About this house rental
Charming 1900’s Arts and Crafts/Craftsman-style, 2-story house in the heart of suburban historic district #1, in small town Highland Park, CA. Wood siding and shingle roof exterior. Updated kitchen and bathrooms with Craftsman door and window treatments. 6 fully furnished bedrooms. 1 non functional fireplace, wood floors, 3 updated bathrooms and an updated kitchen. Fully gated property with parking for 5-7 cars, plus 2 large public parking lots are directly adjacent to the house. Property is located just a few blocks from the 110 freeway halfway between Downtown LA and Pasadena.
The house has an Electric Vehicle charging station if you happen to be driving an electric car, central AC/heat, AC units in 5 of the 6 bedrooms, washer/dryer, flat screens in all rooms hooked up to Roku, and/or chromecast. Access to log in for Hulu and Netflix (if you have accounts), HBOGO, etc. Propane grill in the back, and gated parking for up to 7 cars. The locks on all the bedroom/closet doors are old-fashioned, a skeleton key will be provided. Some closets may be locked and some dresser drawers used for storage. However, there will be drawer space and a place to hang clothes available in each room.
Highland Park is a historic, artsy Eastside neighborhood, rich with Mexicana cultural history, complete with murals, graffiti, taco trucks and fruit stands. The house is close to some great bars and restaurants (The Greyhound, La Cuevita, Antigua Bread, Folieros ) as well as the Highland Theater, which is an art deco theater. There's also several workout studios within walking distance and beautiful nature hiking spots.
Walking distance to several neighborhood Pubs, cafes, coffee houses, authentic Mexican restaurants and hipster restaurants. Also, the 90 year old Highland Theater one block away is adjacent to several other historic buildings. And just recently renovated and reopened, the Highland Park Bowl, featuring fresh made pizzas (made with flour imported from Italy) and an attached microbrewery!
Great Location for Public Transit! If you don't have a car during your stay, even better, because your a few feet from the train station. The Highland Park Metro Rail station (Gold Line) is half a block from the house. It's a 15 min train ride to downtown LA (Southbound) with stops in Chinatown, Union Station, and Little Tokyo and its a 15 min train ride to Pasadena (Northbound). You can also take the train to Hollywood and/or Long Beach. I recommend researching where the train goes so you can decide where you wanna go during your stay. Its a great way to get around in a city notorious for its traffic. If you're flying in, you can grab the "flyaway bus" from LAX to Union Station ($8 I believe) where you can take the Gold line right to the front door of the house.
Great Location if you have a car! The house is located in a great area of Los Angeles from a freeway standpoint. You'll mostly use the 110 since its right by the house, but you'll also have access to the 5 and the 134. Being situated close to so many freeways allows you to take alternate routes when traffic is bad. Its about a 20 min drive to Hollywood, 10 min to downtown, 10 min to Dodger stadium, and 10 min to the Rose Bowl.
We have onsite hosting during your stay; Sam, Zac, or Trevor and Laura will be staying in a separate one bedroom unit on the same property.
Please feel free to call me if you wanna discuss your stay and handle the negotiations/terms over the phone followed by a rental agreement. If you are renting for an event, you will be subject to an event fee.

Perfect place for large group/family
The property was perfect for our gathering of nine adults. Plenty of room and the three full baths were perfect. There are restaurants, bars, a donut shop, coffee shops, anice cream shop, and a CVS within walking distance. There's public transportation near too. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Harry Potter. Some of the guests said the house reminded them of Harry Potter.
GPS navigation made it easy to find and the security was great. The exterior of the house could use some updating but the front yard was quaint and we met the gardener. He was nice. It's a big house for sure! The oven needs a serious cleaning. When we used it a lot of smoke from burning residue filled the house. We had to open up everything to air out the house and that was successful. We didn't use the oven again. It could use a downstairs tub. The dining area was nice. Loved the china! Den was a little tight but we made do. The back bedroom downstairs is difficult to heat without making the upstairs too warm. Loved the foyer and stairs and the bedrooms upstairs were adequate. Nice big bathroom up there but I was surprised at the size of the tub. I thought the state was experiencing a shortage in water. Anyway, other than the street noise, the Metro and the partying around the block area that kept us up a bit; it was ok. I can't say enough about Joshua. He was great! Thanks for your hospitality.

Great house, convenient location
The house is a beautiful space to share with friends for a wedding we attended nearby. The beds were comfortable and AC worked well. Communication with Zac was great as he kept us informed when an appliance repair person would be stopping by so we wouldn't be surprised. Right next to Gold Line metro with convenient access to downtown LA. Enough parking spots for our group. Thanks for the great stay!

Great spot for family gathering!
This great home was the perfect location for 3 generations (ages 16 mos. to 72 yrs!) to gather for a family wedding at The Ruby Street. Access to the metro was so handy for our outings to Universal Studios & downtown Pasadena! Great coffee shops and yummy bakeries in the area. Grocery store & CVS pharmacy close by for any needs. Zac and Josh were very helpful with any questions we had prior to and upon arrival! Would love to return again!!

Great place to stay for several people
We really enjoyed staying here for the Rose Parade. It was right on the Metro and easy to get to the parade. Getting back was tougher as many others rode the Metro but the line moved quickly. Several things nearby. Personally I think it is better to still have a car if you stay here to be able to go places that aren't within just a few blocks. Parking inside a locked gate is nice. We felt safe the whole time. Zac was very helpful with the one small issue we had. Beds comfortable - some soft, some hard.

Huge place. Top notch!
Don't judge this book by its cover! You wouldn't guess it from the exterior, but this place is thoroughly modern inside, HUGE, and comfortable. We had a large family group and we never felt like we were tumbling over each other. You'd probably call the neighborhood "up-and-coming," but it felt very safe; no concerns. And the place was real convenient to the 101 freeway, which made it easy to get around LA. No real play area outside for the kids, but some parks an easy walk away.

