the staff all spoke english quite well.
discount for ski rentals for guests, and the hotel also shared a good deal on lift tickets. close proximity to slopes and all guests can store their equipment slopeside.
I did not like the lack of variety for breakfast. we had a toddler with us but the treatment every day was slightly different? first day he got a juice, second day no juice, third day he got a mini-sized main. really odd.

This was the comfiest and coziest hotel with impeccable staff and a great location. The ski rental shop at the gondola base is run by them too, so you don't even have to carry your skis from your hotel to the slopes! the perfect combo. A quick 5-10 minute walk up to the base, then put on all your gear and you're going in no time, the perfect way to do it.
The staff were incredible - very kind, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, I'd recommend staying here for them alone! The rooms are warm, and all the guests we met were kind and relaxed. The breakfast is a great way to start the day, my partner and I are not breakfast people and we loved it. The dinner is also absolutely something you have to try! A fantastic 2-3 hour multi-course experience with mostly Japanese and some European dishes, all impeccably presented. I definitely recommend pitching in for the risotto, but I won't spoil the surprise.
The private onsen is downstairs and can be booked out for a block of time. A fantastic way to relax after a day of skiing, with piping hot water pumped straight from the town hot springs. The rooms are warm and comfy, and the location of the hotel is great - right in the center of town, and it's only a short walk from the bus stop.
We initially booked this hotel as it was one of the few ones remaining for our dates. We though we got higher rates due to late bookings and had intended to stay in a ryokan (also recommended), but this was worth every cent. Blown away, we would definitely stay here again.
The beds are slightly small and I whacked my head on the bathroom door a few times. I, however, am 194cm and not the brightest, and this is Japan, so spaces not set up for tall people are to be expected. The bathroom was slightly dated, but entirely fine and the water pressure was great.

Excellent. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this property and it has made me think about booking another holiday again to the same destination. Very central with easy access to communal Onsens and restaurants. The Hotel itself has a private Onsen. The staff provided excellent guidance and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable helping with discounted snow gear rental (30%) and coffees from their attached coffee shop.
Sharing a communal toilet wasn't ideal but it was always clean very close to the room. The queen bed was two king singles pushed together. Access to Yu Road which takes you up to the Gondolas is a moderate walk.
