We stayed at Scouts Retreat during the artic blizzard! The hosts were very, very accommodating. They stocked the firewood and decorated the house for Christmas which was such a nice touch. The power stayed on, fireplace roaring and a good time was had by all. The kitchen is very well appointed and the whole house worked fabulously with our adult group. We did hike despite the ice and hit a few restaurants in Highlands which was only 1 mile away (one closed because of no water). We hope to return soon with or without the artic blast.

I travel to Highlands/Cashiers area yearly in June & have rented several places looking for just the right place. This is it! This home is warm & inviting, decorated with antiques, nice lamps, good art, & comfortable beds. The kitchen is well-appointed with all the right equipment to cook a meal. And by the way, all is very clean!
The owner was very quick to respond when I reached out & was very helpful! Downtown Highlands is about a mile away. This turned out to be great for us as we tend to go into town everyday. I can’t wait to stay again!

My family rented this home during the Christmas holidays and it was wonderful. My husband and I are slightly homeless due to a current renovation and we needed a place to celebrate Christmas with my grown-ish children. This home was perfect.
It was conveniently located close to downtown Highlands, lots of places to take hikes nearby, and the home itself was well appointed and provided us with everything that we needed.
I would highly recommend this rental to others.

Photos don’t do this property justice - the grounds and interior are elegantly styled and maintained. This was the perfect space for our family getaway. The owners of this property have designed a space that is both comfortable and luxurious; it can only be ascribed to years of making great memories with family in this location. Thank you for sharing your space with us!

I almost hesitate writing a good review as I want to keep this gem a secret for future visits 🙂. Our family recently stayed here for our fall break and loved the comfortable, charming cabin. Everything was taken care of for us from supplies for a perfect fire to the comfiest or beds. It is very convenient to town yet secluded and tucked away up in a mountain neighborhood. My kids loved exploring the outdoor gardens. We will definitely be back!

We loved our stay at this traditional Highlands cottage, with the beautiful decor, well equipped kitchen, and comfy beds. Yard and screened porch were beautiful, and location perfect for doing short hikes and walks even down to Highlands Biological Station and Nature Center. Quick ride to town or Horse Cove Road to get to the Chatooga. Photos do not cabin, or it’s surrounding property, justice. It was such a great summer escape from the heat of Charleston!
