The excellent / communicative hosts provided a ton of information about activities in the area (maps, pamphlets, directions, and even pass/parking for nearby park).
Linens were professionally cleaned and sealed in plastic storage bags prior to check-in. Kitchen was immaculately clean and fully stocked with flatware / dishes / pans. Fridge/freezer were spotless and appeared recently sanitized.
There were detailed instructions for the jet tub and the fireplace. Both the wood burning fireplace and outdoor bonfire area included wood.
Hosts offered multiple options to communicate (email, text, app) and were very responsive to questions. 10/10

Blue Heron is a great base for cross-country skiing in the Huntsville/Algonquin Park area. The suite is lovely, very clean, and Susan is an incredibly welcoming and very helpful host (even brought me ointment for a cut on my finger!).

What a wonderful stay at Blue Heron Cove. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay! The cottage was beautiful, quiet and very relaxing. Our dog sure loved swimming in the lake and running around the property. Blue Heron Suite was very clean and cozy and you provided so many helpful extras, even homemade soap! We enjoyed every bit of our stay and we look forward to another in the near future

Beautiful and cozy
Susan and Dennis were amazing from the moment we requested the booking to the moment we got home after our weekend. Beautiful spot on the lake, ample wood for two nights of fire in the indoor fireplace and close to Provincial Parks and Huntsville for the rainy day we had. We will definitely be returning with our girls.

Beautiful location
We had the pleasure of staying at Susan & Dennis' property to be close to skiing at Arrowhead. Communication was exceptional and quick. Susan even made the reservations for us to ski. The apartment was spacious and cozy. A fire in the fireplace was already awaiting us when we arrived. There were many generous things that were provided that were not overlooked...tea, coffee pods, spices, doggie bags, bowls of treats for us etc. These sorts of provisions are not always included in a rental so these were a nice treat. The area was quiet and beautiful even in the winter. There's a firepit at the lake but it was too windy for us to make use of it. We were able to walk the road with our pooch without issue. Thanks so much Susan & Dennis for a very enjoyable stay.

Loved it!
Loved it there, Susan was easy to contact if needed and it made for a relaxing weekend away! The pictures don’t do justice to how cute the cottage basement apartment is that we stayed in :) it’s great for two people and their dog to visit for a little while!

Honeymooned At Blue Heron
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Heron! Property was beautiful, living area well decorated and comfortable! Owners very helpful and respectful of our privacy.
We really appreciated how well supplied it was with a canoe, bug jackets, bug spray, epsom salts and handmade soap, spices and some cream in the fridge, small notes all over to help with navigating, and a small dish of chocolates/candy on the counter really sweentened the deal :) It was easy to feel right at home :)
We also appreciated the Algonquin pass and the extensive information on what activities and restaurants that were available in the area!
Thanks again for making our first week as a married couple so special!

Such a great time, we are coming back in the summe
So glad we found this perfect little place. Susan is an awesome host and what other people say is correct. She is here if you need anything but other than that, you have complete privacy. It was very cold during our stay so we didn't venture out a lot, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet by the fire. Another great thing is that they are completely dog friendly. The place is very clean, and has everything you need (and more). We have already booked for a summer weekend so we can enjoy the dock, swimming, canoeing and some hiking. We highly recommend this place!

Excellent accommodation
Our family of four had a fantastic time relaxing by the water, swimming to the floating raft, playing in the 'treetop house', and riding bikes on the lawn. Fantastic hosts, and we'll definitely look at coming back again.

Exceptional service and felt like home
My family and I were extremely happy with our stay at Blue Heron. From the moment we booked to our departure, the service was excellent. During our stay, we kept marveling at how everything we needed was right at our fingertips. Every possible need was considered from the availability of coffee, cooking supplies, personal items and equipment/supplies for our excursions to Algonquin. The home is beautiful and comfortable and we would consider returning as soon as we can.

