Location, the downstairs bar
Restaurant closed (I think they were renovating last year as well...not sure)
Carpet is tired in public areas.

Simply brilliant space, the suites are such great value for money and good size, meaning everyone had more than enough space. The decor and style added a wow factor that the children loved. For them, this was the best hotel they had stayed in New Zealand. The location is perfect for the city within 2 mins walk to Cathedral square. Hereford Street multistory car park provided great accessible parking only 4
min walk from Hotel.
Nothing

Stunning building. great facilities, great location.
bed was way to soft. Didnt sleep well.

Location . Beautiful building . Love the bar.
Staff on reception indifferent . No personality . Blah!
4.3
Fantastic room, very friendly staff at the front desk. The bed was super comfortable. I booked it as a surprise for my partner's birthday and she loved it. Thank you for a great weekend
Only thing that would have made better was if there was better onsite or close site parking
4.3
lovely room ,lovely booking lady very helpful with bags .A better system for getting bags up the stairs would be good as it is not good for the staff to have to lift heavy bags
The only thing was we were quoted $20 for car park but my visa has been charged $50 for overnight park which seems steep given the quoted one and misleading

The place is historic, grand and lovely. The beds are great and the location couldn’t be better. Shopping, theatre, restaurants, everything is extremely close by. But like most things, it’s the people that make it special. The customer service is wonderful and exactly why we come back. A very special shout-out to Sheila (customer experience professional). She makes ever visit so special and we will definitely be back and recommend to everyone heading to Christchurch.

Lovely heritage building with the great OGB bar at the front of the building .
Has a bit of a “ghost hotel”feel around the lobby area.

everything
nothing

fantastic location in the city centre
a wee bit tired and grumpy staff
4.3
central location and very comfortable
4.3
Beautiful building
The staff were less than useless....noone even bothered to come to reception for over half hr. I attempted 6 times to get hold of room service before ten and it kept saying the line was busy on another call Sono dinner that evening then they charged me for 3 bottles of wine we didn't have and on top of that didn't reimburse the 50 dollar bond.
4.3
staff very helpful. location is excellent. grand old building / character / spacious room . comfortable bed / pillows
the decor is getting a bit tired . it could be a very high class place again with investment .. but then it could get too dear for a business traveller !
4.3
Roomy suite, very well equipped, beautiful building and location is excellent. Sheila at reception was extremely friendly and helpful.
It would have been good to have a second toilet (downstairs) or at least a toilet separate from the bathroom. Also there is no porter to help you with your luggage. One day I asked that the room be serviced and they only came at 3.30pm, when my husband was resting, so we did not have a service that day.
4.3
Lots of room with a lounge and kitchen area downstairs and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Nice touches like towels for the pool provided, some chocolates mmmm and a envelope encouraging you to take home any half used toiletries.
Nothing it was all excellent
4.3
Fabulous spaces in this heritage building
bathrooms looking in need of a refit
4.3
Location of the hotel was great. The staff were very friendly. The housekeeping was very good, as my daughter had her baby and we needed a little more tidying.
I thought for the price that we paid, that the room, decor and furniture was dated. Also we were celebrating a special occasion and we requested some champagne flutes. Seemingly there were no flutes in the whole of the hotel.
4.3
Central location, although there was music every night in the outside bar area, nothing was heard in the room. Food in restaurant was good, and staff very helpful.
The fact that you had to go through the busy outside bar area to check in
4.3
Homely
Bath not bigger enough for two people
4.3
Lovely hotel, room was very nice and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in at a hotel. Very close to main shopping area so can walk to pretty much anywhere in the city centre. Would stay again
4.3
Overall value for money. Great location. Valet parking offered on site.
Entrance to the 'reception' past the busy OGB bar wasn't the best of experiences entering a hotel.
4.3
The building is superb and the bar at the front is great, great location.
The suite needed a revamp and the bathrooms were very tired, no morning room service. The bedroom gets rather hot if shutters are closed, as no air con in there.
4.3
location and character
no proper reception and rooms a bit tired looking
4.3
The beds were really comfortable, great location, friendly staff.
The room says there is a coffee maker, there wasn’t. There was only a plunger - but no plunger coffee. The bathrooms were clean but quite dated and could do with a bit of a spruce up.
4.3
The suite size was fantastic.
Reception area was an office.
4.3
Big rooms very spacious hotel with high ceilings. Very courteous and professional staff members.
Everything was great.
