We rented this house for a family vacation, and it was perfect for that. Home is spacious, giving everyone enough privacy. The infinity pool is beautiful and was a highlight. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with every dish and tool imaginable. I would have given it 5 stars but for a few disappointments - the larger of the two ovens did not work, the ice maker needed work, the internet was quite weak, and some of the furniture was in need of refurbishment. Despite these minor glitches, we enjoyed the home and recommend it.

My family of 8- our kids and their significant others range in age from 26-16 loved their time here. Everyone had a lot of room to congregate but also had some privacy. The house is the most well equipped home I’ve ever stayed in. The outside space is perfect with beautiful views of the mountains. The neighborhood is private and not crowded. Location is great. I would def recommend.

Gathering for our Son’s weddings up in Puako. House was perfect. Had a three year old and a five yr old. Loved the pool. Exceptional service from Kathleen.

It was a beautiful property and the pool got plenty of use however the kitchen had an infestation of cockroaches, even after they came and sprayed once. There seemed to be a lot of critters - either in the walls or above the ceiling that you could hear at nights. There was evidence of rat droppings in the media room where my grandson slept but never actually saw a rat! Apart from all that, it was a gorgeous house!

Gorgeous home - great for our group of 8
The House of the Turtle is a beautiful home in the Mauna Lani resort area. We were very pleased with the main living areas of the house. The kitchen is beautiful and is fully equipped with everything you could want. The living areas into the pool area also were very comfortable. The house has a multitude of sliding doors which makes for tremendous natural light throughout.
The main bedroom was an awesome suite, and beautifully appointed. The other sleeping areas all have their own private entrances, and are very comfortable.
The entryway and courtyard is also very nicely done, and is welcoming and pleasant.
The entire house was very clean. Check in and out was well handled, and the property manager was very responsive to the few questions we had. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

Excellent. House was even better than expected. Lots of room for four couples. Well equipped kitchen. Appreciated the special goodies including fresh fruit and coffee beans. Extra special bathing and hair products provided as well. Kathleen was extremely accommodating of our needs and quick to respond to our questions.

Wonderful family spot!
We had a wonderful two weeks here! We were a party of 10, with my two small children, so the housing layout was perfect. My hubby and I were in the house with the kids (kids in media room), and the rest of the family were in the other rooms and weren't woken by toddlers. The views were amazing, the pool and hot tub temps were perfect. Had everything we needed. Second time staying in the neighborhood and the check in and rental coordination process was SO EASY, even easier than last time. Kathleen was amazing and super responsive. Overall, GREAT experience!

Exceeded Expectations
This house was perfect for our week in Hawaii! It is beautiful, spacious, and private. All of the amenities were fully functional and when minor issues arose the property manager, Kathleen, was extremely responsive and quick. We had two kiddos with us and there was space enough for them to nap away from all of the noise of the adults without a problem. The beach coin access alone is worth it if you have small kids - it’s a sheltered cove that’s shallow and very kid friendly. For four couples plus 2 kids we all felt like we had our own space and each of the ensuites worked well. I highly recommend this place.

Great home for large family
Beautiful inside and out that our large family really enjoyed! Bedrooms are separated to give privacy but the common areas where nice and open to bring everyone together. Very well furnished and stocked for a perfect Hawaiian vacation!

Mid summer visit this lovely home marred by inadequate air conditioning
House of the Turtle is a well appointed and well furnished home that is perfect for families and couples traveling together, HOWEVER, our high season stay in 95 degree July proved difficult as the AC for the master bedroom also serves two of the other primary bedrooms and proved to be not up to the task, The circuit breaker tripped repeatedly and even when the system worked the temperature rarely if ever got close to the set temperature. This was especially true in the two bedrooms other than the master, one of which was basically uninhabitable forcing one member of our party to sleep on the couch. This is not what we paid for and our request for a partial refund of our payment was met with a token response despite the fact that the owner and the property manager knew of this problem before we arrived (and did not disclose it)- in fact they have plans to install dedicated AC units for the two bedrooms that were problematic. A bit too late for us.
I would NOT stay at this home again until the AC system is fixed.

Beautiful home!
This is a beautiful and elegant home, wonderful for our family reunion (8 adults, 2 kids). Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The media room also has a sofa bed, and there is another full bathroom close to the media room. We really loved the layout of the house- large living area for everyone to gather together, but lots of privacy, also, with the 3 guest bedrooms arranged around the front courtyard. The house is very spacious, sparkling clean, and well stocked. The kitchen has 2 dishwashers, which is very convenient for large groups. The property is beautifully landscaped with many flowering plants and trees. We had a fabulous time, and look forward to returning again!

Stunning home with gorgeous views.
This home was gorgeous inside and out. The living area was large enough to accommodate all of us and was so comfortable and lovely. The outdoor areas were beautifully landscaped and the pool was gorgeous. We loved the view of the golf course as well. Everything was perfect - we could not have asked for a better property manager. Kathleen even bought groceries for us the day of our arrival. The home was not too far from the private beach club. We drove there - it was a little far for some of our family to walk, but they had paddle board and kayaks and even a restaurant. The bedrooms were all around a common courtyard and each had its own bathroom and a little garden area. We would definitely recommend Hale Honu and hope to be able to return in the near future.

The perfect getaway with superb service!!
Just returned from a stay at the Turtle House. There were 8 adults and 4 kids and we never felt cramped at all! The house is clean, well stocked and has pretty much everything you need! And if there's something you need that isn't there, the property manager Kathleen is more than willing to help you get it! They'll even stock up the fridge for you before you arrive. Amazing hospitality and service from Kathleen and her husband and son! They even helped us find a private chef for a special meal and it was truly so so delicious!!! We all enjoyed our stay there and will definitely stay there again when we return.

