About this house rental
Waterfront! CShore Beach Home, Tranquility by the Sea, is on the Water, the NC Sound across from the Beach. Affectionately called The Wedding Cake House! A Beautiful family home, 3200 sq ft large, and it’s only a few steps to reach the water, directly on the NC intracoastal waterway, Bogue Sound, and a short walk across the street from the white, powder sands of Emerald Isle NC beach, on the Atlantic Ocean. It’s about an hours drive to Ellis Airport OAJ, in Jacksonville NC or EWN Carolina Coastal Regional Airport in New Bern, NC. There are four lovely bedrooms, master bedroom downstairs on the main level, two and a half bathrooms and an outside shower, with large closets, laundry room, storage and pantry spaces. A Charcoal grill is available, beach supplies room, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, bicycles, plus two picnic tables,, flat screen tv, many games and lots of reading materials for all ages. The Third story cupola enjoys a complete wrap around porch with awe inspiring sound and ocean views and a comfy daybed. This is a birders haven as the pier is on pilings and is a sanctuary for an abundant variety of sea loving feathered friends, especially pelicans. The Pier is not repaired or able to be walked on. The Main level has a complete, on all 4 sides of the house, wrap around porch and amazing sunsets and sunrises with comfortable captains chairs, rocking chairs and a picnic table facing the Sea. The Kitchen boasts a cozy breakfast nook with seating for four plus 6 bar stool seating around the central island counter. There are two Picnic tables and charcoal grill onsite. One picnic table is on the porch and one is on the ground level beside the garage. A bicycle is available and it will probably need to have air pumped in the tires if they have deflated. The Bicycle tire pump is in the storage room with the bike, beach toys, chairs and beach umbrellas. The Laundry room is available on the ground level by the carport. Four Lovely bedrooms, with the Master Bedroom and bath is downstairs on the main level. There are ample living areas which invite rest, refreshment, recuperation, fellowship, study, writing, painting and reflection. Emerald Isle Sea Turtle nesting and watching is another favorite beach activity. Walking, jogging, sunbathing and fishing on the beach, and at the sound, a water sports facility is a short jaunt away. There is a sidewalk that runs to Indian Beach and all the way into the town of Emerald Isle. The house is Close to both Atlantic Beach and the Town of Emerald Isle. We have a Well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The house is on the sound side with direct access, a few steps from the house to the Sound for bird, fish jumping and dolphin viewing. To access the beach is a short walk across the street, to the right is the public beach access at the 3rd Street Park Public Access with with wheelchair ramp, picnic table and car parking. Fun time on the beach. Great location on the sound with beautiful sunsets. Perfect time away.

Mary answered all the questions I had promptly. There was plenty of towels for us to use. It was an easy walk to the beach not too far. Would definitely recommend.

Our first time to Emerald Isle and we love our stay here! It was perfect for our family vacation. Plenty of room and only a short walk to the beach. We sat on the back porch every night and watched the beautiful sunset. We would definitely come back. The only con was there are tons of sand spurs so make sure you have on shoes while you’re outside.

Perfectly located in the middle of the isle with easy access to the beach just 2 blocks away. The house has plenty of sleep space. I chose what I call the lighthouse room on the top floor with great views of the sound and ocean. The house is a little dated and could use some repairs with the loose deck railing and rusted spigots but overall, a comfortable stay. Thank you for making it available for my family's weekend getaway!

House was in a great location on waterway and just a few minutes from a couple of beach accesses. Beds were comfortable and
it was plus to have linens provided! Great rental for the $$!

Family Vacation
It was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet and calm place to stay and relax with the family. It’s a bit of an older home but it had everything we needed. The views as the sun was going down were amazing!

Fantastic Location
Location, location, location! Beautiful views of the sound and short walk across the street to the beach. Very clean! Basic essentials on property- towels, linens, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap. Nice not to have to pack/ buy those things. 15 minutes to most everything- restaurants, shops, grocery store, etc. Nice beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, sand toys in storage room. Not having a useable Pier was disappointing, but my husband made it work and was able to fish/crab anyway.
Kitchenware could be replaced as it was dated and just a basic cable tv package would be a nice upgrade. No Wi-Fi. So if that is must, this place won’t do unless you have a hotspot.
We replaced evening TV watching (only a few channels) with watching the sunset instead which was beautiful and then played card games with the kids. May want to bring some extra games along, just a few under the TV. All in all, a great stay and has everything thing you need!
PS: Also, highly recommend the banana boat ride at Island Water Sports —a 5 minute walk, 1 minute drive away! Laughs the entire ride!!