“Perfect winter getaway to experience great Canadi
My kids (17 and 13) and I had such a great little winter vacation and were able to pack so many activities in just 4 days with great savings thanks to the free Algonquin pass provided and being in such a great location. Snow shoes were available at the cottage so we could go snow shoeing around the lake which the cottage is on. Arrowhead park was just 15 mins away and we were provided with a free Algonquin pass that saved us the daily park/access fee per car. There, we did tubing, which was free, skating which was also free (for those that brought our own skates and skate rentals available for those that didn't), and cross-country skiing. There are also snow shoe trails at this park. It was so beautiful.
Susan was so welcoming when we arrived. The place was clean, cozy and again some complimentary extra's that we really appreciated. The extra bedroom was used and we all slept great....warm blankets, clean rooms and comfortable beds.
I can't say enough about our experience at Blue Heron's Cove but need to mention a very important extra that we've never experienced before which is how dog-friendly they were. No extra charge to bring our dog! ...and there were dog treats left for him too. I was in a pinch and was going to forego one additional activity we wanted to try (dog sledding) because we couldn't take or leave our dog but Susan offered to watch him for us! I knew our dog was in good hands with her and her family (which I also met both her son and daughter when we were checking out and all were very kind).
We really hope to experience the cottage in the summer, spring and fall and hope we get the opportunity to. With so many great reviews I'll need to book early!

Perfect family getaway
We cant thank you enough for your hospitality, beautiful accommodations, and making us feel at home. What a perfect spot for our little family to get away and enjoy the winter season. Your cottage is gorgeous and we wanted for nothing. Having the second bedroom was really helpful with our little guy!

A Nice Place To Stay
My husband and I stayed two nights in late November, 2016. The location is excellent. On the waterfront, walk out the French doors to a beautiful, expansive view of the lake. There is a large, fieldstone walkway from the entrance towards the lake and the lawn. It's quite impressive but there is little fill between the stones so you have to be careful walking across it. The surrounding area is great for taking a walk and we enjoyed the serenity we were surrounded with.
When we arrived it was dark. Don't arrive in the dark. There is only a skinny, dirt pathway to a set of outdoor stairs you have to duck under before you arrive at an outdoor patio under a deck belonging to the upper part of the home. It was difficult to navigate especially with luggage.
The cottage is actually a lower-level, above-grade apartment in a large cottage home. The owner, who lives upstairs, was very welcoming, helpful, and was on hand for any questions or concerns. We did hear the owner from time to time walking across the floor over us as well as hearing the sound of dishes being handled.
The apartment was very clean and spacious and it has plenty of large windows. The kitchen was fully equipped and the bathroom and living/dining room were roomy, There were ample linens and toiletries. We did find the two black sofas were well used (black tape duck covered a new places) and they were not comfortable to lounge on. That said, we are in our late 50s so sitting or lying on something ultra firm is a challenge. The bed was comfortable but it was high off the floor and up against a wall. There also is a crib but we couldn't move it out of the way to center the bed so we could get in on either side. We did pull it out about 30cm from the wall and we both got by with the narrow space to walk on either side. If you're flexible and not fussy you'll be fine.
A nice place to stay for two people.

Perfect Getaway
Blue Heron Cottage was the perfect getaway for my husband and I, our two-year-old girl, and our Bernese Mountain Dog. The cottage apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed - from cream for our coffee and fresh towels, to board books and stuffed animals tucked away for our little one. The waterfront was perfect for all of us - a dock for the dog to jump off and swim to shore, a shallow area for our toddler to play, and a beautiful view of the sunset each night for us. Our family loves to hike, so the park pass and proximity to Algonquin Park was perfect. One of the best surprises was the one-of-a-kind tree house that captured our little girl's imagination! We made so many great memories. Thank you Susan.

Beautiful Muskoka view!
The property was everything my husband and I were looking for. The fact that we had our own water front was perfect. We could sunbathe when we wanted or make use of the canoe (which we did every day!). We made use of the fire pit every night and were able to have such lovely evenings on the lake as well. The view from the door and lake front is exactly what you want when you stay in Muskoka. You can see beautifully calm waters and lush greenery. It was like looking at a post card. Susan was amazing and very accommodating. My husband and I had just gotten married and the property allowed us to be alone and de-stress after a hectic few months. We could not have been happier with our choice!

It was a pleasure :)
It was a pleasure, Susan. - we went out on the dock on Saturday night and, even though I thought the Perseid meteor storm had passed, we saw one incredible shooting star that lasted a good five seconds. Friday, with the weather looking ominous, we went on a brewery and gastropub excursion (we are both foodies) through Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. Saturday morning was hiking around west end of Algonquin. Nicole had never been to the Park, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Saturday evening was spent dockside at Blue Heron with the pooches (whom had settled in well by then - they are all adopted from shelters and suffer separation anxiety at first) - watched a beaver coming out from the neighbouring property, the shooting star, and then had an awesome lake-side fire under the stars. Sunday morning we canoed around the whole lakeshore, there are some spectacular places. The highlight of the canoe trip was being up close and personal with a loon that was more than happy to show off his plumage a few feet from us (a real show-off - I have kayaked close to loons, but they are shy and will submerge. This guy was anything but shy - hung out with us and another couple fishing. Incredible!). My regret is I didn't pop in to meet Travis Shilling at Jeff Miller's studio, but we had to head back to Toronto and Guelph. We really enjoyed Blue Heron, All the best, Gavin

