Sehr schöne Unterkunft !

Sehr schön gelegenes Hotel mit Blick auf die Stauseen. Unser Zimmer war gut ausgestattet. Das Abendessen im Hotel war sehr gut. Auch der Swimmingpool war angenehm und mit Sonnenliegen und Sonnenschirmen gut benutzbar.

Wonderful location and views.

Beautiful property, location to go to for views and tranquility, we had a very nice stay. Nice pool, we did not use it but it looked inviting. Geres mountains are magical, mountain streams, waterfalls and pixie woods just a short drive from the Pousada.

Instant coffee at breakfast, and there is an extra charge to order fresh eggs, otherwise its powdered scramble. Rather disappointing and not on par with the prime location and good rooms, it can be very easily changed to make a huge difference. We had dinner too and it was fine, although they charged us 8 euro (4 each) for bread, olives and butter service (!?) Bread was not very good and very few olives. The server just brought it all to us and did not mention a charge.

An enjoyable stay in beautiful surroundings

The Pousada has fabulous views over the forest and river. The staff was very professional. We enjoyed a very good dinner. Had the weather been better, we would have stayed longer.

The weather, but there is nothing anyone can do about it. We liked everything else.

Amazing! Felt at home!

It was our first time out with our 8 months baby and we had a memorable stay at Pousada Caniçada-Gerês. Staff went above and beyond, from reception to cleaner. We felt at home away from home. Fireplace room is really cosy and has a stunning view of Cavado River. Thanks a million to Amanda, Ana Maria, Lilliana and cleaner (sorry can't remember the name).

Very nice place, recommended 100%.

The views were amazing, the hospitality of the staff, the food and the common areas.

improvements: The room was very nice but it had a bit of smell of being closed. Even though the food was really good, the menu had very little options.

Great view and great breakfast

The location though initially hard to find was great. If you don’t have a car this is not the place for you. The view from here was spectacular.

Breakfast was bountiful and healthy.

After checking out, reception emailed to say there was another charge that had not been added to my bill. But there was no description or invoice or the charge, but my credit card was charged.

totally stunning location, lovely comfortable hotel, great area to explore with lots of walking.

stunning location, the most beautiful views. hotel had a retro feel- mid century modern. rooms comfortable. pool area lovely. bar and lounge too

Great view on Geres Valley

The 360 degrees terrasse, where we could have drinks and meals. Wonderful sunsets.

The staff was overwhelmed by the number of guests. The (obviously) junior staff in the restaurant was not up to the hotel standard.

the view was stunning, the room was excellent. air conditioning was perfect. Breakfast was great! Close to everywhere we wanted to go. parking was easy, pool was great.

the price was steep and too quiet. not the properties fault but going into the pool you felt like you couldn’t even talk. it was that silent.

nice setting, fabulous views, good breakfast, room was not what we resevered and when they moved us ended up with a room

location is a beautiful setting in the Geres National Park, nice layout, good breakfast, fabulous views of the Douro River.

reserved a room with a large patio with view of the river but got a standard room, after much discussion and showing my confirmation we were moved to the right style room but it had a very strong, strange smell like a very strong mothball odour!

Pousada Canicada-Geres

Staff, location, hotel and pool, dinner on the terrace all excellent. Special mention to reception who organised a great tour of the Parque at short notice.

Perhaps some non-smoking rooms might be a thought. We had chain-smokers next to our room which restricted our use of our balcony.