Awesome vacation
House was in the perfect spot, close to beach. Amazing views of sunrise and sunset.

Pier had disappeared
House was fairly clean. Bedding was wonderful. Many ceiling lights were out. Exhaust fan in 2nd floor bath didn't work.
Looked great but most furniture was very very old and at end of useful life.
VRBO listing said enjoy wildlife viewing from pier. There is no pier. This was not due to a recent storm event. We would have liked to have been able to put in kayaks as planned. Almost every house up and down coast has a pier. Pictures showed a pier at this house. This house only has collapsed pilings where a pier might have been years ago.
Also cable tv was not provided as advertised. It was only antenna tv. Mostly 1960's old tv series shows like Bonanza and Hawaii 50. Was told internet was via hot spot from cell phone. We had AT&T, Verizon and t mobile phones and no joy.
This house needs to be brought up to date from 1980's.

Wonderful stay!
We were there for 10 days and the house was great! It had plenty of space and absolutely everything that we needed. The location was perfect. The view from the house, of the inter-coastal, was so pretty. The ocean was just 3 minutes away. We loved the board games :-) We couldn't have had a better time.

Surrounded with Views!
Going on vacation during a Pandemic with an active hurricane watch for the area could have ended badly but my friends and I are adventurous and Mary was so communicative putting us at ease so we headed to this delightful property despite the possibility that we might have to evacuate part way through the week. Mary generously allowed us to check in early and stayed in touch throughout the week whenever I had questions. When we noticed that the air conditioning downstairs wasn't very cold it was fixed after one quick phone call. Someone came right over right away. We lost power in the hurricane but it was back on within a few hours. We loved the decks for watching sunsets, birds, jumping fish and even stormy weather! There was plenty of outdoor deck furniture including a table with benches and lots of rocking chairs. One guy caught some shrimp in the Sound with a net and cooked them up for us! This place would be terrific for anyone who loves to fish! Bring water shoes if you want to swim in the sound as it is rocky. It was a short walk across the street to reach a beautiful, uncrowded beach. There is a place right down the street to rent Kayaks, Paddle boards etc. The beds were comfortable, the house was very clean, the kitchen was well equip with everything from coffee filters, foil and paper products to cooking utensils, bowls, plates, mugs and pots etc. We managed with four people bringing in groceries to make it work with everyone's special diets. There are many restaurants within a short drive to choose from and we did eat out for most dinners. The enclosed outdoor shower was terrific when we came back from the beach, nice hot water! I have stayed at many rental homes and this one gets an A+ for views, nature, comfort and outdoor space!

Great Location on the sound with easy access to beach across the street.
The house was clean, comfy beds, with easy access to the beach across the street. We met a fantastic neighbor, Steve, who was extremely helpful. There were many positives about the house but also a some negatives. The house is marketed to sleep 8-10 people however there is no where for a family larger than 4 to eat a meal. The kitchen table seats 4, there are counter stools but no overhang to sit at the counter. There is a huge, beautiful covered deck facing the water that would be perfect for a table/chairs set. We traveled 12+ hours to get there so asked if they provided beach chairs, there were only 3 cheap, functional chairs; No Grilling utensils; Ice maker didn't work;1 garbage can, No recycling, No wine glasses, No Internet. Overall we had a great time because we had other family members that rented 4 other houses in the immediate area. In my opinion, the things I mentioned as negatives should be standard in a beach rental.

Very cozy and relaxing.
We truly enjoyed our stay. The home was very clean and very comfortable. We loved the 3rd floor perch where we could see both the ocean and the sound. We especially enjoyed the huge back porch right overlooking the sound, where we had our morning coffee and the teens played card games.

Wonderful Stay
Loved this spot because the area was quiet and the house was close to the beach. The views from the house were wonderful and the top level and back porch were a favorite hang out spot for my family. The accommodations of the house were great. Comfy beds, enough extra linens and towels when needed. Be cautious of the area leading to the sound. There are some plants that had thorny balls, kind of like small briars, so I'd watch out for those when walking around the area. Overall, the place is great and the owners were very prompt with communication.