Wonderful welcome, beautiful setting, cosy cottage
As we did not have a car Susan met us at Huntsville, took us shopping, arranged bicycles, a trail ,trips to Alonquin- and a nature trip with Chad, the wilderness expert who taught us how to make a friction fire. She is wonderfully thoughtful and considerate.
And the property is lovely.A wonderful secluded position by the lake with its own canoe, tree house and childrens play area.
The weather was cold but we enjoyed having bonfires by the lake, outside barbecues and cosy nights in playing Board games by the fire.
The property is thoughtfully equipped with wi fi,TV,jacuzzi, desk and work area, two cosy sofas by the fire- much more attractive than the photos on the website!
Everything was very clean ,lots of nice little touches-e.g.complementary set of tea and coffee, lots of logs for the fire and bonfire.
Altogether a very relaxing experience . We were very well looked after and would not hesitate to recommend Blue Heron-a lovely place.

Relaxing oasis
We had such a lovely time at Blue Heron. Susan is more than accommodating and the bed was gloriously cushy! We enjoyed exploring many of the trails in the area, which Susan thoughtfully pointed out to us, and gave us inside tips and knowledge about the area.
There is real attention to detail at this getaway, including natural, handmade soaps, a Keurig machine, complete with cups, and cream and juice left in the fridge. Loved having outdoor fires and enjoying the autumn colours.
Our dog Pot Roast appreciated the complimentary treats!

Excellent Stay!
We recently stayed at the blue heron and our family absolutely loved it! Very private and Susan was there is we had any questions and even helped us find some hidden gems. Great Lake front and loved having a bonfire looking out on the lake. Having the canoe and paddle boat was an added bonus and my son loved the floating dock to jump off of. Highly recommended and an excellent value!

Beautiful, relaxing cottage getaway
Steve and I got back from our trip to the cottage last week, and it really had everything we wanted — right on the lake, a canoe, a paddle boat, muskoka chairs, a fire pit, and a hammock! I was delighted by the treehouse we saw around the back, which was really charming and just the kind of thing I would have killed for as a kid. The free wifi was also really appreciated, because despite being on vacation I can't resist posting pictures online!
Nobody knew it at the time, but Steve and I had just gotten engaged (!), so we really had something to celebrate! We went canoeing, and saw a loon with two little fluffy babies in tow. We did several different hikes at Algonquin Park, and spent an afternoon in Huntsville. It was all very romantic. Highly recommended. Thank you, Susan! It was a pleasure to meet you (and your pets).

Fantastic, will return
We have visited this property twice now. Once in winter and once in Spring. We absolutely loved it! There are many things available to do and so much to see even right out the door/windows. The property is very well maintained and so comfortable. We were allowed to bring our dog and he loved it as well. Huntsville is a beautiful town and the stay at Blue Heron was warm and very relaxing. We plan to return.
thank you again!

Blue Heron was everything we needed for our young family and more. It really is just as beautiful as the photos show it to be, in fact we think nicer. The lake and view are gorgeous especially at sunset, and you are literally steps away from lakefront! The hosts were wonderful to book with and were so helpful all through the entire process, very responsive to our endless questions, and very, very organized. It’s the perfect base for exploring beautiful Algonquin country. We had two rainy days, and was so impressed with the board games left out for us – I forgot how much fun a family board game can be! Our kids 5 & 7, absolutely LOVED the lakefront treehouse and gym swing set on the property. Not sure what we could do on a rainy day, so we called Susan and took advantage of her recommendation to go out to the Algonquin Visitors center. Wow my kids, husband and I spent the entire day and were captured by the displays and my kids came back wanting to return for more. That’s a must see for sure, all ages would be impressed
We would highly recommend this property - you won't be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Blue Heron. It was a true Canadian experience. The time we had was amazing, our little grandson (23 months) really enjoyed the space and freedom that is not possible in a hotel! Thank you for making our holiday very special. Everything was beautifully prepared and very welcoming after a long travel from Germany. It makes a nice change to turn up at a property and find it just as advertised (or even better). We have rented properties before which have turned out to be over sold. This was certainly not the case here!
With very best wishes from the Fleischer family
