About this house rental
Nestled among the treetops in the Village of Cheshire in Black Mountain, Tranquility Treehouse has the perfect blend of privacy, convenience, and luxury. The Treehouse is designed for single-family or two couples, its three-story layout affording just the right blend of privacy and togetherness. The huge master bedroom and bath occupy the entire top floor, and a large second bedroom with a full bath fills the bottom. The living room, kitchen, and half bath are on the main floor, providing the perfect buffer between public and private. The house features two large covered patios and two covered Juliet balconies (each facing a different direction), perfect for stepping outside for a breath of fresh air while watching the sun rise and set over the stunning mountain peaks. The master bedroom features a custom hand-made king-sized bed with a luxurious memory foam mattress, under a stunning vaulted wood ceiling.
The master bath has an antique claw foot tub, a separate shower, and two sinks. The second bedroom, almost as large as the master, features a queen memory foam mattress along with a cleverly designed queen-sized Murphy bed, allowing the Treehouse to comfortably sleep six adults. The second bedroom also features a large, covered patio affording views of the trees in summer and other treehouses in the distance in winter. (This patio is the owner's favorite spot). Both bedrooms have desks and chairs for those times when work beckons. The living room features a cozy wood-burning fireplace (Dura flame logs only! These can be purchased at local grocery or convenience stores), high-end leather seating, and a 60-inch HDTV with cable and an Apple TV so you can connect to Netflix and all your favorite on-demand programming.
And, of course, you will always have blazingly fast WiFi in every part of the Treehouse. All areas of the Treehouse, including the balconies, are also wired to a Bluetooth-enabled audio system with individual in-room volume control so you can play your favorite songs from your phone. The kitchen is generously equipped with high-end appliances and kitchenware ready for you to cook a delicious feast. The dining room features a custom hand-crafted table with seating for six adults. From the Treehouse you can walk to the Cheshire Village Shops for lunch, take a five-minute trip to the beautiful historic town of Black Mountain for superb food and drink, or be in Asheville, the best small city in America, for a night on the town in about fifteen. The Treehouse is fifteen minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, twenty to Biltmore, and thirty to Lake Lure.
Please Note: Towels and linens are included. Up to two dogs of any size are welcome at Tranquility Treehouse during your stay for an extra fee. Due to the owner's allergies, regretfully no cats are allowed. The gas logs fireplace in the lower-level Queen bedroom is NOT usable.

Terrific house in a charming neighborhood. The property was peaceful and check in was perfect.

Delightful accommodation. Would just caution that there are a couple of steep staircases making it harder for seniors to navigate.

Perfect property for our time in black mountain

I loved the location, the beautiful views from the windows & porch’s, & the nearby trails. I slept well in the king sized master bed & felt at home during my stay.

The house was wonderful from the location to the cleanliness and the stocking of necessary supplies. This little village is pristine and very accommodating to visitors. We loved the Japanese restaurant at the village entrance. Our only issue during our stay was a "maintenance" issue with the noises from the upstairs air vents, which was submitted for a "maintenance" call to be remedied in the near future.

Cozy home in a great neighborhood with hiking and parks nearby. Large main bedroom was great as well as being able to have guests downstairs so everyone had privacy.

My husband and I loved this home! It was immaculate, beautifully furnished and the location was wonderful! We will return if we are able. Our favorite VRBO so far. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Our family very much enjoyed our stay. Such a cool house and if we're in the area again we would definitely book again.

Home was just as described in listing. It was a beautiful space in a very peaceful and tranquil community. We had two adults, two children and our dog and it pleased everyone. Within walking distance to the dog-friendly restaurants and the community even had a playground for the kids. A true gem!

