The village location and friendliness of those we met.
Unfortunately the footsteps and voices from occupants in the property upstairs could be heard, especially early morning.
The intermittent WiFi signal was frustrating, but the property owner is working with the provider to improve this.
4.1
All on one level and near to centre
A bit noisy as flat above gas wooden floors

The location in terms of Staithes is brilliant, everything you could need nearby and great options to eat and drink. If driving, book the Glen Vale car park, £10 for 24 hours.
The flat was spotless, clearly had been cleaned well.
The bed was very comfy, nice comfortable bed linen. Good selection of dvds and books provided along with WiFi.
Despite the positives, we were unable to fully enjoy our stay because the below items were needed.
Earplugs: between the cacophony of seagulls and being able to hear every footstep in the flat above, we struggled to get a good night’s sleep.
Blackout curtains: there’s only a light blind in the bedroom so the sunlight comes streaming through in the morning. Bring an eye mask!
A blanket: despite being summer outside; the flat felt very cold and there were no blankets provided.
A table and sofas: the photos show two sofas in the living room but actually there are two small leather armchairs and nowhere to put your drink. This made us reluctant to sit inside as it felt like an uncomfortable space.
A hairdryer: none provided.
Having to strip the beds and take away rubbish felt unnecessary.

Lovely location, clean, beautiful little cottage !!!
Had to take rubbish home , which was inconvenient; due to request from the host to remove rubbish. I assume the bins were in the back garden which we had no access to , due to the back gate being locked.
Being really picky would have preferred a sofa rather than 2 chairs in the front room. However this is just my preference .

The property was clean
It felt damp all furnishings felt damp including bedding also the towel radiator in bathroom tripped the electric when turning it on.

Warm and cosy, very clean, great location, spacious bathroom
Needed a shelf in the bathroom, no internet a full length mirror would of been nice

Key box - easy
Lack of cooking utensils
Lack of wiFi, but this was stated in the property description therefore not misleading
4.1
convenience of location
The sofas were tired and worn looking. The bed was uncomfortable and the duvet very thin. the pillows and bedding could do with updating. The tea towel & oven gloves provided were very worn. The information provided about the accommodation stated games were in the drawers of the coffee table. there was no coffee table and one pack of playing cards. Reference was made to the First Aid box being near the kitchen noticeboard. there was no notice board and no First Aid box. I’ve never been required to strip the bed of where I have stayed and felt that should be the responsibility of the person cleaning the accommodation.

The cottage apartment is just perfect for a couple. It was cosy and clean, and we felt we had plenty of space (lots of storage in the bedroom and the layout is great).
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Staithes.
It also had things like a dishwasher and microwave, so we didn't find ourselves needing anything. We had an absolutely perfect break and would come back in a heartbeat.
Some people may be turned off about the lack of wifi, and I got no mobile reception at all in the cottage, but we found this made us ignore our phones entirely, which made the holiday even better.

It’s very clean, perfect size for a couple.
Not a lot!

All in all excellent, very comfortable, pretty and lovely location.
1)Sadly the cottage stank of damp. This is clearly a long term maintenance problem that hadn't been addressed. We discovered on our 2nd morning the shower tray was split and water ran through onto the floor below. These conditions significantly influenced our opinion of the premises. We contacted the caretaker about it.
2) I was disappointed not to receive a welcome tray as we have in every other property we have visited. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar would have been most welcome especially as the shops are a long way off and hard to reach after a difficult journey.

TV was limited

Excellent location. Very well presented with modern facilities and very clean and comfortable. A great retreat for coastal walks.
Confused about the location of the outside bins. TV signal dipped in and out at times. We were aware there would be no WiFi but given the TV signal and no mobile phone service, WiFi would have been very welcome. That said, it didn't spoil our stay.

Grimes Nook was lovely. Very comfortable and clean with all the basic stuff you need for a relaxing weekend away. The bed was sooo comfy!!
The location was great. In the village centre but off the beaten track (although it is on the stairway to the large car park, so we felt like we knew a few people quite well by the time they had passed several times with their holiday packing!) There was no signal or wifi in the cottage, which suits me fine. I read. And we had downloaded some films on the tablet. There is a pile of dvds in the living room, and books in the bedroom. You get a bit of a signal out the front if you really want to contact anyone.
We didn't venture out to the restaurants/pubs. The Royal George only accepted cash, and the Cod and Lobster wasn't taking bookings as it was the summer. We did get a takeaway pizza from Cobbles. And had coffee and cake. Both of which i would go back to.
Mandy was spot on with communication as soon as i had made the booking and everything was explained exactly.
Will definitely be back. Totally switched off from the outside world which was well required after this year!
These are really niggley nit pickings which i think for the price could be considered but certainly are not enough to put me going back:
The family that were in Grimes Cottage above were quite noisy (not on purpose,i just think the upstairs floor isn't carpeted so all footsteps are heard!). They had a dog, which I'm sure was on roller skates and was chasing a baby dinosaur which could be heard throughout the night/mornings. I had taken ear plugs so it didn't bother me too much.
Another toilet roll would have been appreciated for a three night stay, as would an extra bin bag, but i think we have said that before about stays away (to pack and extra roll and bin bag) .....seemingly i use too much loo roll anyway, so it was a good test for me. We eeked the roll out for the weekend, but i was glad to get home and luxuriate in ample paper!
All in all, my own gripes and have already put an extra loo roll in my case for my next weekend away.
