About this apartment rental
Sleep in a 17th century Baroque stately palace home and celebrate Seville in style:
For those of us who think that times gone by were always better, what would you think of restoring the stately splendour of yester year, whilst adding the facilities and conveniences of today? In Home at Homes, we select unique properties to provide wholly unconventional experiences. And in this spirit, we have found Casa Palacio San José, a majestic 17th century stately palace home which has been lovingly restored by the former conservationist of Seville’s Royal Palace complex and the Alfonso XIII hotel, renowned architect Rafael Manzano, who has returned this fabulous home to its original glory, whilst providing the property with all the facilities – comfort and convenience, including, of course, heating and air conditioning systems – required to meet the demands of today.
San José III is one of five apartments of Casa Palacio San José, with two bedrooms accommodating four guests in privacy and luxury.
Lovingly called La Casa de la Hija de la Giralda (daughter of La Giralda), this home takes its name from Barbara de Santo Domingo, a Dominican nun born in the 19th century, the daughter of the bell-ringer of the Giralda, who took her vows in the neighbouring Madre de Dios convent and is now in the process of canonisation for her virtues and mysticism.
The house is accessed through an impressive front gate located in calle San José 7. A short, open hallway leads to the first patio and a covered furnished sitting area, crossing which you can access the house proper through a hall housing a fabulous staircase and lift leading to the apartments and rooftop terraces.
Enthusiasts of both architecture and history will delight in the classical structural details, the large arcaded patio with Roman marble columns and fountains, generous terraces with exuberant greenery, and pergolas to keep the environment cool and sheltered. Inside, a veritable exhibition of craftsmanship, with classical decorative tiling, woodwork, coffered ceilings and elaborate plaster mouldings.
San José III spans over 150 m2 of the property, with 115 m2 of “usable” space comprising two bedrooms, a large living-dining room and a separate kitchen, and a fabulous 55 m2 private terrace.
It is located on the second floor of the building, and has the same unique attributes. Sunlight streams in through the large windows to greet guests on arrival, and access to the private terrace is without a doubt one of the finest of the many features of this fabulous home.
The main access hallway leads to the social part of the house, a spacious living and dining area looking onto the building’s main patio, with the characteristic murmur of running water from the Roman fountain and lush greenery throughout.
A sitting area with TV is equipped with a comfortable sofa, upholstered chairs and a coffee table, with the dining area opposite. The living room has access to the charming private terrace, some 50 m2, the perfect place for enjoying an al fresco breakfast or a quiet soiree at dusk, or relaxing in the sun. With a tiled fountain as its main feature, it is equipped with a table and four chairs, and two sun loungers. Not to forget the views onto the patio and the rooftops of the nearby convent.
To the right of the entrance hallway is the separate, fully-equipped kitchen, next to this a guest bathroom and access to the sleeping area.
The master bedroom has a large 180 x 200 cm double bed, which can be made up as twin beds on request. It is decorated with fresh-coloured textiles in a clean, crisp design, conducive to a relaxing sleep. It has a full en-suite bathroom, as does the second bedroom, which is equipped with two 90 x 190 cm twin beds. Both bedrooms have large built-in wardrobes.
And to top the experience, the terraces of Casa Palacio San José, to be found on the third floor. An oasis of green in the middle of the city, ideal for having breakfast, an evening al fresco with friends, some sunbathing in the solarium, complete with rainfall shower, or impressive views of the many terraces, dormers and bell gables of the Jewish district. The third floor also houses the shared laundry room, with washing machine and dryer. The apartments have hanging racks which are stored in the kitchens.
Located in the very heart of the city, just 5 minutes’ walk to the Cathedral and the Giralda, next to the Madre de Dios convent, Casa Palacio San José is a stunning property over three floors, with an area of more than 1000 square metres.
Staying in Casa Palacio San José will enable you to enjoy all the charm of Seville’s historical and cultural heritage, as well as its shopping and leisure opportunities. The historical centre and the Cathedral, the Murillo Gardens, or the very heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz are just a few minutes’ walk away, along a route filled with visual, culinary and cultural delights.
Casa Palacio San José houses five separate, independent apartments: San José I, San José II, San José III, San José IV, and San José V, together accommodating up to 22 guests in total comfort. Why not book the whole building if travelling with a large group? Get in touch, and let us know what you need.

We had the most incredible time staying in the most beautiful apartment in Seville. From the check in process over a beer in a nearby bar to viewing the incredible apartment in person it was seamless experience. Our only problem was that we couldn’t stay longer.

My family of 4, including twin 8 year old girls, loved staying at this apartment. The property is beautiful, and the location is so convenient. We were within walking distance of the Alcazar and tons of shops and restaurants. My kids loved the private roof top terrace, and the parents loved the nicely equipped kitchen, air conditioning (!!!), and modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water and tubs to easily bathe the kids. The building has a small elevator which is great for the luggage, and beautiful common areas including a courtyard. We loved our stay and highly recommend this property!

The apartment is beautifully furnished and spacious with a large terrace which is the highlight. It is better than the pictures. Location couldn't get better. All amenities as listed. Due to a series of car related incidents, we checked in near midnight, however they patiently waited and after showing us around the apartment, also took us to a nearby eatery for a quick meal.
I would stay here again and again.

Generally a nicely laid-out apartment for up to 4 people in a great location. The onsite staff (cleaning and maintenance (Javier)) were very attentive. A couple considerations for ownership would be to freshen up some of the upholstered furniture that is a bit worn in appearance and although adequate, to provide more extensive supplies in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Fabulous historic property in a great location that allowed you to have quiet time in a little oasis. Would definitely stay again.

