About this apartment rental
Over 1050 SF! Sunny and bright two bedrooms two baths, full kitchen, large living room, creekside condo blocks from downtown Salem. View of Mill Creek from each bedroom and living room and large balcony overlooking the creek. Reserved covered parking. Three blocks from Salem Center Mall, five blocks from State Capital and six from Willamette University.
Two large bedrooms, large, open living room with dining table, seating area overlooking the creek. Plenty of light and space. Over 1050 sf! Full kitchen (range, microwave, dishwasher and fridge.) This is a mid century modern building that was built in the 1964, it is VERY well maintained and well built with unique stone aggregate siding. It is not a new building but it is well built with large units and an amazing location right on the creek. All units have been updated, but please be aware of the age of the building as some people have commented it was older. It has a lot of character that you do not get in a modern building.
Well Behaved Pets ARE WELCOME with a $15 per pet cleaning fee (1 time not per night.) Please note that the manager does live on site and please arrange the Pet Fee Payment before your stay. Thank you!
You are in the downtown area and though it is very safe (the new police station is being built only 4 blocks away), this is a metro area and there are two homeless support facilities in the downtown area so you will see the people they support. We have never had any issues or any of our guests, but it is a part of life in many cities and you should be aware of it, if this will be a concern for you we recommend you look for a property outside of the downtown area
We have a SMART Roku TV and high speed internet. The TV has apps on it for all popular streaming services that you can use your account with (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, You Tube Premium) as well as many free apps for different types of TV. We try to keep costs down by cutting cable so normal broadcast TV is not available.
Kitchen comes with pots, pans, bakeware, cooking utensils, microwave and full size range and oven. Blender, french press and standard coffee maker, coffee grinder and plenty of silverware and dishes.
PLEASE note! The property manager for this building lives in one of the units in this building. We welcome well behaved guests. Please DO NOT expect to be able to throw a big party or make lots of noise after 10PM. This is a quite, calm neighborhood and we want you to enjoy your stay and want the other tenants to enjoy theirs as well! We want to be good neighbors and ask for your help! We ask that you do NOT smoke on the deck as it will impact other units, there are lovely areas to walk to if you need to smoke right outside of the property (by the carport overlooking the creek and on the bridge overlooking the creek.)
Thank you for understanding and please message me with any questions!
You are located just a couple of blocks from the center of Salem’s downtown and there are several drug stores, coffee shops, LOTS of restaurants a Rite Aid under a 10 minute walk (5-6 blocks) and a Safeway that is about a 15 minute walk (7-8 longer blocks ) from the condo.
The building has a coin-op laundry shared with the 5 other units that is under 50 feet from the condo front door. New Machines as well.
During the summer the unit has an AC installed. We take it out for fall and winter but there are box fans if you get too warm (unlikely in OR as it is usually VERY mild). The AC is in the main bedroom and it will cool the unit, please use the box fans to move the air through the unit. Most guests find this is sufficient, however if you require it to be constantly under 72 degrees we recommend looking for another property with central AC.
You are 6 blocks (10 minutes) from the state capital and if you go up 1 block (east) to Historic Cottage street you will walk buy many historic homes and then into the Capital gardens which is my favorite way to approach the capital building. You are 5-6 blocks from Macys and Salem Center mall which is the northers end of the old downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. You can also walk a bit further west and go to the park and carousel along the Willammette River, take the pedestrian bridge over to Minto Island park or a favorite of mine is to take the old railroad trestle (NOW a pedestrian walkway) over the river to the park on the other side which is a short walk to a great Grocery store (Roths Fresh Market) with a awesome Deli and salad bar and KILLER local wine selection. Also in that shopping center is a starbucks so it makes for a nice walk!
This is in an apartment building, it is on the first floor so you will have a neighbor above and to the side of you. You will hear other people which is part of life when sharing walls. If that is not something you want please look for a home that would better suit you. Thanks for understanding!

