Great virew over the river. Very comfortable, very Nice staff
The roads to the Quinta are small and twistes

Nice Quinta, high on the slopes of the Douro. Fabulous view and fabulous breakfast. Friendly caretaker.
Rather quiet at this time of the year (late spring). The Quinta did not offer any food provisions except the breakfast. Far away from any decent (and/or affordable) restaurants or even food stores.

There is best possible view, but you have to work hard to drive up and down on the narrow roads...Breakfast is great, staf is great and rooms are all with a million dollar view...Never been disappointed ...
Just a long drive on the narrow roads...but worth the view

The view was wonderful
We arrived after a daunting trip over narrow difficult roads only to find the cook does not work Sunday. The nearest restuarant which was reccomended qas an hour an a half away. After listeing to our concerns they served us a cold plate and charged us $30 Euros.which did include wine. The coffee at the breakfast was good bur the rest of the meal was the poorest we gave had in. Portugal. I have never written a negative review in all of my travels but this experience warrented such

Beautiful view of the Douro Valley and river in the common area.
The very rude and disrespectful manager. Housekeeping bad. Beds not made. Trash not removed. We were not provided with ample amenities for three adults, e.g. water, cups, glasses. Bulbs were out or missing. Beds not comfortable -- very squeaky. Mattresses either too hard, or worn out with no support. Although view good, driving up quite treacherous.

- amazing view on the river and vineyards, not only from the pool!
- very helpful staff
- great wines and food (just be careful, you need to reserve the dinner day before and there is not many possibilities around to go instead)
- nothing

We had an amazing time at Quinta da Veiga.
The place is very beautiful, with an amazing pool with incredible views over Douro river, and very well decorated with items from the house owner travels to Asia.
Francisco was an amazing host, always available to support us with any of our needs, and provided us a great home-cooked meal by the place.

the fiew
we had to wait 28 minutes till the reception man came to give us the keys.
we forwarded the recommendations of a great dinner gift unfortunately the meal was even less than the evarage, the first course was very poor with a bread that I would leave the birds, which in the morning after was similar.
the most disappointing point was the cost of the meal which forced us to pay 24 Euro for a wine that thhey offered us and we did not want to have so they even removed the wine glasses from the table.
any kind of poilt request from us not charge us was rejected with a smile on his face - as saying us you are not the first and not the last.

As expected, the location was worth the effort of walking up the hill from the station through a vineyard (which was an experience in itself).
Could do with a bell at reception or something similar to alert the one member of staff that we needed to check in and when I wanted to check out.

No matter what, a great place - Awesome building and location, with an astonishing view on the Douro Valley. Lovely interiors with lots of antique furniture. Definitely a place plenty of history
The staff was willing to help yet not much professional

Beautiful room with a fabulous view over the vineyards & the river. Great bathroom, lovely antique furniture in our room & in the reception & dining room & mingling/lounge room area. Wifi in our room was fast enough for work, & it a nice lounge to sit down. Francisco was very helpful & really made us feel welcome. Also, we could park safely on the premises.
The room could have had more pillows. The pool needed a clean, but really it was too cold to swim anyway. We discovered that all the vineyard-stays charge an exorbitant amount for the in-house dinner & this place was not as bad as some other places, still the meal was not good value for money compared to other areas in Portugal but at least we di not have to drive at night on the very windy roads after dinner, as they are very liberal with the wine! 😂 So at least we got to try the range of their wines, which were very good.

They took the advantage of a last minute change to over-charge for a standard room. My original booking appointment was of around 130EUR for a room for a single person and they ended up charging 200EUR for that room (additional 70EUR charged)

Amazing Views!
The wines from the estate were excellent and abundant.
Although the views from the hotel are amazing it is very isolated and the narrow, climbing, bendy road is actually quite dangerous.
Because of the location, dinner in Pinao is really out of the question and so one is obliged to have the set, no choice menu at 35 euros a head.

We stayed for 6 nights in August. The views are stunning. Francisco was a perfect host - thank you!

Amazing location with a stunning river view, great facilities. The walk along the vineyards is marvelous.
Staff could have been a bit more helpful.
4.5
The staff was incredible and always helpful. For example, we arrived at the property much later than we expected (it was raining a lot and a lot of traffic) and even though the dinner has to be booked early, they managed to get us an alternative so we wouldn't go to bed starving.
Also, we always felt like we were at home.

We would not recommend to go here...
The actual house looks not as nice as on the pictures; the swimming pool is dirty and the rooms are overpriced. Furthermore the staff is very unfriendly (and quite) therefore the ambiance is disappointing. The owner didn’t know anything about the wines that he is serving and the wine does not taste good; and we woke up with terrible headache (because of the bad wine?). We stayed in other quintas before (for example quinta cimeira which was way better).
4.5
Beautiful location, great service, excellent food.
