Great area, beautiful view over the river with amazing sunrises.
Breakfast and dinners were also great.
Swimming pool is amazing for the whole family with great fun.
Finally the wine form their vineyard is really good!
I would say the pillows could be better quality. ALso I am not a big fan of rooms with doors connecting two bedrooms. Noise from the other side.

Amazing view, fresh air, very good wine and portvein, fantastic tasting experience, good octopus on dinner :)

Beautiful view, very helpful team, food tasty and rooms very clean. We had excellent time, highly recomended

Likely the best view in the area where two rivers meet, there are various sitting areas throughout the property to enjoy. The gardens are beautiful. Good restaurant with a patio area. Rooms are fantastic.
Nothing, because it is high up you have to be able to manage stairs.
3.5
Location overlooking the Douro River
Stunning view from our room
Pool area
No room service- no coffee machine- no kettle- no hair conditioner…
Food buffet was mediocre ( specially at dinner time)

the water in the pool was cold

The view is really amazing! Swimming pool as well. Personal in the hotel is good.
Unfortunately, there are no hairdryer, kettle with tea bags, hair conditioner and body lotion in the room - it would be very nice to have.

Wonderful service from friendly but professional and respectful staff. Although it is part of a large hotel chain, the staff made it feel very welcoming and personalized.
Amazing views of the area. Good food and wine. Plenty to do. Good size rooms, well set out.
The beds had plastic mattress covers which made sleeping very hot and uncomfortable. We should have removed them.
3.5
The location and beautiful nature. The wine tasting
Rooms very basic. Neat and clean but no coffee or bar fridge. No face cloth.

The location is absolutely beautiful. The room was clean, nice and spacious. The wine tasting they offer is a must! we got a tour of the winery and a summary of their history. The pool area is nice and big, it’s perfect for lounging.
The food. The dinner buffet was a let down, would not recommend. The food by the pool wasnt good either.

Lack of maintenance for such a recent hotel.
More quality on food and services expected

great location , very helpful staff .
no separate bar ? only one restaurant . no tissues , iron , coffee machine or kettle , body lotion and hair conditioner . only one key provided. water supplied first night but not replaced , very poor in a decent hotel .
4.5
The splendid view all over the hotel.
Too much stairs. Very difficult to handle the luggage.
The dinner buffet is poor.
3.0
location and views are excellent
the beds are terrible - no way this is 4 star with these cheap mattresses
3.5
location was great - quiet and definitely on the more picturesque half of the Douro Valley
views from our balcony were amazing
staff were excellent
clean rooms, very comfortable beds
food was really disappointing...
the MANY steps were a hard climb at the end of a long day!

The view was beautiful. We booked a suite with a balcony. This is the only good thing about our stay.
The staff - The property is beautiful. The rooms are spread out and stairs are involved in getting to your room. We had to bring our luggage up two different sets of stairs. They do not ask if you want any assistance. We are in our 60's and can physically do it. My issue was that we encountered two young men when we arrived who were staff and one when we left who passed us on the stairs and did not even offer to help us. It really showed the environment of the hotel and the staff. We did not expect it but it would have been nice. My husband even helped another couple who were older than us with their luggage.
We went to the Winery on the property and walked around. There were two staffers there who were helping others. We sat down and after about 15 minutes of not even being addressed we left. We planned on buying some wine but that did not happen.
Upon check out - I told the woman, who had also checked us in, about our dinner experience. Her only response was, "did you ask for something else?" No apology. She was rude to another man who was also checking out.
Restaurant - We booked a half board which included dinner. We went to dinner at our reservation time and quickly discovered that they were only offering two entrees that evening- octopus and veal. We do not eat either. How can a 4 star hotel, that is so isolated only offer two extreme entrees. We asked the waitress and she asked, are you vegetarian and then said I can ask the chef. She came back and said he could offer us chicken curry. We dont like curry but at that point it was the best choice. When she delivered the meal we could tell that we would not eat it. The sauce was watery and tasted bad. So, we had a small cup of pumpkin soup and a serving of white rice for dinner that we had paid good money for.
The facilities - we realize it was October but all the other facilities were shut down and closed. You could not sit on the terraces since the furniture was removed. So...