The host were able to answers all questions that we had. The property location is beautiful.
Few suggestions: bathroom shower curtains need fixing. Kids found dead bugs in bedroom. The microwave had a stain and needs cleaning. The owner should do a full pest control.
Loud walking noises were noticed due to apt being on the ground floor..
Please clean the deck area.. so renters can enjoy sitting in the patio.
We enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

The property is 0.9 miles away from the transition for the event, we rode our bikes for bike drop off and got dropped off the morning of the race while our sherpa went back to the rental and parked there since there was not a lot of parking while everyone was dropping off their athletes. He then just walked to Riverfront to spectate.
Location- this cannot be helped, if you want to be close to transition, then you will be near where the homeless community hangs out but we rode our bikes and no one ever gave us trouble. I wouldn’t leave any valuables in your car for sure because we did see hand prints on our windows from all locations that we parked at, not just the property but the riverfront itself, it is just how it is, but truthfully, I did not feel unsafe. Even the homeless community greeted us.
Property- we have one of those amazon vans with midroof so we couldn’t park on the designated property but our friend’s pick up truck fit and it was close to the property front door! We always got great street parking though, close to the property. The home is fully stocked. There is one AC unit in the masters but it is enough to get the whole place cold if you leave the door open, I would just use thick blankets in the main room; there’s also a fan for the other bedroom. Beds are comfortable and plenty of space in the living room for either an airbed or a cot. There is a futon the size of a full bed but we also brought a cot with us.Best part was the terrace overlooking the river

The best part was sitting on the porch overlooking Mill Creek: chatting, reading, and writing.

Woke up to a bum climbing out from under out deck. We fought ants all weekend. The tile shower has mold or mildew growing badly.

Owner gave great notes on how to use the property. Location could scare some people off. Don't panic. Just stay there. Creek below balcony was special.

The pictures do not do justice to how lovely the creek is
nor how close the house is. Comfortable beds, black out window dressing, and babbling brook make for a great night's rest.

Communication with the property owner from the very start of our booking was fantastic. The check in instructions were incredibly accurate and helpful. On arrival the place was immaculately cleaned and stocked with all of the amenities you need. Listening to the Mill Creek while sitting on the patio was one of our favourite things to do at night. We planned on parking and walking during our stay which worked out fine. It is just about a mile to the majority of the downtown dining and entertainment locations.
All in all a fantastic stay at a great place. We’ll likely be back often.

I could not stay there! I felt very unsafe. Homeless people sleeping on sidewalk, which was disclosed in listing; however, it sounded like someone kicking in a door after hearing him yelling “is anybody in there” a few times. I notified owner asking for reassurance that I should be safe and he replied that he disclosed the homeless problem in his listed. I left immediately!

Pros: convenient place, assigned parking in the back, creek view from balcony, fully equipped kitchen, great communication from host, lots of towels and extra bedding, very quiet neighbors, lots of amenities included
Cons: homeless congregations across the street, abandoned cars in parking spots, unreliable wi-fi, possibly moldy? smell in the house, 1 AC not enough to cool down the whole house not even w the fans

Great landing spot for us to participate in our child’s UO graduation. Located midway between family in Portland and Eugene, we avoided the UO crowds and lodging costs while enjoying Salem and the amenities close to the condo. The accommodations are comfortable and the creek sounds are refreshing. Hosts are very communicative.

Pay close attention to the very detailed instruction the owner sends. We did not and had trouble finding the parking. But that was totally on us!!!! Once we found parking and got inside, the home was lovely. We texted with the owner who was so nice. She helped us out navigating around town.
The unit was well stocked with amenities including popcorn and oatmeal - nice touches! It was wonderful to sit on the balcony in the morning and drink my tea while watching the bubbling brook.
The condo is adjacent to a lovely neighborhood with adorable houses and beautiful yards. Walking around the neighborhood was a delight. We took other walks to the capital building, the university and the old town. All easy and very enjoyable.
I would absolutely stay here again.