Beautiful property in an ideal location with a secluded feel, yet within close proximity to Black Mountain.
My husband and I stayed in the queen room downstairs, which was very comfy. It was very cool for May (in the 40s) on the first night of our stay and we really wanted to use the gas fireplace to warm up the room, but unfortunately there were no operating directions on display. (surprisingly, since there were placards with info in several other spots around the house) The team at Greybeard Rentals helped us figure it out by phone the next morning, so we were able to use it on night #2, and let me tell you, that fireplace really puts out the heat! 😊
Just FYI (since it isn’t disclosed in the listing details), neither bedroom has a door, and there are 3 steps down from the downstairs hallway to the queen bedroom. So if you get up to use the bathroom at night, be careful returning to the bedroom - my husband missed the last step down in the dark and almost fell. (a nightlight in the bathroom would be helpful)
The kitchen was well equipped except for lacking wine glasses (4 champagne flutes were provided but weren’t suitable for the red wine we had brought along). Thankfully, the rental agency came to our aid once again with a box of 6 wine glasses the following day. They were also very helpful prior to our trip answering questions and suggesting some good new restaurants to try during our stay. All in all, a lovely place we hope to visit again.

Enjoyed the beauty and peace of the Village of Cheshire. Hiked the Greybeard Trail with our lab and visited Asheville galleries. The neighborhood has much to offer and the home (balcony!) is perfect.

We spent a week at Tranquility Treehouse and were comfortable from the minute we walked in the door. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and has a remarkably well appointed kitchen. The house was spotless when we arrived (we have an immunocompromised member of our family and have very high standards in this area). The neighborhood was wonderfully peaceful and picturesque, making it great for walking and spending time outside.
The management company (Greybeard) was great to work with, provided all the information we needed, and responded to all communication quickly.
We can't wait to return!

The property was just as described. We had an issue with the pipes due to the extremely cold weather but the rental company was able to move us until the pipes were working again and we could resume our stay. Very relaxing getaway!

The house was in a beautiful neighborhood. We were disappointed that the overall cleanliness of the house was fair. We could not use the dressers because they were dusty and not clean.
Bedding and towels were clean.
Needed a good cleaning.

We very much enjoyed our stay in the Tranquility Treehouse over our fall break vacation. The house was perfect in size for our family of 5, plus one grandparent. Very clean, and the master suite was beautiful, with windows all around to view the wooded scenery. The little "neighborhood" the treehouse is in is so pretty, the house truly felt like it was a treehouse tucked in the woods. We enjoyed walking down to the couple of restaurants and small grocery a few times, and downtown Black Mountain was just a 5 minute car ride away, with plenty of shops and dining options. The easy 20 minute car ride to downtown Asheville was perfect for when we wanted to go into the city, see the Biltmore, etc. Plenty of hiking within driving distance also. A perfect long weekend getaway!

This is a sweet little treehouse in a wonderful location, perfect for day adventures to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beds and linens are excellent and the kitchen is well equipped. The neighborhood is charming and very peaceful. Some of the furnishings and the master bath are showing age and could be upgraded. We did not find a grill which would be a nice addition.

Perfect home for a couple’s getaway. Excellent location! Accommodations were right on point. Kitchen fully equipped, bed super comfortable and you can’t leave without a soak in the big tub! Highly recommend!

The home is in great condition and well appointed. We loved our stay! The property management company was excellent. There are many stairs which is something to consider. Beware of the shin eating footboard upstairs.

We have been coming to Black Mountain for years and this has been our favorite place to stay! We love Cheshire Village and the walking trails! We love that it only takes 3 minutes to get to town, but you feel like you are away! Tranquility Treehouse is a great place to stay for a family and very clean and comfortable. It was the best kitchen we have ever had for a rental! Thanks for a wonderful time!

This is an amazing property and location. We love Black Mountain and this house was perfect for 2 couples. Very clean, comfortable and great location. We needed to communicate with the management company a couple times and were very responsive! This place is bookmarked for future visits for us!

Had a bit of a bumpy start with confirmation and checkin information, probably due to last minute reservations and the holiday, but everything ended up fine.
The house was charming and comfortable. The bed was great - best sleep I’ve had in awhile. Nicely stocked kitchen (even though I didn’t cook) and close to lots of places to eat and things to do.
I think somebody complained about cobwebs and bugs and we saw a couple, but we were in the woods. I didn’t have any problems at all.
Bottom line - I loved this placed and would highly recommend it

We rented the property for a first time visit to Black Mountain and Asheville area during Between Christmas and the new year. The village of Cheshire where the Treehouse is located is absolutely adorable and reminds you of a Hallmark movie. The property was a bit smaller than we expected however it was big enough to comfortably fit a family of 6 and a medium size dog. The property is relatively clean, modernized, and extremely comfortable and equipped with everything you need. We all enjoyed our stay and would like to come back in a future date. One request for the location (not specific to this property) is a better way to recycle recyclables vs carting them to a rental agency in town.