Excellent Home with everything you need.
The home was as advertised and reviewed, excellent. Our group of 9 from 4 year olds to senior adults were all impressed with the location and the amenities in the home. The separate rooms with baths gave everyone their needed privacy, yet the common area were superb for meals and having fun.

The worst part of the whole trip was leaving
The grounds were immaculate. The house is perfect for any large group. The kitchen, BBQ, pool, hot tub, showers, bedrooms, living room, dining room all perfect. This was the perfect way to start the new year. Vincent was very prompt in answer any questions over email and Kathy was always available on the phone when we arrived.

Amazing Property - Better Than Advertised!
My wife and I just returned from this incredible property, and it was absolutely perfect! We actually got married while there - we had the ceremony in front of the infinity pool, and was very memorable, with a beautiful backdrop. We had 10 people total at our wedding, and the setup of the home is perfect, as most bedrooms have their own private entrance as well as private bathroom. Kathleen is the property manager; she took care of every single detail, and was accessible the entire time via text and phone. I'd highly recommend his property -- it exceeded all expectations!

Epic Stay at House of Turtle
What a stay. We visited the Kohala Coast for my father's 70th birthday. House of Turtle was perfect for our 3 families (10 total). The house itself feels like you just signed an NBA contract...floor to ceiling windows that open to the Hawaiian breeze and infinity pool. We spent most nights BBQ'ing and just enjoying the beauty. Nearby golf courses at Mauna Lani were equally spectacular. Definitely play both courses (North and South). Grocery store just down the street for any/all provisions. Make House of Turtle your next family vacation!

Beautiful House of the Turtle
We attend a professional conference every January in Hawaii and typically stay in a house or condo where people of diverse ages and interests can share and enjoy space together. This year 2016 we had a group of 10 friends and family members at the House of the Turtle. This was the best property including excellent amenities, location, and hospitality of the manager and host. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Mauna Lani Home
We rented this home for a group vacation with 4 couples. The reason we chose this house was because it had four separate bedroom suites each with a private bathroom. The extra 3 bedrooms were accessed through the front courtyard allowing for privacy. The house itself was spectacular. The front courtyard had a lovely Honu fountain. The main part of the house had a large living area, fully stocked kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, a TV/Movie room, the master bedroom suite, and laundry. We spent most of our time lounging by the disappearing edge pool that had a lovely view of the Kohala mountains. All furnishings were elegant but very comfortable. The property manager met us at the house upon our arrival and was easily accessible throughout the stay. One bonus was the mid-week cleaning and linen change, which is included in the rental price. Usually this is offered as an add-on charge. Also by renting this house, you get discounted rates at the Mauna Lani golf courses. This is the best house I have rented in Hawaii and I would definitely rent this house again.

Perfect for large family vacation
Our family spent a week at the house, total of 6 adults, 3 tweens, and a 21 month old. Everything went smoothly and communication with both owner (Pat) and manager (Kathleen) was easy and Kathleen was very helpful (she recommended a chef for a celebration dinner at the house and both dinner and fire dancer were excellent). We also appreciated her prestocking the house with basic groceries (although Foodland Market is 5 minutes away at the Shops at Mauna Lani and a bigger grocery store is 15 minutes away in Waikoloa Village; we never made it to Costco 40 minutes away) and we appreciated the nice welcome basket and fruit on arrival. The house set up, as mentioned in a prior posting, is nice for a group since 3 of the bedrooms are off the central courtyard and away from the main part of the house so there is privacy for those who prefer to sleep in. The house felt very private and we never saw or heard neighbors, but it feels large and open and spacious. Beds were very comfortable and the house is nicely appointed; we used the boogie boards and beach umbrellas and a few pool toys, but didn't see the snorkeling gear. Activity-wise, numerous beaches nearby including the private Mauna Lani one (nice snorkeling and less crowded than Kahalu'u beach, and calm so good for little ones)--our favorites were Hapuna and A'Bay. Shopping close and nice at Queen's and King's Markets (10 minutes). Great shave ice at cart 15 minutes north just past turn off for Waimea (Original Big Island Shave Ice). Sadly, the malasada truck in Waimea (30 min) was closed when we went through. We favored the pool in the afternoons/evenings when there was some nice shade on the patio. Overall, a great house and a great vacation.

Vacation dream house
Ditto to everything wonderful already said about the house. Easy payment schedule and checkout process ever experienced. 2 weeks prior to arrival, the concierge (Kathleen) emails more information about access/directions to house. The house has bikes, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, umbrellas and beach chairs. Foodland market, Snorkel Bob, and good restaurants at Mauna Lani shopping center just 1/4 mile away. Our teens took scuba lessons with Kohala Divers so easy 15 minute drive. Try Waimea town (30mins away) farmer's markets and restaurants. We really enjoyed staying at the house. Both Pat and Kathleen are responsive and wonderful.

Exceptional Vacation Home
We spent spring break at House of the Turtle with another family, and were thrilled with the accommodations. The house is incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated, very well appointed and conveniently situated to beaches and other resorts. The ability to slide open the walls in the front of house adjoining the pool and in the kitchen opening to the patio table was a huge plus. The pool and spa are large and set to the perfect temperature. The House Manager Kathleen could not have been more helpful. The bedrooms are all very private. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Nice plus to have beach chairs and boogie boards at our disposal.