Weird Experience
The place had a minimalist vibe.
We arrived late. The owners/housekeeper had not cleaned the main suite after the previous guest. As a result, the bed was slept in, and dirty towels were on the ensuite floor.
Not only was this disappointing, but I also did not feel safe because if they did not clean the unit, did they change the digital door lock code after the previous guest?
I would have gone elsewhere if it were not close to midnight.
The rest of the unit appeared to be clean.
There were clean blankets in the second bedroom and clean towels in the second bathroom.
I slept on the futon in the front room.
The front room offered no privacy as the large sliding glass door did not have a curtain or shade. I would see the people who lived in the unit across the creek every time I looked out the sliding glass door or sat on the deck.
Waking up to the bright sunrise shining through the sliding glass door was nice. I enjoyed coffee on the deck while listening to the water running through the creek in the morning.
The sunrise, deck, and creek were the best part of this experience.
Parking was awkward. Street parking was limited.
The owners gave me a partial refund for the inconvenience, but I would have preferred a clean place to stay when I arrived without concern about who may have the access code to the unit.

Overall Good Stay
Need more comfortable chairs, safety features in the bathrooms, mattresses maybe should be replaced.
Kitchen well stocked, pretty of towels and sheets, loved the patio, loved the ability to walk downtown, thank you for games and TV. Thank you for coffee too! We would stay there again.

Older place but comfortable
The apartment is in an older small complex. It was comfortable but not fancy. It was very quiet and convenient to the downtown. I was there alone for nearly 3 weeks and although the homeless population is a few blocks away, I was never afraid or uncomfortable.

Great Place for a Get-Away
What a great place to stay for a get-away to the Capitol. Centrally located just blocks from stores, restaurants and the state Capitol Bulidling. It was very clean, spacious and had all of the amenities we could need/want. The creek that runs along the backside is beautiful. We cracked our bedroom windows at night so that we could listen to the beautiful sound. Super easy check-in and check-out. Host was very responsive and also gave perfect directions on the location, including the parking spot. We would definitely stay here again.

Carefully read the property description
Before you book this location, but sure to thoroughly read the description. They are not hiding the fact that there are several homeless people outside and around the neighborhood.
We did not feel comfortable and choose not to park or sleep at the property. Be aware of what you will be renting if you book this VRBO property.

Perfect little get away
While the property is a bit dated it was perfect as a home base as we wandered around Salem. Affordable - owner contact - all we’re top notch

We found the listing to very accurate. Loved the creek that's just outside bedrooms and the deck.
The listing is very accurate. The directions were spot on. The homelessness close to the rental is accurate as well but we work with the homeless in our town so they didn't bother us. When we had to go boxes from dinner we would take them over and talk to them. Interesting stories. I like getting up in the morning and walking around exploring the town and finding coffee shops and seeing whats going on around the town. Huge 3 on 3 basketball tourney this past weekend. Farmers markets were great. Neat town to explore. Riding bikes on the Island was really nice. Lots of fun day trips less that an hour from Salem. If we return to Salem we would stay here again. If you dont like homeless folks you probably wouldn't like this area as warned in the listing. Didnt bother us all.

Urban Oasis
Stayed here with our 2 kids + dog while visiting family and it was great! Super convenient location right downtown. The layout of the condo has a nice separation between the living/dining area and the bedrooms which is great for naptimes (our kids and ours LOL) Its clear the owners put a lot of attention to detail with some features Id expect in a hotel. But the real gem is the patio space that overlooks the creek. We spent both morning with our coffee and evenings with our cocktails enjoying the deck space! As other reviewers mentioned, there are some transient people across the street (typical throughout downtown) but we parked in the back assigned parking space and never saw another person on the property during our 4 day stay. Very safe IMO. Cant wait to stay again over the christmas holidays!

