About this house rental
Relax and unwind in the brand new Heirloom Cabin on beautiful Lewis Smith Lake, Alabama. Located in a quiet cove off of Rock Creek with huge views of one of the cleanest lakes in the U.S., this cabin abounds with authenticity!
Heirloom Cabin was carefully carved into the natural landscape of mature hardwood trees and moss-covered rocks to look as if it has always been there. To further fit in with its surroundings, the home was built with all natural materials including wood walls throughout the home, wood siding, natural moss rock stone on the inside and outside, marble and slate bathrooms, and soapstone countertops.
The living room has custom designer furniture along with a masonry fireplace and a folding glass wall that completely opens up to the screened porch. The kitchen concept brings you back to a simpler time but is fully outfitted and anchored by a three-foot custom Viking gas range and commercial hood. The Subzero fridge is carefully hidden away in a custom built cabinet, and the microwave and other countertop appliances are stowed in an effort to not give away the age of the home. While the concept of the design was to be cozy and inviting, there is over 2100 SF of space in the 4 bedroom and 3 bathroom home spread out across three levels. It's reassuring to know during inclement weather that the lake level bathroom is also a storm room with 10" thick reinforced concrete walls, drop ceiling, and steel door.
Main Level: Eat-in-kitchen, Living room, screened porch, master bedroom (Queen), full bathroom, wet bar, laundry closet (front loading)
Upper Level: Two Bedrooms (Queens) with vaulted ceilings, shared bathroom
Lake Level: Den, kitchenette, bedroom (2 twin beds in bunk configuration), full bathroom, concrete safe room
What we love about the Heirloom Cabin:
-Located on a quiet cove with beach area but with year round water, zero boat traffic, and long range views
-Almost every room has a lake view
-Wet bar has a faucet that filters and dispenses chilled flat or sparkling water (leave the La Croix at home)
-Cozy master bedroom with stone wall, sitting nook, and great views
-Open up the folding wall to the screen porch and open the top half of the kitchen dutch door and feel the breeze coming off the lake and through the trees
-Covered boat dock with Hydrohoist boat lift, stand up paddle boards, canoe, and comfy lounge furniture
-Nearly 1 acre of land and 300' of waterfront to explore. The area to the side of the house has huge rock outcroppings and a cave to explore.
Our Heirloom Cabin was built with great care to create an authentic, timeless, and generational lake vacation experience. From the wooded drive down a winding lane, to the trees and rock outcroppings that the cabin has emerged from, you will forget your worries upon arrival.
Conveniently located 1 mile from Rock Creek Marina where you will find a boat launch, fuel, and snacks. Most importantly make sure you stop by and see Sammy the owner and feed the local fish that hang out under the docks. Also located at Rock Creek marina is Land and Lure Boat Rentals and guide service. They can help you get out on the water with pontoon, ski boat, jet ski, and other water toy rentals. You can also book a Striped Bass fishing trip through them with Captain Brian Wolfe. Check them out at: or call (205) 530-0276
Although we don't allow pets, they don't have to miss out on the vacation. Just a few miles down the road is a highly recommended pet boarding kennel run by some long time lake people Lara and Ivan Diaz. The started Smith Lake Kennels because of their love for animals and it shows. For the price of a pet fee at a rental home, your pets can have their own vacation and you can stop by and visit them just down the road. Beautiful home, built into the rocks and trees. Very nice cove and dock. Owner was responsive and process was great.

Cozy cabin feel to the house and secluded enough to make you feel like you are disconnected from the outside world, which is just what we wanted!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heirloom Cabin. Indoor spaces were clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The house is situated in a very picturesque area that offers privacy but also easy accessibility to the great dock and water space. The kids especially enjoyed the stand-up paddleboards and canoe and the availability of life vests for all was an added perk. It was evident that the property is loved and well-cared for by the owners and our family appreciated the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful space for a long weekend.

The house was beautiful with everything (plus more) that we needed. We played games in the screened in porch at night and enjoyed the water and dock during the day. It was a much needed weekend away spent with family.

beautiful home!! The decoration was so warm and inviting. They had all we needed to have a wonderful stay. The dock has these beautiful layout chairs with cushion. They are so comfy and we enjoyed laying out. The paddle boards are a fun addition as well. The only cons we found was that our friends who slept in the twin beds/pillows said they weren’t the most comfortable! Feel as though that’s an easy fix. Yet, the master bed was SO comfortable.
Overall, highly would recommend for a family/ friend reunion or just luxurious get away. If you have or rent a boat this is a perfect place as well! Very kid friendly.

We had a lovely stay at this home. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. We used the Canoe to paddle around the lake. The lake was pretty quiet in mid-April, and the water was cold. However, we ate on the outside porch and enjoyed the birds and blooms. Heard the first whippoor-will of the season the first night. The kitchen was well stocked and had professional appliances. Had no real complaints, other than the fact that the area is very isolated and because of gravel road, takes a while to get into. This wasn't a problem, since we were aware of this before the trip. It's just something to keep in mind. You'll want to have all of your necessitates before arrival.

We came for a quick spring break getaway after visiting Samford. We loved the house and the property on the lake. The house worked perfectly for our family of five. Everyone had plenty of space to spread out and enjoyable space to hang out for family time. We very much enjoyed the screened in back porch and the views of the lake. The house is well designed and very comfortable. We visit many homes through VRBO across the country. We would definitely recommend this home and would stay here again.