Wonderfully charming and great for the price!
Perfect location!! The views were stunning!! There were some minor cosmetic things that needed attention - and a TON of poison ivy in the yard/bushes. But overall the house was wonderful. The beds were amazingly comfy. It was very well stocked and the owner responded to our questions very quickly! I definitely recommend this house for your family vacation!

wedding cake beach house
The house location on the sound and across the street from the beach was perfect. Everyone was thrilled with the views. The house itself is in need of repairs but it didn't distract from our enjoyment. I would suggest removing the junk from many of the cupboards so that the renters have space to place their food. We were blessed with perfect weather which greatly added to our enjoyment.

Cozy house!
We enjoyed the size and location of the house! A few things noted and would make the house even better is if the pier was fixed as well as we observed the electricity on the very top floor was not working!! Great for the price!!

Good Bargain Rental
Overall enjoyed our stay at the CShore rental. The interior was well laid out and maintained, with plenty of linens and dishes. The wrap around deck was a big plus, and the upstairs deck view was very nice. Atlantic beach access was very close, just a short walk across the street. The property exterior has not been well maintained, and the deck could certainly use some work. Overall though it was a good value for a family style stay. The area is family friendly.

Relaxing, great views, wonderful stay!
We stayed at Cshore with our 2 adult children and their spouses. The house had plenty of room and included interesting spaces for us to each get off to ourselves or gather together. We enjoyed the peaceful back porch for breakfasts and the great views of both the Sound and the Ocean from the cupola and upper deck. We brought several games, but found there were several in the house already. The huge flat-screen TV was an unexpected treat! The house was very clean, the kitchen was well-supplied, there were plenty of towels and linens, and we even found some beach chairs we could take to the beach just a short distance away. In early June there weren't many people on the beach, and we spent some time each day swimming and beach coming (lots of pretty shells!). The outdoor shower was a big plus - clean and plenty of hot water. It was also great being so close to the bike path as we were able to rent bikes and ride for about 17 miles one day! There were a few very small issues which didn't bother our stay but which I notified the owner about. I'm sure Mary will take care of them as she was very responsive both before and during our stay. Everyone in the family said this is the best vrbo property I have ever rented! We highly recommend it!

Worked well for our stay
Some aspects were not ideal. The shower for rinsing off from the beach was not working right, but there was a spigot that we used. As mentioned before by other reviews, the dining arrangement is not as comfortable as most places we have rented. Otherwise the house served well as a base for enjoying the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. The wrap around porch was especially nice on the rainy days. There were more than adequate linens, the kitchen was functional, and there were no safety or health issues. Not luxurious but functional would be my summary.

Beautiful sunrise and sunset views!
We loved staying at CShore Beach Home. The views from the wrap around decks are incredible and you can see both amazing sunrises and sunsets from the back deck. We spent our mornings drinking coffee and reading on the "crows nest deck" on the third floor. It was an easy walk to the beach just by crossing the street and we spent most of our time there. The house was very clean and comfortable and the kitchen adequate. The ice maker on the fridge was broken- hopefully that will be fixed soon. The beds are advertised on VRBO as being queens, but my husband was sure they were only doubles. They did seem smaller than a queen, so that was our only negative. Will definitely return to this house- loved the sound view so much!

Lovely setting, but no dock to the sound
We had a great visit to this property. The setting is lovely - having the wide expanse of the large deck overlooking the sound was excellent! The bedrooms were nice sized and we found everything we needed. The picture of the backside of the property is a bit deceiving as there is no functional dock to this house (it looks like there is), which is a shame, and would really would have added value to our stay. The kitchen is tiny for 10--the "seats 10" is a bit of an exaggeration as 6 of those are bar stools placed in front of a peninsula that is not meant for eating. The kitchen amenities while functional were in a bit of disarray. Otherwise, a great value and a great location!

Beautiful home with lots of amenities, great for families.
Wonderful location with bay on home property and ocean across the street. Home was impeccably clean and comfy. Would like to have been able to use the dock. Neighbors were friendly and quiet. We are looking forward to returning again. We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and fun vacation.

Fun Family Get-Together
Overall the stay was nice. There are a few things around the house that could use some repairs due to age, and the dock was unusable (though we knew this going in from the pictures). However, none of the things really affected the enjoyment of our stay. Cold AC throughout the house, and great views from the 3rd story and the back deck. Great home!

Great place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay. Six days five nights. Easy access to the beach by foot or car. All kinds of places to spend exploring close by. We had ages 4 to 78 and all of us had a great time.