Well located near Fig House, Metro--and comfortably accommodated our crowd of 12
For our purposes, this house was great--enough bedrooms to have privacy, enough bathrooms so that the 12 of us could all get ready for my niece's wedding at the Fig House. Josh, the onsite manager, was wonderfully responsive to our requests (kitchen was a little short on dishes and utensils, dining room needed some more chairs). The only downside for us was the lack of common area other than the dining room, as the parlor/living room has been converted to a bedroom. But if you'd prefer to stay in your room and watch TV, this is definitely your rental (huge flat screen in EVERY room).

Perfect Place and Price!
I really love this place! My brother got married in Pasadena, CA. Instead of everyone paying $300 bucks a night for nearby hotels, I booked this house. We had a pretty large group, 10 adults and 2 kids. And it fit everyone perfectly!
The place is spacious, well-appointed, and outfitted w/everything you need. We were able to make meals at the house, enjoy time together relaxing, and have plenty of places to park the various rental cars.
It is also well located, with transit right next door. The nearby commercial district also has restaurants, a Smart and Final grocery store, and other things you would need and/or want to visit. Be sure the get breakfast burritos from La Estrella and take in the beautiful murals!
I highly recommend this place!

Well appointed, large bedrooms, accurately described, yesteryear charm.
The exterior color scheme was not an eye catcher and had a worn appearance, inside though was wonderful. Well supplied, clean with comfortable beds. We held a wedding rehearsal dinner in the front yard for 50. The bougainvillea hedge gave great beauty and privacy. We had plenty of room. Just the perfect property for our family. Owner and on site manager were easy to work with.

Nicely kept, clean property in a convenient location
This rental worked out perfectly for my team on our work trip. We needed a convenient place near Pasadena, and the location of this house couldn't have been better. We enjoyed visiting the coffee shop around the corner each morning and exploring the local restaurants and bars in the evenings. We used the common areas to do late-night work together, which was much better than crowding into someone's hotel room. We expect to be traveling to this area frequently in the future and hope to be able to stay here again!

laura is a gem to work with! house was 4 minutes from wedding site (the fig house). we had rehearsal dinner there which worked out so well. we brought the kids back to sleep with a babysitter during the wedding so the parents could stay late. the rooms are all well stocked with sheets and towels. kitchen also well decked out. so close to metro station which my grandson loved. we bowled at the amazing bowling alley around the corner and enjoyed the excellent coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

We would rent this house again
House is as pictured. We were a group of 8 professionals in town for a training. Plenty of room. Parking is way too tight for 6 cars so I wouldn't try that again. Neighborhood felt safe, lots of places to go within walking distance. House was clean and all beds were really comfortable except for the king in the master bedroom, that could use some updating. Our deposit was refunded promptly and without issue.

Awesome Place for a Group of Friends
This past weekend a group of cyclists participating in the MS bike ride where fortunate to stay at the Craftsman "home" in Highland Park. I placed home in quotes because we were truly able to make it our home for the weekend. All of the necessary amenities were there, everything from a dining table that could seat all of us to a TV room where we could gather, relax and laugh a lot. Apparently this home was originally built in 1902 and it had so much character and charm. But probably one of the most charming things about the home were Laura and her husband, the site caretakers. They were so accommodating and responsive to our questions and needs...they made our stay just perfect. We would stay here again!

Wonderful for a group
It rained the whole time we were there which is far from normal! I only mention it, because we didn't have any need to access any outdoor space so I won't comment on that.
Indoors, the rooms were great. Plenty of space in the house for 6 adults to have their own rooms -- even more if people are sharing. The master was huge. Two small downfalls were the lack of room darkening (needs heavier shades) and the shower had little water pressure. There was another full bath on the first floor, so it wasn't an inconvenience. My bed was very comfortable. (Sorry, I'm not sure how the others liked theirs.)
It was easy to get in touch with Laura, the manager. She was considerate and attentive.
Some nice shops and a very cool bowling alley closeby. We didn't try any of the restaurants, but there appeared to be some good choices.
We hope to stay there again!

Wonderful spacious well stocked home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious home. We were in highland park for my daughters wedding at the nearby Ruby Street venue. Both Zac and Laura were extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Laura went the extra mile, trying to help us out with making sure we all had spots to park our cars, as there were five of my adult kids needing places to park. The house is very well stocked with all you need to make your stay comfortable. I would definitely stay at this home again and would recommend it to anybody looking for a large house for a very reasonable rate.

Wonderful family experience
Loved staying at this beautiful home. The owner and caretakers had thought of our every need including coffee and half and half in the refrigerator! Off-street, gated parking was handy and secure. We really enjoyed walking to restaurants, Rogue One at a local theater, and even yummy pizza at a fun renovated bowling alley built in the early 1900's. The kitchen was fully stocked and easy for us to treat our guests to grilled steaks. Such great memories!

Great house for a group!
Our large group of 10 absolutely loved our stay at this house! Great location in Highland Park, and within walking distance of quite a few great bars and restaurants. The house is spacious and beautifully appointed, and the bathrooms are particularly nice--loved the subway tile and the rain shower heads! The keyless entry to the gate and back door was really convenient since we had so many people. It was also pretty excellent that all the TVs have Rokus with Netflix, Pandora, etc. Kitchen is lovely and has all the things you'd need to make a full meal, as well as a Keurig machine for morning coffee. The owners are super nice and helpful, and you may even get a chance to hang with their super cute and friendly pup, Max. :) If you are considering this house, I wholeheartedly say go for it. You will love it!