This property was in a great location and had excellent furnishings and kitchen appliances. It was tidy but could have used a deep clean based on the amount of dust on shelving and under furniture. It’s a great property for a couple but not an ideal house for younger kids. The guest bedroom on the first level was probably 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the house and on a cold night we had the kids sleep in the living room instead. As mentioned in prior reviews the two bedrooms do not have doors so expect any sound to carry through the whole house if trying to get little ones to nap or working remotely. Some baby items that are often supplied in vacation homes such as a portable crib and high chair were not available unless rented through an expensive third party company. All of the dishes and drinking glasses were very nice but fragile without any kid friendly options. There was also construction on a home across the street throughout our stay with increased traffic from workers and cement trucks. Overall a nice home in a beautiful location for the right type of customers.

Let me point out the reasons why this ad is misleading. Ad: “The Treehouse is designed for a single family or two couples, its three-story layout affording just the right blend of privacy and togetherness.” Response: What they don’t tell you is that there are no doors on the bedrooms. How can you guarantee privacy when there are no doors on your bedroom? It not only is lack of privacy but it is very noisy. If you want to go to the laundry room or bathroom, you’ll disrupt the people trying to sleep (or do anything) in the bedroom. Ad: “ The house features two large covered patios and two covered Juliet balconies, each facing a different direction, perfect for watching stunning mountain sunrises and sunsets.” Response: There is no seating on any of the balconies to watch the sunrise or sunsets. The exterior of the house is so filthy and covered with cobwebs and dirt. All of the exterior lights are completely covered in filth. The deck off the lower level bedroom has filthy cushions and furniture and the decor has overgrown cobwebs all over it. Not so enjoyable to sit outside and enjoy. The ad also doesn’t tell you that NONE of the doors that go to the outside balconies/deck have screens so if you want to open they doors to let the outside air in, you’ll be inviting every creature imaginable right into your bedroom. In addition, we couldn’t open any of the windows. In the Master, there are 10 windows, only 6 screens and 2 behind the bed and can’t open. The 4 remaining have caked on dirt and a TON of cobwebs and dead bugs for your enjoyment. The same applies to the other rooms: 6 kitchen windows, only 3 screens; downstairs bedroom, 2 windows and no screens on either; LR 8 windows and all screens but couch blocks 3 Of them; Master bath - 4 windows no screens. So, if you’re as excited as we were to enjoy the outside of the “treehouse” and to listen to the rain on the tin roof, you can’t. Unless you want to be overcome by bugs, spiders, cobwebs and filth. Ad: “under a stunning vaulted wood ceiling.” Response: Sure, the ceiling is stunning if you can get past the cobwebs in every corner and the TON of dead bugs in the ceiling light fixture. Best view ever! Ad: “kitchenware ready”. Response: Yes, there’s kitchenware: with lipstick, coffee stains, cracked wine glasses and broken glass IN the coffee mug! The MBR shower door is so loud, it wakes up your spouse. And, fill the bath & hot water runs out halfway. No lights on for us!

What an absolutely darling home! It truly was a "tree house". We adored the magical village of Cheshire and it's proximity to everything we wanted to do. We loved that everyone had their own space to retreat to in this home, yet could gather around a cozy fire at night with a glass of wine, chatting about our day. Sitting on the porch listening to the rain was also quite a treat. The owners have done a lovely job creating a comfortable and well appointed place to be. We also loved that we could take walks every morning with our pup around the beautiful neighborhood. This sweet home made us fall in love with the village, and has inspired us to look for our own slice of heaven. Staying at the Tranquil Treehouse, was just what we needed! We were very sad to leave.
