Very friendly welcome from the owner
Description on Booking.com says the rooms have a shower - the room we were allocated did not and we were expected to use the shared bathroom along the corridor.
Parking is on-street with no private parking.

+ You can feel like Harry Potter in his tiny room under the stairs.
+ Its close to Didcot train station
- Everything is filthy!
- Furniture and carpet floor are very old and need replacement.
- Breakfast is as cheap as it gets ( instant coffee, etc.) and there is no comftable place to sit. (Wintergarden if the only place with chairs and its very cold in winter)
- Shared bathroom with very tiny sink and a bath tub where the water does not run off
- No privacy! You can hear everyone in the house and they can hear you.

The landlord is an absolute gem! I broke my hand prior to staying here and the guy came over in his free time to carry my suitcase upstairs for me. If that doesn't scream brilliant service then I honestly don't know what is. It's also perfectly priced for what it is and nice and close to both the train station and the high street.
The banister on the stairs is a bit weak and could do with being reset or replaced. Also, just as a side note, the door handle and lock combo on the doors is rather difficult for one handed persons but I'm being picky.

Close to railway station, Didcot Railway Centre and high street - clean room with nice towels and comfortable bed! Lots of variety for breakfast. Philippe provided quick and responsive communication and was accommodating to our needs.

I really liked the host, Philippe. He was very welcoming and made the stay a very pleasant experience. Lynn who is there to keep the place looking tip top was also there daily, and was a wonderful lady. I would definitely go there again.
It was such a good location, just a few minutes walk from Didcot station. There is a pub opposite the station if you want to stop off before!
The washing machine and tumble dryer were a real bonus. It was pretty quiet. The other guests weren't noisy or anything so it seems to be a place for working people to stop by, or people on the odd trip to events or places nearby (a festival called Bunkfest was on whilst I was staying).
It's also really easy to get places from there as the station is so close. There are plenty of taxi companies including a really nice one called 'Ali G Taxis' who weren't extortionately expensive. Sainsbury's is a 5-minute walk and there seems to be an increasing amount of things/places to go within Didcot.
I mean it was pretty good so not much to say here. In retrospect I would've preferred a room downstairs, which I'll know for next time as bathroom facilities are downstairs.

Despite Phillipe's protestations, the room I booked was actually double booked. The B&B isn't always manned and so there's a number of key safes by the front door. I was given a code and room number. However, I entered the code to find there was no key inside. I subsequently rang the doorbell and two gentlemen answered. It transpired that one of the gentlemen had the key to my room in his hand, as he'd also booked the room for that night.
I'm sorry Phillipe but it doesn't matter how many times you say that no-one knew the safe code and that the room hadn't been double booked. Clearly this chap knew the key code. It's only 4 digits so perhaps he broke the code. Either way that's of zero use to me if I couldn't actually stay the night because this chap had the key to the room I'd booked. It's also insulting when you clearly weren't listening to me and kept repeating, "but it hasn't been double booked and it's impossible for someone else to know the number". Well obviously they did know as he was holding the keys in his hands and they weren't in the safe. Perhaps listen to your customers in future.
But ultimately minimal harm done, except my having to drive all the way home, cutting a business trip short. Booking.com customer service was excellent so was fully refunded.

Amazing host and a great night’s sleep.

Clean and tidy, novel approach to breakfast, where cereal, milk and chocolate du pane were freely available to help yourself.
Nothing really. it was never described as en-suit, so that wasn't a problem.

Good communication.
Plastic roof in room next to kitchen: no insulation. Very damp place.

The location is practical for the train station but I cannot recommend staying in the property for this reason alone.
The room was falsely advertised. It lists a shower and toilet as features although it does not make clear that these are shared facilities.
The property is not safe. On arrival the front door was unlocked and wide open with no host or guest in sight. About half an hour later we heard another guest shouting and swearing at people in the street outside. The place feels a bit like temporary accommodation or sheltered housing rather than a BnB. Ear plugs are provided in the room which suggests it gets noisier at night.
The property was not clean. Another tenant/guest had left dirty socks on the windowsill and there were other people’s toiletries around.
We did not feel safe staying in the property so booked alternative accommodation nearby. For £16 more we had a double room with en suite and cooked breakfast. I am unable to comment on the comfort of beds or the night’s sleep as we simply couldn’t stay there.
This stay was two weeks ago now. In the time since I have tried to resolve the issues with the host who has largely ignored me. No compensation has been offered despite me giving photo evidence of the state of the place.
I would strongly recommend against staying here. You will have a poor experience and will lose money.

Grab and go breakfast.
Great location, very quiet.
Comfy bed.
2.0 / 5.0
Room comfort. It was useful to have a microwave, tea arrangements and refrigerator inside the room. Location near to local transport.
Both bathrooms are located on the ground floor. There is not even a sink in the upper floor. The owner could have provided somewhat clearer instructions as to how one can open the key lockers, and the main door. There is very little light outside the building. One needs a torchlight to open the key box or the door
