Location is remarkable. Amazing views.
Shower room was tiny, very tiny. Windows dirty with dead insects and cob webs abundant.

The hotel is surrounded by rolling hills and idyllic views, the staff were very welcoming and accomodating even though our booking didn't show up on their system upon arrival and although we hadn't made a reservation for food, the chef offered to make us anything we liked, would definitely visit again

Food cannot fault. Breakfast and dinner top class
View spectacular and quiet location.
Just taken over but a good hoover especially round entrance and stairs would not go amiss!

Location is excellent. Food is good when it's available. The one member of staff that I experienced was extremely pleasant and friendly. Food and drink prices are very fair.
Lack of staff. Chef disappeared on holiday so no breakfast on Sunday or Monday and no evening dining on Sunday, despite being asked to book a table for every evening in advance.
To be fair we were given vouchers for breakfast at the local tea room - where the breakfast was superb.
To be told on Saturday evening that there's no food at all on Sunday is unacceptable.
Under new management and suffering from lack of staff.
I stayed here the same time last year and it was far better.
Shame as it is a great position, food when available, is very good.
I hope the new manager can realise his dreams.

The only positives about our stay were Gavin in particular and his staff. He has recently taken over and recognises that much needs to be done to reach a standard he wants for his guests.
Lovely views.
Scruffy outside - needs new windows, threadbare carpets, gloomy lighting and pictures on the wall. In the bedroom, the curtain rail was off the wall, the beds looked like they'd been slept in, dusty, oversized TV, cracked tiles in the bathroom and the radiators didn't work but we were provided with electrical ones.
Breakfast - the milk was curdled and the glassware was grubby. Food was lukewarm.

The location is fantastic even in the bad weather
The property is in need of a complete renovation, several things need sorting out. The heating, the plumbing, and the configuration of some of the rooms.

Cosy, quaint Inn with fantastic views and lovely breakfast
Make sure you pre-book dinner as we missed out both nights due to it being fully booked and we had to eat elsewhere

Breakfast at best ok. My personal opinion is that buffet food is never hot enough and does not look appetising.
Enjoyed our stay. Excellent welcome and service.
Room 3 large, airy with good view and large toilet bathroom and walk in shower.
Larger newer bed would be an improvement.
No restaurant on Monday evening.

The location of the pub was listed on booking.com as Pickering but it was to wonderful surprise to find it was in the village of Rosedale Abbey, 20 mins from Pickering with amazing views on the valley with easy access to the moors. Breakfast was excellent, staff attentive and a perfect place for us to have a short break.

Wonderful little hotel with brilliant welcoming staff so you feel like you're at home. Foods excellent too. Planning a return trip
Nothing we didn't like about the hotel it's just that we used it as our base for the goth festival in whitby and really its too far away for driving there a couple of times a day. But we so enjoyed our stay we'll be going back and basing our break around the hotel

Location is excellent. Our family room with single bed in it’s own space was ideal. Comfortable beds. Good shower. Lovely staff, friendly service.
Breakfast buffet was not refreshed. We arrived in the middle of service period, fried eggs were cold. Quality wasn’t great. Cups had a taste of bleach

Staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
Room was clean with very comfortable bed. Excellent shower with very hot water.
Plenty of tea and coffee in the room.
Free Wi-fi and a decent little TV - I didn't use it.
Warm room and there was always a lovely log fire in the bar.
Views from the room were amazing.
Food is excellent!
Portions are more than adequate and priced very fairly.
Breakfast is also excellent.
I would happily stay again.
Only one thing. I got the room over the kitchen so the peace ended around 7am when the loud extractor fan was switched on and the pots and pans are banged around.
Shame because it was a great room otherwise.

At first we thought it was a lot further out of town than we expected, but it was only about 15 mins from Pickering. Being set right in the moors was an absolute bonus. The views, the peace and tranquillity were just amazing. So beautiful. We have fallen in love with it. Food and service was great. Buffet breakfast as great and the Evening meals were huge, and delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend it.
Dogs being allowed in to the bar area, even when people were eating. One dog came running in when I was at the bar paying for our meals, and started jumping up on me. Next night we were moved into the breakfast area after someone came in with their dog which started barking and yelping. The staff didn't hesitate to relocate us when I asked.