We enjoyed the lovely cabin! The weather was chilly, but it was great fun bundling up in blankets & sitting on the pier. Everything was just great!

Beautiful and peaceful location. Very comfortable. It was awesome to have access to the paddle boards and canoe and the jet ski rental was close and easy. Make sure and stock up on the way in unless you don't mind the 40 minute drive to Cullman.

I booked this cabin for my husband’s birthday. We had our teenage sons and 10 year old daughter along for the stay. The property was beautiful and so cozy. This cabin was built with so much attention to detail and It was the perfect size for our stay. We rented a great newer pontoon from Squirrel’s which is located very close to the property but also enjoyed the provided canoe in the early mornings and late evenings. We had dinner at nearby restaurants and both were great! My daughter even joined in on karaoke night at the restaurant. The path to the dock could present as a challenge for older guests. Overall, we had a blast. It was very relaxing and we would love to return for a full week next time.

Great house with plenty of space and well equipped. We enjoyed the lake and the large dock. Peaceful location and beautiful views. Will definitely book again. WiFi isn’t dependable so if you need it for work it’s not the best so be aware. Also stock up before arrival as shops are far. We didn’t have to leave, had plenty of groceries. Enjoyed the home and the beautiful setting.

Amazing house nestled into the hillside above the lake. Great dock and quiet cove to enjoy. We rented a boat (separately) and spent long days on the water, and then relaxed at night on the screened in porch overlooking the lake. Would definitely come again!

This cabin is absolutely beautiful! The pictures don’t do it justice. It was exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway! The screened in porch was amazing, even though it rained on our trip we still enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the rain!! Can’t wait to visit again!

What a beautiful and welcoming cabin and a peaceful, relaxing getaway - just what our family needed. This place is really special. The simple but luxurious cabin seems like it was designed by an architect (not a contractor), with thoughtfully chosen materials and a design aesthetic that makes it feel like a natural extension of the land and lake environment that surrounds it. I loved the subtle green paint on the exterior, which complemented the stone elements of the facade so well. This aesthetic is carried throughout the interior, with dark woods, gorgeous stone walls and fireplace, and beautiful greens and neutrals throughout. The stone seems like it could have been sourced directly from the land the cabin stands on, and there is an interesting stone walk down to the dock with large boulders and a stone stairway that the kids loved (but may not be the best for those with more limited mobility, just to keep in mind). The gorgeous kitchen included all the things I wish I could have all the time - like a beautifully integrated refrigerator and 6-burner gas oven (things you'll probably want to take advantage of, since this little slice of heaven is out there a ways, so restaurants and even Walmart are quite a drive). Even the furniture was interesting and beautiful, and perfect for the location - much of it looks to be handcrafted pieces, or antique. I also appreciated the little luxuries and special touches throughout the house, like the nicely curated collection of books on a variety of interests. And other luxuries, like the dual shower system in the walk-in master bedroom shower, which included a rainfall shower head as well as a higher-pressure shower (another thing I wish I had all the time!). I could have happily spent the entire week enjoying the cabin itself, but the scenic and peaceful lake is also just wonderful. It is a nice little cove, and the kids enjoyed hours of canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, and just relaxing on the dock each day. And there is a pontoon rental location less than 10 minutes away. The host was also very quick and responsive to any questions that we had. We were sad to leave and are already trying to plan out when we can stay here again.

We had an absolute blast staying here. The view was breathtaking, the decor was cozy and beautiful, the beds were comfy, kitchen stocked perfectly to cook dinner or grill; I could go on about it all. 10/10 recommend for a friend group, lovers, or family getaway. So so great!!!

Great place for a weekend getaway. This property is tucked into a quiet cove great for water sports on calm water. This house is in a remote location so don’t forget anything. The screened in porch overlooking the lake was our favorite spot in this house.
The dock is in beautiful water with a easy up ladder we spent most of the day on the lake and then the late afternoon relaxing in the water around the dock.

Beautiful Lake Home
Perfect getaway for a quick trip to the lake. The kitchen was fully stocked and beautiful. Bedrooms were comfortable. We appreciate all the lounge chairs, paddle boards, and canoe at the dock. They were a big hit.
I would recommend driving a truck or SUV to the location as some of the roads arriving were a little rough. We didn’t have any problems and were glad we drove the truck.

This property is as good as advertised. The house is in excellent condition, and was built in a very efficient manner. Every square foot is well utilized, and you will not be disappointed. I have rented at least 10 different houses over the past 6 years or so, and this is my favorite. Awesome setup. Kudos to all that put there effort into constructing this property.

We were immediately in love with the home. It was obviously designed by an architect and felt like home right away. As described, like it was always there, yet so modern… high end appliances in the kitchen but blended in to look like a generational lake home — which it is surely destined to be. The 50-70 steps between the house and dock, depending on where you enter the house were a little daunting at first for a group of 60-something’s, but the way they blend with the natural landscape are part of the charm and beauty. Overall it was just a relaxing and fun week. We hope to return!

This home is incredibly cozy. It was perfect for what we were looking for. It was so quiet and we skipped rocks, sat on the dock, read books and played guitar. The house has a great vibe. It was so comfortable by the water even in January. I can imagine it’s wonderful in the summer. It was cold and raining and we kept a fire going the entire time. The screened in porch is such a wonderful spot! We had to leave a day early due to a winter storm coming in but we hope to be back!!
