About this house rental
Now back on VRBO, this lovely art-filled southern Columbia county home combines rustic charm (“log cabin”) with modern style and a spacious 2300 SF interior with a large deck and great mountain view (partially obscured by trees in summer). Located on a quiet (except for the birds, frogs and crickets) dead end road on 3.5 acres of nature, yet near Rhinebeck, Tívoli, Bard College and Hudson with so much to explore.
And it’s only 2 hours from Manhattan!
The house is on a dead end street with only two other houses, fairly spread out. It would be extremely quiet if it weren't for the birds, the frogs and the crickets. It's a couple of miles east of the Hudson river.
Germantown has just a few businesses - two good restaurants and a casual outdoor dining place, a country market with regular and specialty food items and a deli, a wine/liquor store, a flower shop and a couple of gas stations. There are also a couple of antique and lovely thing shops. There are more restaurant choices 10 minutes away in Tivoli.
Bard music festival and other performing arts events nearby in the summer. Apple picking in the fall. Berry picking in spring and summer. Historic Kingston. Mansion tours. Dutchess fair grounds. Hiking and biking. Many restaurants, tasting at breweries and distilleries. 40 min to Tanglewood.
This is my weekend house, but I am not always there so I am renting it out to help make ends meet. It is much nicer in terms of furnishings, decor and kitchen and bath amenities than most rentals. You will find it very comfortable!
Dog friendly property - please do not rent if you are allergic.

The house was roomy, with kitchen tools & some spices & was on a lovely valley off the road. We all (my brother, s-i-l & I) were very pleased with the set-up.

We were 3 adults and two animals, My brother and wife were visiting from Wisconsin and I wanted to show them more than the city. It was the perfect location located between Rhinebeck and Hudson with all the benefits between. The house had a lot of beautiful art a beautiful view and was well appointed and comfortable with many places in the house to hang out and relax. The kitchen was well set up with all the equipment you could need to make great meals.

We had such a wonderful weekend. The house had everything you could want. Julie was great to deal with and couldn’t have been more helpful. So much space!! And very very clean! Can’t wait to go back.

We had a wonderful stay here and the house is fantastic. It has anything you need, much more than other rentals I have been to. The deck and screened in porch face a really nice Mountain View, which was especially beautiful in fall colors. The master bathroom is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re in a mountain resort. The house was clean and comfortable and also felt homey.
There isn’t much in close proximity to the house but there is plenty to do if you are willing to drive at least half an hour.

Julie’s home is comfortable, well stocked, and very private. The house has a large backyard that abuts a small marsh and the forest beyond. It was beautiful, even during a thunderstorm. The deck has a covered and screened dining area, which is perfect for a warm summer night. This the perfect place to stay for access to the surrounding areas, including Bard, Hudson, and Great Barrington. We made several day trips. Thanks, Julie, for being communicative and kind!

This house is large and beautiful in a wonderful, private setting. The enclosed sun room and separate screened-in gazebo (with large dining table) allow unobstructed views of the woods and Catskill Mountains. The house is clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook just about anything. The location is close to many attractions in the Hudson Valley. Julie is an amazing host. She responds quickly to questions, but is never intrusive. I would recommended this house without hesitation.

The house was lovely and very clean. Had everything you need because the owner lives there part-time. All bathrooms and bedrooms up to date and pretty. Very quiet area for a peaceful stay. The sitting area out on the deck with screening and a large table was a wonderful place to read and eat. Not a party house.
Julie, the owner, met us at the house when we checked in and showed us everything we needed to know and was very responsive.
There is not much to Germantown, but the house is close to Olana and many other area attractions. One thing not to miss in Germantown is the restaurant Gaskins. From the bartenders to our waitress - everyone was friendly without being obsequious. The food was absolutely fabulous. They brought us 2 orders of the fried corn by mistake and we were so glad they did! It is not what you think when you see "fried." Absolutely the best corn on the cob I have ever had.
