A privilege to stay in such a gracious old building. We were awe struck with the history and sensitive conversion to a luxury hotel.

Friendly staff. clean and with great views as it is set up high.
Perhaps the complication of reaching it by car the first time. not really suited to people with walking challenges.

Fantastic location. Lovely old building, great views from the room and terrace.
No evening dinner served. Only one member of staff in the bar. Unable to order drinks from the terrace.
Bed was a little firm

beautiful location at the top of the hill in Hondarribia. Really well designed to meet the needs of guests whilst retaining its original features.
Sound proofing between rooms isn’t great. The plumbing is also noisy at night, you can hear very loudly water being discharged from other guest’s bathrooms.

We loved our stay at the Hondarribia Parador. The location and views from our room were fantastic. Our room faced the water and such a joy to watch the sun rise over the water. The breakfast was generous too. We used the parking facility which was tricky to find and small spots but nice to have nearby.
The only complaint was the cushions on the seats in the breakfast room. They needed more stuffing.

Beautiful historic building which has been tastefully modernised into a stunning hotel

A lovely medieval setting.
we arrived by auto and it was confusing as to where the parking and bag drop was.

nice with a lovely view.
4.5
The calm and beauty. The bathroom was large-- included toiletries, bathtub and bidet. The front desk service was excellent and I appreciate the opportunity to stay in the Parador.
The room was not as shown in the listing foto-- there was no sofa/living area. Although the breakfast selection was ample (including churros and hot chocolate), the service was not consistent. One day there was a menu, the next day not. On the first morning I never received my order of scrambled eggs.

can’t get a better location in this town/ area
The private parking place is best indicated for small cars, the way up to the parking is very narrow and the parking slots are best suitable for small/ medium cars.

Absolutely the loveliest accommodations we have had in Spain, as we have traveled all around the country. The staff went out of their way to assist whether we needed an early breakfast, restaurant recommendations, a taxi, or help arranging laundry services. We had a magical view of the river from our window seat in the very spacious junior suite. The sunrise was incredible. I cannot say enough positive things about this parador.
The only negative was location. Without a car it was about a 40-50 euro taxi ride to a bigger town such as San Sebastian or St. Jean de Luz.

The public rooms of this parador are beautiful - as is the terrace
The bedrooms are small and plainly furnished which is not usual Parador style.
Some staff were rather off hand

The staff. Brilliant. Location, exceptional. Rooms, fabulous. Takes some getting to but once there you realise it was well worth it. Walkable into town.

good location and great views from the terrace.
the air conditioner did not function properly. it didn’t cool enough. unfortunately we didn’t sleep well because of it.

Lovely room, overlooking the town and estuary.
Very expensive (£270 for the room) which was not good value for money. The charge of Euro 18 for on site parking added insult to injury!

The staff handled our complaint very well.
The paradores has a great ambiance and history.
The room was highly overpriced, not a 4 star level and size.
First night was very noisy due a family above us. The room is not very well insulated.

Authentic historic castle in a great area
price to expensive for the room

The building is amazing and the rooms were very comfortable, Breakfast was excellent, eating outside in the courtyard. Staff were very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had.
The hotel is tricky to drive to (typical for hotels in the center of medieval cities). Navigating the narrow streets and restricted zones is a bit of a challenge. Parking is very limited and costs 15 euros a night. If no spaces are available you can drop off your luggage at the hotel, and then drive down to the bottom of the hill where parking is free.
