The Neighborhood:
Willemstad, capital and chief town of Curaçao, located on the southern coast of the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean Sea. It is divided into two halves, Punda and Otrabanda ("Other Side"). The two are connected by the famous Koningin Emma ("Queen Emma") Bridge; opened in 1888 and rebuilt in 1939, the bridge underwent a major restoration in the early 21st century. A fixed bridge was completed in 1974.
Willemstad is a Caribbean centre of trade, petroleum storage and refining, tourism, and banking. The town has many Dutch-style gabled houses. Notable buildings include Fort Amsterdam (1635), which once guarded the entrance to Schottegat Harbour and is now the seat of government and definitely worth a visit. Other, icon landmarks are the Dutch Reformed Church (1769) and the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue (1732), the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere.
We also advise guest to visit Museum Kurá Hulanda, which chronicles the history of African empires, the slave trade, and the experiences of Africans in the Western Hemisphere. The Curaçao Museum, which features traditional and contemporary art, is the island's oldest museum. In 1997 the inner city and harbour of Willemstad were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Getting Around:
Within walking distance, you find several shops, a small market, a barbershop, diving school, bars, a small beach, restaurants and other districts such as Scharloo, Pietermaai and Otrobanda. If you want to explore more of the island, we can help you with renting a car.
If you decide to rent a car, there is a free parking spot on a 5-minute walking distance. Parking at the street is also possible upon availability, and for a fee during business hours.

We appreciate the management team working with us the best they could. Communication, check-in and check-out was easy. Unfortunately the property is not well maintained and needs a ton of updating. Upon arrival there was a horrible musty/mold smell. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, the washing machine was out in the middle of the floor, the master bedrom smelled like hot powdered peanut butter and there was a drip coming from the ceiling in the bathroom. The couch was torn and dirty bit was the only comfortable place to sit. Overall we were very disappointed in the lack of upkeep but the managment team did their very best to come back over and re-clean and try to figure out the leak, which unfortunately only got worse till the last day when it was pooling onto the floor into the bedroom.
The location and views were amazing and did not disappoint. It was amazing to see the Queen Emma Bridge open and close, all the Cargo ships, Military ships and yachts etc. We had several firework shows, live music and parades. It was so easy to do a little shopping, grab some food and be back home in no time. Parking over at the old plaza hotel was never an issue.
We hope the owner will work with the management team to get the place fixed up and in better shape because it truly is a gem and worth the experience!

The best thing about this apartment is the location. The view is AMAZING. It's very cool to watch the water, the bridge and the boats/ships going by. The apartment is a good size with plenty of room for the 3 of us. Having a washer and dryer was very handy, the air conditioners were efficient in cooling the space and it was clean. We felt safe in the apartment, the general area and all over the island.
However, it was a VERY basic apartment. The only seating was the couch or dining table, there are no chairs on the small balcony. The kitchen had a coffee maker and toaster but generally was minimally stocked with essentials. No paper towels, no dish soap or cloth to handwash dishes (there was detergent for the dishwasher). The handsoap dispenser was empty so we bought our own. We didn't try to cook but I think it would have been a challenge.
Beds were firm which didn't bother us, towels in bathroom were not luxury and toiletries were only in 1 bathroom (I'm not complaining, just describing).
This is not the place to stay if noise is a big concern. The bridge and ship traffic move 24 hrs/day. There is live music at the restaurant below on the weekends (but does not go on too late into the night). Construction is being done in the building next door and they start very early in the AM (this is not the owner's fault). The road in front of the building is a fairly busy thoroughfare with the usual traffic noise. You can also hear dogs barking periodically.
If you have a rental car, you will have to find a place to park it and there's nothing on-site or immediately around the building. We parked in the free garage at the Renaissance Hotel shopping complex which is across the bridge (10-20 minute walk). Not too convenient, but again, it wasn't a big deal for us.
Overall I'd call this apartment "adequate". It's not a fancy place to stay but it was also very reasonable. It served our needs but there was nothing extra. We probably would not stay here again; we'd pay more money to stay someplace with a few more amenities. But the location IS fun!

Fantastic location
The kitchen needs a few more items. It would be nice to have some bowls to use for salads, etc. it also needs more pots/pans.

A wonderful apartment in Punda. Plenty of space and the view is out of this world. The agency was wonderful to deal with and very attentive to our needs. The kitchen could use more kitchen ware for a more pleasant stay. Missing a lot of the essential. only the bare minimum. Nonetheless, we are already planning to return here next year. Marvelous vacation. We are going to miss you Curacao.

Phantastisch!