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover
The exterior of the complex & immediate neighborhood did not provide a great first impression, but the rental unit itself was very nice, the neighbors were all very quiet (at 10:00 PM everything got quiet every night), and within walking distance we were able to find nice places to eat/shop. Some very nice touches (lots of towels, very comfortable beds, plenty of dishes & paper products, and nice appliances/coffee maker), but nothing fancy (not that most people are looking for fancy in Salem) and lesser used amenities could use some TLC/additional thought. A good value for the price and the manager was very responsive. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Trip for graduation
We came to Salem for the graduation of our daughter from Corban University. The place was clean and well restored as the pictures showed. The neighborhood was not as nice as we liked with quite a few homeless people hanging out nearby but overall the experience was good.

We only stayed 1 night but the condo was well supplied and comfortable. Off street parking was a plus.
Location is really a don't know as we only spent the night and did not explore the area.

Our stay in Salem was a short one but we wanted to be able to relax in a nice space and not be cramped in a hotel room. VRBO to the rescue! We were pleasantly surprised that this location was exactly where we needed it to be on the map. Pics looked nice enough so we booked it. Upon arriving we were confused about where the actual building was. There are two condos on either side of the river and we sat at one while going through the detailed directions before realizing we needed to keep driving. (This was my fault and just a warning for others that think they don’t need to read the full directions). I am about to say the only not wonderful things about this place, but they are totally workable. 1st: parking. There is one spot at the back of the property for your car. It was under a car port but kind of tight and we didn’t notice any marks stating which one was for us. We had guests for dinner and they had to park a ways down the street. Very inconvenient. 2nd: there were some unsavory characters wandering about. Not enough for me to grab my purse and run, but enough to make us lock the car 4 times to make sure our stuff was safe. (It totally was safe and we do not have any police reports filed) Now to the inside. It was immaculate. The second we walked through the door we could tell that there had been a lot of work put in to update the space. It is decorated with a modern vibe but not too modern. We wished that it wasn’t winter time so that we could enjoy morning coffee on the cute little deck. The kitchen was small but great for making dinner for 6. Sadly there was a shortage of pits and pans as they seem to have been kept by previous renters, but that was remedied by a quick run to the store. (Maybe check the pan status prior to choosing a dinner menu). The two bedrooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were spacious and updated nicely. This rental was perfect for our needs and we have already discussed staying there any time we are in town. We will gladly spend a bit more than on a hotel in order to have a large area to relax and entertain in. And by being able to cook our own dinner I guarantee it saved us money in the long run. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Christmas in Salem
We found this apartment to be exactly what we needed to spend a social distance holiday with our son. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Had everything we needed to cook all meals. Beds very comfortable and warm. The river was high, so a constant rushing water sound lulled us to sleep each night. Long bathtub with plenty of hot water. Location very close to downtown. Will look forward to staying here again. Great communications with owners who wanted to make sure we had a nice stay.

Hosted Thanksgiving for 9 family members. Comfy, clean, cozy. Big table and large living area provided room for us all without feeling cramped. Enjoyed the Roku? Smart tv. Played our board games. Beds were comfy. View was nice. Having two bathrooms was.nice. ample closet space. Nice place.

Downtown Salem
A very clean and well equipped condo with plenty of space for family and pets. The location could be a bit of a challenge if you are wanting to do the easy walk to shopping and dining and are not comfortable with many walks of life that comes with staying in the city. We had no problems and enjoyed the ease of the location very much!

Salem Downtown Convenience with Water
The condo could not be better located. Only 3 blocks from downtown Salem but right on a lovely creek. Easy access from all directions, especially if going out of town West or East. Close to Safeway and Roth's Fresh Market.
The condo itself is roomy , spotlessly clean and exceptionally well stocked with everything one would have at home. The owner, Amanda, could not have been more helpful and responded to all emails virtually immediately.
We would certainly highly recommend this to anyone staying in Salem.

Really nice stay in Salem
Great property, convenient location, reasonable price, everything as advertised. Only suggestion is that living room needs a bit more comfortable furniture.
