About this villa rental
Roocello is the perfect Tuscan home for a family gathering or a group of friends.
Nestled between two streams in a tranquil setting this once characteristic olive mill has now been restored in to a beautiful family home.
The villa is full of character and retains many original features including the original granite stones which were once used to crush the olives into olive oil.
The interiors of Roocello are a stylish mix of traditional Tuscan pieces with modern comforts, including WiFi, laundry facilities and satellite TV.
The outside areas and gardens are an absolute delight with leafy courtyards, an ancient cypress tree and a sun drenched terrace nestled under the original workings of the mill’s water wheel.
Located at the edge of the village of Colle di Compito - villa Roocello offers complete privacy and tranquility but in just a five minute walk you will reach the heart of the village with its narrow cobbled lanes - once here in the village you will find a small grocery store, a bakery where you can pick up freshly baked bread every morning, a butchers and a small bar for that morning cappuccino!

All in all, great days there. We would recommend the property. It has charm and is ideal for a week. For the kids, the pool was the highlight in hot temperatures.

Property is larger than it looks in the pictures. Was in a very scenic village where you could walk to a small market, a bakery, and a couple restaurants. Was a great location to explore Tuscany from. Home was well appointed and comfortable. Host was kind and easy to work with. Overall it was a great experience.

Villa is located at the edge of a small village. Moderately large car is a challenge (mirrors in) to navigate through narrow street to villa. Alternate access is single-lane unpaved road that involves someone reversing if you meet up.
Location surprisingly noisy as it's located beside a working farm (cows/tractor traffic/mowing), near a dog kennel (barking) and with local motorbike traffic.
Pizzeria, small grocery/meat shop and bakery within 10 minute walk.
Kitchen: lots of dishes, pots/pans, cutlery etc. No spices or salt/pepper or sugar when we arrived. Welcome basket had two nice bottles of wine, crisps, decaf coffee, tea and milk in fridge.Lots of seating for meals: large tables inside (kitchen and dining area) and table with 8 chairs outside. Two lounge areas with comfortable couches, chairs and a Smart TV. Very good wifi. Pretty area around the small pool with lots of flowers, loungers and a stream. Pool/beach towels available.
Bedrooms: King bed in one bedroom; queen in second bedroom and 2 x single beds in 3rd room. 4th bedroom with 2 x single beds has a skylight that opens (no windows). Beds are firm with nice linens and extra pillows.
Bathrooms: 2nd upstairs bathroom has no windows (fan) shower only. Half bath downstairs with small tub/handheld shower. Lots of towels provided. Hotel size soaps for each room. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner, soap. Overall the villa is spacious and well appointed but not an especially quiet location.

We spent a lovely, relaxing, mindful week in this beautiful place. The house is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and the pool wonderfully cool in the heat of August. Marie and Lorenzo were welcoming, helpful and shared their huge knowledge and passion for the locality. The village has great shops for daily provisions and there are some very pretty walks (although the best views, of which there are many, do involve some uphill walking!). We would love to return sometime.

SUPER TIME
We were warmly welcomed by the owners.
We had a great time with our friends at the finca. We were captivated by the interior, which can certainly be used as the backstage of the movie. Visiting the city, especially at sunset, was very inspiring. Certainly, this stay will remain in our memory for a long time. Thank you again, Marie and Lorenzo for the nice time.Anna

The best of Tuscany
You sometimes look at the pretty pictures and think if it's half as nice it will be good. In this case, everything was twice as nice! This house is incredibly spacious with beauty and charm. Yes, there are olive oil presses in the living room, large ones, and still an amazing amount of space that also has a cozy and conversational feel. And that's just the downstairs. There's another living room area upstairs. The bedrooms are also spacious and very comfortable. Good bathrooms with plentiful hot water. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher , washer and dryer and lots of other amenities. And then there's the outside! A pool, a lounge chair area and the lovely outdoor table. There is so much to admire about this house, but what made the visit really extraordinary was the kindness, care and intelligence of the managers Marie and Lorenzo. Especially Marie, was so quick to respond to any question and she is so knowledgeable about the history and the off the beaten path places of the entire area. The folders left in the house was so detailed and helpful. Like one newly returned from vacation, I can go on and on about how great it was, but truly this was a very special experience. I can't thank Marie and Lorenzo enough for this terrific Tuscan holiday.

Super Friendly Landlords and beautiful house !
Very good and friendly communication, we were welcomed nicely and got a house tour. If we had any questions, we could always turn to the hosts and always get an answer directly. The house is very well maintained and looks like at the pictures. When we left, Lorenzo and Marie came to hand over the keys. Thanks for the great stay! only to be recommended :)

Wonderful holiday in this beautiful villa
I stayed here with my husband, daughter and grandchildren in September last year. As soon as we arrived and saw Roocello we were delighted. The villa is beautiful full of interesting very Tuscan features and the garden is delightful. Everthing was spotlessly clean and the furnishings are comfortable and cosy. Roocello is a great base for exploring this part of Tuscany, Lucca is just half an hour away where we loved cycling around the ancient walls and we drove to Florence in around an hour and had a wonderful time there. The village is just a five minute walk where we could shop and get our cappucinos and ice creams. We found a couple of lovely restaurants just five minutes drive away. When we returned to the villa from our adventures each day it was great to relax in the gorgeous garden in the shade of the terrace and cool off in the pool - the children particularly loved playing in the water every day. Marie and Lorenzo are the managers just 15 minutes away in Vicopisano and they were incredibly helpful and kind and invited us to join them in their lovely Medieval village for aperitivos - Marie suggested we bring some empty wine bottles - we went to her local enoteka and filled them up with Prosecco for just under 3 euros a bottle which was great fun! As a family, Roocello provided us with the perfect home from home in this stunning part of Tuscany and would happily recommend Roocello to anyone who is looking for an idyllic and peaceful place to stay with family or group of friends. We went home with the best memories so happy we chose Roocello and dream of our return.

Beautiful villa in a lovely location
We had a wonderful two weeks in this villa. The villa is very well equipped and spacious, making it ideal for a large group or family to stay in. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, Marie and Lorenzo, who provided information about the local area and were happy to help if we had any queries. The village is lovely and has a few shops where you can get local product and there is a supermarket less than 10 minutes drive away. The residents in the village were very friendly and welcoming, one lovely neighbour even brought us home grown tomatoes and wine!
Thoroughly recommend the olive grove in Vicopisano, where you can buy oil and wine that they grow and produce on site and they'll even show you how the oil is processed. We ate at the local restaurant where both the food and the service was excellent.
We would definitely recommend this villa and would not hesitate to stay there again.

A Tuscan Gem
Villa Roocello isa beautifully restored, comfotable, character filled home. It is tastefully furnished and very well equipped for indoor/outdoor living. It is a short distance from beautiful Lucca and is suitable for day trips to Sienna and Florence. We had a very good support service. We have also taken the house with the family fat Xmas and it was perfect. Always, we would recommend this wonderful place