The sweetest management and most beautiful accommodations. I wish we knew people to invite over and just in our grand living room and terrace. It was divine! Thank you!

This was a beautiful residence and so close to everything. Aside from being so close to all of the sight seeing attractions, we were within a 5 minute walk of a very nice grocery store, bakery, a multitude of great restaurants and shopping. Also, the rooftop patios were great for appetizers and cocktails every evening! I highly recommend staying in San Bartolome!

We were four adults (two couples). The location was amazing - a short walk to the center of town and tons of attractions including the Alcazar and the main Cathedral. The location was quiet and felt very secure. The washer/dryer were not in the unit but easy to access and we had no trouble getting in our turn. Check in was in person (a rarity!) and communication with the team (via What's App) was easy and they were very responsive. The balcony was enormous and a real treat, we enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend!

This was a most enjoyable place to experience Lisbon! We loved the apartment and everything was perfect, from the furnishings, kitchen, and comfy beds to the terrific bathrooms with luxurious bathtubs. Location is excellent. This quiet and refined palace helped us appreciate the glories of the Lisbon lifestyle from the past and into the present. We will return!

This is a wonderful apartment in a great location! It is simply decorated, and as long as you understand this coming in, the location is great, and the apartment was comfortable and enjoyable after long days of site seeing.

This is one of those places that you tell your friends and family about when you return. It’s a former palace-home in the old district with tiny, winding streets and history everywhere. The apartment was lovely, the A/C robust (really important), the balconies evocative, and the living quarters comfortable and decorated to reflect an old world elegance. But the best part was how close the property is to everything — the royal palace and cathedral, the river, and cafes and bars. Highly recommend!!!

Our group of three, grandparents and 18 year old grandson, loved our stay in this beautiful apartment. Communication with the host was easy. Wonderful location with many restaurants near by. Easy walk to the Cathedral. The apartment was very clean, lovely terrace and comfortable beds. Really a perfect place to stay in Seville. Easy to get Uber or taxi. It was very hot while we were there but we were cool and refreshed by the excellent AC.
Highly recommend!!!

We stayed for a week at the end of March in to early April. The apartment with a full kitchen and private terrace suited us well, as we still cook and eat in often, which you need to if you're staying for a week, so it was home-from-home for us. The reserved parking spot (on request) at the local parking was a bonus, though not included at €30pd. We'd stay there again.

Less than a 10 minute walk to the cathedral in the historic center, this charming apartment met all of our needs. The high ceilings and understated classic decor was a pleasure to come home to. The beds were comfortable and when we needed a quick repair to a shower head, it was fixed within the hour. The 3rd half bathroom was a greater convenience than we anticipated and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The weather didn’t fully cooperate but the terrace was a pleasure to spend time on. Numerous restaurants were within blocks. We would definitely stay here again.

We would definitely stay again on return to Seville! Perfectly lovely accommodations for my husband and I and our adult son. Enjoyed the private terrace! Just as described or better!

We just LOVED this place. Everything was perfect and the check in process was so easy. Everyone we spoke with was so eager to help and make us comfortable. The A/C was a very welcome amenity as it was very hot during our stay. We enjoyed the private patio available to this unit. I would highly recommend staying here as it’s a great location and a very comfortable place to stay after long days exploring. FABULOUS!!!!!!!

Paradise in Seville
My wife and I hosted our two granddaughters going to the University of Seville. The suite was large enough for all of us, the bedrooms were large and comfortable and the bathrooms impecable adorned with colorful Sevilla tile. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked a lot. The private terrace was so inviting to relax and study. Attractions and the Center were at walking distance. The property manager was so helpful; knows everyone and helped with suggestions and referrals. Our stay was extremely enjoyable and helped make this a wonderful vacation.

Perfection in Seville
My family and I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful historical apartment in what was once a palace. The space had so much charm! The courtyards, the beautiful blue and white tile flanking the stairwells, the gorgeous moulding, the original interior shutters and the private terrace with a tiled fountain surpassed our expectations! If you are considering renting this property, do not hesitate. It is the perfect place to stay in Seville!

Beautiful flat, perfect location
We were very happy with the flat. It is perfect for two couples traveling together. Nicely furnished, well equipped, the building is a lovely old place that seems to have been recently renovated. The flat seems to have been designed for rental, so everything you need is there. Karina, who checked us in, was extremely helpful and was able to provide suggestions about restaurants, shopping etc. She even reserved tickets to an excellent non-touristy flamenco performance. Location is great -- we walked everywhere. Supersol within 4 minute walk. Streets are a bit maze-like (though beautiful) but once you get the hang of it, lovely just to wander. The flat also has a beautiful terrace which we didn't use too much due to weather but it is a definite place to have breakfast and then a drink before dinner. This place ticks all the boxes.

Absolutely wonderful property.
Without a doubt, Casa Santa Cruz went beyond our expectations. Charming, roomy, clean, historic. Great location for walking to amazing sites, restaurants, shopping, the river, Triana. Great hosts as well. I would stay again without hesitation.

Living the dream of a lavish lifestyle from the past
What more do you want in an apartment ?
Let's see - marble tiles , immaculate presentation, tasteful decor, one private patio and 2 shared courtyards , quiet street , right on the edge of the "old town" , opposite a 16th century convent(?), and numerous eateries a 5 minute stroll away.
Want to see the cathedral ( a real wow ) and alcazar - another 5 minutes.
Highly recommended
We will be returning next year if possible

The apartment was lovely, spacious and well kept.
We were delighted with the location and especially the service of Nono. His recommendations on restaurants and Flamenco were absolutely perfect! The apartment was a great layout perfect for two couples with plenty of open space and a great terrace of our own plus the other terraces that we could use. Definitely would return!
