certainly not unclean, but it was nonetheless a bit disconcerting.
The rental company was relatively responsive, and people were ultimately sent to deal with all of our problems (and to be fair, we were here over the Easter weekend, which probably made things take longer than they otherwise would have), but at the end of the day, the problems with the house made our stay less perfect than it could have been.

The house was in a great location on a golf course and within easy walking distance to the beach. The bedroom layout with all en-suite bathrooms worked well for us. However one of the beds was broken and another bed had a mattress that sagged when both were in bed. The house is experiencing a fair amount of mold on the outside which is to be expected but nonetheless needs to be attended to. My wife said that there was some mold in the master shower. The dishwasher likely needs to be replaced as the rack was difficult to maneuver and the glasses did not dry. There needs to be more spoons and forks. Some of the kitchen cabinets need to be repainted. While we certainly enjoyed our stay I did get the sense that the house could use a bit of TLC at this point.

We loved the spacious house! The kids had a great time in the pool and it was hard getting them out to go to the beach. The beach is 0.5 miles away and we biked to it daily. It was a wonderful family vacation!

Kid friendly pool
Kiawah Island is a nature lovers paradise. Our grandchildren loved the wildlife that roamed the area. The beach and pool provided many fun hours for the family. The house is nice but starting to show some wear and tear. We notified management of several issues upon arrival. Only one issue was addressed immediately.The deck does not provide
enough seating for large family ( several chairs were broken). Overall our family enjoyed the trip. We had plenty of room to spread out. The neighborhood was very quiet and relaxing.
